[Q] Learning to Develop the android OS VS Dev for apps?

What's the difference in Android OS development and Android App development? I want to learn the OS so I don't screw up either of my devices, again. Not so interested in developing apps, yet.
Not really sure what exactly you are asking. Android OS is linux based and I do believe most apps are Java based.

[Q] Integrating Android on an ARM Board

Good Day XDA!
I'm just asking a little help because i don't know where to start to.. I do have a project in school that will use ARM Board and Android OS. I have bought an ARM Board but I don't know where to start to in integrating..
1. The ARM board has already installed Android OS 2.2 but I want to install a higher version of OS. Can someone give me an advice or tutorials that can help me to upgrade or to build android for an ARM?
2. I've seen the article about building android from source but I don't know what's next after building the source from Linux OS and in building boot loaders and drivers.
3. What are the ways in making applications pre-installed aside from ADB? Is it possible to have a pre-installed app in a custom ROM?
That's all! Thank you!

Android Go

Who will bring this low-end OS to our device? First?
I was gonna ask the same question. Android GO is going to be the best way to put Android O on the moto e 2.
Android Go will be more stable and lag free. It'll reduce the need to use RAM heavy OS like the newer CM Builds. I hope they release the source and builds soon so that someone can port it to Condor.
Yes I know that our device is low end it really need this type of ROM but Don't expect this ROM any time soon before Q2 2018, as this project is expected to release by 2018. So be patient and wait for Android O.
After reading into details: GO will be a flavour of O. You can get a similar setup with existing custom ROMs and microG. Only GO feature i haven't seen yet: Restriction of recents to four apps.

I need to install Android Studio version 1.0 on Linux - Is this possible?

Hi there,
I've recently purchased the John Horton book 'Learning Java by Building Android Games'. He's a talented writer and the book is very easy to read, but it was published in early 2015 and the version of Android Studio used is very different to the current release. Can I download version 1.0 for Linux from anywhere? If not I'm going to have to abandon this book and learn how to develop Android games elsewhere..
Thanks,
Andrew.
