Hi all,
This is what i did
First of ,
vibration button off + volume down + power button,
this takes you to a menu with 10-14 options, and here one option is sd download. and i selected it by mistake, and it said
HTML:
sd download start
read/write mount!!
and after this factry reset starts.
and now my venue is stuck at dell logo from last 2-3 hours.
I am scares that the sd it was talking about was internal sd. can anyone confirm that i have not did something wrong with that. pls right now my balls are in my throat. guyz help
The V has no innerSD unlike the S5.
Does it do the swirl or just stay at the static white logo?
I cant really offer much but a warning after the fact: never touch any of the menus in 'ringer-down' mode, this is exactly what might happen
You might have to ask dell for a replacement

That stucked on white logo thats it. nothing else, lets see i will go to dell service center tomarrow as today there is festive holiday here in India today

Hello, have the same problem, but it works with some limitations. It does not show battery indication. You can write any rom and mobile will works. but now you can turn it on only with usb cable. Interesting what you hear in service center

Ok took venue to service center and now i am having Froyo 2.2.2 installed.
as they only re-installed the OS. and onething>> the software they were installing the OS was just looking very similar to QDL Tools (like the one for streak by djsteve @THeManii). and when i asked is that qdltools they just ignored that
What rom are they installing? venue pkgs arnt exactly super common

Interesting. But there is no service center in russia, so is any way to reinstall OS at home?

they are installing 2.2.2.
I will provide build number later, as the device is of my mom and now its night here.
And I am more than happy to provide the backup of it if you want but let me know please is there any safe way to do it as babdeoud is not working on cwc I guess

Hi, any update on this?? I have the same scenario..I accidentally update it...now it won't turn on......and there's no dell service here in our town.... Any other workaround on this?..help would be very much appreciated.....

normally if a flash has gone wrong a triangle hazard sign comes up on the screen
Use SEUS on a 32bit pc. leave your phone plugged into the charger for at least an hour before doing this. even if no lights come on just leave it charging. then run the update service exactly as it tells you. turn it on, and LEAVE it, it will figure itself out and reset
Its a software glitch had the same thing just remove the battery and start the phone repeat about 5-8 times then itll start but will not be stable so youll have to reflash it using seus. ive managed to find out that certain apps ****s the phone up even thuo its market ones.

It wasn't used in an offensive context so just move on. It wasn't meant as a rude statement at all, it was used in place of a gentler term and had the desired effect as far as I am concerned.
You could try booting into "safe mode" hold the "menu & back" button as soon as you switch it on and keep them pressed untoll you can see "safe mode" in the bottom left.
If this works it will allow you to remove anything that may be causing the failure to boot issue you have.
Let us know if this works.
Ok so as I expected I've bricked one of my dell streak devices. The unit was having issues rebooting a few times a day while I was debugging my application using eclipse so I flashed 351 to see if it would help. Well my custom kernel (USB OTG mainly) wouldn't work with that so I flashed back to 318 and tried to flash only the 351 baseband well after that streak is completely bricked. No Dell Log, No Lights, No QDLTool. Some phones and devices have solder points that can be bridged to recover this kind of brick but havn't been able to find anything about that on the streak. Company doesn't want to buy a JTAG machine now but thinking of buying one on my own if I have to.

Have you found any solution. I have the same problem since couple of weeks.
Sadly no I'm about to buy a JTAG machine I think I spent the entire day studying one of our dead circuit boards and couldn't find anything.
I think the best thing and most easiest is to buy a broken screen streak on ebay (around $100-170) to swap the motherboard thing. That's what I did for my streak which wouldn't start at all since I flashed the wrong files!!!!! Jtag is really troublesome if one doesn't know a thing about soldering and it is expensive.
while that would work I'm a EE with very good soldering skills and many different android devices. This is the first i've ever bricked (luckily it was work's :lol but I'm sure as I keep doing lower level stuff it will be more common.
Call Dell & tell them that it won't come on & they'll exchange it if you are still under warranty.

Hey...Any update on this one...Did you get it fixed? as I am in the same situation and no idea what to do next. I have been suggested to format the Internal SD and looking for instructions to do that but unable to find one.
Trying to install a 3rd party app can't do it option is missing

Settings>Applications doesn't have the option to install from unknown sources? If so you're probably using a Streak gimped by AT&T. Change your ROM because from what I recall there is no engineering mode on your ROM.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
yeah im using a at&t rom....gotta do a warrenty return...dont wanna flash other roms to my phone after this but if my new phone comes wit 353 on it im still gonna have the same issue...anyway around it???
You can flash/root and return to at&t so long as you remove the root and custom first. Rooting may make the option appear. No promises though.

No. Unfortunately, changing the ROM to 345 or 351 is your only option. Both of those are for unlocked Streaks and have none of the AT&T bloatware and none of the AT&T restrictions.
well i gotta wait for my warrenty unit cause for some reason i keep get the constant restarts and dell logo freeze issue....come to feel one day that my lower left hand of my unit was extremely hot...i started havin the resets after i flashed my phone to dj steve 1.7.1...now the heat problem so i called in warrenty....im sceptical about flashin a new rom now cause i dont want to mess up another streak...im already gonna get a referb....:

I got a Dell Streak 5 yesterday but when i want to start it up i only get the Dell logo and the home and menu button do some flashing then it gos again to the dell logo and only de menu button is lighting up and that all....
Now i tryed some things by reading this forum but cant get it done...
Im a bit new to all this flashing and rom stuff so plz some1 explane to me how i can get my dell streak 5 to work i dont really mind what software is on it just want it to work but if you know what the best software is to use i would like to use that one...
I hope some1 can help me so i can use this phone/tablet.

Is this new or second hand? if new take it/send it back for replacement. If second hand did you know it was faulty when you bought it? if not same applies only this time get your money back.
If you knew it was faulty I'll leave others to help you sort it out if possible.

You've waited all this time and haven't bothered to look for the numerous threads that mention changing out the internal SD and you want the info spoonfed to you? Don't think it's gonna happen...
Really wish the same mod that mentioned where to put this thread takes some initiative and DELETES this thread
Damn dude I have bin looking on this forum for like 50 hours this week... done almost everything with this streak but cant find the right info about what difference the class of the internal sd makes so I ask.... dont just start talking like that...

Honestly a quick trip trip to Wikipedia's article on SD cards would have answered your question since it explains what the difference in classes are. Hell, even I didn't know the difference until I went and looked, since I received a 16GB class 4 to replace the 16 GB class 2 that comes standard with most Streaks.
finally my O1 died,got stuck while flashing orignal v20c and the phone not starting at all so is there any chance to bring back life in it or if i give it to service center is there any probability that they can find that i was trying something fishy ??

nopz nothing here,nothing works completly dead
no power on,no lg logo nothing
actually i was flashing v20 then it got stuck in emergency mode i tried each and everything.....seriously everything and then i decided to take off the usb after abt an hr in emergency mode and bang O1 is already dead
Aww the main reason for this I guess is cos your phone did not have sufficient charge n so it died off while in emergency mode!

my advice for you is to tell them that the phone turned off because it ran out of battery,you plugged the charger but nothing happened so you decided to come to warranty.

LOL... not necessary that every one are...but buddy, don't worry as you haven't done any physical damage (Hopefully!), you should not have a problem getting it back to order...Just walk to any authorized service center and tell them that phone is not responding...don't know why ? They should take care of rest

bro phone is not responding, completely dead...

I was flashing my O1 20C firmware, then mi usb cable moved a little, and disconnected, the flash stoped and the phone didn´t respond, so I unplugged, the O1 was on a yellow screen and I removed the battery, when I tried to turn it on it never did again, I taked it to my carrier, I said "it turned it off and never came back" and they gave me a new one.
If your phone is not turning on anymore you should say goodbay to him, I tried everything and nothing worked.

go to laxminagar service center... they will replace the pcb...I got mine replaced..
yup got my pcb replaced and got a life in my O1

yup but my usb is still bugging my O1,it removes on its on while connected to pc,i don't even touch it and i guess that happened yesterday as well

your usb port has gone bad... get it checked
