[Q] KPA Rom with 3G data issue - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Basically the wanam KPA works excelent but with one issue for me, that is the 3G data.
After few minutes of use it, the data is losing, the 3G icon still there but with out data, if I turn on the wifi and after that turn it off, the 3G icon never retun.
I reflased several times, full and clean reflash (format system, data, cache, etc.)
I read some other user have the same kind of issues with KPA roms not only the Wanam.
Almos forgot, I reflash diferent modemos like KP8, KL1, without succesful.

Its questions = Q&A
Its a Beta test rom bugs expected especially wait for the official release .
jje

This is also basically "known" now.
This is why I always hate people who ask about a new builds stability after only 1hr or battery life after 30mins! LOL It took me 3hrs or so to get to this issue myself because I was at work the whole time and therefore didn't change towers till i left. That's when the RIL issue kicks in.

[Q] Data Drop

Hello everyone.
I would like to see if anyone may be experiencing the same issue and if anyone may have found a cure.
I am experiencing data drops on all roms. After a fresh install the rom works perfectly. Sometimes for a day sometimes for several days I will experience no problems. After a time I will no longer have any data connection at all, the 3G or H symbol is there but no activity. I have rebooted, reflashed modems, turned phone off in airplane modes, and toggled data. Sometimes this works but for the most part it is only temporary. I have experienced this problem on Trigger, Bionix, flagship, loki, and now stock jfd. I dont know what else to do. Is there a way I could have messed up the hardware of the phone? Any suggestions?
(I experience this in many different areas, as to rule out just poor reception, I will often have full signal with no data.)
Thanks,
I did have this on Axura and TW Roms.
I moved to Trigger and did a clean install, no issues at all with data drops since.
You can toggle airplane mode on/off.
You can toggle airplane mode on/off.[/QUOTE]
Trigger did last the longest before data dropped, about 3 days. I try toggling airplane on and off several times. When my data drops its off for hours I have even waited a whole day then I usually end op relashing back to stock and starting over. I stayed at JFD for 1 day and data dropped so im confused.
thanks for response!!
If it were me, this is unacceptable.
I would verify no issues with T-Mo (data cap/bill issue)
Assuming that is fine, I would make a copy of both internal/external to my pc, after a nandroid and Titanium backup was made.
I would then format both internal/external memory cards.
I would then power off and get use ODIN to JFD.... root.... cwr... flash your fav rom (maybe trigger final since you said you had the best luck with it).
I really doubt you would have trouble after doing this.
Ill give this a try tonight when i have access to odin. Thnaks for all your help.
Did you ever overclock the phone ? the heat potential of overclocking can have some bad effects on the circuitry. Either way I would get to Stock and do a warranty replacement on it.

I have overclocked the phone but never really thought about that as a potential problem. The problem is intermittent; it works fine after a flash but then drops off as i use the device. Would this cause the same issues??
Once again Data has dropped from Trigger 2.7 edt. I dont get it. There has to be some kind of hardware issue. Ive had full data from my last post 2 days ago.
I am not at data cap limit, and I have paid my bill. Data was just working 2 min ago, phone started to lag, rebooted now no data. I have flashed KA6 and KB1 modems twice each, rebooted in flight mode, toggled data 10 + times.
Anyone with any other suggestions before I turn this bad boi in??
thanks,

Stuck on 1x no 3g

Hey guys, running Das bamf 1.4
I dialed ##778 edit mode and all that. clicked enabled I did that last time but now I can't go 3g I pulled out the battery complete restart all apps. And yeah any help? I'm running das bamf 1.4 stock kenernal (I spelled it wrong I know, doesn't matter u know what i mean)
-THUNDERBOLTS ARE GO!!
I am having the same problem right now. I was on BAMF 1.4 and it was running great. I flashed Tesla and I could not get on 4gLTE. I restored back to BAMF and still no 4g. I might go back to stock and see if that fixes the problem.
Try wiping everything and then reflash the rom. And when i say everything i mean cache, dalvnik cache, phone data, etc.
I know i know, what I just did was go to settings SD and storage and did a software rest. Now it works
I did the factory reset 3 times. I also wiped Dalvnik, and battery stats 3 times. I finally just unrooted and went back to stock. That fixed it. I just rooted again and installed Tesla Coil without any problems.
Main troubleshooting steps:
Battery cover all the way on? You'd be surprised on how common that issue is.
Is there network issues within your network? There have been here in NJ.
Have you tried a battery pull? It's amazing what that can fix.
Is the 3G signal too weak? It could say something like -83dB but still, no 3G for me sometimes.
The list of things to try goes on and on. I can't blame a ROM for something that could more than likely be user error or network issues.

im in Jersey too...do u know the specific problems?
i get what i guess u can call spotty 3g...sometimes go to do something in app that requires data and nothing happens for a while then 3g shows up..sometimes I initiate browser and that makes it connect to 3g
For some reason my phone was in LTE MODE. I switched it auto prl. In 3g back.

GPS issue

I have to say this
when i had build 3.0.xxx my gps worked very well, stable signal during many hours of navigation (i use sygic)
then, with build 4.0.xxx, is a very disaster
the phone loose the signal few times in 15 minutes, so so bad
and withouth reason
the signal is very strong, 6-7 satellites with nice reception, but in a while no more signal, then it fix again after 5 seconds
this is no possible, an hardware issue will be always present i think
so what can be? have you experience this with firmware 4.0.xxx ?
GPS lock performance is very dependant on you clearing cache and user data... then updating. There is nothing wrong with the new 2.3.4 or 2.3.3 firmware regarding GPS - it is very good indeed.
Have used GPS in the city and also in the country and have no issues with it on 2.3.4 on my neo, maybe do a reflash or something, clean install and see if the issues are still there with the gps? good luck man.

Data and Wifi Troubles?

This is real weird. As of last week sometime, my phone will stop all data connections or wifi connections after about 6 hours post reboot. The only way for it to work again is to reboot. I'm assuming it's an app of some sort causing this because I did a fresh install and the problem is persisting. I have uninstalled all new apps I've installed over the past week as well. Anyone have anything similar or possible solutions? Running CM7 N214 & DCs 8.9.1.

I was actually seeing this as well, but not consistently enough to report it. Was happening on all the nightlies I'd been on after n13x (which was one in the 15x range, and a couple 20x ones). When it did happen for me, it was usually about the same time of day, so I think it might have been on a 24 hour cycle (I don't normally power my device off, so it was probably hitting at 24 hours after the reboot to fix the last one). The strangest part was that the connection icon color would continue to show a google connection, and if I was on 3g the up/download arrows would light as I would expect. Just no data traffic. Was running DC8.9.1 on all of the above nightlies.
this is not so much of a wifi issue but i did loose my data connection twice in the past month. the first time i was outside and i wanted to check my email but i couldn't. i was abel to send and receive texts messages and was abel to make and receive phone calls but no data was available and no internet. i try re booting the phone but still no data. about two hours later i check to see if i have internet, and it was working all by it self. not sure if this was my phone or a AT$T network thing. the second time i was leaving from my home wifi to my AT$T 3g network but the data connection was unavailable, no internet. but this time a reboot fixed it. i have had my aria for about a year now and this has never happen before. this may vary easily be a network, cell tower thing and nothing is wrong with my phone.

That definitely sounds like a network issue because it's not repetitive or consistent.

Hi,
I've been having the wifi/data drop issue since 2.3.7. I was hoping nightly 242 would solve it. No mas. Lost data connection after ten hours. Flash 208 and all data/wifi issues disappear.
Stock kernel. DC's kernel doesn't seem to affect the issue for better or worse.
Will keep lurking over at the developers forum...
John
I use the stock kernel and I think this problem is affecting my Aria too. Wifi usually doesn't die until about 2 or 3 days.
Flashed 243 and DC's 8.9.2a kernel yesterday. No data loss all day and was still connected this morning when I woke the phone up. Just flashed 244 and 8.9.2a. We'll see how long connection lasts.
John
I had to reboot my phone running stock 242 today. Wifi showed connected but the Market took almost 60 secs to open. Opening "my apps" didn't work. Reboot cured all.
The problem has been narrowed down to drowningchild's kernel. If you are using this kernel, just reflash your nightly to revert back to the stock kernel and all will be fixed. To follow this problem since it is not fixed yet, refer to this kernel's thread in the development section.

For me, the problem started with 2.3.7 and continued whether I ran DC's kernels or not. Flashing nightly 208 eliminated the problem, but of course, who wants to go backwards?

Did you do a full wipe when going Fromm 2.3.5 to 2.3.7? I haven't heard of anyone with stock kernel issues.

I've been having this problem for a few weeks now. I thought it was just me. I was driving using google maps and had to pull over and reboot since my data decided to crap out at the worst possible time.

I'm pretty sure some over in the "Nightly builds starting!" thread mentioned drops with the stock kernel.
No, I didn't do a full wipe. So far, I haven't noticed any drops since 244 with DC's 8.9.2a kernel. Fingers crossed.

Oh, ok. I just didn't recall any, but I could be wrong. I think for best results, you need to full wipe when going from 2.3.5 to 2.3.7. Also, I have heard that 8.9.2a is still dropping for some with the recent nightlies. I have had no problem with the stock kernel, as I did a wipe when going to 2.3.7.
I was the one having probs with the stock kernel, but a format and flash of 242 fixed it. Been running fairly good since then.
I did a full wipe and flash of N245 + DC 8.9.2a tonight. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. So far, GPS locks in less than 5 seconds.
FWIW, I also did not flash the very latest gapps, the 08282011 version. Does that matter?
John
OK, the big drop came about fifteen hours after wipe/flash w/8.92a. Airplane mode toggle did not bring connection back. Flashed N245 again. This time I'll try the stock kernel and see how it goes.

The gapps version won't matter with regards to a data drop. I am running the 6/13 gapps.

MY Atrix always restart and boot every time

hello,
i really dont know what else i can do to avoid this problem
every 1-2 hours my phone random restart or freezee and then restart himself..
i tryed almost everything..
replace roms. radio.. etc..
right now i am with cm9 of turl and the kernel 2.6.32.59
baseband n_01.07.05p
dont know what else can i do ..
please try to help me i am really upset about this problem ..
If u in USA use the 37p radio. Then try using fastboot to clean phone then try a new clean install. Using default kernel..
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
If that doesn't work, send it in to warranty. Both of mine did this, and Motorola told me it was a hardware issue, and replaced both phones with new ones. Not refurbished units.
I would try wakelock app from market. I had random rebooted and SOD. Wakelock amazingly took care of problem for me. I have it set on partial wakelock. I am still sending it in on warranty BC. I feel I should not have to run an app for my phone to function properly
ok thanks
but the problem with sending it to warrenty is that the tax will be cost lots of money cuz they think its a phone that i bought from out side my country and there is afee in each cellphone that people order 50% almost from the cost..
thanks i will try the app
Just hope it works 4 you. From what I here it is different strokes for different folks with these phones. Good luck. Please post results
well this app really ruined my battery
needed to calibrate all again .
the app made the phone cpu work all the time and this really drained my battery out.
after its drained i couldnt even charge it .
needed to plug in and charge it 12 hours someting like that to get full charge.
i know its not the app that made it slow charge but its really drained my battery much faster.
but i think that the reboots are better since last radio insatall that was recomended in prevoius posts
It does use a bit more battery on mine. I set it on partial wakelock. My battery still last me from when I wake up till I go to sleep. And charges fully when I sleep. Again I set it on partial wakelock. I am also running neutrino rom
same as u i used partial wakelock and its draw 60% of my battery in 5 hours without even touching it.
but i must say after i used some take killers the phone isnt reboting anymore till now. i will check it more few days to give some more details
Fastboot wipe and a completely fresh install should fix and software issue, once you do that try installing apps one by one and work slow, which rom \ kernel \ radio are you using? All those can factor into issues as well. Good luck!
Edit: just re-read first post, do you have this issue with a stabler rom ? I can't seem to find a Cm9 rom that works as good with international rom as well as the blur or cm7 based ones, but that just be me.
yeah i never did fastboot reset . i only formated from recovery. maybe this will fix it.,
but tell you the true after i uninstalled some applications the reboot went to 1 in a day max...
i can live with that ;p
I had the same issues one month ago, then I did a factory reset on settings and fixed
My friend and I have random reboots on our AT&T Atrixes. We have determined that it occurs when we are in an area with a low signal strength. Mine reboots at home at least 3 times a day, but not so much when I am at work or about. My friends reboots when he is traveling to work, and crosses over between cell towers, where his signal strength dips. This only started happening with the last system update. By the time ICS comes out though, I think I will be upgrading to the Galaxy S III.
i will try to do fastboot format soon
hey man dont lose your time haha. you only need choose a correctly kernel for you. i had the same problem.
My AT&T ATRIX random reboot problem stopped when I installed a new sim card. I have no idea why, but I had read that a bad sim card could cause the problem and the local AT&T store provided one.

Try what i do ever time i flash a rom
All CRAP REMOVING
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase webtop
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase preinstall (not required)
fastboot -w (redundant, wipes userdata and cache)
then if u think ur problem is caused by Radio then falsh a new radio i amusing the 100 version and its working grate
then flash ur rom and gapps and other addons if any then do a Fix permissions from recover and finally reboot and wait till it boots and report back with good news
Usually phone reboot occurs because of under-volting or overclocking heat-up so try not to flash OC kernel and UV it at all and enjoy ur fully functional smooth atrix
I am currently using
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=olympus&type=stable
smooth as butter and no problems at all unless i messed some thing my self.
Atrix Reboot Problems
I had the same issue with constant reboots (at least 10-15 a day). The fix..........NEW SIM card which AT&T provided free of charge! My phone has not rebooted since replacing. Try it!
Android Version 2.3.7
Baseband version N_01.7715P
Kernel version 2.6.32 yadayaya
CyanogenMod 7.2.0
Awesome replies for fixes to this problem has been mentioned. For over a month I was fighting with the atrix random reboot of terror. What did I do
Flashed to CM 7.2, wipe cached/ wiped partition. restarted- problem proceeded
Flashed back to CM 7.1,,,,,,
Flashed faux 123 1.0GHz kernel
flashed faux 123 1.3GHz kernel
flashed abcdefg kernel
flashed more kernels- problem proceeded
Full data-wipe
Did a bunch of other things such as OS monitoring to detect some type of failure..
Noticed reboots mainted the same frequency throughout the day but mostly when making calls. Also noticed duplicate sms when sending texts and receiving especially when traveling bouncing off different towers. Came to the conclusion that it had to be a hardware issue. Changed sim as stated in other replies and forums. Problem eliminated.
Keep in mind under and over voltage can also cause random reboots along with reinstalled system apps etc.
