Transformer Prime TF201 Discontinued?!?! - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

There have been massive bombs on the Asus facebook page (North America) about asus discontinuing their products??!?! can anyone confirm this? The closest proof I have is this website saying that its discontinued. If anyone knows, that would be great!!
I have a website saying it on excaliber pc.com (for some reason, it wont let me post a website)

First: OH MY FREAKING GOD, ANOTHER THREAD ON THIS RIDICULOUS ALREADY DEBUNKED RUMOR!
Second: Do you mean, ASUS discontinuing ALL OF their products? Because certainly we know that's not true. Right? RIGHT?

ok, I have not seen any threads on this. how is this debunked? and im only talking about the TF201 (stated in the thread title)

No offense, but seriously? You can't find any threads on this? Crazy.
It's debunked because in at least one of those threads that you can't find, an ASUS rep has stated unequivocally that the TF201 isn't being discontinued. Certainly, we have to go by his word vs. random speculation based on confusing and unclear retailer out-of-stock verbiage?

Guy at bestbuy here told me they didn't expect anymore stock and they pulled the display materials.

Awhh **** I do not want a discontinued tablet! We won't have any developers!

ok, thanks for the update. Still makes you wonder though with the bombardment of hate feeds on the prime. Hope they did make a "new batch" of them that improves its problems. Doubt it though

Looks like Asus gets a big fat FAIL for communicating with their vendors also.

So is it or isn't it? I don't want a product which was in stores for like a month and then pulled back. I mean, what the F are those guys there over at Asus doing?

Why it will be the best performing quadcore tablet! Because of the resolution! Will be lower than the other ones! Everyone will be playing shadowgun at 30fps and you can play it at 60fps. And it will be a limited edition! Plus it has one of the coolest names for a tablet!
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk

Apparently an Asus rep said that it is not discontinued. Honestly said, its hard to find out if its true or not. Then again though, they are selling alot. Im not sure though how many are returning theirs back. But if I had a product that is failing, I wouldn't tell people that its becoming discontinued.

TF201-Not Discontinued
Quoting Gary from Asus: "The TF201 is not discontinued. I have no idea how many times this needs to be said but the TF201 is not discontinued."
Although the product may not be discontinued, it does feel like ASUS is not committed to this platfom given the information retailers are providing.
Can ASUS please state:
1) Is ASUS continuing to manufacture the TF201?
2) How long does ASUS expect to continue manufacturing the TF201?
3) Is there a reason why some retailers are no longer accepting orders and why other retailers are just not even selling it anymore?
4) Is ASUS committed to the Tegra-3 processor?
5) How long can buyers expect to receive firmware and other software updates to the TF201 platform?
Appreciate your help with putting this to bed.

Where there's smoke, there's usually fire.
My hope is that the current model is being discontinued for a newer model with a fixed backplate, and that we early adopters can exchange our models for the newer one. Otherwise...well....I don't know what to say.

And exactly what does this information have to do with Transformer Accessories?
There is already a thread in Transformer General about this update. Yesterday there were three but the two newest ones got closed because of there being more than one. It probably won't be long until this one gets closed too.
@hitekredneck precisely nothing
of course you could have had it bumped, or even read it was posted from the tablet realised I'd probably dropped it in the wrong forum by mistake, kept quiet and not posted anything. I do of course say, could have.
But failing that thanks for the incredibly useful reply. Appreciated.
Mods, can you please move the post to the correct forum section for the OP. Thanks

The results of Opperation: social media attack asus!

A summary of the Opperation results we got 3k+ petitions on change.org, made over 25 major tech blogs including gizmodo engadget and the verge!
The results from asus
1. They will release ICS January 12th!
2. The GPS is caused mainly by the metal backplate!
3. A tool will be released that will unlock our bootloaders (no eta for this it will also void your warranty at least people in the US)
Be sure to give to me the one who spent a whole day posting and organizing this movment! (tipping the news ect.)
Also their is one other person to give thanks/props to besides yourself and me and that is asus! They handled this PR nightmare very well!
Congratulations team PRIME this just shows how powerful we can be towards a company when we work join forces TOGETHER! Now we know in the future how to get what we deserve as paying customer's from a company!

WOW Congratulations team PRIME. Great job.
I really was not sure if ASUS will give a F&*^K about us! But this differential will change a lot of things going froward.
One thing, I know that ASUS have removed the GPS from prime details! DO they will keep the GPS hardware in future reproduce of Prime or they will remove it?

Asus Transformer Prime receiving Android ICS 4.0 on January 12, 2012

Amazing news for us.
Owners of the Transformer Prime will be the first ones to get Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.
Asus is also releasing, version 8.8.3.33, this will improve the focus of the camera, the fluidity of the touch experience, and the APK capabilities in Android Market.

I wonder if the ICS update will even get a push back from the Jan. 12th date like the crazy number of times the prime got pushed back...
At this point, I don't even think I'll be surprised anymore if ASUS does not follow through.

Not to be a glass half empty kinda guy but I am going to keep my finger cross. Asus hasn't been doing that well their timetable lately.

Where is the WW upgrade, .13 ??

Is it blocked beacuse of some European "blockheads"..... ??
RMA....
Just wait and relax, but i also cant understand why they just dont release updates worldwide..

I am no "noob" and for me this is rather strange !!
Maybe the WW area has a responsible total nut which counting bandwidth costs ??
More important then customers !!

It's obvious that the update has been pulled. Even some US customers say that they haven't gotten their update yet. The whole thing about Gary saying that it's going live and that they tested Primes and everything is fine apparently turned out to be false if you look around the forums.
It's sensible thing for ASUS to simply stop these updates, since they are making things worse all around.
We will get it when we get it, i can't see how complaining on XDA is going to make a difference?!

The battery and the sleeping issues I can live with until they fix it.
But the constant reboot when there is a fix is something I want now!
I'd be happy to exchange battery life for a device that is actually usable. :-/

It's still up for those who want them, but OTA seems to be halted.
Or they could just unlock the damn bootloaders so people with problems can roll back and wait for the next patch.

GPS dongle

Just went to Pulse and heard that asus is offering a gps dongle on their website if the gps doesn't work. When I read closer, it directed me back to xda, but I couldn't find any thread talking about a free dongle. Can anyone confirm that ASUS is doing this? And if so, how do I sign up to get one?
Thanks for any replies

I believe that any company can have "propriety/inside" information removed, if the item was not meant for public consumption. And until they release details, it would be private corporate info....I think that all the different reports that you see today all came from the original email that was posted on XDA in the removed section.
In the past, I've seen Microsoft do the same thing when someone published a ROM for a windows phone that had not been released.
