Customized Android rom development, need your help! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, developers in XDA, we are currently planning to develop a new android-based rom. The framework will be deep modified to give users a full new experience, We are all students in high school, so we need your help. After this project finished, we may design a new device using the rom we built.

Our project needs your help! We are NOT commercial team, We are just students. And I think most part of our project will be open-source, at least all projects owned by me. You can check them out in my project page:
MusicMod (based on Music Mod by Eliot Stocker, but with more powerful feature, my goal is make it better than PlayerPro, but MusicMod will be free and open source forever)
SMS Blacklist (block spam messages)
And I will develop X-server for Android in the future!

Take someone elses rom and tweak it a bit like everyone else does
sent from an HTC sensation on CM7 alpha #10

Hey John_Titor,
don't listen to what people say about it being hard, look at cyanogine and miui they started from scratch and now look how popular they are..
just stay close to the users and everyone will be happy
you can try using cm9's kernel or cm7's kernel instead of starting from scratch.
finally i wish you all the best.

Revolutionary customized Android rom development, need your help?

Hi there developers in XDA(sorry for my poor English first), we are currently planning to develop a new android-based rom. The framework will be deep modified to give users a full new experience, We are all students in high school and lack of pro-developing experience, so we need your help. After this project finished, we WILL design a new device using the rom we built.

AOSPA: Paranoid Android fully Open Source

AOSPA PARANOID ANDROID GOES OPEN SOURCE ON GIT
To all developers and maintainers out there,
we took our time to get a stable hands-free build-box ready, sorry you had to wait for so long but we had alot of work to do and we did not want to release something that is half-baked.
AOSPA is a new project for us, as you know, we started by basing on Cyanogenmod. This one is based 100% on AOSP. AOSPA is meant to be a stock oriented, lean ROM that delivers essential ROM-scene tweaks while retaining the elegance and ease of the original. We do not invest much time kanging other ROMs or teams, our primary focus is and will remain invention.
WHAT TO DO
As a developer you will need a couple of links to get up to speed.
If you just want to build, you find our Github here: http://github.com/paranoidandroid/
Kick it off by executing: repo init -u [email protected]aranoidAndroid/manifest.git-b jellybean
The only way to build PA is by using . rom-build.sh [devicename]
Hands off 'make' please. If everything works as expected it should ask for and fetch vendor files automatically.
If you would like to participate and help us, our Gerrit is here: http://review.paranoid-rom.com/
Legacy devices must supply their own trees and blobs. We do not accept any compromises to AOSP, please keep hacks out of it and overlay them properly.
Maintainers can freely take this project and release where ever they want. If you use our name, please make sure you stay true to our vision. Do not clutter this ROM with everything-everyone-ever-asked-for.
If you like to base your project on PA, no problem. Just treat the base with respect.
Kangers can take whatever they want, blow yourselves out.
NEW POLICIES REGARDING PA-PREFS
We unstamped the app and it may be used in any ROM. We do this under one condition. Do not mix it with DPI nonsense, ever! Do not merge it with AOKP's DPI changer, Dual-Panel Stuff, anything "true-tablet" related. If you do that we will pull it out of your project.
We do not wish to be the target of Googles retribution, and they take app-breaking VERY serious and could end any ROM if they wanted. Hybrid engine is safe as milk and will not break one single app in the entire Play market. But if you get our source wrong or mix it with conflicting code, you will - using our name and reputation. Please treat it respectful and give your users a decent experience!

SferaDev: Hobby Developing

Hello I am SferaDev!
About me:
Well I am a young developer of only 17 years, I love the Android world and expanded universe of Star Wars. I started programming with JAVA three years ago, then I played some Metro and web and finally I been charmed by the Android experience.
My Android Apps:
My first application was published here on XDA a Task Manager with Holo interface, which bear multiple tasks.
Then, I developed my first "big application" whose development is still in progress and has been LAIA: Learn Android in Android. This app has been a source of review on the XDA portal and has more than 2,000 active downloads at Google Play.
After an afternoon with some friends, occurred to me DateUp. That allows quickly contact friends and propose a plan via Whatsapp.
When testing the library to create random objects and use databases, I developed an application called Random Option.
Recently, I created a utility for root users at 4.2 with a phone that has no multi-user support. The application is called Multiple users feature enabler.
Also I've made my own launcher called Dummy Launcher, designed for kids and old people but honestly it doesn't appeal to XDA users.
What I'm working on, now:
I am working with Paranoid Android team at the moment. I also maintain (unofficially right now) Omni for my device and I work with Illusion Rom when I have time. A detailed list of my ROM work on xda could be (Till JB 4.3 as KK is not stable atm):
Paranoid Android for the Galaxy S: A Jelly Bean 4.3 build with HALO 2.0, App Privacy and a bunch of new features!
Illusion for the Galaxy S: A Jelly Bean 4.3 build with tons of features!
Omni for the Galaxy S: A Jelly Bean 4.3 build with a pure AOSP feeling!
XDA RD Petition:
I made some months ago a request to be a Recognized Developer here on XDA, but they have decline it. The reason it's that I have to improve my work on XDA. So I have been working at XDA till now and I have reapplied to the RD program.
RK29 Tabs
As I own a RK29 tab I've been involved in testing and adapting rooting methods for them in ICS and also posting official updates here in XDA.
I have stopped development on this device due hardware issues with mine.
Thank you for reading and if you wanna support my freely work use the Thanks button and/or the donate to me button!
See you!

Cleansing day! Wipe GQQgle from Android Project

Heyho you suckerz,
you know it's overdue to do some real work!
Enough dreaming of personal fame, merging ten thousand f***ing user interface parameters into your very exciting new ROM!
Listen, fanboys: Get up! Drop all that fancy wallpaper-sh:t! Get a real alternative up and running!
What a shame to link to the latest GApps, like potthead lamerz!
We need a ROM that contains some bullet proof alternatives for the broken industry standards!
Make sure your next version includes a proper free and open source
market (like F-droid)
cloud client (like ownCloud)
messenger (like xabber)
eMail client (like K9 mail)
browser (like firefox)
map service (like osm)
So, let's provide for a killer compilation here instead of whacking around with pointless notification animations.
WAKE UP, Dirty unicorns, cyanogenMod, Miui, Paranoid Android, WAKE UP!

[Request] High quality open source spirit box app

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,
just recently, I lost a very close person in my life and my heart hurts very much.
Since I am a very spiritual and open-minded soul, I have been testing many “spirit box apps” with poorly coded interfaces, of which many if not most use pre-coded words which are randomly “spoken” to trick the user into thinking that a real spirit is “talking” through the app.
A much better approach is to not use any wordlists or pre-recorded words, but use some sort of “frequency scanner” in order to enable the user to really hear paranormal sounds and voices.
So what I kindly request with this small topic, is that an open source minded developer starts a high quality spirit box app project with a serious name on GitHub (or GitLab) and adds it to F-Droid, so that other developers can contribute and enhance the app in the long run.
Also, it would be wonderful if the high quality app (meaning: no use of pre-compiled words, possibly multi-language, high quality graphics, no ads, regular improvements and updates through F-Droid) could also get a proper labelled thread on the forum of XDA Developers, so that it can get “featured” on the main XDA website and thus gain even more attention and development momentum.
I’ll gladly contribute the German translations once app development has started.
Thank you for reading this, geeks, please let us know here who starts the awesome attempt!
