Free accessory for anyone with dock. - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Ever want to use your Prime flat on a table?.. doesn't happen to me that often either, but anyway...
If you have the dock, it makes a fantastic table stand. Detach the screen while at about 90 degrees to the dock. Flip the dock over (keys down) and the little rubber feet on the bottom grip the Prime and protect the Ali back from scratches. The hinge and the little rubber buffer the front mean the keys don't touch the table either.
I can just tell I'm gona get loads of "thanks" for this. lol.

At first I wanted to type some sarcastic sneer.... but then I got to the flip the dock part, and it clicked
Smart thinking, although I dont mind just putting it on my table on not moving it around xD

Thank you, wish I could buy you a beer, but since I do not live anywhere close to you here is a mental beer buy "Buys beer, gives beer".

Best case for in a backpack w/ dock

So I am a student, and I'm always walking around with a backpack full of books. I want to carry my transformer and its dock with me so I can do some on the fly word processing between classes when I get a chance, but I'm worried about the weight of my books being pressed against the dock, being pressed against the tablet in the case.
So, does anyone know of a good, hard, case that will fit the dock and the tab? I looked through the sticky and didn't seem to find anything that wasn't discontinued (unless I missed it??).
Thanks a lot!
Regards
Smith
I have the same conditions in my bag due to my classes.. I don't use a hard case but these:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...oocase+super+bubble+neoprene+sleeve+case+10.1
work super good and are only like 15 bucks.. the bubbles on the inside are super cushiony.. I don't even worry when its in there.
That's dope! If I may ask, how do you situate your tab in your backpack? Front, back,? And do you face your screen to your keyboard dock or away?

I carry mine in my backpack with no issues. I wanted one that would encase the tablet AND the dock. In my opinion, this one is the most practical if you are almost always using the dock anyway.
Well, since I can't put a link in a reply yet; go to amazon and look up: "Poetic(TM) 2in1 Ultra Light Leather Case for ASUS Eee Pad Transformer"
Hope this helps!
http://www.amazon.com/HP-Tablet-Sleeve-Black-Trim/dp/B0033RSNPG/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_3
I use this for with the dock. There's also a more expensive blue one, I wish they had a green.. but I got the red because it's cheap and worth the cost!
I am using the malina case made for Mac Air 11. Fit perfectly.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Targus-CityGear-Mini-for-iPad-Tablet-Netbook/16480776
I ran across this one at Walmart. Fits perfectly while docked or not, and is very well cushioned. It has a good amount of room, allowing me to carry my adapter, phone charger, Jambox, and ZaggSparq. For $25, it's a pretty good deal.
yes its very nice

Transleeve or regular leather case?

Does anyone have the Transleeve smartcover yet and the tablet? can the smartcover fold completely backwards like simply opening a book cover and folding the cover all the way back (to the metal back side of the tablet?)
The videos only show it being folded to different positions to be used on top of a table or flat surface... my questions is, does the cover get out of the way when you just want to hold the tablet while surfing on the couch? ... or will it need to be pulled off every time?
Is it possible that the rubber back can damage the aluminum backplate if folded back?
I guess I am just trying to decide if I want the sleeve, or a regular leather case instead-
Another thing... is it possible to use both at the same time???
Thanks!
I personally think a leather case would be better the asus cover looks good but doesn't add any protection to the back of the case when in use.

It can indeed be folded all the way back and will not damage the aluminum backplate.

Thanks... I greatly appreciate the feedback. I am considering to pre-order a leather case- the one below from Amazon:
VERTEKS (TM) Asus Eee Pad Transformer PRIME TF201 10.1-Inch Android Tablet Wi-Fi Multi Angle View Leather Folio Case Cover (Black)
This company made a leather case for the original transformer and it got high ratings, so I figure its a low cost safe bet for the prime!
What is interesting, is that the above post states the transleeve can fold back all the way... I may have to further consider all options before deciding-
Note: I cancelled pre-order on the leather case for now- still undecided, and greatly appreciate the feedback received!
Dont get the Asus sleeve, way too over price for limited functions. I am going to return mine as soon as my screen protector and case arrive. If you only plan on having just the tablet and dont mind scratching up that nice aluminum back then get the asus sleeve, but if you plan on getting a dock and keeping it looking new, get another cover.
I too don't see the merits of the sleeve. If I want it propped it (for watching a film etc.) i'll just pop it in the dock. Similarly i can see myself getting annoyed very quickly with having to remove the sleeve every time i wanted to dock the prime.
I will be using my prime for a lot of couch surfing and while on the go, and based upon feedback it seems that it would be best to get a leather case.... I also don't want the aluminum backplate to get all scratched up since i will be holding it the majority of the time during use.... So :
I went ahead and pre-orderdered this one from Amazon:
VERTEKS (TM) Asus Eee Pad Transformer PRIME TF201 10.1-Inch Android Tablet Wi-Fi Multi Angle View Leather Folio Case Cover (Black)
What sucks is that it doesn't ship until Jan 6th -like almost all of the leather cases listed on Amazon, they are all pre-order only.
Hopefully, I don't scratch the hell out of the backplate by the time the damn leather case arrives!
Thanks for the input!
ordered it also, had to call in a favour from an American friend to use his address and send it up to Canada. We Candians don't seem to have any luck with anything related to the prime , All the good cases are in the usa
cute android sleeve case
I pre-ordered this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0062OKDIC/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d2_g23_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1RNMQ9X4A2AJZJH9GGVK&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846. Have a Roocase on my TF101 and like it.
I have a bit of a different perspective... One of the things I'm looking forward to with the Prime is the thinness. Thus, at the risk of scratching the back, I'm going to try using it in just the ASUS cover. I might put in the dock when I'm taking it more than back and forth from work and put the combo in a sleeve, bit for use around the house it'll be the cover and nothing else.

Me to. I want to feel it when using it. I have an itouch that is 3 years old and soon as I bought it I slapped a case on there. I really never got to enjoy that nice shiney metal rear cover.
not sure when those nice new fancy docks are gonna be available but I can get the sleeve by the end of the week. I'll prolly just resell it when everything else becomes available.
Has anyone found a case similar to the official ASUS one for the original Transformer, or the official Apple one for the original iPad? These cases were great, as they protected the entire tablet and added minimal bulk to the tablet. It's very disappointing that Asus has chosen to go with the lackluster origami cover as their official cover to this tablet.
Thinking of ordering this case - The company and original transformer reviews are great. Not available until the end of January though

Rugged/Otterbox type case?

Anyone seen/heard of a rubberized/rugged case for the prime? I'm thinking something like the Otterbox Commuter or Defender series...
Nothing yet. Otterbox told me no. Here's hoping for a ballistic case or gum drop like the first transformer had. I don't care if it's thick and heavy, I want it well protected.

Yup^^ they told me the same, when i had emailed them a few days ago

Why would you want a case so thick for such a thin device lmao you wouldn't enjoy the device for what it is

I sure hope you're trolling. The 'case so thick' adds extra protection. I am also looking for a case like this, hopefully someone will release an extra rugged one!
Some of us don't have little girl hands and actually want a bit of thickness. I don't get this make everything thin crap. Why not make something that can survive a drop. A well protected $500 is better than a razor thin $500 device.

No I'm serious those otterbox cases are how much?
60 bucks for tablet sized? Throw on a screen protector for 15 bucks and bam you get the price of a 1-2 year accidental warranty from square trade lol!
Just saying! And dropping a tablet is pretty hard a phone I see dropping Alot!
Anyways I have my naked evo and I drop it Atleast twice a day for the past year! Nothing bad has happened! Even left it on top of a car and drove off.. Yeah it scrapped the paint but who cares!

You do know that square trade and the lot only really cover with actual breaking of the device right? If the screen glass is cracked but the unit is still fully functional, they don't cover fixing the glass. It's in their terms and conditions.
Also, does anyone know if cases for original TF works with Prime? For example, if I were to get the gum drop's original TF case, will it fit into the prime? I know the dimensions are similar but not the same and I was wondering.

If that happens just drop it again until it really does break....
Anyways, I hate Otterbox cases, they add wayyy to much weight and in all seriousness, who is going to drop a tablet...?

Dude, with that logic, who would drop a phone? A phone can be wrapped completely within two hands. A tablet is bigger, can be gripped far less efficiently, and has a much bigger glass area that can be damaged. Clearly, you aren't the type to use an actual case. Just a cover. As for those of us who want that protection, whether we need it or not, Otterboxes are excellent cases.

Unfortunately, no. The camera has flash(TF101 didn't, so no space is made), it's thinner, and less wide. So altogether, it would just flop about inside the case. Real shame though, I would like to see it on the Prime. Hopefully they'll make one, seeing as the Prime is selling pretty well.
They cover water damage.... just dunk it...LOL
I have an otterbox for my Razr Maxx, but I only use it when I go play volleyball at the beach don't think I need something like that for the TFP, but I could see how some would like it.
How about this one?
http://www.gumdropcases.com/asus-prime.html $60 but it looks strong.
Anyone own the gumdrop case yet? Or maybe a link to a review?

I quite literally just opened it (gumdrop case) and put it on my prime! Any questions in particular?
General thoughts -- relatively sturdy case, though not nearly as robust as the gumdrop case for iPad 2, it makes a nice snug fit and 2 minutes in there are no glaring problems. Additionally, the rubber/silicon shell seems nice and thick at the corners, but thin and pliable (in a good way) at the ports so that they are easily accessible and the port covers will not place undue stress on the things plugged in. It may be obvious, but this case is not dockable. Though all the cameras are nicely cut around, it looks as though the light sensor may be slightly covered by the case, though this is hard to see. The way the mic cutouts are angled, it appears that they might be slightly less effective because they both face the rear of the device, rather than an edge, but I have not tested this yet. The case feels good in the hand and adds a nice grip.
Hope that helps!

Can you post pictures? more importantly, is there a cover for the microSD card slot so I can actually use it without cards flying out? Thanks for the first thoughts!
Edit: Pics! Ahead!
Quick answer -- all ports have great covers. They pull back nicely and stuffs within is easily accessible.

Thanks! One last question, is the built in screen protector anti-glare or anti-fingerprint?
Can you put the case on WITHOUT the plastic "screen protector"?
Modded by MBOK
The screen shield is removable but it is not anti-glare/anti-fingerprint.
By the by, I have an anti-glare/anti-fingerprint under the integrated screen shield (fits no problem) but I did notice that taking off the case is quite difficult (like it may scratch the tablet, as in left a mark on mine that I could wipe away but was disconcerting).

Loose connection to dock?

Hey so i was wondering how snug your prime sits in the dock. Mine has a bit of wiggle to it (if you hold the hinge still and wiggle the tablet it has a little wiggle). Is this normal and my expectations are too unrealistic, or should it be very snug?
Its not flailing around, but for instance when i use the touch screen when its docked, it has a slight bit of give. Nitpicky or normal is basically my question. Thanks!
Mines pretty secure, I think lol. I'm not around it now, I'll check if there's any wiggle when I go home tomorrow.

Mine was a tight fit from new but its starting to get a wobble. If I'm honest I cant see it lasting long term. I remove the tablet from the dock about twice a day so I wouldn't say its excessive. I think just opening and closing it has made it lose. Maybe this is normal only time will tell. Maybe we are worrying about nothing.
mine has definitely become looser in my mere 6 days of ownership. im going to be exchanging it for another one. or more likely returning for a refund and getting a new one when they actually exist in stores again
I get no motion at all when trying to move my tablet while its on the dock. Very secure.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium.
I'm on my second dock and it too is now loose. Only noticeable if you try to wiggle it, but still annoying. Am I alone in this and just getting ****ty docks or is this normal?
I've not had any problems with my dock thus far after about 2 weeks of usage. I dont remove the dock very often however.

Believe it or not, there is not consistent thickness between primes. I had a 32 and 64gb model at the same time for a few days and noticed the 64 wasn't as snug of a fit as the 32. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the 32gb prime had about an extra credit card of thickness compared to the 64gb prime, allowing it to fit more snugly into the dock. If you keep getting wobbly docks, the problem is most likely your prime and not the dock.

How to make dock stick to surfaces better?

Okay so I'm having a problem where my prime will not stay on the table without sliding off in class (inclined surface). Does anyone know of anything I can buy to have this device stay in one place? It's only a matter of time before this thing flies off the table lol.

This should work; Non-slip mat
You should find something similar for place mats in most home good stores or walmart/target. My mother uses a ton of these for rugs, seat cushions, and even drawers.
Does your dock not have the 4 circular rubber "feet"? Mine are pretty grippy, even on my lacquered desk surface.
A great alternative though would be some eGrips circles. I've used them before on various things and they're super grippy.
