Issues/Bugs - may or may not affect all of us
1) I have issues with voice quality of Titan, do you have it?
Some users have reported it for some handsets. Generally one of the solution that has worked is covering the top-mic with a finger. This mic is intended for voice correction but at times makes conversation muffled. Try that. If that doesn't work, we don't know more solutions yet. Try these threads-

Unlocking and custom ROMs
Understand Windows Phone unlocking first
1) Can I unlock Titan?
Chevron method - no more unless you have a token. - http://labs.chevronwp7.com/
Developer unlock - $99 - http://create.msdn.com/en-US/
Student developer unlock - free - https://www.dreamspark.com/default.aspx
Flashing a custom ROM - voids warrantly but give FULL unlock (for details keep reading).
All of the above will let you sideload apps with usual limitations in number of apps you can sideload (3 for student, 10 for other two).
However, certain apps that need Interop capabilities won't be able to sideload.
2) Can I Interop Unlock Titan?
Yes - full unlock with interop unlock by flashing custom ROM.
However if you don't want to flash a custom ROM, there isn't one for stock ROM yet. Follow these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271963
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1407652
3) Are there any custom ROMs for Titan?
Yes at the moment there are 3 excellent ROMs (as of 5th June 2012). Please donate for the first HSPL + Full ROM on the bounty thread.
There is a bounty thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445304
4) Can I force update my Titan?
Yes but please read the thread first - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
5) Can I SIM unlock my Titan?
Yes possibly - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379252
How to flash a custom ROM on my Titan?
At the moment things are a little tricky for AT&T customers, but not impossible. A detailed step-by-step debranding, HSPL instructions guide is this one.
All other Titans are easy to flash, but be careful. It is totally your own risk to take. First we need to flash SPL on your phone. Then HSPL and then phone is ready to run custom ROMs. I will try and break it down for you in brief.
Use this excellent thread for DFT HSPL
Follow the instructions for Titan.
You can enter bootloader mode by first switching off your phone. Then press vol + and vol - keys together with power on button. Once the phone starts with white screen and letters in green, blue and red you know you are in bootloader.
Now connect the phone with cable to your PC. Wait for the PC to install drivers. It will tell you once it has successfully installed everything.
Then when it says 'Run SPL' you literally need to click on the "ROMUpdateUtility" - usually about 1.4 or 1.5 kB in size. MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS CHARGED AS INSTRUCTED AND STAYS CONNECTED TO LAPTOP AT ALL TIMES.
Once your SPL is flashed, you need to do the same with HSPL. Then same with custom ROM. In each of these folders you will find "ROMUpdateUtility" that you need to run one after the other. It's that easy!
List of custom ROMs [updated 5th June 2012]
Before flashing any custom ROM, please make sure you have correct RADIOs installed as indicated for each ROM thread. Without correct radio, you will not be able to go beyond HTC Screen.
I'm stuck at RADIO 16 or RADIO 17 - what can I do to be able to flash whatever radio I like?!
You are most likely stuck on SPL2.5. Go to HTC website and download SPL 2.6 - follow the instructions on that page. Once you have downloaded it, remove SPL and get DFT HSPL on your Titan. Now you will be able to swap to either radio 16 or 17 - your choice!

AT & T wanted Titan rom Europe?
Goldcard can do?
Thank a lot!

First of all, the OS version does *not* matter here, it's all about the firmware version or bootloader version.
Second, "jailbreak" is a very ambiguous term on WP7, and one I really wish people wouldn't use, because there are multiple levels of unlocking.
The first, developer-unlock, is actually a feature of the OS and is supported by Microsoft. All phones can be dev-unlocked, but normally you have to pay for it (an AppHub account, intended for Marketplace developers, lets you unlock up to 3 phones and install up to 10 unsigned apps on each, for $99/year). Students can get a free account through DreamSpark, but only for one phone and up to three unsigned apps at once. There's another way, for $9 a ChevronWP7 Labs token lets you unlock one phone and put up to 10 unsigned apps on it. Unfortunately, those tokens are sold out and we have heard nothing on them getting any more (had to be approved by Microsoft). There are also some hacks that will dev-unlock a phone, such as WindowBreak (this thread). There aren't currently any such hacks available for HTC, though.
Next, there's interop-unlock. This means removing the 3- or 10-app limit, and also allowing the installation of apps that can use system components (drivers and long-running services) to break out of their sandboxes. These apps, commonly called "interop" apps after the ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES line in their manifests' that enables this capability, include things like registry editors and the HtcRoot project. All ways of getting interop-unlock are based on hacks. For Samsung phones, WindowBreak can be used to interop-unlock at the same time as dev-unlock. For HTC phones, though, you need to first be dev-unlocked before you can interop-unlock.
The third level is called "full unlock" and means the policy system that controls app sandboxing and user permissions has been disabled completely. Any app can run, and all apps run with full access to the whole device. Although this heightens the risk of malware or o accidentally damaging the device, it also allows all kinds of cool features to be added right into the phone, as well as enabling some very cool apps (including ports of WinMo apps). Currently, the only way to get full-unlock is to use a custom ROM.
In order to use a custom ROM, your device must have an unlocked bootloader. This is done by installing an alternate bootloader called RSPL, and can be made permanent by installing HSPL. You can read the DFT (Dark Forces Team, who are responsible, directly or indirectly, for almost all custom ROM achievements on WP7) threads on R/HSPL on this forum. Although all first-gen HTC phones are now supported for xSPL, be aware that it can only be installed over stock SPL (bootloader). Most fully up-to-date phones will be running SPL x.x.
For you, in particular, you can either try interop-unlocking, or you can try installing an unlocked bootloader and a custom ROM. The first option preserves your phone data, but is less permissive in what you can do. The second option allows almost anything, but you'll have to wipe the phone and will also be at the mercy of any bugs in the custom ROMs. Additionally, either option may require rolling back the phone in some way (firmware for interop-unlock, SPL for bootloader unlock), and interop-unlock will require first getting dev-unlock (may cost money).
Thanks GoodDayToDie

^^ Thats the first explanation I have heard about all the unlocking options available for WP7. God knows Ive looked, but it seems that every piece of easily understandable (for the WP noob) information is buried within some techno jargon that doesn't have a glossary of terms...
It seemed that If I had a different phone I could unlock, but i never really understood why.
Thanks.

Best explanation of wp7 unlocking! Thanks!

Thank you ...
been the subject of a beautiful

Very good explanation from a fellow HD2 owner. Don't just say thanks, press the thanks button. He deserves it

Thanks for the great explanation. Coming from iOS it's very helpful to find all important terms in one go.

Will try and keep up with the custom ROM releases and maintain a list in the sticky. Updated contents today.

v. 000.5b WM6 Essentials ROM for Charmer (8.11.2007 - DISCONTINUED)

WM6 Essentials project DISCONTINUED due to lack of patience with idiots
ROM you have been waiting for. Clean, stable and fast.
This ROM was the reason for ending my previous project with Vlodeck. I started to make it few weaks ago, the day I notticed that clean WM6 has leaked MS labs. I grabbed it and started cooking, throwing all previous progress away. And now, I do not regret.
ROM you have here is the most clean thing you have seen on Charmer. I hope it's also the fastest and the most stable one. All packages that were added to privode aditional functions as camera, mms and others were doublechecked for unnecessary files and registry entries before they were gently inserted inside, tuned and approved.
I tried to remove all possible bugs, but there are few of them that I wasn't able to solve yet:
v. 000.5b WM6 Essentials known bugs
- for the first time after startup, it's sometimes impossible to activate HTC Black theme correctly, switch to Windows Mobile Green, then HTC Black applies correctly (probably tsk file issue)
- power patch correct application is still necessary
- system does not remember word completition set by user - it remembers default settings after reset (defaultly switched off)

Use it only on unlocked devices and if you know what are you doing. Flashing this is easy, but it cannot be done from bootloader. No more comments needed...

Unlock your device, you will avoid problems with flashing and it makes flashing much safer and easier
Unlocking your device brings more comfort and safety. You will never more need to download aditional files - files I'm providing will be enough. It's also almost impossible to totally brick unlocked device - there's allways a way back (if bootloader is not damaged, of course). Locked devices has problems with some common recovery procedures like SD card image flash. If you have locked device, you have a great chance to spend your money to a service company for such simple thing like unlocking is...do it yourself NOW.
Here is the working guide:
http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=437&PN=1
Excellent flashing guide for czech users is available here: http://mda.force17.net, made by Trash. Czech translation of unlocking procedure is here: http://www.ce4you.cz/forums/view_topic.asp?t=24991
This ROM is provided AS IS, with no warranties from me, xda-developers server or other parties. Use it at your own risk. Use it only if you know what are you doing.
If you do not like it, don't use it. Use another one, freely modify this one, do anything you want - but do not bother me with stupid begging like "can you add total commander in this rom" - I can, but I will never do it. The same with HTC X-button, backup apps and other useless but popular junk.
Post non-technical suggestions and ideas here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314776
Let's keep this thread clean with the stuff that's only technically relevant.
PROBLEMS
If somebody has problem others never seen, he:
1) uses some 3rd party software. if I'm asking for this, report ALL 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE, not just one you thing has something to do with error. report all
2) his obscure extrom was executed and some untested cabs, often for other systems, were installed. PREVENT EXTROM EXECUTION even if you think it's harmless.
3) he is using smoe uncommon accessories (gps, handsfree, a2dp.....). Report this
4) his device is damaged. throw it away.
We, charmer owners, are in a big advantage: all devices are the same. No MB revisions, no G3/4 problems.
Common debug procedures if you have an error:
1) try to look if others has the same issue.
2) if not, hardreset device and try if error is still present BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANY OTHER APP
3) if this issue seems to be application sdpecific, install JUST THIS ONE APP and try it. be sure you are installing latest build of your app
4) flash latest official ROM and try your app
5) flash WM6 ROM again and repeat procedures 1 - 3
Previous steps are leading to discover if this is clear system error or is related to any 3rd party app. You will clearly see if it's ROM or application issue. If it's hardware problem, it's harder to say...
If it's ok after HR or new flash, perform following steps to check:
1) leave all settings as they are in defaults (including local settings, timezone etc)
2) if it's app specific, install this app. if not, skip this step.
3) perform step-by-step check: change one thing you usualy do, softreset device and check behaviour (eg. change timezone, softreset and try)
So you will discover hidden error dependencies. Sometimes you will get really surprised what can cause errors...
Hope this simple guide will help you to analyze your charmer errors and will help me to get rid of strange questions...
Error [222]: Device Not Responding
Hi, first of all, many thanks for your job.
I have a problem as soon as I star.
I run ROMUpdateUtility_NoID.exe and when trying to connect to my PDA I get the following error message: ERROR [222]: DEVICE NOT RESPONDING.
My Charmer is connect through the USB connection and activesync is connected.
Anyone has any idea on how I can solve this problem (I´ve tried with other USB ports but nothing... :-( )
Thanks in advance for your help.
For activesync troubleshooting, see http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8525/troubleshooting-guide.html
First, hardreset your charmer. During the meantime, reset your computer - do not connect charmer untill your pc is restarted...hope it helps. You may also try to reinstall activesync - or try it from another computer (it's not necessary to setup activesync partnership to perform rom upgrade)
No booting after update !!
Hello,
i have one question :
I had the wm6 rom : ver 004.4 -=- CHARMER WM6 WWE ROM by vlodeck & nocturne installed on my charmer.. worked fine. No Problems. Today i saw that there is this new one "WM6 Essentials". I flashed my charmer with this new rom and flash method 2 (i also used method 2 for the old wm6 rom). Everythink was ok but after hard reset my charmer stuck at the very first splash screen ( This one where the IPL, SPL and OS Number is beeing displayed). The Phone just did not go on. After another hard reset -> same problem.
I then had lots of problems to get my charmer working again... all the old (even official) rom updates didnt work. But at last i downloaded an obviously newer (than mine) AKKU 3.3 from t-mobile site and was able to flash the device with that one. Now the question : Is it possible that it didnt work because i did not downgrade to an official wm5 rom before upgrading to that new wm6 or do you think that i should not give it a new try because it seems to be another problem ?
many thanks for your answer(s)
If you want flash other WM6 and you have WM6 you *MUST* first downgrade to WM5 and finally flash WM6.
The most successful method has always been to install an official wm5 rom before trying another wm6 rom.
pjam
many thanks for your fast answers.
i tryed it again after downgrading to the official wm5 and now it works fine.
After the flash and saying "Congratulation you flashed it" it died. There goes my charmer to waranty again....

Wery Thanks
NEW version is out, released 21:22 GMT+1
New ROM version is out...
Hello Mr. Nocturne.op.15. IS IT REALLY WORK ON MY QTEK S100?
No, this ROM is working only on charmer and also on microwave ovens. Put charmer inside oven, turn it on to max power and wait until image download from charmer to oven is completed (this is indicated by battery explosion). Enjoy nice pieces of hardware all around your kitchen, they are WM6 powered.
Wrong
This didn't work on my microwave oven at all. I have a Daewoo microwave oven and it is white. All that happens when I try to flash the rom (on full power) is that there is a strange smell and my Charmer stops working. There are sometimes some sparks.
The microwave now won't get past inital boot loading - there is a big while light and I have a TMobile screen and there are pink squares all over the microwave.
Thanks a lot nocturne and vlodeck - I now have a WM6 microwave but the softbuttons don't work properly and they are very hot to touch. And can I have a German version please?
nocturne.op.15!!!! you bastardo! me charmer no work! it smell not good.
littld: I doubt it, there will be a german translation unless someone from germany wants to do it, go ahead
Isn't it possible to use an original German O2 XDA Orbit WM6 and add the charmer drivers / reg entries to it?
Is there anything else to do?

HTC HD2 - Implementing Android

Please excuse my lack of experience on the matter.
But my main confusion comes from after a couple hours well of reading and yet still not quiet understanding.
I'm buying a HD2, but I'm interested in converting it over to the Android platform.
However after watching countless videos and reading endless posts - I think I've scared myself into a not knowing where to start now.
I initially came across some pretty cool links wish sounded helpful (and for the most seemed pretty straight forward)
<Examples>
youtube.com/watch?v=3gUwaJYWrdc
youtube.com/watch?v=Gqedm-sUBc8
youtube.com/watch?v=W6Thh-zHGgo
But then confusion after reading of things like finding out the best radio software suited to my region (which by the way is Trinidad), and HSPL3 and the ROM... I am wondering if I might just end up bricking my phone.
So I found out what the stuff means (as seen below) - but I'm still kinda well overwhelmed.
spl = Secondary Program Loader. Think of this in the same sense as bios on a pc. (it sets where your system boots from, intialises sub system process etc)
sspl = soft spl (this allows you to flash another spl or hardspl).
hardspl = hard spl .. basically it allows flashing of any rom. It protects you from bricking your device. If you have a bad flash it just forces the phone to load into bootloader, from where you can flash another rom using pc or storage card to get your phone working again. Using a hardspl you can flash any carrier rom without cid unlocking your device first.
radio is the part of the rom which manages the attena
Please if anyone is able to shed some light on the best way of me going about brining in the android OS to my HD2 - it would be greatly appreciated (given what ever the lastest most stable build would be)
Regards...
Also, whats the possibility of a dual boot straight from the phone?
people have reported that android works on stock roms so there might not be any need to flash a custom rom....... apparently a radio newer than 2.08.xx..... is required......
See this thread for that debate.....
Even if there is then all you need to do is follow the instructions in the Rom development section stickies and you cant really go wrong......
If you have a tmous hd2 then you might want to follow the instructions in the tmous section to avoid any potential radio mismatch problems......
Running android is as easy as putting a folder on your SD card and tapping two files in the right order........
Ok there might be quite a bit of trial and error in finding a build you like/works well....
And yes there are programs out there that will give you the option to choose between WM and Android on startup.....
personally I'd reccomend mskips version which you can find in the themes and apps section.........
Happy fiddling......
Thank you so much for the post and for the link you included to the guide.
I have seen a lot of useful information from just there alone. It's appreciated.
One thing I didn't quite follow however, was when you said 'tmous' hd2.
I'm assuming this is an abbreviation for a carrier of some sort?
The one I'm supposed to be getting is an unlocked version btw...
tmous = (T)-(Mo)bile (US) version as it has the 1GB ROM in it; the Euro version only has 512MB.

As br0adband said above, tmous just refers to the american version of the HD2,
its easy to spot as it has a big fat double chin, tmobile written under the earpiece and green/red buttons to dial/hangup.......
if thats the version that you end up with then you should make sure any rom/radio your flashing is "tmous compatible".......
the wrong radio can kill it....... just stay away from anything with ".51." in the name.....
Good luck for when it arrives...... expect a lot of late nights tweaking.......
if you are sure you'll use android, why do you buy a windows phone?
i think thats nonsense...
just buy a desire hd and be happy.

+1...That makes no sense. Unlike the rest of us, we bought the HD2 knowing what it was all about, then later found that Android would be possible later.
Buying HD2 a year later knowing that you want to convert to Android is silly. Or it is because the HD2 might be cheaper than the newer HTC Anroid phones?
You have missed most of the fun there was in seeing the HD2 develope; from custom ROMs, to Cookies Home Tab, to Android etc etc. Jumping in now after all the blood, sweat and (tears) has taken place probably wouldnt provide you with the same level as enjoyment as I believe that the HD2 is running out of steam. Although there is the possibilty of WPS7 on NAND plus Android to consider.
The main reason for opting for the HD2 is that the price is alot more reasonable for me at this time. The specs are obviously better on the Desire HD and while the original Desire also already has the android platform, their prices are a little more steep for me as they came out just this year alone.
So during my searching around I came across this thread titled:
[GUIDE]The ULTIMATE n00bs guide to the HD2-HardSPL, Android, ROMs, Radios and more!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808015
It seemed really detailed and what not - However, it clearly stated that it was solely for the T-Mobile (US Version) and not Internationally Unlocked ones.
Is there a similar thread where this might be found?
I don't see why it should be specific to the tmous, the only thing to watch out for is the potential radio mismatch... .

Ok so within the this time which I am still just eagerly anticipating the arrival of my HD2 (which by the way is my first smart phone ) - I've continued to read more threads and posts, but some confusion still seems to exists on the various topics for terms for me.
For instance - I seem pretty clear on the fact that getting an android build on my HD2 is as simple as picking a ROM and then extracting the files correctly to my SD card and run the CLRCAD & the Haret files. - So then why I am still so confused...?
I think the main reason stems from a fear of not wanting to destroy my first modernized phone.
But aside from the basic process I briefly stated above, I have no idea what would be required of me to make the best of my modd-ing procedure.
I have seen links including a 1GB data.img dowloand - what is this for exactly?
I have read and understood that there are advantages of implementing HSPL on your device - but how does it fit into the already 'simplified' 4 step process listed above whereby you just download, extract and run the 2 files?
(...further to that whats the difference between HSPL, HSPL2 & HSPL3 - aside from updated versions I assume, would there be a reason for opting to use an older version?)
How do I determine if I am going to need to change my Radio version from what would already be included within a ROM I select? - and similar to my HSPL inquiry
(What's the main difference between the radio versions?
Wouldn't the highest number [most recent version] be the best?)
Further random (yet related...) questions:
RUU - Would it be necessary or make modd-ing any easier?
cotulla - Is this a single developer or a developer group?
NAND - Is this basically the main memory which holds the OS? - If so is there an actual way to now startup with Android on the HD2 - without WM starting at all and without any user interaction what so ever?
And finally...
When I eventually get my HD2 in hand, is there any information or details specific from my phone, which if provided could make it a easier to receive help on my goal?
If someone takes time to answer my questions - Thanks much in advance!

ok, where to start..... lol
il answer briefly because im posting from my device.....
your 4 step process is solid. no problems there.
you cannot brick your device with android.
the data.img is basically a file that pretends to be the phones internal storage, so if you download the 1gb file when you run android your phone will think it has 1gb of internal storage (things will obviously just be stored on your sd card, it doesn't actually affect your devices memory)
theres not much point worrying about the radio until you get the device and see which one you have, chances are it wont need to be changed.
unless your changing the rom/radio you wont need to use hspl
cotulla is widely regarded as being the driving force behind these kind of things, obviously there were/are lots of talented people involved but cotulla is probably the name your most likely to see being mentioned.
ruu - software tool that alows you to flash a rom.
included with stock roms, custom roms require a custom ruu but it is usually bundled in with the rom
nand - you pretty much nailed it, its not yet available though
when you get the device post the info from the settings - about phone/software info
hope that helps and sorry if I missed anything.....
Thanks a lot for your response!

After my long anticipated wait - It has arrived.
Here are my initial specs:
OS version
5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)
Manilla version
2.5.20121412.2
ROM version
2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE
ROM date
04/28/10
Radio version
2.10.50.26
Protocol version
15.39.50.07U
Any advice?
Your Radio is above the minimum requirement for linux to boot so you're good to go. Download an android build you like the looks of from the Android Development section and extract the Android folder and place it in the root of your SD card.
Run CLRCAD then HaRET or get an android boot loader like THIS, THIS, or THIS to make the process easier.
Okay so after using my HD2 a bit on and off over the past 3 days or so - switching between Windows & Android, I'll summarize:
First off, the android build which I am currently running off of my sd card is:
darkstone HD2Froyo v1
Release date: 26.07.2010
Its pretty decent and all but, I have a problem that I keep on encountering and I'm not quite sure whether its just me (something I didn't figure out) or if its an incompatibly issue with my current WindMo ROM (2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE) or something. Or maybe just a glitch / bug in the build itself
I can't seem to get back access to my desktop at times once I open a browser (or some other apps / games as well); even after I attempt to close it off.
...One just simply reopens once I close off the last one...
This inability to regain access to my desktop at that point means I have no further access to any further applications either unless I start over. (or unless its an app which was previously opened - as I can then hold down the home button to see recently (previously) opened apps.
I'm wondering if I should try another build? (any suggested ones?! / any known problems with this build)
Also as my version is an unlocked T-mobile phone - would it be wise to follow through with an upgrade on the ROM from T-mobile's site?
T-Mobile HD2 MR Software (Version 3.14.531.1)
http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobi....aspx?pid=leo2
EDIT:
I'm also the following message constantly and I'm thinking it might have something to do with the problem I'm getting.
This version of LauncherPro Beta has expired. Please go to http://www.launcherpro.com/ to get the latest version.
No suggestions...
I was simply copping some music across from my pc to HD2 with ActiveSync and I think I didn't d/c properly. Now my HD2 won't start up.
It just freezes on the Stick Together screen
(which contains the ROM, Radio info below)
I attempted to reset with the small red button, I tried pulling the battery completely. It still just comes back to that screen once I place the battery back in and FREEZES.
Attempted to go into bootloader by:
Taking out the battery. Placing it back in.
Press volume down, while pressed press the power button.
The colored screen comes up:

SPL-2.10.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50

TMobile ROM to HTC ROM change - info Please!

Hi all
I've had a search through the re-developed ROM's and to be perfectly open, I don't understand much about them.
I recently had a plain HTC HD2 and very happy with it for what I use it for, I don't need any fancy add on's and bits etc, just my Co-pilot and keeping my contacts and notes upto date.
That handset was lost and the insurance didn't have any HD2 replacements in stock. The Desire they sent instead has been sold, and I've purchased a T Mobile version of another HD2.
Is it a simple case of downloading and installing the official HTC ROM for the handset and doing a ROM update?
Apologies if this is a simple query etc!
Cheers, Dennis!
no, no no nonono.
assuming you mean a tmobile us model (1024 rom, green send key) then no, if you flash a non tmous stock rom (any stock rom that isn't for the tmous) onto that phone it will die. brick. dead, because of the ..51.. radio they include.
You may get some cooked roms that are on a base of lower than 2.x, but have been tweaked for the 576ram , and they will work on your phone, but its a very risky game to play.
Far better to follow the two rules..,
only ever flash tmous stock roms,
and
cooked roms that SPECIFICALLY say tmous compatible in the title and post 1 of that roms thread..
Hiya
Samsamuel, thanks for the info there. I'll update with more information! I'm technical, but not with smartphones to the level some of you guys here!
I'm in the UK, and it's a UK TMobile handset that I bought. I've already had the handset 'unlocked' so that I can use my O2 SIM, which is working etc.
From the handset
OS Version - 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87)
Manila Version - 2.5.20121429.0
ROM version - 1.72.110.4 (86525) WWE
ROM date - 04/02/10
Radio Version - 2.07.51.22_2
Protocol version - 15.32.50.07U
So, would it be ok to update to the normal HTC ROM?
Cheers, Dennis!
Ah ok in that case there is no need to mention that it is a t mobile phone, just confuses the issue.
Yes the regular update will work fine once happy is applied.
Thanks once again SamSamuel,
However, what's meant by 'once happy is applied' ?
Is that one of these hacks or special ROM things?
When I do a search, so many results come back containing the word 'happy' I have no idea where or what to look for!
Is there a thread which explains how to apply 'happy'?
Apologies for the vagueness!!
Cheers, Dennis!
lol, thats the android spell correction and me not proof reading before i post. should be HSPL
Hiya
To me, anything that's typed up 'could' potentially be what I need to do! I wouldn't know the difference!!
So, I've had a search for HSPL - I see it mentioned, but alas, I have no clue what it is, where to get it from, what to do with it when I get it!
Is there any straightforward points on what and where to get this HSPL, how to use it ?
I know I can download the HTC official ROM from their website, so that part I think I know what to do as I upgraded my last HD2.
Cheers, Dennis!
ok, hspl. Get HSPL2_RUN.zip from HERE, (you can follow instructions that say hspl or hspl3, theyre all the same, except for what phones they support, , hspl2 is teh most usefull for regular hd2 owners)
phone into bootloader and connect usb, (when you read 'get an active sync connection', , forget that, it doesnt mean actual active sync, just a usb connection)
get hspl2, run it, in the dropdown is a list of spl and hspl versions. if it ends .0000 its stock, if it ends .hspl its,,,,,, hspl.
choose 2.08.hspl, follow the prompts. if it doesnt work, run the hspl prog again, if it still doesnt work (timeout/connection errors) change usb ports and try again. no need to touch teh phone, just leave it in bootloader all the time.
once bootloader says spl 2.08.hspl you are good to go.
BUT
if you are planning to flash the 3.14 rom, , , you can't do it this way.
3.14 wont work on any spl/hspl except 3.03.0000 and there is no way to get 3.03.0000 except goldcard.
Hiya
Samsamuel - seems you're the only one willing to help me here! so I really appreciate it !
I know i've got to do 'things' from what you've said there, but I have no idea on how to do it! - give me some financial IT related stuff I'm good! ask me to do bootloaders and potential goldcard and run files and connect - I'm lost! I don't want to try things in case I 'brick' the handset!
The ROM I want is listed on the HTC downloads section for the HD2. It's dated 25th January 2010
Details are
ROM Version:
Norway:1.66.409.1, Spain :1.66.412.1, Denmark:1.66.403.1, France :1.66.406.1,
Sweden:1.66.413.2, Italy:1.66.408.1, WWE:1.66.405.2, France Bouygues: 1.66.483.0
So, if I somehow manage to do this HSPL thing, will I not be able to install the HTC ROM? I have no idea where or what the '3.14' ROM is?
Apologies for sounding really vague - I've never got into all the modified ROM's and stuff for smartphones. I've only ever needed to switch on, use the phone, install my GPS software and keep my contacts and notes syncronised. I'm just used to the HD2 I had as it was a case of straightforward use. This T mobile version is 'different'!
Anyone else able to help alongside everything SamSamuel has kindly provided so far? please?!!
Cheers, Dennis!
warning
Its best for you if you do not try to update your phone. Either get used to it or just sell it. There are rom update tutorials on this site. Just search for rom update tutorial, if you must try. The official htc software is not for this phone, if you install it, your phone will no longer work, and you wont be able to fix it.
No, its ok so long as you have a regular hd2 locked to t mobile as discussed in earlier posts.
Just to double confirm, if your phone has green send key, then STOP DANGER
But I think we're dealing with white send key, so normal hd2, and the target Tom isn't 3.14
So,,,
assuming white end key.
Phone backed up and off
Press hold keep holding volume down
Tap and release power keep holding volume down
When striped coloured screen appears
Plug in USB
On PC run hspl2
In dropdown choose 2.08.hspl
When it completes and phone starts to reboot immediately hold volume down again to return to stripey screen (bootloader)
When says USB at the bottom and split at top says 2.08.hspl run the .exe you downloaded from HTC
If you get connection errors, timeouts, leave the phone and just swap USB ports. When running hspl.exe right click it and "run as administrator"
(That's the last time I'm gonna write those out in full, there must be 500 identical step by steps and half as many YouTube vids. )
If your send key is green DO NOT DO THIS

Here is my attempt at a tutorial
Step 1: take anything important off your phone (Pictures Videos Music Etc) Because installing all this stuff will erase your phone completely
Step 2: Go and read the first post in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647
Once you have read it, READ IT AGAIN!, because if you flash that to your phone and its not compatible you will BRICK YOUR PHONE.
Once you are sure that your phone is compatible with the RSPL/HSPL download it and use the included tools to flash it to your phone. You will need to put your phone in bootloader mode to install that. To do this you will turn the phone off completely then press power + the volume down button to get to your boot loader screen it will be red green blue and white.
Connect your phone start the RSPL app and follow the steps to the letter, once this is down download the rom posted in this thread.
Step 3: Flash the rom posted in this thread by using the same steps. Power off the phone, then press power + volume down button when you see the bootloader start the flashing process. You will get a progress bar let it go through until the phone reboots.
Step 4: Enjoy a truly amazing rom on your Surrond, thank you so much DFT.
HTC update?
Got this "update" last night, does anybody know what it does???
Don't update. Your phone will become a brick if you update.
I tested. There are a few minor bugs eg: Errors column waves 3G,misspelled in the About
Model: HTC Mondrian
Carrier: HTC Sunnound T8788
Thank so much.
hello
When you unzip the file gives error unknown format or damaged

I have mango. therefore i understand i cannot change the rom am i right?
on the 3 colour screen i get the following:
PD26100 SS-BC (4K)
SPL-4.3.2250.0(128976) MNG
MicroP(LED) 0x09
TOUCH C1(v69)
Am I stuck on Mango?
Downgrade????
this is correct do not use the rspl/hspl if the numbers for the versions do not match
I had originally installed mango using the disconnect trick what I needed to do to install this was use the stock rom for my phone/provider to downgrade first for me it was Telus my provider, I found the rom here to put me back to pre-nodo like the phone was fresh out of the box.
THEN I was able to do the rspl/hspl then the DFT rom.
Also check under your battery for the model ID and verify its compatible with those posted in the RSPL/HSPL thread the model ID on my phone is PD26110 I can confirm with a pre-nodo rom and that model ID the rspl/hspl and the dft rom work perfectly
hello
someone upload the rom to another server and that gives me this error or damaged

[Q] Advice needed: how to upgrade 60+ HD2

Thanks to the many useful guides in these forums, I have unlocked my HTC_Leo, switched carriers, updated the radio and stock ROMs, installed a custom ROM, edited various settings in the registry, and replaced the boot splash screen with my company's logo. As a noob, I am so proud of myself and grateful for the time and expertise of the experienced users in these forums.
The HD2 is now getting a longer battery life, and seems to be more stable than before, which will make my end users happier - once I perform similar tasks on their HD2s.
Question: how would you go about updating >60 similar phones so that when finished, they all share the same build, look, and feel?
Is there a way to image the phone or do I have to (remember and) create a manual update procedure for every ROM/setting/tweak?
thanks for your time.
Install same custom ROM & radio to all HD2s (take some care here if have TMUS & EU HD2s), use SPB backup if running WM or one of many backup & image options of Android to image setup device then restore the image to all devices so settings & custom setup is identical between all.
This method works fine & we used it for over 6years on all our HTC company handsets, was & still is used on our 24 fleet HD2's on WM6.5.3 ...
