[MOD][zipalign] ultra Theme Status Bar Widget: Dim/25%/40% + Dim/15%/25% - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hello guys,
I want to share the following. This is my mod of sj8023ld which i expanded the selection of Brightness Widget to Dim/25%/40% to suit Xperia Ray's screen characteristic (40% is already bright enough for Outside view IMHO so i set it max at that). Off course you still can use any other default selection. I just want to extend the choice so we can manage brightness more effective. It is compatible with .42 and .62 firmware. Don't know about any other. Please report if you do have it run successfully on another firmware.
thanks to sj8023ld for the mod
AND
thanks to rablex for the theme
Updated 2/1/12: rablex one is zipaligned now to reduce ram usage. Please redownload.
Updated 1/20/12: added dim/15/25 for those who needs even dimmer light.
Updated: Option 2 issue is fixed too. Please redownload from below
Download the file here
with your Root Explorer, copy SystemUI.apk to /system/ folder for now.
Change Permissions to rw-r--r-- from Root Explorer(Press and hold item, select Permissions)
Move the SystemUI.apk to /system/app/. Overwrite when asked.
Install the QuickSetting.apk as an usual app.
Reboot to see changes, run QuickSetting from Drawer to change options.
Say thanks to sj8023ld at link above for the original one.
G'day!
Old File:
Added Option 2 Fix + Ultra Transparent Theme here
Added Option 4 Dim/25/40here

Thanks, works
Using Kernel+ROM REPACK4PDA v.7 by aire. Can you mod this status bar which has the same bug with brightness control?
Edit: Oops sry, didn´t know I just have to replace the images. So I did it myself. Anyway, thx again. May be you can mod the 3rd setting (Auto/Dim/25/50/75/100) to work like it should. Currently 25% switches brightness to 40%.

hi hansip87,
would like to ask if it is the transparent notification bar or the normal one?
thank for the mod, i'll certainly try it tomorrow

Ou i thought that my algorithm was not quite good because when i simulated the algorithm by translating the codes, they are indeed wrong, but i haven' tried that one in RL ok hope i can resolve that later.
UPDATE: Please download from first page again. It is fixed now
@mike: this is a normal one. Because in transparent one, the basic date display when pressed is removed because of the transparency issue with the icon. I don't want that so i chose the normal one.

Will the icons be the same as those of I want to share the following. sj8023ld thread? Because I am using this MOD, I use the ULTRA version icons for they look great.

Do you mean that you want the Ultra theme to be here as well? Well, personally i like the original style, rather than the green lit widget. But someday maybe..

I have Quick settings panel as mod for status bar... Don't you think it will kill that mod?

If u use the same original mod as mine from sj8023ld, nothing is removed.
It is two related apps between quick panel and systemui.apk, but the main logic resides on systemui.apk. Quick panel only for storing user preference(which I mod too, to give additional stepping). While system ui sets brightness depending on what level selected from the save data of quick panel. If you are using the ultra themed mod, unfortunately it will be gone sorry.

Can you:
- adjust it to Dim/20%/40% to better suit Xperia Ray screen,
- use the icons from Ultra theme, especially for brightness?
thanks!

20% and 25% is just too small of difference. Sorry mate didn't see the necessity.
About ultra theme, I could build that one. But I think I need to learn both version first. Sure they are from the same source, but surely there are some differences (like text label). Anyway check out later.

Could you please consider 15 vs 25 then? As a separate entry? 25 is just too bright to me. Indoors, even 15% is OK.
And thanks for the Ultra theme consideration. It matches better the SE phone in call buttons.
Z

First post updated, now with Ultra Theme with transparency from rablex. say thanks to rablex for the theme.
As of additional brightness toggle level, i need some time to order the algorithm again. Check in later guys.

Updated again, Option Dim/15/25 is added.

could you adjust it to Dim/40%
thx

What I really wanted is Dim/15/40:
Dim for night work,
15 for indoors work,
40 for outdoors.

Hmm i don't think I'll add another one. The script is complicated with conditional branches. So with additional level it will be too hard to solve. If only I can develop more flexible checkboxes instead radio choices like in CM. Thank you for understanding.

No need for new entry, just update the new one, you added for me, changing last value 25 -> 40.
I think you misunderstand me in the first place.
Btw Download failed for Ultra mod.

Statusbar Widget by sj8023ld, working screentime out

Hi, I'm helping my friend sj8023ld to post his new product, more info will be later.
*Flashlight may make the statusbar force close, select "hide on change" to solve this.
*The icons of screentime out don't fit the others, hoping someone can edit it
Remove auto focus from ledcontroller.smali to avoid flashlight force close.
Btw, nice addition. I'll try to port this to Ray. Ofc credit will be given to sj8023ld and you

It does works on Ray, both function. You can have it from my mod on my signature. The only removed line is the autofocus inside on() function at the ledcontroller.smali in order to prevent force close when toggling flashlight too fast.

So here we are
I've made some visual tweaks (new Timeout icon, changed Silent icon and intermediate indicator). Screenshot attached.
I've also changed icons with specific timing (see another screenshot) but they are not used by app. sj8023ld, is it possible to get them used by the app? I am not experienced in .smali editing and can't make it by myself...
Does anyone know if this SystemUI.apk will work with the flamemo Xperia S mod?
I tried it and it works fine with the Xperia S theme.
Is it possible to get a version that doesn't have a transparent notification area? That would be fantastic!

It does that occasionally for me too. Guess that's the downside of it being an app instead of systemui mod. But at least it works.
Also if you want the gps / nfc to be direct toggles and you have root. Make a system app of it: http://vps201.fra05-inx03.webhod.de/thomas/j4velin_development/dl-root.php?app=nt
/edit: in the settings of the app there is a toggle "display in the on-going no notifications section". Seem like if you uncheck it, it will be moved back to the top.
It looks pretty nice too. The CM9 icons you can download from within the app fit the xps theme pretty well:
Yeah I have it as a system app and use the CM icons.

That doesn't seem to make any difference for me. It still drops below most new notifications. Ah well, it'll do until some modded SystemUI's start to appear.

I have most the firmware deodexed already to do notification toggles plus do power button restart / reboot to cwm.
I can upload the deodexed framework/res and android.policy jars when I get home so we can do the above.
Having trouble deodexing qcrilhook.odex tho.
Edit: These are NOT pre-modded, just stock ready for your modding pleasure.

-android.policy.jar
-framework-res.apk
-framework.jar
-SystemUI.apk

thanks mate but pls can u upload them to box or something else the framework res are damaged i really need them!

Another great app for showing toggles in the notification area is Power Controls: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
Unlike Notification toggle, it DOES stay above other notifications. Pretty awesome all round.

If you're just looking for an app to add notification widgets I use "elixir 2" it does this and more, I've just got resource monitoring activated temp, cpu, mem, sdcard, internal etc on the notification bar but u can add buttons and apps etc also.

same problem here! but i have an idea, i cannot test because i'm at work! since SystemUI.apk is framework dependent we must deodex the framework files first ! if you have some time to test let me know if it works!

There are a few good tutorials about I use:

I suspect you'll need the SemcGenericUxpRes.apk framework file as dependency when decompiling.

i wouldn't call it imposible. picture this: an app made by you running directly from android. you can select everything as you like and preview as you like. you can even select a custom background of your own (how cool is that), then, after you have selected everything, that app generates the zip, and you flash it.plus, it gets better, the app can have updates with new keyboard styles and everything. ofcorse this would require more programming, but you could eventually even add that app in the playstore and if it gets popular you can have it work for other devices as well.
edit: I would like to set a purple background that would have the purple color, yahoo's purple since I mainly use it for messaging. also a background lightblue skype color would be nice.
edit2: btw I think there's an error on the Auto-Correct selection, the first two options have identical description.
edit3: for anyone that would like a custom wallpaper to the keyboard, I presume you can do that, entering the zip file and photoshoping files found in this folder with the ones you like. TNi605AnyDPISamsungIMEAroma.zip\kbbg\redbullbg\res\

I can add common app colors if you'd like as far as an app. .um mm don't really want to get into that lol. .and there is no typo.. one says with "short press delay" and the other says "stock press delay"
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
you're right, no typo. concerning the colors, no need for extra options for me, I will install photoshop and modify that redbull theme to my liking. again, great job. thanks. but concerning the users that don't want to spend time into photoshop, here's a thing you can do, see if you can do another kind of installer, one that has best combinations, so that no mater what combination of colors you choose, you're always ending with an awesome result. I ended up with really weird results for example when selecting purple twice.
edit: something's missing from the keyboard. I flashed the s4white keyboard before flashing this one and I think this is the reason why transparency doesn't work for the background. when I select the totally transparent background, the result is a black one. even though i checked, the files contained in the transparent nebula theme are indeed transparent. how can I fix this?
edit2: wait, actually it is transparent, just that there are certain apps that place a black background beneath the keyboard

Lol the best combinations. . Everyone likes different things and if, for instance, I put purple background, black text and black keys and someone chooses those options it won't look good.. but if they choose what I laid out for a request.. The purple/silver theme.. it should look pretty good
Yea the background with transparency all relates to certain apps.. so apps that call theme.holo will be transparent but if they call theme.holo.light or an app has a certain custom color it will call those.. There is no way, I think, I would be able to fix this unless you modify all the apps and that is not going to happen:thumbup:

In the future I hope to add the option to put the text to the left of the clock instead. The module can be found in the Xposed repo and I will also attach the APK to this post.

You can add option .. Which
Makes Center clock .. And make the text on the left ..you should also .. Add option to changr font .. Like i want to make text with XDA font ... Via locating it in SD card .. Not by installing it on ROM ...
Thanks for your work ... Waiting for more .

It's basically hooking onto the clock. Here's mine on the Nexus 5.
It would be cool if a Hide Clock option could be added.

Care to provide source on a git or something, this app intrigues me. Would like to help out too.
Taking into consideration all that had been said, the next update will add the option to hide clock, change colour, and add text to left instead of right. The update will be released today or tomorrow

Nice idea!
Hmm how about a carrier label feature in the status bar something like in mokee roms or AT&T devices op?
@hamzahrmalik doesn't work on gingerbread, log attached.& btw why should it need internet permission?? & also it prompts supersu permission too! AFAIK, only xposed installer needs supersu permission, not the modules! :/
Maybe you add option for carrier name in the future?

Internet: for ads
Superuser: probably for restarting the SystemUI so you don't have to reboot (just guessing, not OP)

I think Dapil has answered your question regarding permissions. As for gingerbread compatibility, I will try to fix thanks for letting me know. It is the weekend so it'll be done soon
