[Q] Unlock / jailbreak HTC RADAR - HTC Radar

I have a very dumb question....Where can I find the guide to unlock/jailbreak the radar so I can install apps not in the market??
I did search and found this chevron thing but its about a year old, dont know if it applies to the RADAR.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

There currently isn't any way to unlock the Radar or any 2nd gen HTC WP7. I'm anxiously waiting for this, would love to install the screen capture app on mine.

uhm....whats interop??

Don't know why my last comment didn't show, damn xda app!
But, interop unlocking gives you/an app access to certain drivers locked down by MS, usually reserved for OEM's or partners.
Currently their is no way to interop unlock any 2nd gen HTC devices like our Radar or Titans. For now us 2nd gen HTC owners are stuck with stock phones. Unless you have a developer account, student account, or purchase a chevron token.

So what does the Chevron token do? Will it work on the Radar?

Well the Chevron Token unlocks the phone to sideload a set number of apps, 10 I think. It should work fine on the Radar. But they're currently "sold out". They will hopefully be able to sell more, it's only $10. It doesn't interop unlock the phone, but interop unlock usually isn't necessary unless you really want to change registry values or fully unlock your phone for some homebrew apps that require fully unlocked phones.

My girlfriend also waiting for Jailbreak because she wants to use Advance Config.
Is there any way to deploy an Registry Editor to the Radar?

No. All 2nd gen devices are locked down hard.

i'm interested too.

If you create a DreamSpark account through Microsoft, you can dev-unlock your phone for free. You just need a functioning .edu email address. Just Google "Microsoft DreamSpark" and you should see the website where you can create (and then verify) your account. I can't post the link because I'm a new member.

I found this thread and hoping this student account stuff is still valid. So I just created and verified my info. Now where would I even begin to unlock/jailbreak the Radar?

i hate microsoft so much.
i've found so much more power in linux, and android, and i just don't understand how microsoft is even in business....
i got the radar (for free, from the mschallange), and i think its designed for complete idiots...i am sooo disappointed

[Q] £5 for Windows 7 Upgrade for HTC HD2

Hi Everyone,
Please comment and contribute to the poll.
Question is whether you would pay £5 to recieve a windows 7 upgrade for HTC HD2
This poll and the comments made are going to be used as a petition to try and get HTC to release an upgrade for all us HD2 owners.
I'm pretty sure that HTC would release an upgrade if people paid for it so please comment and answer the poll
Thanks Everyone
i voted NO because i hate an os that doesn't let you change stuff ( at least thats what the latest news was on that )
after 6.5 i'll turn to Android
As long as I can still hax it and have Android.

Indeed, someone would have to pay me a heck of a lot more than £5 to have WP7
I'd say no on the basis they've stated it won't happen, I'd imagine it'll cost more than £5 per user at their end also
first of all I voted no! even if HTC will pay me 600€ ,I don't will WP7
Fore doing what? first of al I don't like the UI (if we can speak of a UI)
secondly it's to limited.
ow fore give you a answer, HTC wouldn't release a official ROM update fore the HD2 To WP7! It's not authorized by Windows. there are strict ruels.
But you will find cooked roms here.
i dont see whats so special about W7
I had alredy paid 755€ why should I pay 5€ more or should not
but I prefer to donate 10€ to XDA when NAND is realised. (I'm likly hearing your voices -why 10€- because I'm just a simple student)
You REALLY think HTC will take notice of a little petition like this - especially when they've just announced their line of WP7 devices? lol
Really, what is the point of this thread.
If you're that desperate to have 7 on your HD2, just wait for a hacked ROM to appear (then enjoy it's limited functionality!)
No never
Why?
Because i didn't have a credit card lol
And 1thing
U know ,actually i'll be going to NAND Android
WP7 is bull****
if they let me dual boot back to WM 6.5.x yeah

No. More than one reason, but one of the main reasons is: TETHERING
tethering is supported
No tethering in WP7

Not according to this post on CNET...
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-20017576-56.html
I would pay. I don't see how so many can be against an OS they've never used. You've seen videos. That's it. I liked WM 6.5. I didn't like Android until I thoroughly used it. I'll invest $8 to give a new OS a shot.
However, this exercise is moot. If HTC released this on HD2 they would have to support it.
Microsoft would never license it on a phone that doesn't meet Win Phone 7 specs.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
I wouldn't.
I don't trust MS enough that they will support this OS for more than a year or two.
Android has support across the world.
what? no multitasking? no nothing i should say, i thought microsoft would do something extraordinary with WM7 to catch up with android, instead they copied and pasted the 1st iphone version.
Finallt i say WINDOWS MOBILE IS DEAD, LONG LIVE ANDROID.
definitely yes
I absolutely would pay 5 pound to upgrade my HD2
As long as it will not effect on the android Os.
5 pound would be nothing comparing to have a completely new OS.
always trying new thing is good. so, Why Not ????????

1.5 milyar'mi, oha. Türkiye pahalli be kardes
OT: This thread is totally useless, do you really think HTC will consider this? Devs are currently working on it, so you'd better ask whether people would donate developers if they would have managed to get WP7 working on the HD2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSRFA4eYhw8
Maybe if Microsoft received a few emails that most HD2 users will jump to android then maybe they will think twice about it and force HTC to do a free upgrade. Regarding £5 its not too much to pay but it should be free.

Ok that's bad, for navigation i will use my HD2 again with Navigon.
Thanks so far!
Nokia Drive works fine for me
Yeah, what is wrong with Nokia Drive? Is it because you still need a data connection when running? They will release an update soon that should fix this for full offline routing...
What's the use of a smartphone without data anyway? Nokia Drive doesn't use much bandwidth to look up the directions. Everything else is already stored on the phone.
It depends if you are in area with a connection. I found it baffling that I downloaded the maps and then still had to be connected!
Wil
M8, The Lumia in the app department... is weak as ****, I've spent about £100 on apps which i've already got for free on other phones, it makes me sick.
The one which pushed me over the edge is the Sonos app, free on every other platform!!! And it's actually called "Sonos", on windows phone, it's called "Phonos" and it was £7.99p haha, that's a joke, at the rate i was going, i could have bought 6 Lumia's in the space of a year.
I'm sorry but with that in mind I would rather spend my money on something i'm going to enjoy, something which if i want to, i can download an app and try it out and remove it if i don't, i can assign a ringtone to whatever the hell i like, because it's my bloody music, so i bought an evo 3d, best phone i've ever used.
And for the record, Nokia drive sucks ass, major ass, Co-Pilot Live 8 with speed cameras built in, now that's a sat nav, no need for data, just GPS, locks in about 5 seconds.
The lumia came close, and it made me love it, but then it made me hate it, give it cash and eventually resent it, sad really.
I'm giving my Lumia away, it's boxed downstairs, i have no need for it.
You do realise that the Sonos app, 'Phonos' is not official, and that's why it's cost a ton rather than free? It's someone making money while Sonos get their act in gear.
Don't like the Nokia maps, want Navigon as on my HD2, very good app (premium version!).
What if you are i a different country like Belgium or Germany, don't wanna roam costst a lot (-;

For free obviously because Navigon is in the Marketplace.
If you use it a lot, it's only normal to pay for the software.
yep but with every other device i had i must buy new navigation software.
I have TomTom & Sygic but they don't develop on WP7, so you are a brave one and buy everything? don't use XDA cracked roms, xapfile install and many other options here provided?

Free USB Tool Unlock?

..
I tried using the software. It seems you need some sort of "box" that the team sells. This looks pretty popular is the Asias it looks like. Anyways, no matter what I do, the software never connects to the phone, always just says waiting for box connection. Was going to unlock my phone that I'm selling on Ebay. Oh well, lol.
you won a free $500 phone.... why don't you just pay $25 for an unlock code from cellunlocker.
My Norton antivirus removed the download because it saw it as a virus. Major fail on this one. Yes, too good to be true. And if there was a free unlock for the Note it would be all over the place.

Microsoft Security Essentials people. Its free (just google it), provided by microsoft and is very lightweight. Doesnt take over your machine and make it run like garbage.
ROOT and/or UNLOCK @ one of many websites = cheaper and less HEADACHE
I have been using UNLOCKED GSM [Phones & dongles] since 80s ...never had any issues

>note = ICS and Jelly Bean OTA ( able to switch from work to home use in mins)
>asus T700 andriod on ICS ( rooted ) with Dongle for 4G via ATT
> Thinkpad T230 Tablet = Linux (play) + win x64 (work) ............FYI = that USB 'dongle' cost me $1.24 free ship and works nciely.on my note, tablet(s) and get 35m+ speeds
So all this 'debate' about UNLOCK gadgets USB tools , Remote login unlock = far to dangerious for me
The resources in this forum is amaazin .... just search and read ... if stuck ASK and be polite !

Nokia should do the same.

Saw an article on xda dev today. http://www.xda-developers.com/android/asus-releases-official-tf700t-bootloader-unlocker-tool/
So, why doesent Nokia do the same, realese an unlocker tool for those who would like to customise their phones. Simple or what. Iwould gladly refute the warranty for custom roms.
And maybe,, it would increase the sale numbers. You just have to give peaople the right to choose.
1. a nice windows phone with developers applications,
or
2. windows phone with no warranty , and you can do what ever you want with it.
What do you thin?
Dream on...
Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Never going to happen I'm afraid, android devices get official unlocker tools mainly because of the openness of the OS and the open source project, but windows prides itself on having a super tight closed system, which for security reasons is great but for us people who want a bit more from our devices is very bad news.

Well, its a case of waiting and hoping, but with android, they will most of the time be unlocked relatively quickly and wont ever be shut off like wp7, and it takes a lot of work and time to crack a wp7 bootloader. I had a HTC Titan that had no activity at all here on xda so I got rid of it, and what do you know, 3 months later it gets unlocked and custom ROMs. So I'm just going to stick with my 800 and pray someone will manage to get our boot loader unlocked. I don't want to lose out again .

I have to say, I am one of the few that would not be happy with something like this, I purchased my Lumia 800 because of it being secure.
But on the flip side, I do not see anything like this happening, microsoft pride themselves on their secure operating system for phones, much like apple (ever noticed how there have never been any such unlock tools for apple devices, only third party ones using exploits). With closed source operating systems comes a much more closed environment.

Diving In - Development Suggestions

I have been out of the Windows development scene since Windows Mobile 6.5 and have just picked up a Nokia Lumia 920 and am itching to jump back in with augmenting the app availability. I trolled through the Microsoft WP8 site and am ready to pull the trigger on their dev program.
Before doing that, I wanted to check in here to see how other's foray into this has gone, since WP8 is so new. I have my Windows 8 Pro PC setup with VS 2012 and am in the process of pulling in the SDK.
Any words of wisdom, gotch yas, etc. from folks already down the rabbit hole?

I'm hoping to get involved in Windows Phone 8 development myself since the app market seems brimming with opportunity, although I was a bit disappointed that it seems like you have to have windows 8 to use the windows phone 8 SDK (unless there is another version I couldn't find). I'll have to wait until my next pay check before I can purchase a new copy of Windows 8.
In the meantime, has anyone been able to get the tethering option working on a locked off contract at&t phone? I'm using mine with Straight Talk, which allows tethering, but the ROM loaded on my AT&T nokia blocks users from tethering. Is there anyway of bypassing that via hack, or by loading firmware from a different region?
