Rom manager - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Hi everyone, I recently installed rom manager I am rooted and s-off'ed on honeycomb. Just wanted to know how I can get rom manager to recognize my flyer when it asks me to install clockworkmod recovery. I tried to follow the steps in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16671722#poststop
but I couldn't find the .setting file. Maybe it needs to broken down into instructions for a noob =p Thanks so much!

ROM manager is not intended to work with the Flyer or View and some functions in this app will cause harm and potentially brick your device if you use it

Darn. Stupidly I already flashed a rom. Stuck at the white screen and it just says HTC. Soft bricked? Anyway to get it working again?

how could you of flashed a rom using rom manager? What Rom? where you on gingerbread or hc? can you get into hboot? were you s-off or s-on? Why, why, why, why, why?

Its really a huge mess. haha. Flashed the miui rom. I'm s-off. I was on honey comb. And to answer your question as to why: I am bored, curious and stupid.

I am not certain but I think you will need to get back into Hboot
may need to fastboot flash an appropriate recovery for your device (FLYER). Although you can try to sellect recovery and see if you can still get into revolutionary. Once you have the correct revolutionary recovery I think you can flash a FLYER hc rom. Or you should be able to re run globatrons hc s-off update and it should replace all the broken parts and replace it with a working system.
at least to me these are the options that make sense

Okay, I can get into revolutionary, but I'm not sure where to go from there. I tried running golbatron's hc ruu but my flyer has low battery and I don't think it is charging while in the bootloader. It needs 30% battery to run the ruu. Is there a way around this? I also tried installing the honeycomb rom from revolutionary but it kept saying installation aborted.

it should hopefully charge while either in recovery or while powered off. I would probably go with gettting into fastboot and powering off. You may need to charge it for several hours. once powered off you hopefully will just have a solid amber back light under the power button and not a flashing amber light

[Q] Installed globatron HC RUU install, but need CWM

To keep a long story short, HTC decided to mess the root on my nephew's HTC View after getting the charging port fixed. I intalled the HC RUU from globatron's sticky (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409306). The system boots up. My problem is the recovery. The HBOOT screen still says Revolutionary and the HBOOT version is 6.14.5555.
I'm trying not to brick this thing so I want to make sure I don't install something from the other threads because I was missing something else.
What is the easiest way to get CWM installed? I saw a thread about using ROM Manager to get CWM installed, but there was somewhat a debate whether or not that was the best method.
Sorry for the noob question, but still a little green when trying to resolve issues like this.
Thanks,
Ryan.
EDIT: Wow, a lot of lookers, but no answers. Doing some research, it seems that installing the recovery image through fastboot is the answer? Is there anything I'm missing. The tablet has S-OFF & Revolutionary. Can't seem to get superuser installed since I need a recovery to flash it (right???). Would running the Revolutionary tool solve my problems?

[Q] Please help, might be bricked?

So I recently rooted my sprint evo 3d by the hoot 1.50 method. that was all great until using the flash gui app i flashed a bad rom. ever since then, when I turn on my evo 3d only the white screen shows with the green htc letters, after that it goes to a black screen with the backlight still on and the buttons still lit. I have pulled out the battery multiple times and have even pressed the volume down and power button and have wiped cache and stuff, but still no luck. Please help! I CAN NOT be bricked or I will be screwed. thank you
Try flashing another rom, no? Do you have a nandroid you could restore?
Sent by Logo the turtle
I haven't tried flashing another rom, what rom should I flash? I'm totally new to rooting hah. And no I do not have a nandroid I could restore
If none of the answers people are going to post you could always restore back to stock using RUU.

If you are having issues with your current ROM. You could always run the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU) found in the link below.
http://bit.ly/u3pMEN
Make sure to download the correct file.
(RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00 .1216)
After it has finished downloading. Re-lock your phone.
Then run the RUU.exe
This will take you back to the Stock HTC 2.17.651.5 ROM.
DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR DEVICE DURING THE PROCESS. IT COULD BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
Remember this will delete all your current data/apps so use TWRP on the android market to back up all your downloaded content. Only if your going to unlock you device again because you need to root your phone to use TWRP.

We've all been there and doesn't sound like you are screwed so you can probably relax.....lol. Flashing another rom should work since you don't have a nanddroid backup. Just follow the developers instructions exactly for which ever rom you choose. Also since on h-boot 1.5 you need to flash rom in fastboot not in flash image gui. That will only extract the kernel from the rom.
The only way I have ever flashed roms (yes it is monotonous, but it works) is using adb/fastboot. I would try sticking a different rom on your sd card and then booting into bootloader by holding vol - and power. once in that screen hit fastboot and then plug it into a computer. since you unlocked using the HTC method you kind of know what to do with this. find your android tools folder with your adb, fastboot, and recovery files in it. hold shift and right click the folder to open a command window here. once open type 'fastboot boot "nameofyourrecovery".img'. once this is done flash your rom and you should be okay. if not, download the 2.17 ruu exe and run it from your computer like said above.

[Q] HELP! Rezound Bricked??

Help can anyone tell me if my phone is bricked or is there a way to fix it? I had the stock rom and stock everything but unlocked bootloader and had CWM. The first change in notice i saw was that my phone not charging. I took my blackberry battery and forced it to the rezound to go into bootloader. I can still get there but when i try to go to recovery it goes to the HTC white screen 2 times then powers off. (THis is recently after i tried to flash Amon Ra). Also, when im in bootloader and i restart my phone, not bootloader, my phone will go to HTC white screen then flicker once and freeze at that screen. please help i have no idea what to do
You can't brick this device. Secondly you should try taking the sdcard out and placing the stock RUU on the sdcard. Then flash it via the bootloader. Make sure you relock the bootloader when doing this.

is it completely dead? If so, it is because you used CWM. Word of advice, install amon ra and never use CWM again.

I was just talking about these kinda threads in the cwm thread lol how ironic
Sent from my Dinc... I mean Rezound
CWM has this bad habit of not allowing the phone to charge if you let the battery drain till the device shuts off.
Use AmonRa... better recovery on the rezound.
2nd... avoid shoving a battery in the phone that does not belong there. Could cause issues.
If you can get the phone powered on use clean flash or some other similar tool to flash the recovery to amonra... you do that when the phone is in fastboot. (one of the options in the hboot boot screen) You will need to install the drivers for the phone if you have not. (you should already if you unlocked)
Then flash a good ROM, one that also has a script built in that makes installing the kernel easy. The wrong kernel will not allow booting.
Also use a gingerbread based ROM if you have not flashed the leaked firmware. As a noob, I would bet you haven't.
Ok so i have my device in fastboot usb and im using Hansoon tool to flash amon ra. When it says it flashed it and it reboots it it wont load recovery probley cuz i dont have amon ra?
Never used that tool to flash recovery but I would try a battery pull. Once you've pulled the battery then boot into hboot and manually try getting into recovery from there. I would read up on using Adb and fastboot, knowing these two will really help you out a lot.

S-off achieved, but now phone's a brick

I managed to get s-off, but my phone would not boot. I was stuck on a screen that said "JuopunutBear" with an arrow. I did the internal storage fix, now the phone is really screwed. I'm stuck on a white screen with "HTC". I can't boot to recovery and the PC won't recognize phone so ADB commands don't work. Any help would be appreciated.

Get one of the old GB RUU's and run it on your phone. Start again. If your phone was truly bricked, it wouldn't power on and you wouldn't get an LED light when it was plugged in.

This is an easy one, or would have been when you were on the black screen. Well the internal storage fix scares me, but hopefully that wont matter. Typically all you need to do is get the PH file from your rom and place on sd card, boot into hboot, and run the update I believe, then reboot.
This title needs to be edited as it's misleading.

Relax. The S-off process blows out your recovery. You didn't brick your phone.
Put a recovery image on your SD card, go into hboot (from a powered down state, power button and volume down) and let 'er reload recovery. If you can't get the file on your SD card through your phone, pop the SD card into a card reader attached to your PC and stick it on there that way.
Once that's done, remove the image file from your SD card, put your fav ROM on it, and install it from recovery.
You may need to fix your SD card's mount points. Within the thread on S-off, there's a link to the process.
None of the commands work because the phone is not recognized. I cannot boot to hboot. Uh oh.
I had the same screen. Pull the battery and reboot into hboot, volume down+power and run the s-off program again. Something didn't finish and it will pick up where it left off in my experience.

What happens when you press power+volume down?
Edit: Also, if you're phone turns on, you're not bricked. It's pretty hard to brick this phone.

As I understand it, the only way to brick a phone is to bork a radio installation.
Dude...pull your battery, put it back in, then power and volume down at the same time. If you can get to hboot, life is good.
After about 30 battery pulls I was able to get to hboot. I have no idea what the issue was. Finally got the phone booting now. I appreciate the replies.

Constant reboots
I am able to install roms, but I get constant reboots, every few minutes at best. I tried a few different ICS ROMS. I am running the latest firmware. I BELIEVE with s-off I shouldn't have to flash PH98IMG.zip. I tried fixing permissions also but it has not helped.
How did you get the latest firmware and radios without running the PH98IMG.zip? The ics roms you are installing won't update your firmware.

Well the newest leak came out 5/7 and the one before that 5/2 so only a week ago. I would download the newest from Android Police and follow the instructions they give to install, then flash a recovery and install a rooted Rom for this firmware like Scott's.

I don't know why you relocked...I think there's a thread about not so good things happening to those who relock after S-off. I downloaded and installed the 5/5 leak as PH98IMG after I S-off'd and reflashed the recovery.
I'm pretty sure my hboot said "locked" straight out of the gate after I did the S-off deed.

Nothing bad happens, you just don't ever get back to "locked" without doing S-off again. You're just at "relocked" like the old days. S-on with an eng hboot on the other hand will brick your device.
That aside, there's no need to unlock if you're S-off. Either flash a patched hboot or just flash a PH98IMG.zip of AmonRa if you don't need fastboot commands (I did the latter).
I flashed the last firmware before S-off. I followed the instructions given. I flashed the latest firmware today and this damn thing still reboots constantly. I flashed the 5-7 firmware then the Venasaur Rom.

You need to try installing the radio firmware or just install the complete RUU again. And install a clean copy of the rom, not a nandroid backup. Wipe data, cache, dalvic cache, and system before flashing the rom.

[Q] Rezound Does Not Boot - Can Only Access Bootloader

[SOLVED - See Post #9]
Hey everyone,
So, I have some experience with rooting/ROMs, bootloaders and recoveries, all specifically on my HTC Droid Incredible (Yep, the original). But that's long in the tooth these days, and getting rather difficult to stand the slower speeds and all.
I decided to pick up a used phone, in this case an HTC Rezound, to repair and serve as my default. Cracked digitizer, but that's an easy fix, and it works for the moment which is all that matters. Turns out there was one more problem with it - it doesn't boot Android. It gets stuck in a bootloop if you allow it to boot, but it does go to hboot if you boot it up and hold the VOL down key, as expected. I cannot boot into recovery.
I tried flashing the 4.03.605.2 RUU from AndroidPolice - same problem. So, I'm not sure where the issue lies. I'd like to start by just getting the phone back to stock, and booting into Android if anyone can help me. I should be able to do everything properly from there.
I'm not entirely certain if HBOOT is stock - it shows the Android on the skateboard at the bottom - I'm not sure if that's a custom HBOOT or not, and I can't seem to find any specific reference to it. It is LOCKED with S-ON, so, I've been assuming that it hasn't been tampered with too deeply, someone just hosed an upgrade and I'm not sure how to go about getting it fixed.
Any help is deeply appreciated.
- Katie

Flash a recovery in a zip right after you finish the ruu using the same method (no need for reboot).
To get root again you might want this: downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip

Update
Small update - I did the HTC bootloader unlock and successfully got Amon Ra flashed onto it. Now working on getting Android to boot. *sigh* This thing is a serious pain in the...
If I get it to work, I'll be sacrificing a ram, or at least some RAM. :fingers-crossed:
Still, I'm open to any suggestions or help anyone can offer. Thank you!
I would make a nandroid now and keep it as is for a bit just to make sure it functions okay.
Then if all is good flash a ROM!
I'm running ViperRez and it's very good. Doesn't seem to stream bluetooth media but all else is good. Very nice daily driver. There might be an update coming which will hopefully fix the bt steaming.

Heh, that would be doing things the SMART way. I'm going to do the unofficial CM9 which has BT streaming media, but not phone - sadly, something I'm much more interested in. I am wondering if I can't get the stock ICS or JB on there and just stick with that, since I do like using my BT headset. But since I've had no luck so far getting that to go on there, I think I'll take my chances with CM9 first, and go from there.
If I get that, I'll back it up thoroughly and then try my hand at putting the stock 4.03 on instead.
Solved!
Ok, so, I got CM9 booted!
The short of what I did was the following steps:
1) HTC Dev Bootloader Unlock
2) Installed Amon Ra
3) Installed CM9 using the S-ON instructions found at the site below - I can't link yet, so forgive me.
Code:

Oh! I misread your last post above mine and thought you had gotten it back to stock.
Your issue was exactly what you figured out, that when you are s-on you need to flash the kernel separately after flashing a ROM or else you'll get stuck. If you s-off that will be automated but s-off makes it easier to brick your phone. I don't flash often so I'm staying s-on.
Sorry I misread your post, I could've let you know about that.
