How is hdmi out on the evo 3d - HTC EVO 3D

I have a evo 3d coming soon and I'm curious to know how the hdmi out works. I'm interested in playing n64 games (I'm assuming they'll run decently) on my tv with my wii classic controller. On the evo 4g it was unplayable even playing snes games from hdmi out. Is it smoother now and would 3d games be playable?

Well that's good news. lol by 3d i meant games that are not the side scroller type, I do have a 3dtv so if that's true then that's awesome.
Does the quality of the adapter matter? I'm thinking of just buying one off ebay for 10 bucks or so.

Not to hijack the thread or anything but what kind of a controller do you use for that kind of setup? I've got a nice little MSI adaptor but find without a controller, it's damned difficult to operate some games...

The old Chainpus bluetooth gamepad works great using bluez IME from the market. I've heard the Zeepad (?), Phonejoy, and Icontrolpad bluetooth controllers also work well.
I've only had the old Chainpus gamepad and it's a lot of fun for emulator TV out.

I use the classic controller plugged into the wiimote. Connected via bluetooth, works really well for emulators.

If it's cheap it would be even better

I really don't like sense, what aosp rom + kernel works? Right now I can't get output on the nocturnal adrenaline rom, which is weird since it's sense based.

thiught there wasnt an out, your have to stream

Well I can't say it works perfect, and I haven't tried it yet with any emulators....but this http://www.gamestop.com/android/accessories/tablet-wireless-bluetooth-controller/97838
works with sense roms...the problems I've had are that most games that are controllable with the gamepad seem to be mapped for portrait layout...meaning for example trying to use it with gtaIII ,the 3 o'clock direction is forward or straight...pressing actual up stick guides you left. I'm still on the fence whether I'll return it or open it up and see about switching the orientation of the thumb sticks. And also alot of games either won't use the gamepad input, or its just not configurable at all...you may be able to move around but the buttons don't respond. Like I said I have not tried an emulator yet and maybe you can do mapping which would make this controller sweet. Hopefully they release an app to run in sync with the controller or games get updated to allow for more configuration

If you have a Frys store nearby, they have a micro usb MHL adapter (Accell) it works great and costs about $24

This is what I bought. Works fine. I'm just a little disappointed with the performance of the evo while using it, hoping its because I'm on the stock rom + kernel.

This works perfect just make sure the kernel your using can output HDMI none of the anthrax kernels can do that

Does Stock Roms support HDMI outputs?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

Stock ROM rooted or not as long as the kernel supports it then yes...

I won a PhoneJoy and the controller is awesome.. works perfect with stock kernel phone with BlueIMZ.

In my experience.
1. Video is grainy, though my TV reports it as 1920x1080p, and it does not fill the whole screen. Their is half an inch of space left on all sides of TV.
2. I bought this to play audio. The quality is great. Sound is crisp clear but I have to keep screen awake and it drains battery out. It would be great to turn screen off.
PS:- I am using CleanROM Reborn 1 with stock kernel.

[REQ] T.V. Output

Alright everyone, I bought my wife the Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S today and so far I have to admit, it's a nice device. And there is a awesome feature that I would love to see added to the Nexus One, T.V. Output.... It's something I would personally use all the time, and it would be fun to show off.
I'm not a developer so I can't say if this is possible. But if someone has the ability and the time to make this happen on the Nexus One that would be Great!

I was tweeting about this, this afternoon i'm going to test my Zen vision M output cable.
It seems samsung is 4 channel in the jack instead the nexus one only 2 so maybe impossible with this hardware.
usb ... ?
Edit: tested with a video from gallery and only the sound, i think we need an apps that send the video output maybe wait for the dump and port of the rom
edit2 :where is this display &sound, not on 2.2

how many output channel does the nexus one have?
Well I already used my same cable that work with my iPod 5th gen, and the Samsung, but no luck with the Nexus. The samsung actually has a setting to turn on the T.V. Output in the Display & Sound section of the settings menu. So it's not automatic.

Get an usb->DVI adapter and the usb-host driver from sven killig.
I actually would love that.. I use phone with TV radio in car for music I have the auxiliary to 3.5 Jack and plug it in works for muisc perfect even talking on phone in car through speakers fine... iPod has TV out too... maybe that helps
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Maybe intersectRaven need to find us a kernel hack for this too ^^
We need function or something (aps ) to send signal on all different jack channel
this would really be interesting if you guys get it to work
On the Samsung the settings menu is set up different it looks like they may have modified it. Galaxy S is running 2.1 and unlike our nexus ones, the sound and display settings are combined. Perhaps our froyo has changed it but I don't think that's the case.
I'm with you though. Maybe once they port the Galaxy S we'll get the option opened up to us.

But this is not just in the rom this is in the kernel ?
I have no idea

If you have DLNA compliant device in your media center, your TV, HTPC, Xbox or ps3. if you have any one of them then you need this app. called TwonkyServer Mobile
I use twonky server on my home server and my Nexus to stream my media to my ps3.
Electrically all you need is the standard 4 pins for the TRRS connector (left/right/data/ground). The N1 recognises the data pin as an input, so if someone can manage to get it to output composite video on that pin then you may be in business.
If there isn't already something in the ROM/radio to support it, then writing a composite video encoder from scratch would be a helluva lot of work I would've thought though, so if it's not an easy hack (which I suspect it's not), then I dunno if anyone would want to step up for that one
If the physical connector lacks the pins you're fuxored. Analog video is a huge pita. You can no more get composite video out of a regular headphone jack than you could from a serial port. Apples vs. Oranges.
You want video out? Time for a new phone.

agreed but what about micro usb?
htc have a cable for tv out on the incredible: http://shop.htcpedia.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=875&compability_product=757
That's exactly why I stated this thread. To see if it's even a option.
What I'm hearing is that as long as the Nexus One has a 4 pin 3.5mm jack it's conceivable to suggest we can get video output. So long as we can get the right programming... Right?
So if the samsung galaxy s phones have the code and interface, and they're running Android 2.1. Would it then be possible to get the information we need from the file dump of one of these phone. Then use it on the Nexus One (assuming we have the right jack) and have video output on our far from out-dated phones?
And does anyone know where we can find this information?

Although cost effective and useful, I strongly recommend the permanent method.
Not only will it give you the experience you're looking for, you look cool as hell walking around town with a controller sticking out of your trousers.
But the main factor is the cord. Your going to need some jumper cables so that you can power your controller. Don't worry though there only $599.99.

A wired xbox 360 controller and ics
And a usb otg cable
Then download the app Usb Bt Joystick Gold Demo to see if it works,it will work for 10 minutes,if it works get the paid one.
And that's it, it works on my tablet and phone.
Good luck.
I FIGURED IT OUT FINALLY! If anyone has problems with their Android not working with otg devices. Once your rooted any of arter97 kernels will make any most any popular otg controller work with no modules or anything! It's great! So excited I've been trying to figure this out for a week now. I HAVE A ONEPLUS 7 PRO RUNNING ANDROID 10 OPEN BETA 8 with arter97 kernel. Works perfectly with Xbox 360 controller connected via otg thru the Xbox 360 witless reciever!!!! I have 16 Xbox one and 16 Xbox 360 controllers and otg is the only way to play 4 player GameCube and Wii emulator games on Android with dolphin emulators. niceroms.com has every game ever created for GameCube and Wii to download free

Suggestions for a Gamepad for the Note 3?

Has anyone come across a nice gamepad for the Note 3? The Samsung official gamepad still isn't out since announced at IFA. Looking at alternatives. I can't get the MOGA gamepad here locally in my region. Anyone else have experiences with other gamepads for the Note 3?

I ordered a Moga Pro I still don't have it, but found a few things, which could enhance it.
None of the things are tested, because I don't have the required gadgets, but you know.
1) A program called ZeeMouse, which makes the Moga Pro work with a Windows PC - link here
2) An Android application - USB/BT Joystick Center GOLD (requires root), which should be able to map the controller buttons to touch actions - link from playstore.
I think that these two applications make the Moga's price a little bit easier to swallow and I personally will try them as soon as possible, which could be in a few weeks.
PS. Oh I sure hope that this new Phonejoy model is of higher quality, because I have one of the first versions (the analog one) and it is so poor build and functions so bad that it is literally unusable.

I am also after a gamepad for my Note 3.
What is the best solution for me? I am -
1- Not rooted
2- After something which holds the Note 3
3- After something which works with emulators
Rooting is not an option for me as I use apps which will not work on rooted devices.

I say the Gameklip as well. It works out of the box with the included cable. Works for emulators from Fpse to SuperGenes. The only issue is having to supply your own case to attach the clip onto. If you have any extra cases then its a good choice. If not...just get a case because its cheaper than the moga pro.

Moga Pro (or even better the newer one arriving soon).
I have one and have used more gamepads than most here and so far its the best for non-Root users.
I can confirm that the new Dualshock 4 is working via USB OTG with our devices, I have not gotten it to work via bluetooth or the sixaxis app, although it works fine with my PC via bluetooth. I will let you know more as I figure stuff out.

Thanks mate, I've always enjoyed your reviews. I have decided I will be getting the Moga Pro. I was due to go away but that may have now changed due to some unforeseen circumstances, so if I don't go then I'll wait until the new Moga pad is available and I'll get that instead.
Is there a gameklip equivalent that doesn't require a tacky strip? I don't want to have to swap cases every time I want to game...I just wanted a clamp or some other mechanic to hold the phone and I much prefer using a PS3 controller over Moga's

Yes. The regular moga sucks. Step it up to the pro, hero pro or power pro. Not having a d-pad sucks.

i have a moga pro power and its awesome...i recommend to stick with Moga because they work with games on the development level...moga controllers are integrated naitively into moga compatible games...other 3rd parties manufacture uses HID bluetooth which also works well (moga also can be switched to HID mode), but not as fluid as being built for compatibility such as moga
Definitely get a Moga Pro, either the new one which can charge your phone while you play, or the cheaper older model (which is also great, I have both).
Get moga power pro! Just got mine! Totally worth it!
I use a PS3 controller with a GameKlip. Love that setup, and how easy it is to customize button configuration using the Sixasis app! I will consider getting the Samsung GamePad a a well though. It looks nice, just wish it was still white like its predecessor

i have a moga pro power and its awesome...i recommend to stick with Moga because they work with games on the development level...moga controllers are integrated naitively into moga compatible games...other 3rd parties manufacture uses HID bluetooth which also works well (moga also can be switched to HID mode), but not as fluid as being built for compatibility such as moga

So does this mean unkown brand gamepad controllers might would have some compatibility issues compared to Moga? So it's not like the PC where you just slap on any controller and it will work? So it depends if the app developer can support the type of gamepad you use?
Also.
What advantages would the official Note 3 gamepad have over other popular gamepads such as MOGA?
so is this better than Moga?
Is it possible to use this with emulators?
OT: by the way, do you have to be rooted to use Moga?
Moga is great when it connects and/or is supported. It is great for emulators. Sixaxis app is better for apps that dont support 3rd party stuff, HID or aren't great with touch controls since you can always build a custom input screen with snapshot and profile for a game.

six axis is still a great app especially for games like the amazing spiderman that don't have moga support. But I honestly like the moga hero power better. Touch emulation is awesome and I did find an app that let's you set up touch emulation with the moga and the developer is pretty awesome too. Here's the play store link

8bitdo NES30 Pro - Anyone try it?

Looking for a remote really for my Shield K1, can't seem to find anything I really want. I am living hotel life for 3 months and want the remote mainly to control Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, but am open to setting up some emulators. I dont want the Shield controller but need something decent. My DS4 is so laggy and not really worth the time. I was hoping someone has used the NES30 or NES30 Pro controller. Please let me know if you have. Otherwise open to cheap remote alternatives Thanks.
Edit: My curiosity won. I paid $30 for it on GearBest, I'll report in if anyone wants to know how it works with the K1.

NES30 Pro
As a soon to be Nividia Shield K1 owner, I would love to know whether this controller works well with the K1. I'm not a big fan of the official controller by Nvidia being so bulky and a bit too much for my taste. This seems like the perfect size and I love the retro look behind it all. Please share how well this controller works and whether all function buttons have some sort of response (dislike it when you press a button on a controller and it just doesn't do anything). Thanks in advance!
Should be arriving next week. I'll post my findings.
Do you happen to have a Nexus Player? I wonder if it would work with that too.
I use the 8Bitdo Zero on my Shield Tablet, http://8bitdo.com/zero/ so there should be no reason that the NES80 one wouldn't work.

Just curious.
How well does the Emu-Touchschreen software work?
I am curious as I have the Shield TV. If it works I could drag the controls with a mouse. The demos look very responsive?
Is there a library of templates?
Does it drop out?
Thanks.
would love to see an update in this thread .. how is the gamepad working out for you ?
I got it late last week. Connected right up and is usable out of the box like a mouse or nexus player remote. I do have a Nexus player, but I wont be home to test it out for a month. I'll be doing some emulators and some games later this week and can report back on how button mapping works. Overall very happy with it so far. It's fast, no noticeable lag, and didn't require any special software to connect up. Worth the wait coming from overseas and definitely worth $30.
*Currently not rooted and on Stock Rom.
I have also pulled the trigger on this gamepad and I must say it is very enjoyable. I have used snes9x to play some classic SNES games and it works very well. I did have to customize some buttons but it was very easy to get it to work. The only problem I came across was the lack of being able Tod program certain Dpad controls such as down+left or up+right. I'm not sure if there's a way to do this. If anyone knows please share. But other than that it works nicely. I also played some actual game apps such as Leo's Fortune and it was pretty awesome and enjoyable. Adding to that I plugged in my tablet to my TV via mini HDMI and had a great time playing on my 42" TV. Definitely recommended!!!

The other problem with this controller is that ABXY button layout is not similar to every other after market ones. If you look closely the X Y and A B are reversed.

hey guys is this controller any good for fps games like modern combat, all the bluetooth controllers ive tried have horrible deadzones on the analogue sticks which make fps games rubbish, and how does the nivida game mapper work with it because its horrible with a ps3 controller
I've been using one with the K1 shield for the last couple of days, it has worked fine with Doom 3 and Halflife 2/portal.
As people have said before the layout of the buttons is weird but it doesn't take long to get used to, and the button mapper works fine for apps that don't support a controller( I'm still struggling with Brothers though). But after playing most of these games on my shield portable I'd say its definitely worth the money and not much different from my portable. I'm going to try halflife on my big screen tonight. I mainly bought the K1 to use with my phantom but with this control I'd say the portable will be for sale soon.
I'm in possession of new APK for android Emutouch mode. Tested on galaxy S8 and confirmed working unlike old v1.6.
PM for download
Preordered the newer version that works w/ the Switch with the 4 shoulder buttons. Cost way more though... lol Can't wait to use it on my devices especially my Switch.

It is like it should be. If you search for Nintendo button layout you will see that it is the same.

There is no new/old version. Support for the Switch is firmware related. You can update your 8bitdo controller to new firmware and get it to work with Switch - I can confirm that.
Sorry for double post. I do not used multi quote it was my mistake.
I'm referring to the SNES version and not the NES version.

Sorry, what I meant by other aftermarket are the ones like Moga, Steel Series, ipega, where the bottom where left button is X, top is Y, right is B, bottom is A.
So basically this is really only good for using on Nintendo emulators.

I wouldn't say it's only good for nintendo emulators. Strictly because I've used it for other things, and on my pc as well. If you can ignore what it's labeled, it's like any other controller. Swap them around if the emulator defaults it to the letter. 99% of the time we do the set up anyways for the controllers.
I use FC30 pro but it's impossible to play to modern combat
