[Q] Reset usercode (not pattern reset) WITHOUT losing any info? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Got a friend at work, and his kid managed to enter a usercode onto his SGS2. It´s his businesses phone with LOADS of meetings/notes/sms´s/photes (all on the phone, nothing saved to SD :/ )etc etc and he want to get his info back if possible.
USB debugging is NOT turned on.
vol+,home, power gets puts you on a enter password screen.
vol-,home,power puts you in download mode.
Is there anything that can be flashed via ODIN to get rid of the usercode WITHOUT loosing any info?

Just them him to take it into a Samsung service center proof of ownership may well be needed.

As i work in a phone/tv store we send in ~5-10/phones each day to service centers.
Not one time have the phone been "unlocked/reset" without it coming back factory reset
I´ll tell him to leave it be until monday, and if there´s no other way then flashing, well, suck for him....

Read in another thread to try a bunch of wrong passwords until it asks for a PUK then use that to unlock it (Call carrier for PUK)

Tell your "friend" to ask his "kid" for the code.

Does he have a backup of his EFS? If so you can flash via Odin any xxxEFSxxx.tar file and it will allow access to the phone, you can then backup whats needed and then restore the original EFS.

The kid is 3 years old, and his name is Emil. Just think for a second, if the phone where stolen or ill gotten, why go through this trouble?! The meetings, calander etc can be restored (with pain) but the photos etc cant be replaced! And as i do this, send phones to service, on a daylie basis i want to explorer any other options first as it will likely be wiped when it is returned!

Nothing saved on his part. Got NSPRO, z3x and SGTool and tried everything that i could think of with these tools, but as usb debbuging is off no codes could be read...
Thanks for the input, i´ll guess it will be a hail mary pass to send it in to Anovo, as the biggest servicecenter is called in Sweden.

What is a "usercode" to begin with if it's not the Pattern/PIN/Password lock?
Overcomming the Pattern/PIN/Password lock is rather easy, as Odia suggested, but you even can do it with custom kernel via root ADB in recovery, don't even need to flash a stock EFS, just delete all cryptoprop* files.

THAT sounds like the device encryption is enabled.
If that is really the case, there is nothing you can do without the password, as if you do the above, the password will be gone, but so is all the data as it can't be decrypted anymore.

0000 is always worth a try .
jje

Thanks for the info.
The phone was setup by a former IT guy at the company he works at. That would explain why it is encrypted, as my friend is not very tech savvy.
Unfortunately the guy now works abroad and they have not been able to reach him, and i guess that servicecenters wont reset it with content remaining to avoid potential problems with info coming into the wrong hands.
Thanks all for the replies!

It's impossible to reset it without loosing/wiping the data when not knowing the password - that's the idea when encrypting it
Has nothing to do with service centers "not wanting", it's just technically not possible.

[Q] HELP!!

Hi there,
i need some help,
i've got my dads sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro phone, sadly he passed away 13weeks ago
i tried to work out what his pattern lock was but did it wrong far too many times, now its asking me for his googlemail login details, well as u can see i cant ask him... i can not access any part of the phone to do a restore as i need the details to login..
so can any body help me on doing a hard restore as ive tried holding the left and right buttons whilst pressing the power button but no luck...
i need to get in to the phone so i can use it as mine is now broken,
can
anybody shed some light on what to do that s not going to cost me any money,
thanks
Tubby,
Moved it to the right forum for you buddy.
Why you can't ask him? At least ask him to put the password and then you deactivate the security lock.

Oh, really sorry. Really, really sorry, I didn't get at first. Sometimes my english is awful. Do you know if he had recovery installed? Try to reboot in recovery and do a backup in case you want to keep any app or it's configs.. Then enter factory reset, reboot phone. Everything right, install App Extractor and recover the apps you want from the recovery.
In case he hadn't any recovery, I think the only option is reinstall Android, using SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service).
Again, sorry for the thing I said in my earlier post.

ive connected the phone via usb to my notepad but when i click on the usb via my computer it says to insert a disk to disk drive??
i honestly have no idea what to do, ive tried to download the sony ericsson pc suite but where i use a internet dongle it dont download...
i dont want to pay for the phone to b reset when i know i can do it myself some how and places round here have said they'd charge £50-£60 just to do it!!!!
and honestly it fine, no need to apologize so much, was a simple miss read,

Is corrupted IMEI GS2 not fixable?

Ok guys! This is simple, i bought this GS2 from a friend a couple days ago. He told me the phone had no IMEI and since i have seen this before on other Galaxy S variations and have been able to fix it i thought it was a good buy. Thing is i didnt realize how hard it was going to be to fix that. He tried to unlock that phone who knows how and it completely messed up the efs folder. I have tried the 9 step Imei restore method and some other tricks with no luck. Problem with this phone is that it doesnt even have a dummie imei number. In fact, not even zeros, just nothing when i try to check for an imei number. Any suggestions for this. Or should i just look for someone to buy the lcd and dump the motherboard to the trash?? Thanks!
Without a backup of the original, working EFS folder you are probably more or less stuck. I've been in the same situation before and ended up having to get the phone replaced.
Contact a member on here called Odia via PM. He is sometimes able to recover IMEI's/EFS details when everything else has failed (for a small donation). If everything else you've tried hasn't worked, that's probably your last chance.
Yep odia said corrupt efs was no problem to fix.

I'm facing this as well: imei blank, no baseband, stuck on flight mode. I've tried everything, no luck. I'm fixing it for a friend, would be nice to come with some results up!

Here's the only fix I know of for a galaxy s2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY9cDkj4CCw! If it works, make sure to make multiple backups of your efs folder on sd card/pc/drop box etc!!
You can view your efs folder using the Root explorer app!!
Here's the download link for the galaxy s2 kTool fix: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hellcat.droiddev.ktool&hl=en Good luck!
If all else fails, your only other option is here: http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-imei-efs-repair/
You can try to fix the efs partition following this guide : forum.samdroid.net/f70/repair-imei-s2-5729/
You'll probably get a generic IMEI after that, then contact the guy he will set back your original IMEI. I had exacly the same problem and it worked !
Wow guys thanks a lot for all those replies! Ill keep in touch and tell you how it goes!
Thank for your help jje, I've tried many methods but none of them seem to be working. (Done factory reset, installed CWM recovery, wiped caches, adb shell) I've a feeling that this phone needs a main board as well. He's got insurance for his phone so at this point, I think, it's not worth the hassle anymore.

[email protected], even changing almost any galaxy S lcd is not worth it when it breaks. Have you seen the prices of those lcd replacement screens? We do it for the sake of learning. Although in this case you might be right, because just like your phone this one doesnt even have a baseband showing. But still im pretty shure its a software and not hardware issue. This is about something that went really wrong while unlocking or trying to do something like that with it. Too bad i dont even know what happened with this one. No efs backup or anything
What actually happened is my friend went into this badly network covered area, lost the signal and he was back to a place again, where is a strong network coverage the phone just would not log on and stuck in flight mode.
So my s2 was on gingerbread rom and I decided to flash 4.1.2 via odin. Phone booted up and asks for sim unlock code. I learnt then that it locked the phone. I used Galaxy_S unlock https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5oZWxyb3ouZ2FsYXh5c3VubG9jayJd
but it didn't work so I restored the efs. Then I tried this Galaxsim http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846451 and it says unlocked so rebooted phone but when making or receiving phone calls, it disconnects. The paid version from play I havent tried but Im guessing will be the same?
Imei still shows so Im not sure what I have done wrong.
I have efs backup from both of those apps and also a efs.autobackup in the root of internal storage date in January. Not sure how that got there as this phone had GB over a year.
Please help
Do you get any signal at all?
The paid version won't help as this could be a modem issue.

[Q] Pantech Pocket P9060 Help!

Rooted my Pantech Pocket with SuperOneClick so I could remove the bloatware. Happily used it for over a year. Decided to give it to a friend to use - so I did a factory reset. BIG MISTAKE. It can make calls out, it can send and receive texts, it has data (once I updated the APN) BUT all calls go to voicemail, the home button doesn't work (it works to put it in recovery mode but not anywhere else) the swipe notification bar at the top doesn't work and the contact book crashes. I spent the entire weekend looking for a fix. Can anyone direct me to a flashable kernel for this phone??

Any Solution to this yet? I tried e-mailing pantech in which I got a response in one day "WOW" however it was basically a blow off because I specifically asked for a firmware BIN/PDL file to restore it using a special download tool I found on another forum that works on the P9070 Burst, and it will work on the P9060 Pocket, recognizes it in Software/Download mode and even lists the currant baseband version as JRUS09262011, however they would not give me the ROM and only would only provide instructions on how to restore this piece of crap, so now nobody can call me!!!! SUCKS!!!!

Its actial called the P9070 Upload tool I found it on another site its warez s I cannot link it but google is your friend, if you can get a PDL. for the P9060 you can use the Upload tool to reflash your firmware its like an Odin type thing but for pantech....Trouble is no P9060 Firmware just a non flashable kernel, which is of no use, god I wish someone would dissect one of the Element or Burst Upgrade EXE's and rebuild them with The Pockets device ID and Firmware so it could be re-flashed old school htc style. Ths Forum used to be awesome for that type of stuff way back when.
UPDATE...Was issued a Service Ticket # and told to mail the phone in with my receipt,

That's the trouble, I don't even know how to make an image in the first place.
There are no custom recoveries for this phone.
I am in another thread trying to get nandroid online to work in an effort to make said image.

someone please help :/
I used to be really sharp with this kind of stuff, but I had a MAJOR head injury and this stuff is overwhelming now. (I was in a car wreck, hit my head on the steel of the steering wheel and I woke up a day and a half later and couldn't remember where TF I lived)
(yes I searched the forum and google failed me too)
Will some good samaritan point me in the right direction? I have the kernel.zip for the p9060 but have no clue what to do with it!? Tried oden and it won't recognize the p9060 unless it's the older 1.83 or 1.85 version but I still can't get it to re-flash...
how do I use the kernel.zip to re-flash the stock OS (or can I?)
not much attention is paid to the Pocket it seems...
It's been a slow but solid phone until now. even went swimming with me this summer and survived!

Thanks for the file. It appears that this phone is quite popular globally. I would like to give it to my younger children to play games on. I however have a problem in which the phone continually boots into recovery. No matter what is done, it keeps rebooting into recovery. Can any of these files be made into an update.zip to flash from an SD card. Is there possibly another way to get the phone out of this brick?
Thanks

Is there any chance you had My Xperia? If you did, you can factory reset by sending a command through their web page

problems with google

I bought a pre-owned swift2. The previous owner had a google account which he told me he had removed the phone from his account, but when I try to set the phone up it wants me to use a previously synced account and wont let mr do anything else or let me see any other screens. I have done a hard reset but no difference. can anyone help please.
so you can't get to do a factory reset? whenever i've had a new phone it asks to use a google account, copy from another phone or skip and start fresh. you don't have that option?
ask the previous owner to take the phone off his google account. if he still has it in his name it might cause problems.

I have done a hard reset then try to set up the phone by trying both copy data and set up as new ( I don't have a skip option on this screen) when I enter my details I get a message saying unable to sign in to the device due to an unknown error try another
e mail or try again in 24 hours. Do you think I am doing something wrong?
i'm not sure if it's your fault or not. possibly the original owner not cleared the phone, possibly the phone not done a factory reset. try to get into recovery mode to do a factory reset.
