Viber - Can't Activate - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, need your help. I can't seem to be able to activate Viber via SMS or Phone Call code. Each time I put in my phone number, the number will not be 'saved' in Viber and thus, the activation code will not work. I been trying to clear cache, reinstall, delete all memory from viber but still it is not working.
I am so lost and any suggestion on how I can activate Viber on my phone?
p/s It was working fine until yesterday as I did a full wipe on the phone. After installing back, everything goes hair wire!
Please assist and thank you.

I am in Mumbai India

sms problem with ROM update, help!!

i've just updated my mda with the t-mobile update. but i can't get or send sms messages with my phone since...
Does it have to do with the update?
Can someone help me please?
SMS
We've sent and received SMS with the new ROM. Could you describe the problem in more detail? Do the SMS messages just seem to go into a black hole both ways, or does some kind of error happen?
i fixed it already, i just didn't get the messages, and ppl told me they've sent me. but i installed afterwards the sms_fix.cab, and suddenly it works again.
thanx.
sim card holds sms messages
Hi all,
I have a same problem. When people send me a sms, I cant get it from my xda. But if I remove my sim card and use it another regular phone, I see there are lot of sms messages.
What is sms_fix.cab?
If this cab is for show names from sms messages, I have already installed it.
I use XDA-Developers.com special edition rom v 1.1. My boss had got a old bios. I try to upgrade his bios, but he has got still same problem.
My problem have started after new bios. Both of us can send SMS.
ROM Version: 3.17.03 ENG
Radio Version: 4.01
I dont want to hard reset it, because I just finished to install of hundreds of tools also I dont know it will work or not!
What can I do?
Thanks a lottt.
Rom as given but still can't send sms
Hi
My rom version is 3.16.32 ENG, Radio version 4.20.00
I have the phone unlocked with the xda manipulator (now using vodapone) and had received a sms message successfully from a colleague but I just can't send a sms. I clicked on the contact and tap "Send SMS" but it just don't do anything and when I tap on "Send SMS" under the tools menu in the phone , it also don't do anything. I read that someone said caller2picture prevents someone from sending sms. Is this true? Can anything be done to make it work even with that software installed?
Would appreciate any help or advice.
Cheers
Vic
HI all,
For the benefit of forumers- a cold boot restored full functionality of my sms service. Must have accidentally deleted some important files.

[Q] motorola photon isw11m enable sms

I got my motorola photon from japan, and it has been locked on au kddi network.
I have unlocked it to work in Croatia, where i need it.
I can make and recieve calls, and receive sms, but sending sms seems to be locked somehow.
I can't send sms from "go sms" as well. All i get is "sending sms not available". I even made my own app, and no luck, same message appears. There is no sms icon in contacts, and in default sms app, there is no option to make new sms or anything usefull.
Sms center is loaded correctly from my sim card.
I have set up apn-s, but i don't think thats relavant.
So I rooted my device, and now I'm in search of how coud I make this sms to work.
So I ask you, what settings should I look for, and shoud I replace something with something from verizons photon android?
Have you tried downloading Google Voice? It uses a completely different service, but if you had a Gvoice number, and an account, you could send SMS that way. It should work fine out of country. I use Gvoice whenever I travel because it's cheaper.
Thank you for suggestion, but I mainly use sms for paid services like public transportation, parking, etc... so I really have to enable native sms service.
Currently I'm exploring: system/framework/framework-res.apk
As I've seen in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17578600#post17578600
I've unpacked apk, but there aren't any permissions explicitly set as in this thread.
But I found some file in apk, under raw folder which states:
com.kddi.android.intent.action.LOCKSMS_RECEIVED,com.kddi.android.permission.RECEIVE_LOCKSMS,2,0x000E,0x00,,,,,,
com.kddi.android.intent.action.KUPSMS_RECEIVED,com.kddi.android.permission.RECEIVE_KUPSMS,2,0xFFFF,0x01,0,3,0x000701,,,
com.kddi.android.intent.action.UNSUP_SMS_RECEIVED,com.kddi.android.permission.RECEIVE_UNSUP_SMS,0,0xEF43,0x00,,,,,,
com.kddi.android.intent.action.UNSUP_SMS_RECEIVED,com.kddi.android.permission.RECEIVE_UNSUP_SMS,0,0xEF40,0x00,,,,,,
com.kddi.android.intent.action.UNSUP_SMS_RECEIVED,com.kddi.android.permission.RECEIVE_UNSUP_SMS,0,0xFFFF,0xFF,0,2,0xEF44,0,2,0xEF55
,,1,0xFFFF,0xFF,0,2,0xEF56,0,2,0xEF7E
,,1,0xFFFF,0xFF,0,2,0x0002,0,2,0x005F
,,0,0xFFFF,0xFF,0,2,0x0060,0,2,0x00AF
com.kddi.android.intent.action.UNSUP_SMS_RECEIVED,com.kddi.android.permission.RECEIVE_UNSUP_SMS,0,0xFFFF,0xFF,0,2,0x00B0,0,2,0x00FF
com.kddi.android.intent.action.ESIGNAL_RECEIVED,com.kddi.android.permission.RECEIVE_ESIGNAL,0,0xFFFF,0x01,0,10,0x5349474E414C5549443A,,,
So I guess this is step forward... now I'm not sure is this just a log, so I have to find and kill this process, or just delete this file...
I will update when I find the time to deal with this problem.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated
Bricked it! help needed
OK, i succesfully bricked my phone by changing that file.
Now my question is how to get adb access with bricked phone.
It is in infinite boot loop, but I can access recovery options, fastboot and others. But adb don't reckognise it. It is only recognised in some usb mode but as offline.
I tried factory reset and wipe, but that is something differnet i guess. Probably my phone is unrooted again too.
I have backup of original framework-res.apk file I just need to push it but don't know how... please advise.

[Q] com.android.phone problem

Ok, i flashed to ics real lite v1.1 and am using rage kernel. Its a clean install and didnt use any backups. I only restored my contacts via memory card backup and messeges via sms backup app. This is on the mini pro.
My problem is sometimes when i get a call, i get a black screen. I press the power button to turn my screen on then i unlock my screen then answer the call. When i do that i get an error bout "com.android.phone" not responding. Whenni click ok, my prone drops the call and i cant even see the caller via call log, its so frustrating. Ive read around and ppl suggested i delete a few messages from "reject call with message", but i cant find a delete command in there. Secondly, there was this suggestion about clearing the contacts cache and stuff via app manager. This only deleted my whole contact list and was never able to get it back till i did a reinstall of the rom. I dont use facebook or some other app, my setup is bone dry basic, i only use sms backup app.
I also tried using another rom, the full version of real ics v4, still nothing. Any help would be appreciated as i really like this rom.

[Q] WhatsApp SMS verification failed on custom ROM

I found the WhatsApp failed to work (SMS verification fail) some custom ROMs like below :
http://get.cm/get/jenkins/7080/cm-9.1.0-galaxysmtd.zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730954
http://get.cm/get/jenkins/7091/cm-9.1.0-pyramid.zip
and mush more I tested...
"Call me" also does not works as they said voice verification failed too many time.
Does anyone here encounter issue like me ?
Please feel free to share with us.
I have contact WhatsApp tech support mant times but they cannot help. They suggest me to ask the ROM authors. That implies WhatsApp dont like people to use ROM released by XDA experts ?
Can we conclude that : If you like custom ROM, switch to other software like LINE or KakaoTalk ... ?
Without XDA, we cannot have ICS or Jellybeam on our old device like Galaxy S or Nexus One.
Thank for eveybody here.
I got the same problem, cannot verify Whatsapp and their customer service doesn't help at all.
All the email they reply only ask u to reinstall the app which won't solve the problem.
This is really bad and if they start to ask ppl to pay for this app, that's ridiculous.
[FIXED]Verification failed
solution is posted in main thread

Maybe a solution
I got the same problem with whatsapp on my rooted Sprint HTC ONE running Benny's 4.3 a couple of days ago. I tried to install viber today and it also said it needs the sms verification. I didn't receive any sms so i used the call option. Once again, i waited five minutes and then uninstalled viber because I am so impatient and then some more minutes later I finally got the call. I wrote down the verification number and then tried reinstalling whatsapp, but this time the sms verification worked instantly! Hope this helps!

HI, i have installed and rstored whatsapp a million times or so, when flashing and switching between roms. last night i tried something funny, and it cost me tooo much.
I tried to install whatsapp for another number(my phone is dual sim), while sms verification was happening, it got registered via my previously registered whatsapp no. Now even after i deleted the new no. account,i am still not able to get my old account back. when i give my old number, it doesn ask for sms verification, and goes to local backup directly, but fails there and throws error. on the other hand, i can verify the account, but cannot restore all my messages.
Please help, as my msgs are quite important..!

Yup, pretty much what the above person has replied. Whatsapp is actually registered on to your phone number. And how there is smartphone without a SIM slot!
And there are many methods provided here at XDA for making Whatsapp work for Wi-fi only devices, but not sure whether it will work. You can try those, by doing this google search :
Code:
site:forum.xda-developers.com how to make whatsapp work on tablets
Most involve having a phone number. The closest Ive seen is the bluestacks method.
You need a phone number... without a phone number people can't add you to there contacts and can't add you to groups etc. basically you need a number to use whatsapp..
Try this - it works for me

You will need to have a What's app account. Open the app and it will ask if it can send a SMS from your device to confirm the number. If a prompt appears say yes.
Now make sure the number you entered when creating an account is your number and it can be for any other device (even a regular phone will do)
When the app sends a message you'll receive a reply with a confirmation code on the number you have provided to the app.
The app will keep trying to confirm the device number but will fail and ask for the confirmation code. Just enter the one you received:good: on your other number.
I am not sure if it works when creating a account but it sure works with retrieving it:good:

If the phone has a sim card slot and you have any working sim card. Just insert it and do the registration then you can remove the sim card and whatsapp will continue working.

WhatsApp requires a valid SIM in order to access it. You can still access it by bypassing the phone verification process. There are sites which offers virtual numbers using which you can receive SMS; you can make use of those sites to get the verification done.
For more queries do let me know.
Cheers
Easiest Way
This is the easiest way and works for the latest version of whatsapp--
1) Install whatsapp on the device as usual
2) When it asks for number, enter any of your mobile number(non-smartphone)
3) Whatsapp will send a text message on the registered number
4) It will try to automatically verify, wait for the blue progress bar to complete(see timer)
5) Now it will ask you to enter the code sent by SMS on ur number, enter it.
6) If (5) doesn't work, you can touch on the option call me to verify by call
7) As soon as you will enter the code, whatsapp will start setting up
8) Tap continue when it comes
9) You are done !
use one time number apps
You can use an app like hushed or textplus search for it in the playstore. You get a number wich you can use to get an whatsapp account.
Hope it worked :good:

Talkatone works for me with the call function after you've waited 5 minutes
It is very possible
It is very possible to install whatsapp without using your real number, you just need to use a virtual number instead, here is a good guide for that: //whatsappformypc.com/whatsapp-for-pc-virtual-number
follow it up and you will be good to go
