[Q] Freeze Toggle Widget - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are there any widgets that can be used to freeze/unfreeze apps directly? Sure I know about using Titanium backup, but that is way too many clicks if I want to unfreeze Maps.
I was thinking I would like a widget that has the application icon on the left and a toggle status (which you can toggle by pressing it) to the right of the app icon (similar to data toggles, etc). So to unfreeze the app, just press the toggle button, then you can click directly on the app icon to launch it.
When you are done with the app, just toggle it back to frozen state. Maybe the icon would be greyed out or something when in a frozen state, or if the app if frozen and you click on the app icon, it would automatically unfreeze, then launch.
Might be obvious, but you would have the ability to add as apps to the widget (or multiple instances of the widget) and maybe have an option when first installing the widget to add all currently frozen apps to the widget).
If no one had created such an app, and no one is interested in creating a widget, maybe I will try to create it.
Any comments would be welcome.

The filter is then just a Titanium Label.
So first you create a label e.g. "FreezeApps" and add your app which you want to freeze to this label.
Then you create the Titanium Backup Action Widget and set as Action "Freeze all user & system apps (USE FILTER & EXTREME CAUTION)"
As "Filter by" you set the just created label.
But If you set "No filtering" and let the widget run, I guess, then you will kill your phone because then all apps and especially all SYSTEM APPS will get freezed until the widget will crash because one of the main system apps got freezed and nothing more will go. Just a guess, but I won't try it
But I am searching something like a script to let run maybe throgh Apps2SD or something.
Anybody knows something like it?
EDIT: but momento, I just discovered that Titanium Backup now has an Action "Freeze/Defrost/Launch an app" - this is exactly what I was looking about. It can even provide a password to protect unfreeze (against some no-tech-users at least).
So problem solved.

[Q] Any app to show recently launched programs in the app drawer?

I know I can long-press the home key, but would like basically the same icons in the app drawer too. Is this possible?
I don't know of an app that will do specifically what you want, but you can set a gesture action with Launcher pro to display the recent apps list. It sounds like you want your app drawer filtered to show the most recently used apps at the top.

[Q] Launch Bar Button changes

I put an app button on the launchbar (DoggCatcher). Every once in a while the icon changes from the DoggCatcher icon to a generic Android icon.
The DoggCatcher icon returns when I get an app update from the Market.
Eventually, it goes back to the generic icon and the process repeats over and over.
The functionality remains the same. It's just that the icon changes.
Does this happen to anyone else with any of your icons on the launchbar?
Does anyone have an idea why or how to prevent it from happening?
Thanks
have you tried with another icons? I had change the icons so often without any problem... (I believe your talking about dock application, right? )
Changed app to see what happens
Yes, I am talking about the dock application at the bottom of every screen. I just changed the app on the launch bar to see what happens.
The Google Music icon that I have on the launch bar never changes to a generic Android icon so you could be right.
It might be the DoggCatcher app.
Thanks
Is DoggCatcher on the SD card? If so, try moving it to internal storage and see what happens.
It is on the SD Card
I'll try moving it. Good suggestion.

[Q] {advanced} How do i hide apps completely? (serious)

TLR, looking for something that hides apps or a browser etc that's not a mainstream app (Everyone knows about all the hide it pro apps and photo lockers and "hide application from drawer" type stuff, you can easily access it from settings). All that stuff is online. I'm looking for something that can maybe hide the app from drawer/settings and maybe have a "blank" app icon or blank settings menu space that activates it.
It still has to be easy enough to access frequently but be able to exit really fast and leave no traces in case someone barges in.
This is honestly to stop snooping of family/parents/friends. I'm of age to have my own privacy to have things on my phone that I want, but due to living with parents, in essence it's their rules and they can do as they please or I get kicked out. I simply want to keep things private like conversations and apps but normal hiding techniques are hardly adequate.
Do any of you know of an Xposed module or ROM with abilities like this? My dream thing would be to hide a messaging app and
-HIde app from drawer AND app manager in settings
-Close on home button press
-Discrete notification to inform of messages
-Password locked
-Quick to open
-Hidden opener(ie invisible button on homescreen/settings menu/widget)
I'd create it if I had the know how. Audio Manager does stuff well but it's well known that it's a hiding app and rents probably already know if it. Plus to hide an app with it, it takes a long time to "unhide" the app and open it and then close it. Plus there's no notifications. All the other hiding apps are cheesy like the calculator one (obvious to just google) etc.
Please refrain from making "judgemental" statements, this is a serious question and you don't need to go off topic and talk about morals, it's nothing illegal/bad/worth hiding tbh but some parents are psychotic (literal sense there's official medical statements)
Thanks. :fingers-crossed:

[Q] About Customizing Stock ROM

Hello. I am using Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, N7000ZSLR1, Android 4.1.2 Hong Kong version. There are something I am not quite satisfied with the ROM, I have rooted my device with Chinese one key root app so I wonder if there are some ways to customize the ROM.
1. The first thing is Notification screen. In this Android 4.1.2, when you pull it down, the shortcuts at the top will first display the tiles in picture 1, then it will automatically swipe to picture 2:
Picture 1:
Picture 2:
Is there any method that can modify / remove tiles at the top? Or at least make it like picture 2 in default when I pull down, no swiping.
2. In this ROM, the Task Manager no longer display in app drawer like Android 2.3.6, instead I need to long press Home button to go to "Recent App" screen and tap the pie chart icon at the lower left corner to open Task Manager. I'm curious, the system app is in \system\app, and it IS an .apk. So I wonder if I can at least make a shortcut from it and add to "Home Screen", I always need to use it and I don't want to download third party app for this shortcut.
Recent Apps screen:
View in ES File Explorer:
3. The default Launcher in the stock ROM is TouchWizHome, and by default there are no indication when you tap an icon to open the app. So I wonder if I can add some "effect" to notify me when I open an app, like dim the icon or glow at the edge of icon.
4. If you are a Titanium Backup user, please tell me that should I wipe system apps' data first before uninstall it. Because it always gives me a feeling of "unclean" if I don't wipe the data before uninstall it. I always uninstall system app to keep my phone slimmer and faster.
Thank you in advance.

Transparent clock and weather widget forgetting locations

Whenever I close the app in the app switcher, the widget loses the current location for weather updates. What's worse is that all locations which I've added in the app are lost upon restarting and I have to select my location again.
I don't suppose the app has to be constantly running in the app switcher for the widget to work correctly?
Yes, usually if a widget is part of a standalone app, the app needs to always run. At least that has been my experience. I don't know about your specific app there though.
I am sure there are apps that make the widget run independently of the main app, but most I have seen seem to need the app running, or the widget won't function.
Turns out this widget doesn't need the app to be running after all. It's just that I had disabled the storage permission as per Android 6 permission settings and that caused a problem even though the app did not complain. I thought it needed to access storage only when adding custom background pictures, which I didn't intend to use.
What's interesting is that without the storage permission even if I left the app running, but it got bumped out of memory and needed to reload, it would also lose location settings. This makes me think there was some sort of virtual storage created in the absence of storage permission, so that as long as the app was running it could save the location there. But it gets erased as soon as the app is closed. Maybe a fail-safe solution for the lack of permission? I could be wrong.
