Tired of slow sluggish android market? - Wildfire Themes and Apps

Hey hi guys
The new android market sure is beautiful but our phone simply cannot take that much load,
First I thought overclocking my phone would help me make it faster but turns out its still slow
If you are in same situation, here is the solution :
Download the attachment
Install the file normally
Now go to titanium backup n freeze the updater app
Now while you are still in titanium backup, long click on market n select integrate to os...this would push the app into system
P.S.: The last 2 steps make sure your market wont again update itself to the new slow market.
N yes this requires rooted phone
-Hit Thanks if I have helped you!

Hello, for me market 3.4.4 is the fastest and the most stable market here.

oh... i dont know why but for me it was bit slow...so thought if anyone is looking for apk to go back to old one, he could use some help

You can also remove market updater from gapps before you flash it too.
regards,slymobi

There's an app called "Old Market" that can do this. It can also revert back to the new one. I find it quite useful!
(Also, on the old market, sometimes my apps download, but not install, why? )

same problem here...

I'm running CM7 and V6 Supercharger with a smartassV2 overclock set to 710 MHz and Market is running like a charm. For those of you that don't have the V6 mod, wiping your DALVIK Cache helps, too.

Market generally a slow app only..what I'm bothered is, when it gets updated it consumes my precious internal memory :-/

have a look at Darktremor A2SD Scripts - does require an EXT3 partition on your SD card.
and I also read somewhere that Darktremor is not being supported anymore, can anyone confirm this?

You can just remove updates from Application Manager to revert back to old market.

You need to download and install an older version of market, there is 1 in this post, reply #131 Attachment
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139259) it is in a zip format which you can flash to your phone with recovery or rom manager
so you mean to say that new market doesn't work in wildfire?? than why they r providing updates automatically.
my wildfire is non rooted buddy so i m not able to flash through recovery..
do u have older market in .apk format so i can install that.
Have you tried going to menu-applications-find the market and uninstall updates?
Edit: note to self, "must read the op"
And if I'm not mistaken (which I might be) market is a system app so I don't think you can just install an apk to downgrade it, and even if you do wouldn't it just update itself again as you would still have the updater in /system/app.
Anyway here's a link to the latest v3.1.5 which should be a bit faster than 3.1.1, it works fine for me anyway.

Have you tried clearing the Market app's Cache and Data?
Sent from an unrooted DroidX using XDA app.
the simple way. root. detach market from updates using titanium backup. try some rom with 2.3.5 android. the new market will work
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
The new market does work on the Wildfire, you just need a lot of patience, and I mean alot of patience, as it is very, very slow. For those who don't want to wait for the new market to finally open, or not, try the link in post #2, it does work.
It only lags because stock wildfires are useless, sense is bloated and the specs of the phone aren't very good unless modified, it works perfect on cm7 overclocked.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
actually on my CM7 wildfire, overclocked 710 MHz it still runs like crap, force closing half the time and very laggy...
*edit* i can now not open the market at all: "proces com.android.vending has stopped unexpectedly". I have flashed the old market from post #131 from the thread linked here before, but that changes nothing to my market sadly... Help?
The thing I found is that v3.1.3 and above works fine but below that absolutely sucked even for me, my phone only has the bare minimum running in the background at all times so always has plenty of ram but the first versions of the new style market was useless but the newer ones are working perfectly for me anyway.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
well after a lot of f-ing around, rebooting, clearing memory's suddenly the market I flashed appeared, so now I have the old style market back; thank god. Both 3.1.3 and 3.1.5 crashed for me...
I would find out the latest officially deployed Market version for your phone model (stock), and use that version. Newer versions of the Market may not work on some phones, or with custom ROMs.
As of this writing, v3.1.5 is the latest officially deployed Market version for the DroidX.

I had many problems with market and install Skype or Angry birds, but many reflashes helps

Once the old market is installed, and you run it does it autmatically update them to the new market again?
And also you should link to the original dev.

You can also stop the market updating itself by opening up terminal and typing:
su -
pm disable com.android.vending.updater
You will get a message to say its been disabled. I usually just use route explorer to move a copy of the old market (vending.apk) to system/apps and set permissions, run terminal with the above command and voila! Must say though, it will be nice to see how this installer works, especially if it cuts down on excess finger tapping..
I've never been able to use any of the new markets, its awful. Not sure if there's any weird issues with the internet around here but it was so hard to get anything installed. It could take 20 mins to install a single app, I could have configured my whole phone from scratch in that time!
Good work!

Haha yeah i know what you mean, i had a few problems with some of the new versions as well, just like that but with mine it would never actually install. It would finish the download then say it was corrupt and could not install. Or something along those lines. But the newest one seems to work for me now. The only reason i want an old market is for the old theme of it.
Cheers for the info tho, ill have a look, havent installed this yet, just finished putting Flame.E 0.2 on my mimmi.

Slow with opening apps? Or slow user interface? It shouldn't be slow unless he has tonnes of apps.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
Do not make him buy a new phone, this phone can be hella snappy actually!
Start by rooting your phone, you can easily find a tutorial just by searching the forum or via google.
My personal preference:
ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263292
Tweak: V6 SuperCharger Update 9 Beta 6.2.2 (tutorial here)
When installing the tweak, chose option 7 (agressive for 512HP)
APPS: Autostart (find it in market)), preventing useless apps to start, but you must have chose the apps manually.
Auto Memory Manager(find it in market), chose agressive and save the changes.
If he is new at these sort of stuff it could take some time to get it right but it's totally worth spending a day fixing it, he'll get a fast a snappy phone in long term.
Has he tried using the task manager to clear memory? It sounds like he downloaded an application that doesn't behave the way it should (memory/cpu hog). If clearing memory helps he has to find and uninstall the misbehaving app(s), i think there's an app called watchdog or something which monitors memory and cpu usage of all installed apps.
If that doesn't help, go i'd go for a reset. And before buying a new phone, give the custom roms a go because they do tend to increase performance quite a bit!
Thankyou for the quick replies everyone very helpful, he gets force closes on twitter and facebook all the time and also it just randomly shuts down aswell.

hi! regarding the suggested tweak? is there a detailed summary on how to use and instal this type of tweak? ive been reading the post and it seems it only has the overview.. thanks!
my advice is just forget all those mumbo jumbo tweak script. its already incorporated in cfroot kernel. its also doesnt make sense. all it does is doing the same thing. tweak vm dirty, tweak minfree, tweak stagefright and so on with the only difference is the fancy mancy name to make it looks yummy. people just install 2-3 script with different name when all it does is the same, and u actually already done it when using cfroot.
You might also want to avoid CM because it's unstable, just flash a stable custom rom that's still in active development. Make sure to get the latest cfroot kernel version.

They have, but UK operators are notoriously slow with pushing their own, branded versions. Especially on a midrange phone like the Ace. Avoid CM, especially Grif's as that has quite a few bugs. Some bugs in Cyanoace but not as many from my experience.
For starters, root your phone (or get a custom rom with integrated custom root), than download Titanium Backup from Market, and then uninstall all the unnecessary apps, also, delete app and internet cache. That all should make your phone better than new
I would agree about using cfroot.
Root phone with cfroot, titaniumbackup pro backup to sdcard, factory reset, download mode and flash latest stock rom from sammobile.com, root again and then restore apps only, only restore app+data for games.

[Q] Major WTF moment -___-

I just rebooted my ace because every time I tried downloading an app from the market, it said failed to parse package or something. After rebooting, phone took an incredible amount of time to boot so I turned it off, turned it on again and let it boot. It still took a lot of time so I just left it there. Until it finally booted. All my apps were gone and everything was back to stock CM7 looking.
What the hell just happened? Not even the Market app is there!
Luckily I had a backup of a clean CM7.2 install so I flashed it back. I'm so confused!! :'(

Okay, I'm not a master-of-android here (like you), but AFAIK CarrierIQ only concerns the US. Even though it might be preinstalled on our devices, CyanogenMod has and will never inject CarrierIQ on its ROMs (I'll link to that)
As for our friend SuperAce:
Do you have a2sd (or similar tweak) enabled? The partition might be corrupted or something wicked happened to it.
But then you said that the Market is also gone, and a2sd type tweaks only link user apps.
Hmmn... very peculiar...

IMO MIUI doesn't look beautiful on O1's highly pixelated display.

better than nothing
neko. on the gingernap miui rom, people are saying apps force close or mass storage not working. I can't seem to reproduce the apps force closing as they work fine for me, and im not near a computer right now so i can't test mass storage.
do you have any idea whats wrong. could one of your various tweaks be causing the rpoblem. the original one based off of cm nightlies doesn't have these problems. could you look into it. I got a lot of work
> its not scripts causing that .on 1.5. Its working. There are only 3 known fc on settings. 1 under cm and 2 on security, what causes this is sort of error while recompiling settings.apk

I am using the UI One 2.3.7 by fundooz (Team MAC). Its a good rom for daily use. Since its GB the UI does not lag as in ICS MIUI.

I think somethings wrong with the gapps...I flashed the 20110729 and 20120828 for dark knights miui gb Tom..while in market there are a few apps I can't install because the play store says there's incompatibility with the devices version. I've tried alternates like apotide and blackmarket but some apps don't exist on either of those two like they would on play store...I also woke up to realize my phones download miui themes as well as all downloaded apps had seemed to disappear but I am using darktremors script in conjunction with s2e so all I did was a simple reboot and I had all themes and apps as before..I'm not sure if that's a bug or not or just a rare occurrence

well themes are stored in sd card.
could it be your sd card not mounting correctly or your sd ext is corrupted?
if theres incompatablility. change your build prop to HTC desire and the incompatabilities should disapear. that isn't this rom's fault. it is for lots of roms.
please don't mention aptoide on xda. you c ould get an infraction
Certain apps like Pandora never show in the google play store, many others like that...I downloaded a build prop editor and changed a few lines I recognized to reflect HTC desire bit there is still incompatibilities...I still get that message of the the device not being supported...I've known the SD card is starting to give out,I've partitioned it to many tines.I gotta get a new one (know of any places I can get a fairly cheap 16-32 gb sdcard,I currently have a 8gb card)...
