[Q] What's the best ? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

I got my Galaxy ace a half year ago .. and I tested nearly every rom / mod & theme .
but I am quite searching for a rom that has the best performance, the best speed and it should be very stable - without lags. It don't need to be themed - it can look like a stock rom.
Thx for your help xda-team ♥

Choose stock....like me, i know there will be more comment after me saying custom is better (of coz, they made it)
But until now no custom rom is stable...
I use stock wxks6 then convert to ext4, plus...cf-root kernel and lagfreeV2 script....all working well.
Owh, and now using miui launcher...cool

oh nice thank you for now . . . i will check that out

After having tried many.
The Rom custom of the TheMyth (devilsking) are the best.
always the same functionality as stock.

ICS Final hands down. After flashing some other roms and looking around, this rom is by far the most stable and fastest I've tried. Never had any problems with the rom and I've been using it ever since the Final version came out. The only problems I've had are with random apps and such, never with the rom itself. Got a champion right there ;D
Highly recommend it.

Anyone wanna spare me sometime and suggest a ROM and Kernal.?

Hey guys. I am kinda overwhelmed by the number of ROMs and kernals around. I saw modems too but dunno what they are. Heres my info:
Baseband:I9100DDKE4
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555 [email protected] #2
Hope thats alls needed. I wanna try our MIUI. But I saw stuff like bluetooth isnt working there. I dont wanna lose any functionality. Is CyanogenMod my best bet? Are there any other good stable mods I should check out? And whats a good Kernal? Which wont affect battery performance.
Thanks for your time if you reply.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288850
read throughout the first page and then go to the last page as well of the thread cause they just updated the rom and scripts..so you will enjoy using that rom i know i did since i beta tested it..
and battery life with the right settings you can get 2 days out of it..give it a try your not losing anything..
and regarding cyanogen id wait till they make it more stable

1. Modems are the drivers for the mobile connections if you flash a newer one it can improve your network speed but it really depends were you live etc so it different for every person.
2. If you're a beginner with flashing I wouldn't start with any AOSP ROMs like Cyanogen or MIUI.
3. I would recommend Villain ROM for the beginning. It's clean and basic and it comes with Nimphetamine Kernel. Also the guys there are really nice and like to help if you have some problems.
Hello there OP!
If you want a completely different Android experience, go for the CyanogenMod 7.1 release candidate. Bluetooth and other important stuffs are working, read the thread!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297557
If you want a very stable ROM with bloatware removed, I recommend you Cognition 1.5.1. The developer only uses official firmware releases, not leaks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124396
Though before you do all these you do need to have your phone rooted first!

i know mate i been there so i know how it feels wanting to ask these questions...but you have some ideas from myself and other people as well so do your reading and choose the one you want..to be honest if i was you id flash a few before deciding which one to stay with..each thread of the roms that i have used everyone is friendly and everyone is helpful so you should be fine...anything you ever need hit me a message and i see if i can help ya
Thanks you everyone. I was just being lazy. Chose Lite'ning Rom and SiyahKernal2.0. Both should play well right? Will I need to recong. all apps?
Loads of roms available but I'd recommend a rom based of 2.3.5 improvements are better than earlier releases.
Then you can choose from the various kernels and modems to customise.
Once you get the hang of flashing and such you can try out others like cm7, which itself works pretty good now and offers a complete aosp experience.
Touchwiz roms are polished though and work very well. By going to CM7 and such you will lose some stock functionalities such as the good camera app, better stock email, and other bits and bobs.

i think LeoMar75 Revolution Rom v2.7.1 and SpeedMod t41 kernel is the best choice.
battery friendly and really fast!!
no lag in SPB Shell 3D launcher and other apps. also revolution rom is really customised!
(my english is not good as i come from Hong Kong)
GingerMod 0.6. Based on 2.3.5.
Fast. Using Siyah kernel with it. Amazing battery life, amazing benchmark scores.

[Q] Custom ROMS vs Stock

Do all Custom ROMS for all the positive features they may bring always result in less stabililty than a Stock ROM?
I imagine CM7 to be the best....seeing as he works for Samsung also. I certainly found it the best when I had the I9000/Galaxy. However looking at the CyanogenMod forum there are plenty of people raising issues with the builds (including 'stable' builds).
I really enjoy trying different ROMS usually but I am deliberately sticking with a rooted stock at the moment - and it has never froze, crashed or rebooted itself yet! I do miss fiddling with my phone though!
Thoughts/opinions appreciated.
Thanks

Yes.
(10 char)
If you want a stable rom, then use the one in my sig. Oxygen is amongst the most stable roms that are out here. It's almost bugfree, because the creater of the rom, Adam G is a perfectionist.
You have no touchwhizz, just stock android that works. If you are looking for a shiny rom, then this one is not for you. If you want a stable rom and an almost bug free rom, then this one is for you.
ps you won't find this rom on xda, because he does not want that anymore.
Samsung Galaxy SII
try this combination...
*CheckROM Revolution HD v3.1.1 (fast and lite)
*Speedmod-kernel-s2-k2-18-test8-CWM.zip (best battery life)

I don't know if you can say that. It has some coding from CM, drivers etc. But it is supposed to be a stock android rom, the way google intended it, with (almost) no CM stuff.

It depends really with locked bootloader I would go with xperia x10s or feralabs and donut HD is very stable! But if you plan on unlocking your bootloader the list goes on! I would recommend oodies miui rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295089
In fact this can be installed on locked bl and finally theres cyanogen mod by fxp but its not fully working yet video camera doesn't record in HD and very very laggy

I was been on Dixperia 7 avenger for a while until I went to FXP115 CM7.2.0.
Dixperia 7 is a smooth, fast, stable and good looking version of the stock factory rom.
I wouldnt give CM7 to my Mum coz it has heaps of very customisable settings under the the hood and if She started poking around in there things could get ugly pretty quickly
Choices for my Mum would be...
Dixperia 7 avenger
T.E.A.M Transparent
DonutHD2.2

Imo most stable is currently DiXperia 7 (which i'm using right now), it's clean very fast, include alot of xperia S apps, simple theme etc.. And DonutHD is also very nice, it's bugfree, fast, & ICS themed.
Quick question about Dixperia 7... Am correct in assuming you have to download and install a LOT op different stuff? I saw that there is the rom, and then after that you have to install some kind of facebook, a browser, an app for this, an app for that... Isn't that a lot of extra work? Or is there a cersion where all of that stuff is already included in the Rom? In my case, the extra installing would prevent me from using the Rom as it seems like a lot more wok then other Roms that are already complete? Or am I mistaking?
My ROM has additional downloads in single addons/files, cause not all people using the same stuff, so after install my ROM, you just apply those files you need - it makes you more being yourself, cause you don't need delete tons of non-using apps. Of course decision depends of you - I can't tell you which ROM is the best, cause I'm not flashoholic, and I am Dev - every Dev prompting for his system, am I right ? Cheers.

Haha, ok, so the Rom will work great as is? Everything else is just extra stuff you MIGHT use but is not necessary?
Trust me I am no flashaholic, If I do this I just want to do it once and have a good working smooth fast phone
I mean the video playback after recording is laggy not the rom sorry for the confusion

[Q] Too much ICS Roms, please help (looking for smooth experience)

Hi,
I tested some ICS roms about two weeks ago but went back to GB checkrom v6 very quickly. It was laggy and not very responsive screen. So now I want a very smooth rom, good responsiveness. It should not be a Samsung bloated rom. So something AOSP based I guess. Is there anything you would suggest?
Thanks!

Don't be lazy. Make a nandroid backup of your phone so you can recover if something goes wrong or you don't like it, and try them yourself. Your phone, installed apps, and usage patterns will not be the same as anyone else's.
I will be surprised if this thread stays open for much longer.

Despite the off-rule topic, I will throw in my two cents.
+infinity for Gingersnap 1.3
Hands down the smoothest, fastest ROM I have ever tried for my humble P500. Combined with DJNoXD's kernels (I prefer TA touchscreen fix and vsync off) and it puts the P500 at the pinnacle of performance and stability for this current time IMO.
As said 1000 times before, there's no need for threads like this.
To find the best suitable ROM for your device, try the ones available and stay on the ROM you think works best on your phone.
