[Q] Android on Acer Aspire One ZG5 A110 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I searched the forums and googled this without any luck... Does anyone know how to install Android on the old Acer Aspire One ZG5 A110 (8GB SSD)?
Windows is REALLY slow on this machine
Ubuntu fails every time I do an update
So, instead of throwing this in the trash, I wanted to install something that makes it useful at least.
Thanks,
Khalid

I found this and tried 3 different 4.0 iso files with no luck... They work but the camera and browser don't.
http://www.android-x86.org/download

I tried installing the eeepc build from android-x86 and its working fine except for the apps which are mostly not compatible with my old device acer aspire one A110.

Just got one of these Acer Aspire One ZG5 models and I'm curious what it can run now in 2023 .
So far I tried Win11 lite , tiny11 didn't work, and I heard Linux Mint would be suitable but I've never used Linux , so what about Android ?

[Q] ViewPad 10 dual boot x86 help?

Hello,
I purchased the ViewPad 10 dual boot quite some time ago, and have come to the point where it is pointless to have Windows 7 on a tablet with only 16 GB HDD.
As a result, I have been interested in installing Android on this tablet, replacing the existing Windows install.
I know how to install Android, as I have previously upgraded the 1.6 version to 2.2. However, given 2.2 is the latest official version released by ViewSonic, I am stuck.
Can anyone link me to the latest compatible version of Android that works on the ViewSonic? I have researched and read that there is an Android 3.2 release for a 'Vega2' that may work with the ViewSonic 10, though I am not 100% sure about this.
Also, will all Android apps work on the x86 architecture? If they don't work via Android Market, is there another way to get them working?
Hopefully someone can help me out here.
Can anyone help me out.....?
I also have a Viewpad 10Pi
I also have a Viewpad 10Pi and I am wondering if there is anyway to root it? Thanks Tom

[Q][Intel Z2580] Ramos i8 & Ramos i9 - Custom Roms

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone with a Ramos i8/i9 has experimented with other custom roms and/or are aware of any stable roms that worked well with this Intel driven device ?
Thank you !
I have bought the Ramos i8 tablet (Have not received it yet though) and I am interested in testing custom roms as well. It has similar hardware with the Ramos i9 for which there are some custom roms around already (I think) so I suppose it could be ported from there (?)
There is an androidx86 project that has already released a 4.4 KitKat android for x86 devices (netbooks etc.) Could something like that be used in Ramos i8, i9 or similar Intel processor devices somehow? I suppose the install process is the hardest part...
Here is the link to the project:
http://www.android-x86.org/releases/releasenote-4-4-rc1
FYI I already asked in their group and there is a problem with the drivers of the PowerVR GPU. They are proprietary so it is not supported by androidx86.
Since there is no forum subsection for the i9 I could not post but I have some custom stuff running on my i9. I was asking the Slatedroid community if they wanted a release (which I could work on polishing) however not if only a few people will use it and help it keep going.

Hi Seven I'm quite keen on experimenting and would love to give ur concoction a try and I'm sure panpapad would too...
and what better place to share it than on XDA as it might draw other devs to help contributed.
Thanks heaps if you do share it on here...! :victory:
im very interested
Hey seven2099. I'm very interested in a custom rom. Was trying to post on the slatedroid forum but have to wait for the damn approval before I can post. So soon ill be n there with you. I was also wondering if anyone as found a custom recovery which works on the i9.
Hey guys! Sure I'd like to experiment with custom roms but I got the Ramos i8 not i9 tablet. It has very similar specs but still its a different tablet. So if anyone wants to work on i8 I can test .
Ramos i9 post-root issue
Hi guys,
Total newbie here.
Can anyone provide assistance on a root gone wrong?
Long story short: bought Ramos i9, rooted it in order to remove all the Chinese apps, and now no sound is coming through the speakers (only headphones).
Have tried rebooting, factory reset, and a second root. No luck.
Adb I used is adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20140321. I tried Nexus 4 drivers after the second root, still nothing.
Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
P
Ramos i9 firmware-Update goes wrong
Hi, I have a problem with my Ramos i9.
I have loaded and run the latest firmware from the ramos.com.cn website. After I start the Update-Process the screen goes black and the device will not boot again. I think I install the wrong firmware for a Ramos i9 with GPS. Can somebody help me to reinstall the firmware by using a Windows-PC. Thanks!

Hi Seven2099,
This tab is rebranded and sold as digiflip xt901 in India. Please share some of your ideas on firmware mods for this.
Thanks
Suren
Hi everybody I have Ramos i8 branded as polypad i8 in Turkey.
I research whether there is another ramos i8 that is branded diffrently in an another country.
I have found one in india.
called Digiflip Pro XT 801 Tablet and with sim card Digiflip Pro XT811 Tablet.
XT 801 and XT 811 are the same configuration except 3G.
There are some who achieved to update XT811 to kitkat(4.4) but what about XT801(i8) ?
Here is link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/kitkat-firmware-update-procedure-t2984011?nocache=1
Is it worth to try? What do you think.
Edit:
Not working becuse has different Rom.
Not try.

No you cant......the firmware of xt801 is different from xt811......this may brick your device

The Dell Venue 3830 tablet (8 and 7 inch-3730) is to my knowledge the only z2580 based android tablet that has an official kitkat release.
Since there are so many different z2580 devices out there without updates newer than 4.2.2 it would be a great project for many people (including me) to see if that Dell rom can be ported and optimized for other z2580 devices.
My major issue is ram on my 1GB z2580 tablet (only ~200mb free after clean reboot). A kitkat update would in many ways solve that issue and make the tablet a solid useable device. (No my kernel does not support swap.) The cpu is quite fast and a shame to waste.
Edit: Asus Zenfone 5 and 6 are both Intel z2580 devices with official kitkat updates, (and cyanogenmod seems to be supported, surprisingly). Their roms could be useful for the z2580 community. Possibly moreso than the Dell Venue since reports show the kitkat firmware to have some stability issues for some people.

Good news.
When i ask ramos firm, they said that they will issue new rom as soon as intel issue a rom apropriote for x86.
They blamed intel for not issuing new rom app to x86.
For more ram you should use greenify. It makes the ram free up to 460 mb.
And not to mention nova launcher with dcikonz theme.

[Q] HP Stream 7. Can run Android?

Hi everyone, I bought an Hp Stream 7 some weeks ago. This tablet has the same hardware of the Trekstor Surftab Xintron i 7.0 but the Hp Strem 7 has Windows 8.1, while the Xintron i 7.0 has Android 5.0 Lollipop,
so i think: Is it possible do a porting of Android on Stream 7? Thank you to everyone!!
Try android x86. there are plenty of guides on how to install it. there shouldn't be much of a difference between the ordinary pc and your tablet.

Except that the HP Stream 7 is x64. However, it does run 32-bit Windows 8.1, so maybe it's okay?

Every x86_64 bit processor supports execution of x86_32 code. So, since you can disable secure boot in uefi, you are free to try it. however some things may be broken, wifi or bluetooth for example.

Install Linux on ASUS MeMo Pad Full HD10 ME302

Hello everyone,
I've got the Android tablet "ASUS MeMo Pad Full HD10 ME302" which is on Stock-ROM and unrooted at the moment and I wanted to know if it is possible to install a native Linux like Mint or Ubuntu?
It has a x86-Architecture in its Intel Atom Z2560, 1,6GHz, 2GB RAM and a 16GB HDD.
I already found some solutions for rooting it and the "LinuxOnAndroid" project seems quite promissing with its x86 versions of Ubuntu.
Does anyone have any experiences with putting Linux on this machine?
Thanks

You could try rooting your device if not already and download Linux deploy

Installing Nougat on any device?

Hi guys, I have a question for you. I have a tablet, which is not supported above android 4.2, but it is not that old (Asus Memopad 8 K00l). Nobody even on XDA posted ROM for Android 4.4 or higher. But: I can install Android Nougat on my laptop and it surprisingly works without any issues. Why is it so difficult to install it on some random tablet device?

Every handheld device like a smartphone or tablet has its own hardware.
The kernel, for example, needs to be programmed about which drivers to load.
And most of the time, each device has its own drivers.
Each ROM is built for a particular device, that's why one ROM which works on one tablet does not work on another.
But in case of large devices, like laptops, they are designed so that any kind of OS can be installed upon them according to the concerned person's needs.
There are operating systems which work only on part of a computer chip.
These OSes help in installing almost any OS in a laptop.
The same are probably not available for handheld devices like tablets
