APN in Cyanogenmod for Australian Vodafone - Optimus One, P500, V General

Just something I have noticed in all the custom roms I have tried on my P500 and GT540 is that the APN is always WRONG.
Everybody separates the MMS and Internet APN for Vodafone in Australia however that stops MMS from sending and the APN set as vfinternet .au although working means that you don't get any of the free data use like Facebook and Twitter as that APN doesn't allow it.
Correct APN for Australia is live .vodafone .com then leave all fields blank using same APN the MMS details get added to the bottom.
MMS will not work at all (on my devices anyway) if its in a seperate APN using either Stock messages or GO SMS.
It Should Read as
Name Vodafone Au
APN live .vodafone. com
Proxy <Not Set>
Port <Not Set>
Username <Not Set>
Password <Not Set>
Server <Not Set>
MMSC http ://pxt[/url]. vodafone .net.au/pxtsend
MMS Proxy 10.202.2.60
MMS Port 8080
MCC 505
MNC 03
Authentication Type <Not Set>
APN Type <Not Set>
APN Protocol IPv4
Thats the APN settings that work fully on new and old baseband for Vodafone Australia and gives you free Facebook and Twitter.
Vfinternet .au does not give you the free FB and Twitter. Note the spaces in the addresses are not meant to be there just XDA wouldn't let me post it as it told me it was an external link???

Have you had any luck with the new "MyVodafone" app on Android?
I can't get the damn thing to synch usage stats in either the app itself or its widget.
I thought it was the service but I installed it today on a phone with stock Vodafone ROM and the app loaded info in split second... anyone else have this problem on CM?

No I haven't tried it I don't tend to use things written by vodafone I stick with the apps and progs that I know work on custom roms.

MMS Problems

Hey guys,
I have a HERO and do i love it .... but one thing though.... i have an apn for 3g/gprs with which gprs works just fine ....i also have the mms settings done in the phone ..... but the mms only comes when i switch to the mms settings :S .... thats confusing ... isnt there a way that both the settings co exist and i dont have to switch ...
Appreciate your help peeps
You need to change your MMS APN so that it has an "APN type" of "mms". Once you've done this, the MMS APN will no longer be directly selectable.
You might also need to change the type of your "normal" APN to "default".

Dave

Thanks alot for the quick responds Mr. Fox .... by the APN type u mean the option which is at the bottom most section of the Apn settings page ?
I have just typed "default" for APN TYPE for GPRS and " mms" for the APN Type for the mms apn ... that oughtta do it right ?
Yes, that is correct on both counts!
Regards,
Dave
Well now i am really worried :S ... no i cant get it to work .... I am living in Pakistan and i'll post the mms settings for my operator so maybe someone could tell me what i might be doing wrong and/or what is the best way to apply these settings.
Ok so i already have an APN which is for Gprs ( i didnt touch it and browsing is just fine )
FOr MMS i created a new APN settings page ...

Someone in this thread posting MMS APN settings for Warid, though they are identical to yours. I suggest PM'ing the person who posted they may be able to post.
Check your original data APN too, and try removing anything related to MMS in case this is causing your issue.

Can't send SMS messages / Please Help

Hi all,
I have run in to a quite annoying problem, all of a sudden my HTC Hero from Telus ( Canadian Provider) has lost it's ability to send SMS messages (this happend after I had rooted the phone and played with a few ROMs). I have tried a few different APPs and also have tried at least 3 different ROMs. I have formatted my SD card, and wiped data a few times. Nothing seems to help. Whenever I send a text msg, right away a get a notification that the msg was not sent.
Any one has any idea as to why this is happening, the funny thing is that I am able to receive text messages but not to sent.
I have also entered my APNs and it still does not work.
Can it be the carrier? I am with Rogers BTW.
Thanks all in advance!
You have a Telus phone on Rogers? You have unlocked it, then, correct?
Just in case, here are the Telus APN settings:

You are correct Sir, it is aTelus phone, what boggles me is that it was working fine before being on Rogers APN settings and not haveing any settings at all. Once again, it is not the MMSC that I am having trouble with, but jsut the simple SMS messages.

MMS settings for X10i on Tmobile USA?

I somehow figured out the MMS settings for my X10i when I bought it, but now I did the update to the latest firmware and cannot figure out the MMS settings on the $10 data plan on Tmobile USA, can someone check the settings they are using and help me? I'm going nuts over here.
The only thing you would need to change is in the main APN settings, under APN name replace "epc..... " with "internet2.voicestream.com"
There is no need to change anything in the MMS APN.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
That's what i tried at first and it didn't work, but I will give it another go, thanks!
Im on AT&T and I had the same problem. Im sure its different between networks (worth a try), But basically I filled in all options in the APN settings. Try surfing the web to find a complete collection of settings.

You can also quite simply call t-mobile customer care and ask them.
They're usually very nice and helpful.
On my X10i its
epc.tmobile.com
and every thing else is left untouched.
But as you've got a $10 data plan, it could be different for you.
I'm also on a $10 data plan with T-Mobile and this is what I have;

Hey guys, I have an X10i and I'm with AT&T but I can only use the Edge network, I was wondering if there's an extra setting for the MMS because I can't send or receive MMS. Thanks~
I am only getting EDGE speed with T-mobile but was getting 3G with AT&T. I just have the "epc." setting in my APN.

Do you receive clear pictures in your text messaging. Like when someone send you a picture in text does it look clear on your x10.
I tried to post a thread asking for help regarding this and no one respond. Dont know why.

Rogers samsung Galaxy S3 I747M APN Issue

Hi Everyone,
I am new to Android. I just got a galaxy S3 from Rogers and I unlocked it. I am now using it under Fido. I have 2 major issues that maybe the forum can help me out.
1) when I got the phone the build in settings for Fido LTE did not work so I added my own APN and it now works. The problem is that is I take out the battery or shut off and restart the phone I lose the APN settings. According to Samsung the Apn is fixed to rogers and you cannot add any new APN. Is there a work around to allow me to store more APN as I travel a lot ?
2) I have visual voice mail. since this is a rogers phone, the visual voice mail program is built into the phone. So when I download the visual voice mail app for fido it tells me that there is conflict with another program in the system. Is there a way to get rid of the visual voice mail app for rogers so my visual voice mail for fido will work ?

You seem to have the same issue I had.
Since fido does not have LTE yet, this is the apn required to HSPA on fido.

This should help out with data, tethering and mms.
Not sure about the visual voicemail though cause I dont have that service.
i have the same APN issue with my rogers S3 on at&t, I cant change the apn type, i only get 3 options internet, mms, or internet and mms. anyway to change this ? or do i have to flash a at&t rom or CM10 on it ?

Your best bet is to create a new APN and use that. After you have created the required APN, just select it and it should work fine.

I have someone working on an MMS app. Unfortunately they don't have much time these days. We always have MMS problems when flashing devices to Cricket. The app would work the same way as the one for the CDMA carriers.
I tested it with Solavei. It works, but the notifications with JB are off.
So you guys saying I can buy this phone from verizon then put my ATT sim in and everything will work, data ?

You should get talk, text, data (HSPA, I think there are some questions about HSPA+, and LTE is a different band so you won't get that).
You'll have to enter the AT&T APN. I can send with GOsms and the MMSC entered in those settings. Still can't receive. That's why I have a friend working on that.
I usually work on CDMA stuff and have a normal 9/5. That's why I've left the door kind of open here.
can't get ATT APN to work
I am having trouble setting up my DNA to work on ATT data network. I put the micro sim from my iphone 4s in the DNA, changed the APN following op's settings but could never get mobile data connected. Making phone call is fine. Did I do anything wrong? Any input appreciated.

I am able to receive mms with a Tmo sim. I have not changed any apn settings so no data yet.
I was able to just drop in a T-mo card and pick up data.. But as you'll know edge only. With brief moments of HSDPA when I'm assuming I was close enough to a tower that has been upgraded to the 1900 band. Well I decided to go to at&t and grab a sim to see if there was an improvement. I couldn't personally get any of the APN settings to work that were presented in the op and being that I'm new to anything gsm I've got no clue why: Lol.. Could it be a location thing? However I did find a setup that does indeed pickup data for me. Figured I'd share just in case there were others having the same issue. Keep in mind MMS is still hit and miss. I've had them go through out&in but it fails most of the time.

Since we all know there is an issue sending and receiving MMS, I do the bare minimum to get my AT&T SIM to work. I create a new APN and only change 3 lines.....
Under "Name" I put PTA
Under "APN" I put phone
Under "MMS Port" I put 8080 [more secure than port 80]
Leave everything else alone. Don't add your MMSC address, proxy or anything else.
Now save and you are good to go. I get HSDPA. Don't know if it's + or not, but I get the exact same speeds as I normally do with my AT&T phones.

I personally tried exactly as you referenced... I got zilch! Lol.. my device would not grab data until I used the Cingular apn information. As far as the MMS you're exactly right. I tried numerous combination with no result. The few times it did go through seem to be a fluke. I just threw the Cingular apn settings up because I was able to grab data and hopefully it may help someone else that tried the simple apn settings to no avail... I'm going to order a Straight Talk sim this weekend and see how that goes as well. I've got a month prepaid for both T-Mobile and AT&T so I've got a little time to play around with everything.
Side note: man my family and friends thought I was a dork before now I've got a VZW Nex and GSM DNA that I'm carrying around all the time! Lol

I personally tried exactly as you referenced... I got zilch! Lol.. my device would not grab data until I used the Cingular apn information. As far as the MMS you're exactly right. I guess my friend is nowhere to be found for the MMS app.
Anyways I think it has something to deal with the APN whitelist in the build.prop. Notice they don't allow for the mms APN. Does someone want to play with that as I don't have another carrier's SIM right now.

I am willing to do whatever you need. I have the DNA Unlocked and Rooted on stock ROM. I have a valid AT&T and T-Mobile SIM card. However, I am coming from 5 years of iPhone hacking, so I would need to be handled with kid gloves.
Just let me know what you need done, or point me to a tutorial thread.
