[Q] Archos G9 101 1.5Ghz version screen deflect - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

well, actually there was no customer service from that ****ty archos
so i am gonna type the problem all over again
to this forum and kindly asking for help.
Here is the message:
Screen often deflect after reboot, long use, long stand by, using multi touch over 3 points..etc
and i have to calibrate every time it deflect, this makes me frustrated
is there any method to fix this problem?
this is what i guess ; due to more than 3 points of multitouching
the touchscreen positioning gone mad and it rapidly pointing at the edge of the screen ,
is it possible to disable or reduce multitouch points . (by any method , including root)
finally, thank you very much for viewing and replying this thread
THANK YOU!

I haven't had any screen issues with mine at all, regardless of use. I use 3-point multi-touch all the time in Osmos HD. That's how you open the menu, no issues.

I haven't had to calibrate mine at all, just did the setup initially and haven't had any problems.

Maybe a hardware problem?

I don't think that's possible, but it wouldn't hurt to look around.
---------
Where did you get your G9 101 1.5GHz? Is yours the 512MB model, or the 1GB RAM model? I have the 512MB, and I honestly haven't had a single problem with it since I got it. No reboots, no freezing, no slow-down, no problems.

Yeah it sounds like you might have gotten a pre-production model or something. Maybe it wasn't a finished build. I would take it back if you have the ability to.

Maybe try installing the latest firmware updates they are listed in the development section. I had this problem before and my case was the digitizer went out with seems to be common with this phone. Hope it helps

yea, im thinking that its a software prob, not hardware only bacause i can make it go away just by turning the screen on and off. im trying the the screen testing app now

Here's the solution I found it works phenomenally, the phones faster less glitchy and has so many improvements with the Ice Cream Sandwich reboot.
ZR3DX ics 2.1 , if this doesn't fix your problem, . it's a digitizer issue, make sure you do a complete wipe and use Titanium Backup

In this case, I would recommend him to reflash a stock ROM instead of custom ROM to check if everything goes well.
Check CPU settings, maybe 1 core is off line when it should be online. Min CPU frequency is set to low or high

I also recommend using SET CPU it's totally worth the 2 dollars you pay for it., it dynamically changes processing power /voltage going to your cores, it easily doubles your battery life, and you can have manual control if you want. It's really handy when playing hi res movies and games. I use a dock and the mhl adapter to watch stuff on my 42" through a standard hdmi cable. My phone is faster then my laptop (2ghz) .
I love the face lock feature in ics.
The only real con to my suggestion is its a bit like going from windows xp to vista in that gui is different. But once you learn your way around, you'll never know how you got by without it. I went through about 10 roms before I decided on this one. Good luck !
Sir, your problem has nothing to do with apps or firmare. the problem is more than likely a kernel or hardware issue. Test this by flashing a different Rom and or kernel. If problem still persists then you will have to get it serviced.
Most probably digitizer issue
Hi it seems more of a digitizer issue than software one. If in warranty then get it replaced or order it on amazon and use video guide to replace(not that easy, BE CAREFUL)
best of luck. :fingers-crossed:

[Q] My 3rd 80 G9 in less than a year, how's yours?

I just received my 3rd tablet in the mail today under warranty. The first one became unresponsive to the touch screen and since it was in the Texas morning sun I thought it was my fault and bought another. The 2nd one did the same thing 4 months later even though I had taken extreme care with it, I sent this one back to the factory. I had rooted both tablets and was running versions of ICS from this site. Neither was overclocked although I do have the software to do that. I'm thinking I should stay with stock OS for a while and see if the 3rd time is the charm.
Anyone else have their tablet just mysteriously stop responding for no apparent reason? Other than the screen, everything else worked including mail and internet; I just could not unlock it to read anything.

Hi There
My touch screen stop working months ago!! I'm pretty sure it's a loose connection, If I build a fresh android from source and squeeze the top of the tab It sometimes comes back to life, I should have really sent it back but I've got a heavily modified version of adb that allows me to easily send input to it and I just plug a keyboard and mouse into a usb hub. I had another one that had "ghost touches".
I found the screen doesn't seem to like temperature changes and would get very cold to the touch If had it in my bag when travelling and really the build quality is terrible but It doesn't move off my desk as it is used only for development and I'm too lazy to send it back. meh!
With regard roms. if you were using stock rooted then the only difference between them and the stock is su, and extra busybox, everything else is as archos intended there shouldn't be anything detrimental in there. If you don't need root for anything then you might as well use stock.
--Thanks for the feedback. If someone gets Jellybean 4.1 operating for this tablet, I will root it again.
I'm on my second. Three first one had a problem worth the screen where it became greyscale soon after I started playing a youtube video. The first time it happened, I was somehow able to get it working again. The second time, I tried reloading the OS (honeycomb at the time) and resetting to factory settings and was unsuccessful.
I sent it back to QVC and got a replacement under warranty. I haven't had any problems with this one. I dropped it when getting into my car. The back came loose, but it easily snapped back into place with nothing but a few scratches on the side where it hit.

If my second dies, I'm getting a refund, not a replacement.

I'm on my two original tablets. Both have been dropped. My sons a lot, mine took its first spill the other night. Popped it right on the corner with the kickstand. There is a small crack where the small screw is under the stand. Its causing the stand to pop open easy. Other than that the hardware is working perfectly.

So my replacement tablet is still working well, so now I want to root it again. The latest Archos firmware makes it a *****. Would it be better to use the console and reset the tablet before rooting?
I had three 101G9 tablets, each with separate faults.
When I sent the last one back they upgraded me to a 101XS ... which has a faulty touchscreen!
I won't buy an Archos tablet again.

I've got several Archos tablets, and overall... and oddly... I've had very few problems with any of them other that some bad firmware upgrades or a few bad apps (including some of Google's own stuff) that eventually got fixed. I guess I've been just lucky somehow with all of my G9's being older ones with only 512M RAM (which is a bit sad because I know 1G RAM would increase performance).
The MAJOR problem I've had all started when Archos released the newer 4.0.2x firmware releases. Had to find out how to install rooted stock 4.0.7 to get a usable device again.
I will agree though, that if Archos wants to being totally idiotic with their firmware and REFUSES to provide a clean way back to a previous firmware (that actually works)... well, I too will NEVER be buying any new Archos device. Only way I would buy another Archos is *IF* it was a G9 model and I was absolutely certain that it did not come shipped with firmware higher than 4.0.7. Otherwise, forget Archos completely!

I put in rooted 4.0.7 last night, than 4.0.28. Some odd things happening like games dropping out and unable to find wi-fi when moved to a different network unless I reboot the tablet. If this continues it's back to 4.07 for me.

The really sad part is that if you have ever installed ANY of the 4.0.2x official firmware is that even when trying to go back to a 'rooted' 4.0.7 there are a bunch of leftovers that just don't clear out. I've done some seriously drastic things like AFTER installing rooted stock 4.0.7 of going back with ADB and deleting several syestem/app files and the dalvick-cache... and then doing some of that a second time again. Even then though there still does seem to be some odd things left that ARE NOT part of the official Archos 4.0.7 firmware.
If you are interested send me a PM, otherwise it's really too hard to explain what I'm talking about (and might not even make sense in any reply I send you).
Anyway, as far as "I" am concerned, Archos just tried to screw up as many of the G9 tablets they could with the 4.0.2x firmware simply to try to FORCE people to buy their newer G10 tablets (which DO NOT WORK RIGHT either). Kind of the same STUPID attitude several other companies had before.... "Oh, that don't work, buy this one then".... Only real difference is THAT IDIOTIC APPROACH to marketing failed for the other companies... yet, Archos seems to 'think' they can still keep doing it.
In short, SIMPLY DO *NOT* BUY ANYTHING FROM ARCHOS! Some people wonder why most of the world hates the French, but Archos keeps giving more reasons to NOT TRUST a company based in France. The Archos G9 tablets COULD have become a world leader, but for whatever reason Archos decided they would rather kill of as many of a 'good thing' as they could just to push other even worse devices on the market... something to do with EVERYONE (mostly morons) that absolutely wanted Jelly Bean (and I'm not going to buy any new Android device with that worthless crap). So I'm not only done with Archso, but also any newer Android device... never wanted, still don't want, and never will want the crap Google is trying to turn the Android OS into.
After all, *IF* I wanted a device with a dozen apps that are constantly sending info back... well, I might just as well go with a Windows 8 device (since I know my Windows computers are already sending all kinds of feedback to Microsoft as it is, Google is trying to go BEYOND what Microsoft has already been doing for years.).
In other words... all *I* want is a device that actually works, NOT ONE THAT SPENDS ALL OF ITS TIME REPORTING EVERYTHING I DO BACK TO SOMEBODY ELSE. And don't give me any of the bogus 'anonymous' nonsense because EVERY device has a certain device number, and EVERY internet connection has an IP address. As soon as you register a device or set up an e-mail address THEY KNOW. And, Google is going FAR BEYOND what anyone should ever allow them to know about (your location, what websites you view, what your interests are, etc.).
Fingers crossed but I haven't had _any_ HW quality issues with my G9 80 8GB 1GB. I've tried most of the ROMs available and have noticed that every now and then it makes things a lot easier if I just completely format the device and re-install stock using a .aos file.

Thinking about doing the same thing as it wigs out sometimes and goes real slow.
Mine is crap. Battery blew up like a capri sun pouch just after the warranty expired, archos wants $77 to fix it. This is after I gave them a second chance when my 70 quit charging and they wanted $125 to fix that. Not even so much as a "sucks to be you", when i told them the story of their own products, they just reply with their repair costs. ill never touch their products again

I got a 101 g9 and have touchscreen problems sometimes. when i get ghost inputs just recalibrate the touchscreen and when it stops working just "draw" and swipe with 4 fingers on the screen for a while. after a few seconds it comes back to usual behaviour. hope that helps others with that idiotic touchscreen...

I had planned on keeping it as a spare, but have decided if it dies on me a DNR order is in effect.
They sent me a new device
I leave here the last reclaim on the archos support
Hello, I´ve received a new device to replace the first one that I Had, all the info in RET-XXXXXXXXXXX, but the new device came with several problems:
Ram memory 465 mb !!!!???
Processor- ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l)!!??? 1.2 MHz!!!!!
And a build/Fabric defect on de screen, that when you shake the device a water bubble seems to appear and ruins the image that is showing.
I do have photos of proof of all the defects, including a video with the water bubble showing when shaking.
I also sense that it is working a lot slower then the first one I had, for that went to check the real system info....and bad news came along.
Request a immediate re-change of the product, for one that has the specific system info that I paid for. 1 GB Ram, 1.5 dual core processor, Mali 400 GPU , and a screen without any defect!
Tank you
Regards
PS: I can send you the photos and videos of the problems encountered, just send me a email.
Call Tech Support immediately and tell them what you are seeing. They will run you through several tests and then send you a new unit.

We just received this phone as well and will be putting a full review up soon on youtube and the site. It appears the phone is either an OEM or copy (more likely) ZP800H / ZP810. Beyond looks and specs, it installs "ZP800H" drivers when plugged into a PC.
I will have a full video review up soon on the site today and attempt some auto root methods as well.

Okay, the good news is the phone isn't bricked. Bad news is Bin4ry method certainly doesn't work. Tried both normal and special modes.
I bought this phone pre-rooted from MeriMobiles. If by the time i get it (2 weeks give or take) there is no root, i'll be happy to share a dump of the rom to help get it rooted

Interesting. The ZP900H is the same as ZP910. What's the screen resolution in yours? if it is a ZP900H it should be QHD

That means your phone is an A9600, not an H7500+

Yes, that is what I said I have in my original post, I mentioned the other ones because I'm told mine is pretty much a clone of them at least with regards to size and looks of the phone. It's not too common of a phone, I haven't seen much in the way of information on this phone, just thought it was a very decent phone ( better than my SG2 in most all areas)
My son suggested maybe seeing if I could find information on rooting it, hense my post and question here.
ahhhh, i always forget you can have titles on posts on this forum >_<
I think MT6890 phones are a bit too new, thus the lack of development so far. Should pick up at least enough to get root soon
Its okay. Unfortunately the screen got cracked tonight by accident Messaged the supplier but not sure what they can do for me. I only just got the phone a few days ago. Hopefully I can send it back to get a screen replacement. Thank you for your replies.

Does your phone come with CWM or just with the stock recovery(3e)? If it has CWM installed, you can root it easily with a flashable zip file.

Thanks for the reply. I just checked, and sadly it is the stock recovery (3e). I would try to flash CWM if there was a way, but I don't think there is without a bricking yet.
I also found there is a factory mode for this phone however (pwr + vol dwn) and it contains a plethora of options, problem is, it's all in chinese. I saw an option called GPS, it was followed by chinese characters, so I was too afraid to select anything.
i just rooted my phone H7500+

p.s. since im new to this forum, i cant post links to external sites, just remove the [dot] from the link and replace it with . and it should lead you to the website.
How did you manage to crack the screen? Is this a glass screen by the way?
I really like my H7500+, have it since March 19 and I really love the extremely great WiFi coverage. The GPS works with mine, takes about 2 to 3 minutes to get a sat lock. I tried Sygic today, just on my way home (walking) and the signal from the satellites seem to be strong enough.
great phone, a bit heavy, true, yet still a great phone.

ThL W100 Wake Up taking agggggeeeeesss!!!

Hi All, real quick question, just taken delivery of one of them Chinese ThL W100 Quad Core phones, fantastic bit of kit when its alive and working, very nice indeed
The issue I'm having which I will shortly try to find an email address for ThL themselves and ask is this: -
Although the W100 isn't even on the ThL website! :S (is it a fake? :S)
Basically, it's not waking up straight away every time... Its taking anything up to 20ish seconds to wake up to the lock screen...
If I hold the phone in the exact same position and press the power button to wake it, then lock it again it'll work perfect every time unless I move it around, then it wants to mess about again...
I believe its something to do with the G-Sensor? Is it some silly feature so that it can't accidentally unlock in your pocket or something? Or is it just being faulty..? Also I did consider the possibility of it dropping its Quad Core 1.2GHz clock speed right down when its sleeping to save battery and take ages for it to wake up to a decent clock speed again? But that wouldn't explain why it's ok if I keep it in the exact same position in unlock->lock->unlock succession..?
Any help will be very much appreciated!!!
Thanks, Adam.
Strange problem ...no idea why ...but can you tell other things about phone

hi,
Can you backup your data and do a factory reset? perhaps it is due to on of your old app conflicting with screen unlock
if no app installed, try anyway a factory reset

Hi Adam,
we have the same problem....with my W100 but what i did is that i download the (Awesome On Off Ultimate) app and i run it as administrator
...in this app u can bypass the set up of the phone (that always come to deep sleep) that is why it takes time to wake up. and now my phone is okay....i hope it will help
Jay
I thought I'd reply the fix to my own post just incase someone else comes accross it...
All it came down to in the end was the Memory Card...
I put a 4gb Memory Card in from a Galaxy Ace that had an Ext4 partition and Linux swap... I think the card was a bit knackered to be honest or the partition table wasn't very happy, either way when the card was removed phone worked perfect... so I formatted the card with just 1x Fat32 partition and whacked it back in the card slot, all is working perfect!!!
For anyone that wants a very quick opinion of this phone aswel: -
Mega cheap device, very well performing quadcore, 1gb ram, amazing battery life!!! And working absolutely spot on! I'd buy one again and again if I had to...
FANTASTIC VALUE!

as the HTC or samsung ones. All phones are ****. Anyways this phone has the problem when wake up takes 3-4seks. But this is ROM related. i have LEWA it wake ups 2x faster then original.
Cores have nothing to do with speed. this is just one of those ways to fool customers so they buy ****.

A few issues/problems

I just bought my Z today and am having a few issues with it. First, the automatic brightness doesn't work. That is if it is turned on/off from the menu bar it does not work at all. If it is changed within settings the brightness does change to a certain level and that's all it does. Second, the tablet is extremely slow installing some applications. I have owned many different android devices and never experienced the absolute slowness this tablet has when installing some apps. Not all apps install slow, but I had one take over a minute when it should have taken about 5 seconds. And finally when using the browser, the touchscreen becomes very unresponsive when downloading and installing applications. I try to scroll by swiping the screen and sometimes the tablet just completely misses seeing that input.
Edit - I tested the auto brightness some more and it does work, it's just not as sensitive as some other devices I am used to.
Edit2 - I think the slow install could be a bug with the custom skin Sony uses on top of the o/s. It's sometimes getting 'stuck' displaying the install message.

If you've just bought it today and you haven't too much stuff on it I'd try a factory reset and try again. I have had three different models of Asus tabs (all rubbish), still have my original galaxy I/O tab (great for its age) and I can honestly say this is the most fluid and rapid tab I have seen.... That includes installing apps which as soon as I started using it caused me to remark how quickly it downloaded and installed from the play store.
Auto brightness is also sensitive and rapid on my unit, to the point it annoyed me at the beginning cos i thought it was too sensitive...
If that doesn't work maybe your unit is faulty

Worth a try but still think it's unusual for him to have these problems. For me the benefit of 370 upgrade was screen sensitivity improvement, the app install problem was not apparent either before or after upgrade

I returned the 16gb model and bought a 32gb instead. I think the auto bright is just less abrupt than I am used to, but it does work. The only problem I am having on the 32gb which I did not have (or notice) on the 16gb are the 'phantom touches'. Twice today the tablet went into the settings all by itself. I'm going to research this issue more....

Hi Rob, there I would recommend latest software for the screen sensitivity and if that doesn't cure the problem I'm sorry to say that it could be a faulty digitizer, so back to shop again
