[ROM & KERNEL] [RAY] [ST18i] ICS 4.0.3 SE Leaked ROM v2.2 [17-Feb updated ROM] - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi guys,
Since there are SE 4.0.3 leaked rom for ARC, so I decided to port the ARC rom to our Ray.
I'm not a developer, just a ROM cooker.
This rom is based on leaked rom posted in ARC section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402854
thanks to caqo71 for providing the link, also specially thanks for the one that originally leaked the rom for us.
The purpose of this ROM are for preview what will we get on next SE official release, and second all, a ROM for ones that want AOSP style, but still can switch to SE style, so we don't have to stick just in 1 style (SE or CM), but lets focus on the bugs now
[Update news 17-Feb]
Bring back all T9 keyboard languages & TTS
Merging previous fix & update.
No important fix was made
With new kernel, the graphic glitch will only stuck in 1 process, when you leave the app, the glitch will gone also.
Still with the setting using built-in memory management in Settings >> Developers options >> tick 1. Force GPU rendering, 2. Background process limit, choose anything beside Standard limit), the result is this ROM is getting more usable
Important note: Due to regaining more free ram spaces, some localization files were removed, such as Japanese keyboard, dictionary , etc. (waste around 20 MB) so please edit script (cleaner.sh) inside update.zip before flashing,
choose files according to your local language, default is English US
Latest update are ROM v2.2 (AOSP Style) & 1.2 (SE Style)
Kernel v2.2
[Info]
1. v1.0 is initial ROM, SE style with some bloat ware.
2. It's a leaked rom, so bugs are expected (please report bugs, hopefuly with fixing solutions )
3. It's for testing purpose only, not for daily use (please use ICS 4.0.1 Alpha ROM for daily use)
4. I hope other devs are participating in building this ROM to become a daily use ROM
5. No ETA, I'll do the best I can do.
[Not Working / Known Issues]
Since this is a leaked ROM there are some issues :
1. VIDEO PLAYBACK buggy (no proper /lib/hw/overlay.default.so ), temp solution: turn off Bravia Engine
2. Graphics glitches (Lack of memory allocator, temporary solution go to >> Settings >> Developers options >> tick 1. Force GPU rendering, 2. Background process limit, choose anything beside Standard limit
3. Some apps from Market might be FCs (due to incompatibility with 4.0.3 / SDK 15) & maybe some random reboots
[Requirements ]
1. Baseband 64 (4.0.2.A.0.62), 56 is OK too. (Need further confirmation)
2. Unlocked bootloader
3. Supplied files (4.0.3 kernel/boot.img is a must)
[Installation instructions]
1. Flash baseband 64 with Flashtool (skip to step 2 if yours already on baseband 64) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21365966&postcount=12
2. Download v1.0 ROM as a base, save it on SD-Card
3. Download ROM updater LATEST version (kernel included inside), extract update.zip & save it on SD-Card
4. Flash kernel with fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot xxx-boot.img
reboot from fastboot
Code:
fastboot reboot
5. Start booting, press down ANY button once when BLUE LED triggered to get into CWM recovery
6. Backup your phone (flashing ROM will wipe your data)
7. Flash ROM's v1.0.zip (takes about 1 minute)
8. Flash any update.zip
9. Reboot (first boot takes around 2-3 minutes)

yes, please help, specially with already known bugs,
because I'm not a programer & don't know how to decompile lib (.so) file or even worse how to create one

not good idea to put both files on one filesharing!! so I have downloaded rom but now I should wait 30 min for dl little kernel! ehhh..
(ops, I have forgotten to add a big thanx for your sharing for us!!)
(you can put boot.img into zip file)
upd: this more cool than 4.0.1 preview! data works. some glitches present but not annoying.

chiefy009, I run titanium and began to remove all unneeded apps for me. at one moment all glitches disappeared.. I have removed everything that we usually delete in our 4pda rom. There are some delays, but in general, assemblage is much better previous! I even will leave it for the evening
droidwall works! (all ok with iptables support). ok: bluetooth, wifi, 3g data transfer. even my like opera-mini works! yes some lags occurred.. not freezes but this sees as delay after menu pushed.
I urgently recommend to install this assembling.
At begin while I kill apps by titanium there were many strips on the screen.

yep, it isn't working... Flashed the kernel, wiped all partitions, installed zip.
I tried also -> flash kernel->wipe all->flash zip->wipe data-> try to reboot, and all I see is the SE kernel logo
try first to do a SEUS stock restore if you are using something like se tweaked o BlendMIUI ported. As sony said, the ics alpha rom need to install over an stock sonyEricsson gingerbread rom.
Anyways i formated all partitions, installed again and running perfect now.
it's necessary to format the sd-card?
absolutely no needed

Recently I flashed fresh .42 stock rom, I tried official alpha form SE, it was working, but this modified version isn't booting
weird... you are the first known case, we are using this rom since yesterday with not-too-much problems. i only can suggest you something. Use the doomlord 1 shot kernel (the neo one posted inside this zip http://www.multiupload.com/1NN9VHTNOI ) to install the zip of our rom. after that fastboot the SE original boot.img from the alpha ics file
edit for add: not realy need to use doomlords one... just flash with fastboot the stock ics alpha boot.img after the zip install.
Yes it's working like a charm with SE boot.img
realy?, that suggest me our Neo V smartphones are not identicals.... cause thedr0idboy and me can run his compiled kernel without issues.
Yes really good job!
Can you please upload once again the boot.img you are using so i give it one last try.

Hi All,
First, i wanna say "Sorry if this was posted on this X10's Forum" .
Well.. after used custom kernels for GB Stock Roms, sometime i need to revert to Stock Kernel for Gingerbread, just for performance comparison or some other reasons.
Unfortunately, our Stock Kernel for Gingerbread isn't supporting any tweaks through init.d and it caused this Stock GB 2.3.3 Kernel looks "a bit lack of power " , if we compare it with any Custom Kernels for sure .
So.. below MOD will activate any scripts through init.d using Stock GB 2.3.3 Kernel on startup, so we can use lot of tweaks and an external modules (optional) using this Kernel (such as Supercharger, Seeder, CrossBreeder, rPEngine, etc), also i had included some of tweaks and fps uncap by Zdzihu too!.
Requirement :
- Rooted X10's Gingerbread Stock Rom.
- Installed Xrecovery.
Installation OP :
- Reboot into Xrecovery and Flash below init.d autorunner and tweaks pack (INIT-D-RUNNER-TWEAKS-FINAL.zip).
- Make a couple of reboots (2~3 times for every ~5 minutes).

LOL , nah, personally i hate the ugly face of stock GB rom bro , lol.
The purpose of this mode is to use Stock Kernel for any custom (based on stock) GB rom, because most of custom didn't support init.d runner for Stock Kernel and make this kernel looks so "slowly"
And thanks for your feedback.
Regards
- Yes, totally agree with you that Stock 2.3.3 does not look good. its home laugh has not had any sign of missed call + unread message like other cook roms. It is too difficult for us to know, and its call log is not good also.
- The only thing we can find out at stock is stable but it is so boring...
Sample Rom For Stock Kernel : B-STOCK
Since there is no one tested/report this on any custom GB stock roms, so... decided to post below sample rom .
Below sample rom (B-STOCK) is based on Achotjan Stock Remplacement Rom,
original thread is HERE , all Credits goes to him / SDE Team (Achotjan, Tof, International Player and Feravolt).
And i make this rom with some changes (including new features, tweaks, themes and fix for some small known bugs on the original rom).
Requirement :
- Locked/Unlocked Bootloader
- Stock Rom and Kernel with working Xrecovery.
Installation OP :
- Reboot into Xrecovery and flash the ROM :
Link for the Rom : http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?qvvp2y47vvlvgsg
- And then without reboot flash above INIT-D-RUNNER-TWEAKS-FINAL.zip , See my first post (post 1) and reboot and setup the phone.
- And flash this below Rom Updates through Xrecovery :
Rom Updates : http://www.mediafire.com/?tvo48b983bhmg0x
- Make a couple of reboots (2~3 time for every 3 minutes) and enjoy the rom using Stock Kernel, and according to my test this Stock Kernel still pretty good for today, off course for 998 MHz CPU Freq range only.
Screenshoot : See below pictures.
Note :
And we can try to use any other custom Kernels for stock GB roms for comparison only.
(Dont forget to flash wifi modul of any custom kernel you choosed).
FYI

Since there is no one tested/report this on any custom GB stock roms, so... decided to post below sample rom .
Below sample rom is based on Achotjan Stock Remplacement Rom,
original thread is HERE , all Credits goes to him / SDE Team (Achotjan, Tof, International Player and Feravolt).
And i make this rom with some changes (including tweaks, themes and fix for some known bugs on the original rom).
Requirement :
- Locked/Unlocked Bootloader
- Stock Rom and Kernel with working Xrecovery.
Installation OP :
- Reboot into Xrecovery and flash this ROM:
Link :
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?n8tgr80nfbb7kne
- And then without reboot flash above INIT-D-RUNNER-TWEAKS.zip - See my first post (post 1).
- Make a couple of reboots (2~3 time for every 3 minutes) and enjoy the rom using Stock Kernel, and according to my test this Stock Kernel still pretty good for today, off course for 998 MHz CPU Freq range only.
Screenshoot : See below pictures.
Note :
And then try to use any other custom Kernels for stock GB roms for comparison only.
(Dont forget to flash wifi modul of any custom kernel you choosed).

Lol , yeah most of users prefer stock fonts and icons .
For stock fonts please flash below zip through Xrecovery (STOCK-FONTS.zip), for icons, well sorry bro , need sometime to provide it (to re-theme framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk), may be i'll make it later (but i'm not promise , cuz i prefer this one :laugh.
Anyway, the topic is how fast our stock gb kernel if we compare it with custom kernels on the same CPU's freq (998 MHz max).
Again, thanks for the feedback :highfive:

Nice work bares , never though stock kernel can be so fast like this :good:
If i wanna use ferakernel v3.6, should i flash the addon that was provided for unofficial v23 marvel or your b-mad v1 ? , because i prefer ferakernel for stock , thanks

Re: [MOD] [ROM] [GB] Init.d Scripts using Stock Kernel
Are you kidding me, bares?
Woow, your mod is amazing!
You know i have 2 x10s, one for me, one for my wife. I could test for you.
Now, My x10 is on donuthd 2.2.9 with fera kernel 3.6; while my wife s x10 is on the same Rom with stock kernel and your super amazing zip.
Wow, I can say, it perform as good as fera's kernel, and some times even better.
I open each apps several times side by side in 2 x10s to compare, and I discover that stock is a much stable and consistent, I mean, for example, opening camera need 3 to 4 seconds every time, but in fera kernel, sometimes it takes 4 sec, sometimes it takes up to 8 or 9 sec to open the camera. Etc etc,
In conclusion, this mod is impressive, I am planning to go back to stock kernel on my x10 now.
At last, thanks for your contribution, don't quit, you are very helpful guy.

[ROM][RAY]Stock-based: GB 2.3.4 Illuminative build11 [19-05-2013] by Vleutmans

This thread of Illuminative ROM is a continuation on Repack4pda V7 ROM.
Reason for continuation is that the Repack4pda V7 was a very lightweight ROM with excellent performance.
My objective is to stay as close to stock as possible to avoid bugs, and only develop in the area of performance.
So for who is this ROM ? It's for :
- people who dont care about fancy GUI stuff, but prefer performance instead
- people who use the Ray also for gaming
- people who need smooth video camera recording in HD (even with image stabilizer on...yes)
- people who are fed up with flashing rom after rom to find the holy grale...there is no holy grale, only in a movie
However...there is a warning :
The risk of using this rom could mean there is "no way back" to ICS,CM7, CM9 or CM10 as you are spoiled with the snappy performance of this one.
Q :Whats so special about this ROM ?
A: It's so lean, that after first flash, you will see about 260 MB RAM free, and 410 MB internal storage space (build 10).....WOW
Plans for future builds :
- Improve rom if that is possible from technical point of view
Tip/hint : did you know you can swipe each notification away seperately? Just swipe it to the right, and see (build10)
Screenshots :
[ROM][RAY]Stock-based: GB 2.3.4 Illuminative by Vleutmans
Build10 is perfect already for many.
Build 11 is made on user request , and might not fit your needs...in that case i would suggest you use build10 instead.
Whats in this rom.
Changelog:
build11
- rom is de-odexed as repack (easier to maintain, don't shoot me....still plenty of space available on internal storage)
- soundrecorder replaced by original .62 stock (only visible when sending mms for example)
- original .62 camera back in (no autofocus issues anymore, still great quality)
- latest google talk (with video) inside. Can be upgraded on google play to "google hangout" if you want
- quickpic replaced with original .62 gallery (on user request)
- AIO toolbar as from repack built-in the rom
- separate searchlight app inside (can be put on homescreen, quicker access than in toggles and doesn't eat memory and is adfree)
- original semcdeskclock as from .62 stock rom (on user request)
- added live wallpapers from .62 stock (on user request)
- adrenobooster 0.6 in rom (could be more battery friendly?)
- multitasking improvement (jellyscream patcher) without affecting gaming
- most of supercharged V6 settings put in rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276 from zeppelinrox)
- entropy improvement inside (only when kernel supports init.d scripts)
- ANT+ support inside rom (on user request)
- kill foreground app (current app killer) added, visible in notifications (on my own request)
- system apps upgraded
- systemcleanup removed (on user request).. can be downloaded from google play if you want
build10:
+ added weather and news widget
+ added learning client (for learning keyboard)
+ added auto-APN
+ new build.prop
+ fully odexed (410+ Mb storage, 260 Mb ram free)
+ new toggle toolbar + white keyboard (better visibility)
+ One zipfile, so flash in one go to have it all
Build9:
- Adrenoboost 0.3
Build8 :
- quickpic instead of gallery3d
- init.d support in rom, so kernel doesn't need to support init.d scripts
- adfree
- updated superuser
- systemcleanup tool in rom, so system files will stay up to date
- semcworldclock 4in1 added
- calculator added
- AIO xperia S black keyboard + 2g3g toggle + flashlight toggle
- Camera HQ mod 14Mbit extreme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569309&highlight=extreme

The adreno config was already in the rom, but I accidentaly removed the init.d script belonging to it.
I will add the script here, and update the link to build9.
Remove the .txt extension of the attachment, then put it in /etc/init.d/directory, and make it executable.

I noticed that scrolling through a webpage or the playstore is much smoother on JB than on stock GB. How is smoothness on this rom?
Re: [ROM][RAY]Stock-based: GB 2.3.4 Illuminative by Vleutmans

On another note I posted it on the other thread as well

Hi,
just checked on build9, and I can confirm that scrolling webpage indeed is not really smooth, but playstore is.
On the other hand....scolling a webpage would be the "only" thing in JB that is more smooth than GB don't you think ?
Dont forget CM10 has really crappy video camera, which only can record smooth in vga 640x480...totally useless for me.
I tried almost all stock and custom roms (GB,ICS,CM7,CM10) , but always came back to this one for the sake of speed.
If somebody here has suggestions for webpage scrolling improvement, please say, and I can put it in the ROM. I think it cannot be solved with windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec in build.prop....

Well, as far as i know GB 2.3.4 supports baseband .64 max....so seen from GB it needs baseband .64
I tried baseband .85 on GB and it worked, but I sporadically got weird WIFI (limited connection) error notification on screen.
After flashing BB .64 these notifications were gone.
If you have no issues on baseband .77 for wifi/data/phone calls, then just leave it as it is

This is a ROM i've recooked based on Sony's Stock 6.1.1.B.1.100 ROM (Lee480), debranded, trying to keep all really usefull tweaks, leaving apart a lot of placebo tweaks. Surely, there is still some placebo tweaks left that i've not cleaned, but it requires a lot of time of testing. Maybe you can help to make it better.
I've mixed this ROM for my Locked Bootloader Xperia U st25a
Unlocked Bootloader people, I had a report from tarmvred, he has able to install Transcendence Kernel with this rom. Just do not install AnDyX's governors with custom kernels.

Initial Release v1 (20130617), maybe the last one
Recommendations
Battery Saving: Do not install Facebook official app. Facebook official app is a hungry battery eater, it will keep Android OS process higher on your phone. If you need it, you must disable sync facebook contacts, chat, gps ubication & notifications. Additionally you must hibernate it with greenify app. If you want low consume notificacions from facebook change your email notification address in your facebook account, and set this email account in your phone. I had a gmail account only for facebook notifications.
Dialer: yes i know, sony's dialer is a piece of crap. I really use exDialer App instead.
A-GPS: Maybe FasterFix or FasterGPS may help you. My first time GPS use after a complete fresh ROM installation with google's location service (internet online) tooks 1 minute to give me coordinate data, without this apps.

first, the rom is very good for all things, for gaming, and normal uses. the aroma installer is very good and good selectable elements. the option for shutdown the led bar is awesome, and the posibiliti for use gobernorsis very good.
in conclusion i will try a few days for try and see tthe battery life ;p , for the rest is an awesome rom, good job guy
Dude you should make a version for Unlocked bootloader too. Your rom seems really nice . I was looking for a new stock-based rom but almost all xda-developers are working on custom-based roms

The selective tweaks makes the diference, not all tweaks you find on internet works in every device and on every Android OS version in the same way. I have found a tweak in some roms just doing the oposite, yes, lagging the phone, wasting battery, i'm talking about the sdcard speed up tweak which works for a few minutes but after a while your android os goes completely laggy.
Remember AnDyX's Governors are capped to 200mhz when the screen goes off, so yes this gives you a lot battery saving while you are not using it, but sometimes this generates delay on wake ups, and a big delay when some one calls you while there was a heavy process in background. Additionaly, sometimes makes audio clips when you turn off the screen or wakes up your phone. My favorite gov is lulzactiveq with CFQ but i don't realy use it, i've just test the govs for several days. It can fit on some people use.

i don't know what it takes to make it unlocked bootloader compatible. I think just removing recovery and not installing govs should work with any kernel but i'm unable to test it

Can someone please explain the 7th step i.e. "Install this CWM Recovery (modded gov to performance)". I am not familiar with this process. I am on unlocked boot loader. Usually what I do is-
1. Root with flashtool,
2. Install CWM with Recover X,
3. Go to CWM and flash the .zip file.
Is this rom going to work this way or what? If not then please explain the 7th step please. Again, I'm on unlocked boot loader.

You need a PC to make this step works. have you opened the zip file and realize that inside there's a .bat file?
these are the steps from atis112
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948455
you just need to read "Install" & "how to use" procedures
Hi guys there is an error in the installation process for keyboard & led bar options, i have fixed it, is not a critical thing. Will be uploaded soon.

** possible hard brick **
There seems to be an issue bricking your device if not using the latest version of flashtool. Be sure to use the latest one.
To be safe, use flash tool to flash Sony FTF , then custom kernel with recover, then flash this rom.______________________________________________________________________________________________
Dogg ROM issues:
There seems to be an issue with taking screen shots. Sometimes the systemUI.apk will force close.
- No immediate solution, but sleeping your device, then unlocking it again is a temp fix
______________________________________________________________________________________________
Updating album and walkman:
- May cause force closes . Don't update to latest version
______________________________________________________________________________________________
Not booting
Be sure that if you are coming from a CM based ROM that you do a full wipe.
If the ROM still wont boot then power off your device. (may need to hold down the red reset button) then flash this kernel using 'Flashtool'

This is my first attempt at a ROM for the Xperia Z ultra. So before I release it for public use I need some testers.
Send me a PM if you are keen. Remember that if there are issues, you will need to flash another ROM to get your device working properly.

Hi @hamdogg I would like to test as well if you still need testers currently running my own stock deodexed supersu 257 rom built in "@dsixda kitchen" meaning I'm a little bit familiar with what you need tested. *note: I have no access to wifi for 24hrs or so to download anything. Good luck with this new undertaking btw
sent from my Sony Xperia Z Ultra
hey there, any chance of deodexing this? i would be happy to help if i knew how! been searching for how to do it, but haven't quite found it i don't think. closest i found is this but it might be just for 4.2.2 on the Xperia Z? thanks!

At the moment its just stock. There are plenty of tools to make a ROM deodexed, so perhaps it would be better to keep it Odexed, as some prefer that (I do) and then others can just run this script..
Once the ROM is released then all you would need to do to make the ROM deodexed is:
-Wipe the Dalvik Cache.
-Run this script in CWM.
Would take a few minutes, but would convert all the odex files to “deodex-files” in the folders /system/app and /system/framework.

I'm testing the deodex script. Come back in 5 minutes.
EDIT: Fail, TL;DR, I was looking for deodex->odex.

it looks like it just replaces the app and framework directories with deodexed files, rather than actually deodexing the directories? would this be good to do, since it's taken from another device?

The Z1 and ZU are identical units. Same internals so what ever works for the Z1 works for the ZU. The script will enable you to use themes and modify your ROM like users want to do.
On another note: ROM has been tested and works. But I need to fix up a few scripts.
