Holy s#%t I'm going to pull my hair out please help me apns not working - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently unlocked the BL on my Atrix everything worked fine at first but I noticed people weren't texting me back so I went into the app (handsent) an low and behold my texts had never been sent now I'm goin crazy cause the apns I put in aren't working either...
Anything someone can think of that would cause this? Also the flashable cwm apn list does not work.

If you have AT&T here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149523&highlight=at&t+apn
There are CWM zip files in the post as well.
EDIT: I just realized you said the cwm apn list is not working. Are you talking about the one I just linked you to?

Download this app and see which APN you are using. Also, with the app you can do a backup of your APNs and it will create a folder on your internal storage. Go to that folder and delete the file that it created then go back to the link with the APNs and download the "APNManager" zip file, unzip it, then move that xml file into the folder for the app and then go back to the app and use "Restore". See if that helps. After restoring it you might need to manually select the "AT&T US HSDPA"

Worked at restoring my apns but not at fixing the problem anything else? Should I wipe cache?
Sent from Atrix 4G running CM7 ICS Final @ 1.2Ghz

Yeah, nothing wrong with a reboot and wiping dalvik cache/cache. (Not sure how that would effect anything though)
I'm stumped, could be a rom issue. Maybe check your build.prop file to see if there are any "tweaks" related to 3G

Ight ill try that out its so crazy cause I just tried to send a mms and it worked perfectly I didn't wanna change roms this soon but do you think its worth a shot?
Sent from Atrix 4G running CM7 ICS Final @ 1.2Ghz

So are you saying it's working now? It could have been a network issue on AT&T's end. Who knows, but if it is working then maybe it will be fine. Maybe just reboot and see if the issue comes back before doing anything drastic.

No that's why its so weird cause before I unlocked my bootloader I had issues with mms but now that I've actually done it mms works perfect and SMS is shot I'm at a loss here cause by the looks of everything it should be fine and it was working yesterday so that's y I'm so lost here ill try some more cause I really didn't wanna switch roms... but if I have to wat cwm based rom would u suggest?
Sent from Atrix 4G running CM7 ICS Final @ 1.2Ghz

That sucks.
As for CM7 roms, I would have suggested Neutrino but there a few bugs being worked out as of right now from what I can see in the thread. I have been following the Weekly #5 and it seems to be running quite well. Have you looked at "SUPEROSR.Z.U.E.S"?

Neutrino issues have been worked out at this point, at least as far as I can tell... Recommend it highly if you decide to flash something else.

I recently flashed the latest AOSP MIUI rom from Comrom 2.1. I have a flashed cricket samsung fascinate and I was wondering why my 3g flickers on and off and refuses to work. If there is a fix for this, PLEASE let me know! Thank you

Data does not work on non verizon phones when flashed to a CM7 based rom. And I believe JT said he wasn't going to do anything about it. And since Cyanogenmod will take over the builds, I doubt it will happen.

Just for clarification, I have a Verizon phone activated on Page Plus and data worked fine right out of the box using custom TouchWiz ROMs. Based on your response quoted above it sounds like my data should still work since I am using a Verizon phone and their network even though I am not a Verizon customer? Or is it more complicated then that?
I've just started looking into CM7 and MIUI and found a couple of posts concerning data access but wasn't clear on my situation. Maybe Page Plus hasn't been mentioned directly or more likely my search skills suck. Either way, thanks for any help you (or anyone) can provide.
I'm have same problem. I have cricket also and can't get 3g to stay on. even when i wiped and flashed another rom it still flashes on and off. i have to do a complete factory restore to fix it.

[Q] Using the unlock, backup, lock, and restore method. Works good but no wifi

So I have tried Alien and Joker ROMs and tried using the procedure of keeping 4G by the whole backup and restore procedures. Every time with either ROM wifi is fine under unlocked, but after the lock and restore wifi just shows error on the network connections screen. But 4G is working Any ideas?
TIA.
Blond moment: would a custom kernel stick with this process?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Hmmmm. It could be because skinny rom has a 1.3 kernel and when you flash back for 4g its hittin that roadblock of the stock kernel is needed... i would say if thats not it try these options clear cache dalvak cache wipe flash skinnyv1, make sure it boots up and has wifi and relock try again.... double check on that kernel thought though and let us know

I have cleared and even formatted all partitions still the same issue. Wifi works all the way up to restoring the locked bootloader and restoring the rom. Then 4G works but no wifi.
I am downloading skinny now and will try this today and report.
Thanks.

It should as Alien rom was used in the orginal procedure to retain 4G with Alien ROM.
Ok so you got skinny1 to boot with 4G and have his 1.3 kernel working(it is included with skinny)? If thats correct could you enlighten me with the process you took. I miss 4G but I'm a battery freak and like UV and OC but sure miss 4g. Thanks

Yes, but the problem is that wifi is broke it just shows error in the settings menu.
You can use the Guide below provided be Lokifish Marz, just replace Alien ROM with Skinny or any other ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227867
I thought 4G and Wifi should work with this, but so far only 4G is working. Wifi just shows error. If you get both to work, let me know what you did. I guess if you have really good 4G every where you go you may not need wifi. I do.
One more thing, after many attempts and playing with different and order of things, I find it more stable and less buggy if you do a factory restore and format system, data, and cache just for good measure. After the like 5 attempt wierd things like the stock boot up animation being retained after flash new ROMs. wiping, and formatting before installing new ROMs fixed this problem.

Ok, Skinnyrev1 is installed. wifi works and 3G but of course no 4G cause unlocked. Going to relock with stock image install, root, and restore skinnyrev1 backup into the locked bootloader and test. I will let you know soon.
So skinnyRev1 didnt work either, after going back to stock and locking the bootloader again, then restoring the skinnyrev1 rom wifi doesnt work anymore. 4G is working with skinny rev1 but again as with the other ROMs no wifi. I will try a few other things. Anyone else got any other ideas?
TIA

Kernel is 1.3 OC part of the Skinnyrev1.
After you go through the procedure I linked earlier in the thread, your wifi my stop working just do this.
1. Put phone in airplane mode
2. Reboot
3. Turn on wifi and connect to your network
4. Download bloat freezer from the market
5. Freeze SprintOmaDm
6. Turn off airplane mode so your cell radios are turned back on
7. Test and Done

Two things I've noticed right off the bat.
1. My wifi keeps dropping every once in a while(had a similar problem with another rom using a 2.3.6 leak)
2. Home button has a little lag.
edit: Searched Android 2.3.6 wifi problems and I got a ton of results with people saying the same thing.
edit: flashing to something else for now. Sorry OP. Everything else looked pretty good too.

I'm amazed it didn't get done before. It works really fast, too. First time I ran it, I didn't think it worked, so I rebooted my phone, and realized it had in fact worked when it wouldn't boot past the Moto signal...LOL

The same using since 0.1, ICS was the reason updated my phone to the photon Optimus One was rough, that and the guy who owned it got fired from my parents company an since ending it would be just as expensive as keep it on its mine.
So instantly rooted, cwm, ICS so don't really know if its a preexisting issue or not but I've slowly gotten SOD on everything, even 2.3 roms. Why I was wondering if cwm was maybe not properly clearing data.
I have this same type of flash on all my devices. When i flash a new rom, i usually flash on all my devices at the same time. I start with my MoFo and while that is doin its thing, i would flash my other devices and go back to the MoFo in between. By the time i am done flashing my last device, i can finally flash my Mofo. Multitasking Now i gotta come up with a new process...

I'd use full wipe...never know how much he changed...
Also, watch out...apn-conf not changed, so you'll still have to edit your apns manually after if you don't replace the file...I'd still replace the file in the rom, as for some reason, the apns sometimes fall out...since that file will set it up right from start, it won't disappear

For the apns' I just set them up manually, even though replacing the file would v easier, when I do them I like to physically make the changes, little OCD tendency I guess lol. Again thanks for these.

APNs don't edit in this version...have you tried yet? It lets you select the APN, but it doesn't open the portion to edit...
Easy way to fix....replace the "APN" file I put up, and go into APNs and have it "reset to default"...the system should read that xml file and appropriately edit it...

No Voice or Data service after install of CM9

I was running Blazer Rom 1.4 and decided to check out CM9 latest nightly. I did a Nandroid, Wiped and then flashed. It seemed ok. Then I noticed I had no voice/data services at all. So I figured CM9 wasn't ready for primetime and flashed back to my nandroided backup of Blazer Rom. I still have no voice/data services. I really don't know what to do next. I have confirmed that Sprint is working in my area. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Is it finding sprint signal? You may have to call them and do a hand-free activation. I can't remember the dialpad # but what it does is reset the phone's profile data and reactivates it on your sprint number. You'll need your MSL, too.
Im seconding this and I am freaking out right now!!

You should try to ODIN back to stock.
This should also not be in DEV section, but in General. You will be blazed.
Also - I am using the CM9 and besides a FC on boot - it works great!
This happened to me before, I wasn't on CM9 but I ended up restoring the stock firmware and updated profile and PRL, then rebooted and it worked fine

Thank you for the quick replies. I am sorry about putting this in the wrong thread. I realized it after I hit submit.

It happens. Personally I would like to see device specific Q&A/General threads. Would be a lot easier I think
Hope that helps tho

Try going into the Mobile networks settings menu and just change the Network mode. Switch the setting and let it reboot, see if it helps.
I had an issue like this. If you get an error when you try to call someone let it play through and it should call sprint and they'll fix it for you. No questions asked.

Yea try using Odin and get back stock firmware, then update PRL/Profile and reboot
similar situation. phone info doesnt know MIN or number but it all works. I second the stock in ODIN, update profile/prl/activate and try flashing again

Not sure what to do next. I used ODIN to load the stock Samsung ROM (KIES_HOME_L710VPALEN_L710SPRALEN_618049_REV03_user_low_ship.tar) and I still no mobile services. Is the firmware a not included in the ROM. Is it a separate flash?
Try the below, it just reset and activated my device (again, lol). No MSL# required.
##72786#

Had the exact same situation and just threw everything in the book at it, wish I would have found this thread earlier!! The person who posted the dialer code is a da' freakin' man!
Edit: Here's my question - What caused this?!?

In my case I believe I inadvertently installed the LG2 OTA as I was getting ready to flash a new ROM. So when the new ROM loaded it was a different firmware. It was a freakin nightmare to get things back in order and yes, the ##72786# was a huge help. I had to flash all the way back to stock recovery just to set things straight. But now at least I know to make sure the basecode matches the ROM.
