This morning went into battery saver to see the estimate of battery life when I unplug and noticed that the phone stopped charging at 96%. It was charging the whole night. Unplugged. Waited. Plugged it in again but it sat there at 96% and not charging any further.
I noticed the same after updating to latest firmware yesterday (11500). Though I still get more charge than before the update. But the last 4% wont charge for some reason although the battery indicator shows as full when the phone says its fully charged.
Probably not an issue, Samsung often do it on purpose.
I don't believe it's an issue either. At least I do not worry about it. It's just a number that doesn't impact the phones functionality.
I´m spanish, just in case you want to answer to me in castellano . I also had the same issue. When i charged it the second time, it reached 100 %, but full charge capacity lowered to 1380 mAh.
In that ocassion the battery was depleted in 11 hours with a high discharging rate. Strange thing is that today when I charged it for the third time discharge rate is low again, something around 120 mAh and the battery´s life expectancy is back again to normal (27 hours or so).
Anyway, the full capacity is still around 1380 mAh. I say around because the number changes by the day.

Yes, running 11500 and only noticed it today. The other day when I actually checked battery saver in the morning it was at 100% and 1 day 3 hours remaining with 1517 mAh full capacity ... today, as I mentioned, 96% and just 23 hours remaining at 1470 mAh full capacity. It appears that there is still something screwy with the battery. The phone does last longer than before however.
Had similar issues with HTC Desire back in the days when it wouldn't charge to 100% required full discharge or battery recalibration.
Now mine charges up to 100%. It was just the first charge after update that went up to 96% only.
The maximum charge capacity fluctates from time to time. Nothing to worry about it just does that I assume.
What is det estimatet time remaining after charging 100%?

I have the same issue! I left the phone charging the whole night, the morging after the battery charge indicator was 100%, but as soon as i un-plug the usb charging cable it fall back to 97%!
I suggest you to use the nokia diagnostic app to see the charging percentage of the battery, in my case is never up 97%. I think It's a WP7 bug...
The bug isn't that big.
I've had mine stuck on 45% for a while, that was really annoying

I bought an ebay battery--2400mah.
It seems to last me several days of nominal use, which is several days more than the stock battery.
However, the battery bar(the native one) doesn't reach 100%.
Is the battery defective?
It seems to last.
Or is there some type of software error in reading the battery's lifespan?
i also bought it from ebay for my xda IIi..and same as you 2400 mah.but for me, when i charge always showed the battery if fully charge is 100 percent. or as the lamp indicator turn it to green light so i think your battery something wrong.

Mine charged completely on the first day, but now it's not fully charging, but battery life seems to be fine.
I guess I'll just use this till it dies.
maybe u can try to soft-reset, if the problem still not fixed. I think you need to contact the seller for exchange.

I'm using the "Battery Calibration" app to calibrate my GS2 battery, and I have already charged it to 100% and wiped the "batterystats.bin" file, and completely discharged it.
Now I have a question about charging it back to 100% - I'm going to be charging it while the phone is turned off, so how long should I leave it on charge before I can be absolutely sure it's at 100%? Some posts suggest 24 hours, while others say overnight or even 8 hours or so is completely fine and enough for the battery to become fully charged. Also, I don't need to "bump charge" to properly calibrate it, correct? I just let it charge to 100% now, and then I can use it as normal, right?

...yep...when you see on the display (by clicking home button) the battery icon showing inside 100% then you can unplug your phone and use it normally...battery have a limit of charge just to avoid corruption so when they are at 100% they automatically stop to receive more charge...that's why I think is useful to leave the phone in charge more than he need.

Now, it has been about 3 hours since I put my phone for charging, turned off, at a completely discharged 0% battery (I even tried download mode before I put it for charging, to make sure it was completely discharged), and now the charge meter is showing 100%...
I'm pretty sure that 3 hours is a VERY short time to charge to 100%... I haven't taken it off the charger yet, so would you recommend waiting a few more hours (maybe 5 more hours?), or is it fine to just take it off the charger right now?
I'm worried a bit now, because 3 hours seems an extremely short amount of time to charge a battery that is 'supposed' to run for 18+ hours...
Well, I just read that 3 hours is about normal, so thank you for your help!

Firstly, there isn't such a thing as battery calibration with Lithium batteries. Since there is NO MEMORY EFFECT.
Lithium batteries are not Lead Acid batteries, it does not need 8hr to 16hr trickle charge.
Charging is controlled by BMS, there is no such thing as Charging past 100%. So when it is considered 100% by the BMS (Voltage), the BMS will stop charging it.
Lithium batteries gets damaged when there is less than 10% charge, so emptying it to 0% is not a good idea. You cannot really extend Lithium batteries lifespan since it only has a 2+1/2 yr lifespan, 2000 to 5000 deep charge cycles and around 2,000,000 micro charge cycles. It is better to charge anytime you want, as long as it does not go below 10% (Most electronic equipments will state 0% at that time).
Deep Charge Cycle, when close to 0% (10% charge left in battery) you can charge 2000 times back to 100% (depending on quality of battery)
Micro Charge Cycle, when roughly above 40%, you can charge 2,000,000 times back to 100%.
Soooo..... would you like to limit battery charging cycles to 2000 or prefer that you can charge it 2,000,000 times?
Is anybody having problems fully charging the battery to100 percent? I noticed the battery life has gotten worse since I owned the phone. it would always charge 100 percent. Now it only charges to about 98 percent. I made sure all active apps are turned off and running apps as well turned off. I will turn my phone off at least once a week and fully charge it overnight. I notice after doing this the battery life Is always worse.

The phones charges to 100% and then it stops charging if left on the charger. So you will lose 2% or 3% of battery power before it start charging again. This is designed to help keep the battery healthy as its usually not a good idea to leave the phone charging for long periods of time.
I charge mine until the thing on the status bars pops up indicating "full" and then remove from charger. The "full" indicator pops up about a half hour after the phone shows 100% which I find odd however... That also might be a battery health thing as they probably don't want you to charge it to absolute max, so maybe by saying 100% whens its more like 97% that it helps with battery health...

It trickle charges for a while after hitting 100%, then shuts off giving you the "unplug me" notification, drains a few %, then back to trickle charging.
In the morning if you unplug it and then plug it back in it will be fully charged in less than 30 minutes. To the full 100%.
When I first got my phone I was playing with it so much (and testing out the true battery capacity) I was often plugging it in at night with a nearly dead battery - which takes longer to fully charge overnight. So by morning it had only stopped charging an hour or two earlier so it still showed 100% for a while. Lately its been at 60-70% so by morning it has been done for 4-5 hours. So after booting it often shows 98%. No difference in battery capacity, just a longer time post-charge where it has drained a percent or two.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess it makes sense. it just seems to run down a lot faster everytime I turn the phone off and back on the next day. It must just be me

Try the unplug-then-replug routine one morning to restart the charging process. See if it is better that day. If it is, you are probably running into the same problem I talked about in my last paragraph.

I bought this new Galaxy S3 handset from Vodafone charged it for full first time no problem just for the second time charge I left it in charge for till morning which I started charging midnight so till 8 am it charged than I unplugged it and used it fine.
Today is the third time charge now the phone charged 100% I unplugged it straight after seen fully charged on idle after 52 min and just one phone call to vodafone support on the phone for about 5 min the battery dropped to 95%.
Is this normal?
or do I have this free battery drain membership as well?

Your phone, to protect itself, charges to 100%, and then takes itself off the charger and discharges to ~95%. When hit hits the lower threshold it will put itself back on the charger until 100%. However, when it hits 100% the first time, it considers itself 100% even if it may actually be at about 95%.
How many of yall use the fast charger overnight? I do have a BlackBerry charger (850mA) which takes like 4.5hours to fully charge, so I use that to charge overnight.

I do. I have the phone for a short time (2-3 weeks) But no problems yet.
i charge in the morning for 30min -1h or in the evening to 90%+. i always charge to around 90% for batteryinfo to reset.
While the poco is charging the phone says its better to charge often short instead of overcharging the battery.
To your question, it should be alright to charge overnight. Just make sure it has good ventilation (not on your bed or under things.
If you want to preserve battery life cycle, then no. The closer to 100% you get, the worse it is for battery.
I prefer charging at night and in the morning if it's below 70%.
Otherwise, I will charge in the morning before work, and in the afternoon.
I only charge to 80% where possible
I had a bad experience with LG flex 2, I always used fast charger to charge overnight and with 2 years I got 2 dead batteries. Now I use Battery Charge Limit app and slow charger overnight. It stops charge at certain level like 75%. And that lasts for a full day for me.

I used to do this. But I've noticed that on days I don't fully charge the device, I have to plug in again mid day / evening, ending up using more than 1 battery cycle. If charged to a 100% at the end of the day it'll still have 20-30% left

This could be the result of a few factors.
Does the phone automatically cut off power when fully charged. Most new phones do cut off power or at least slow down the charge rate. If it does not, overcharging is one of the worst enemy of battery longevity/lifespan.
After power cut off, does it resume after the power gets below a certain level, or does it charge at a slower rate. Charging at a slower rate helps but it is still overcharging, so the slower the better.
As I mentioned previously, battery temperature. Fast/quick charging doesn't actually affect battery longevity/lifespan as long as the heat is controlled properly. A phone charging at 50 degrees Celsius at 5 watt (5 volt, 1 ampere) will be dead (unusable) faster than a phone charging at 35 degrees Celsius at 18 watt (9 volt, 2 ampere).

If by battery cycle, you mean how many times it is charged, then true.
In terms of battery longevity/lifespan, then it's not very good.
