[Q] Wireless problem - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi,
I have the following problem:
My wireless router is Netgear WNR2000 v.1. When configured to work up to 300 mbps (Wireless N mode) the phone connects to the router, obtains IP, DNS etc. but has no internet. When I configure the router to work up to 54 mbps (G mode) the problem is solved. I've tried all the security options - WPA2/PSK, WEP and open, same result. I still havent tried the phone with other Wireless N router. My HTC Desire works with the router on any settings. Any ideas how to make the RAZR work with the router in N mode?

Hi,
running wndr3700 on n mode with ssid hidden and wpa2.
No problems at all, connection works perfect.
Maybe router update would help?

My Razr doesn't like of Wireless B and N
In G mode the connection works fine, in N and B the connection drop at every 10 seconds.
Why Motorola does this?

I tried it on TP-Link router with DD-WRT and N standart, works fine.

Unable to connect thru WIFI

Hello Guru's,
I REcently lost my MAC address when i upgraded my OS to Windows 6.5, I used the mtty utility and got back the WIFI, however after getting back the MAC Address, i can't connect to my wireless router. Any ideas?
thanks....
LOL, I have the same problem here.
I see the router but i can't connect.
By any chance are you guys trying to connect to a Belkin N router. I connect just fine to any b/g router but for some reason I can't connect to my work's Belkin N router. Even the Pre N Belkin we had before we upgraded to the N was fine once I updated the s/w on it.

Hero's Wifi problems

Hi,
so kernel sources are released. Is there any fix for hero's wifi problems? I mean dropping connection to AP. It is so annoying, I tried to do everything: change channel, mode, encryption... Nothing helped. It is Linksys wrt160nl. The same applies to other networks (some public hot spots).
I never had this problem with my Linksys WRT54GL...

Could you paste your wifi settings? (mode, encryption mode, channel)
Using the Modaco custom ROM 2.8 (never had problems with modaco ROM and generic)
Router: Linksys WRT54GL running Tomato 1.25 firmware
Wireless Mode: Access Point
B/G Mode: Mixed
Channel: 1 - 2.412 Ghz (try a free one)
Security: WPA / WPA2 Personal
Encryption: AES
Group Key Renewal: 3600 seconds
No Mac Filter
Under Advanced Settings I changed "Transmit Power" to 251mW for a better signal, the rest are default values.
Try to update your router firmware
Are you alone with this problem?

In case you haven't done so yet. Check out the Wifi Sleep Policy (access by pressing menu when you are in wifi menu). Normally the Wifi is turned off then the screen is turned off which can cause problem.
Similar problem with netgear wnr2000

Hi got similar problem with my router netgear wnr2000.what i found funny is that when i reset the router, the phone connects perfectly to the router, but after abt 24hrs or so, it fails to connect.even if i reboot my phone, or reset the connection on phone.fails to connect.it will only connect when i reboot the router. i will try the 'aes' encryption n see if that helps.will update if it works
Thanks for your replies. Please could other members share their experiences, used options and solutions. This issue is too common to simply forget it. I am trying to find some kind of pattern or special options, it requires.
i dont have a problem with wifi apart from the wont find or connect to n-range device other wise i use wifi all the time it never drops, on stock orange uk firmware
I have a Sitecom WL-173 router.
I cannot connect at all. I can, but only with no or WEP security. That is no option for me.
When I use WPA or WPA2 my Hero does view my network, but does not connect.
I called HTC about this problem. He told me that they do not support all routers. He could not tell me which they support and which not.

I also have the same problem. The way to solve it is to change the above setting to 'G' only. Not mixed/Hybrid.

I have not had any problems trying to connect to WiFi networks, until i went over to my mates place where he has the Virgin 50MB B-Band and also a D-Link wifi-N router, and my Hero could no see the network at all, even though his iPhone connected straight away.

I'm sorry, it hurt even more when i was sitting there pissed off that my Hero wouldnt connect to the Wifi!!!
I have Virgin 50meg at home no problem at all, went to my GF's who has basic Virgin cable 10meg on netgear G and would not connect at all.
No idea why, as it should be all fine!
I have the same problem. It is so ****in annoying. My router is a Linksys WRT54G with Tomato firmware v1.25. Router is in "G only mode", WPA-2 PSK-AES security, I've set a static local IP for the phone, the phone's wireless is set to always ON... I basically tried everything I could think of. Ended up rooting the phone and installing Modaco 2.9... but didn't change anything. The only way I can get it work again when it drops is shut the Wi-Fi off then on...
Worst of all this is the problem seems widespread (but not universal)... What the **** does HTC think putting a ****in smartphone on the market with defective Wi-Fi... This is non-sense.
I really hope someone comes up with a fix or HTC updates this... otherwise we might want to start thinkin bout class action.

Is it a router setup or a Hero setting?
Pleaes explain if it's one of the options
probs here too ...
Linksys WAP54G v3.1
vs
HTC Hero
was working perfectly for first month or so, but has been getting worse and worse. ie, for a few weeks it would see the wifi but would usually fail to connect. now I'm lucky if it can see it at all!
have reflashed the wap with dd-wrt and experimented with a lot of settings. no diff.
have reflashed the hero with hero21 comunitry v1.6. no diff. (and also latest radio)
it just starts and stops when it feels like it.
oh, and my eeepc works fine on the same wifi, so I know it's not some wap screw up.
tried every tip I can find like 'use mixed mode' or 'g only', etc etc.
I am starting to think it's a hardware fault?
Same problem
Siemens Gigaset Tiscali modem with wpa psk2 tkip and T-mobile hero rom.
Sees the modem and connects with security first time but then says 'remembered out of range' on wifi settings but interestingly in wifi buddy it constantly has the syncing symbol next to the network.
Really annoying.
I've tried WEP and security off, wireless g only etc etc.
I have problems too but seems different to yours... but who knows : in fact i can't connect to wifi when the SSID is masked. Even if - or course - i put manuualy the ssid before with the good wep key. It happens on a livebox ( orange box )... but if i press the button to show the wifi network - it has to be made when you connect a device for the first time on this box - then it connects to the network... else it tells me that the network is out of range...
So does the wifi on hero has problem with masked SSID ? To compare i never had this problem - on the same box - with the touch diamond and the touch hd... and at home, not masking the ssid, the connection is ok without doing anything.
Ciao
Fred
I had the same problem with a Zyxel 660 router. I was able to connect to the wifi (WPA/PSK enable) but there was no data transfer possible.
So I updated the Radio ROM to the 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 version and it solved the problem.

[Q] Wireless N on SGS2?

Hi guys, anyone can help me out here with regards to connecting our SGS2 to Wireless N network? I have tried changing my radio frequency setting and even resorted to using WEP authentication instead of WPA, but I just can't get the phone to connect via N network, it always connects via G instead. But under the same settings, I am able to connect my acer laptop and my wife's iphone4 to the N network.
Is there any specific settings I need to configure on my router? I am using a Prolink H5004N adsl2+ modem with wireless N router. The modem is compliant to IEEE 802.11n standards, not draft-n and should work with the SGS2?

Not sure, but I think that it will connect if your N-network are in the 2.4 GHz frequency area, but not in the 5.0 GHz

Yup, tried that too, but still connects to G only. I have also tried configuring router to accept only N networks instead of G/N, but then the SGS2 will not even see the SSID when its performing a wireless scan.

Ive got the same issue. Router Asus RT-N16 (b/g/n, 2.4GHz). Playing with different router firmwares, settings and so on - no luck so far.
Check the "advanced" settings by pressing the menu button in the wireless and make sure nothing wierd is set in there.
Otherwise, as long as the router is set to N only on the 2.4ghz band, it should at _least_ see the SSID.
That modem supports WPS, try pressing the WPS button on the back of the modem and then use the "WPS button connection" option in the wi-fi settings menu on the SGS2.
Remember the single-channel 802.11n 2.4ghz such as the SGS2 supports will only max out at 72mbps anyway so there's not a huge improvement over the 54mbps that 11g will give you, although 11n is more efficient.

thx for fast reply
SGS2 can see SSID, but fails to connect until I force RT-N16 (with custom firmware, RT-N16-1.9.2.7-rtn-r3121) down to "Use 802.11 G only".
Never had any problems with other 802.11 N powered devices.
only wpa2-aes or no encryption are N-standard

wireless N only officially supports either WPA2-AES encryption or no encryption. Devices with drivers that more closely comply to the spec will not connect to WEP or WPA.
I hope you fixed the issue. I stumbled across this thread while asking the same question; maybe someone else will benefit by having this thread wrapped-up also. No haters, egos, persons, etc please. It's been necessary already to block a few of you.

[Q] Tab won't find my wi-fi

I seem to be having some problems with my tab gray 16 gb wifi version.
When i started it for the first time it could not find my wifi, i went ahead with setup and when i was finished i looked into wifi settings and it had found my router.
A few days went by and all of a sudden i was connected to the router but had no internet connection, I checked my computer which was connected by wire and it had internet connection. I then tried to switch wifi on and off on the tab and since then i cannot find my router.
I've tried rebooting both router and tab and it has not resolved the problem. Anyone else experiencing these issues? Any solutions? I thank you all in advance.
btw the router is a D-link dir-655

Unplug the router and plug it back in. I have experience this issue as well. My desktop was able to connect to the Internet. But my laptop won't connect through wireless. Not even my wireless printer. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it works fine. Sometimes, it's other way round.

I have the same router and I don't have any problems connecting. I did have many problems with my OG Droid phone connecting though, until I switched from WEP to WPA encryption.
Can you see the router on your Tab, but it just won't connect? Or is it not visible at all?
I have tried unplugging the router leaving it unplugged for 30 sexonds or so and then plugging it back in, no luck. And no I cant even see the router, I see lots of routers but not mine, I can connect to my phone using mobile access point but just not my router
Does your router use a hidden SSID?

This might sound funny, but do you have anything else connected to the WiFi? My router sometimes does this same exact thing and it happens to do with the traffic going through it. It happens alot when I'm using my laptop and my Xbox 360 and I turn off my Xbox for some reason. The way that I've always found that fixes it, is by rebooting all my connected devices along with rebooting my router. It's as if their is a conflict with the connections that make it not work.
No hidden SSID and at the moment nothing is connected to my router wireless
edit: Solution! logged in to my router switch of wi-fi, turned it back on, enabled wpa2 security and there it was right on my tab, welcome back old friend
I had the same problem, but solved it by changing locale setting on my router from Czech Republic (where I live) to USA.
figure out how many devices are connected to your router. My router can hold only five devices at a time. Also change the channel in your router settings.
good to know problem is solved

Incompatible with Asus N66U Router

I am not able to connect my Transformer Prime with my new Asus N66U router. I tried all channels and security settings and it only connected when to the router with open system setting. I am able to connect it to my old Netgear WDR3700 in good speed without any problems. Does anyone run into similar situation?
I have the rt-n66u router as well and never had a problem. Are you sure you are using the right encryption settings, Do other devices connect, have you updated the router's firmware? There was a new update just today.
http://support.asus.com/download.as...T-N66U (VER.B1)&os=&hashedid=PZkFHlMrGWzVROxT
have you ensured your router has the latest firmware?
I have the N56u model and no issues.
Yes, I have the latest firmware. My Galaxy Nexus connects just fine. The Transformers Prime actually see the router with strong signal. It just refuses to connect to it. BTW I set the router using WPA-PSK.
Is your prime running the latest update? Or, have you tried DD-WRT?
I have the latest firmware in both devices. However, my Prime is the first batch and may suffers from wifi issues. I may have to try Tomato or Dd-wrt firmware.

Some routers let you disable the broadcasting of the network name (SSID). Computers/network cards that conform correctly with the 802.11 specification will refuse to connect. Have you checked the settings for both 2.4 and 5GHz? - of course the router should not allow disabling of the SSID!
odd. Try wiping the data. Small pin hole in back of router. Reset it. Then 192.168.1.1. go in there and reenter your SSID etc on wireless.
For ****s and giggles. Pump up your 80mw Tx power of wireless to around 160mw. I been running 160mw tx power for awhile and have not and any problems. This baby can go all the way up to 500mw. Of course that is U.S. FCC range limit. With 500mw you can see your wireless from few blocks away.
If your prime is connecting to your other wireless router. Then has to do with some setting in on the RTN66U. Hopefully the wipe will clear any setting in the firmware.
Forgot to mention. Your prime will only connect to the 2.4ghz. It won't connect to the 5ghz wireless.
Did that already. My Transformer does see the 2.4 Ghz SSID with very strong signal. It just keeps reconnecting and fails to connect again eventually. My Galaxy Nexus can connect in a very good speed. Change back to my old Netgear WDR3700 and my transformer connects to it right away. It seems to me that the problem is the security encryption as connection is established right away in open system. However, it just refuse to connect on whatever setting I tried.

What are the WiFi standards on the Router set to?
Sometimes when a router is set to b/g/n (all combined) it can lead to issues.
I generally keep mine at b/g (no n) on the 2.4 Mhz band, since my n devices run on my router's 5 Ghz band anyway. Try that out.
I tried "auto", "legacy" and "n only" with or without "b and g protection" but still could not connect to the router in any combinations. Will like to know the feedback from anyone who put Tomato on N66U.
If you have kept the same SSID as your old router did you delete the old network settings for that SSID in your TP? Also try a new SSID on the router.
If the router supports WiFi Multimedia (WMM) try disabling it and re-enable it after a connection has been made.
I presume you would know if you had enabled an allowed devices table -MAC addresses. The only other thing I can think of is the size of the "hello I'm here" beacon that the router transmits is too long for the TP and I think that would only be an issue with a very long SSID
Yes, I do keep the old SSID. However, I did forget the network and reconnect to it again in Transformer. My SSID is less than 10 characters. It seems to me that the Transformer is not able to get an IP nor pass the authentication stage.

Try those settings. See what happens.
Will try it as soon as I get back home. Thanks.
I am finally able to get my Transformer connecting to my RT-N66U router by changing the SSID to a new one. The speed and range are not better to my old Netgear WDR3700 though. Thanks for all the help anyway.

Good to hear!
I've had the occasional connectivity problem with mine, on certain routers I can get connection but no online connectivity.
some routers use a nonstandard DHCP range (i think it may the ones that utilise 192.168.1.x) anyway, if you encounter this it's simple to correct once you know you simply define a manual ip on the prime for that connection and voila! :>

Cool. Glad you got it working.
Well you can always try and pump your TX power adjustment from the default 80 to 160 or more. I was able to increase my range. I think the max is like 500mw the chip is rated at. However, I havent tried that high. I don't want to burn out my chip. Plus heat increases dramatically at those higher mw's. You would have to toss a little laptop cooler underneath it. (run via the routers usb port there).
My connection problem happens again. Just in case someone has similar issue, I solve the problem by exchanging a new one from store.
