[Q] How to boot into CWMboot into CWM - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to flash a new rom, after wiping the data of my previus I noticed I haven't moved it into the external SD so I restared the mobile in order to move the .zip file.
At the point where you set a google account I tried to rush it though but at one point the phone restarted and from that moment on it always gets stuck in boot screen.I use the Omega rom.
How can I boot into CMW with "hotkeys" at the beggining of booting (Samsung logo)?
Things I tried:
Removing the batery for 1 min and restarting,
Almost all possible key combinations at the boot screen (Samsung boot) not the rom boot

CWM recovery
Hold down
Vol Up Button + Home Button + Power Button at first splash screen release buttons .

Normal 3-Button Combo should work. Maybe you have to be fast after insert the battery again.
If you can't go there, try to get into download mode a start a fresh install with odin or heimdall.

What is easier to use odin or heimdall?

ideally flash with odin to the T if your going to upgrade the rom to whatever you choose, it will do a full wipe for you bit of a pain losing your data but its really the only way of getting back up to scratch put it into download mode vol down - menu button + power button then an option will show press vol up and go from there be warned you must follow the odin instructions perfectly

[Q] Interesting Problem rooting device

I installed this kernel from Chainfire's thread: CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEU_KH4-v4.1-CWM4.tar
However, my phone says that I have the KH7 kernel, but I figured this one ( KH4 ) would be close enough. It flashed fine, and I have root access and all, but my back button no longer works at all (not even haptic), and my Home button is acting like a back button - meaning I essentially have lost my Home button...
But now that my device is rooted, when I boot into debug mode, I get the CWM menu, meaning I can no longer use Odin correct? But because my home button is gone, I cannot select "install zip from sd card"
My question is this: Without the use of the Home button on my device, is there anyway to flash a new kernel?
Thanks to anyone who can answer this.
You just flashed cf root for the INTERNATIONAL SGS2 and NOT FOR THE ATT SGS2. That is why you lost some buttons. Make sure to use ATT SGS2 ROMS/KERNELS. There is a post about how to fix your issue in the att section to get you back to the att version of the SGS2.
Brought to you by my KICKASS CM7 AT&T SGS2
I realize I flashed the wrong version, but my question is how do I flash a different version without the use of my Home key? That is the issue.

You boot into Download mode and flash the right one in Odin. How hard is that.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
Can I still use Odin even if I have already rooted the device? Do I just hold up vol + down vol + power to boot into download mode? I thought that was called debug mode...
From the FAQ:
How do I put my phone into Download mode so I can flash w/ Odin?
Take out the battery from the back to ensure your phone is completely off, then put the battery back in. Now hold down on both the Up and Down Volume buttons and plug the USB coming from your PC into your SGS2. Once you see a warning screen let go of the volume buttons. Hit the Up Volume button to continue into download mode.
I found that you can just click the volume down + power button to get into download mode.
I think everyone is missing the point of my question. Can I flash my phone with Odin EVEN IF I ALREADY HAVE CWR INSTALLED? I cannot use CWR to flash as I lost the use of my Home button (cannot select from the menu)
I resolved my own issue. There is a difference between RECOVERY mode and DOWNLOAD mode. To boot into recovery you hold vol up + vol down + power, to boot into download mode you JUST hold vol up + vol down, then plug into USB. I did not realize there were two different modes, sorry for wasting time and causing confusion.
Yup, you can always boot into download mode as long as you didn't flash a bootloader.
Another way of saying it is:
If the screen turns on at all, you can recover by flashing something correct in download mode.

My Sammy GS2 Wont flash roms anymore :(

All of a sudden,
My Galaxy s2 got f*cked up some sort of way,
when i am on stock fw, and flashing codework's CWM 5.0.2.3 through odin -> PDA the phone wont boot normally, stuck at triangle, it wont even boot to CWM but instead it goes into bootloops again until the traingle screen...
so i flashed cf-root kk2 all is fine and it boots normally + to cwm if i press the combo.....BUT!
when i want to flash a custom rom (CM,Miui, other roms)
it installs just fine, but when i reboot, again stuck @ traingle screen and no way to get back into recovery!
download mode works fine, i can only flash official/leaked samsung roms......
i searched the forum, couldnt find any help, and help is what i need now, serious help!
exactly the same problem.
press
vol+ key, home key and power button together to go to recovery mode??
1. Are you wiping data/cache etc when flashing new ROM to prevent bootloops?
2. If you get stuck at the triangle, have you tried pulling the battery (or hold power button until phone switches off) then use Vol UP - Power - Home, key combo to get into recovery?

[q] i need help please! :)

Okay so I had CM7 on my Samsung Vibrant and I wasn't satisfied because it had trouble with the GPS so I decided to go back to stock rom so I could then use a different Rom.. I flashed back with Odin ..
I'm now trying to get into clockwork recovery but whenever I'm in Rom Manager it doesn't reboot to it, the screen just freezes for a second and then doesn't do anything, just stays on the same screen.
I can't get into the DOWNLOAD mode as I've tried all the different combinations of Volume Up, Volume Down and Power button..
I really don't want to be stuck on 2.1 and feel like such a noob haha
Oh and the first screen when booting up my phone says I-9000 which I know isn't stock...soo maybe I downloaded the wrong stock in the first place? :/
That means you are on GB bootlooders. To get in to recovery, it's volume down + power button; download mode is volume up + power button. That or vice-versa, I never remember. But there is no Clockwork for 2.1.
I highly recommend this, has everything you need in one place.

Volume up + Volume down then plug in the USB. That's how you go to download mode.
No I've tried that..
1: Take battery out of phone.
2: Put battery back in phone.
3: Press and hold VolumeUp+Power Button at the same time. (hold until it goes into DL mode)
4: Connect to computer and Odin to JFD Stock image.

My phone has been bricked

Please help. My s3 can only boot into twrp logo and stays there while flickering every few seconds. I have tried the volume up, power button and home button thing and still it does nothing but reboot to the same place. In short, I cannot enter recovery mode to re-flash my phone.
What about download mode? Volume down Power and Home button?

What about entering download mode ? As it was stated above ? Then you can download last stock firmware for your region and flash it via Odin. Good source of original firmware is //samsung-updates.com/. Odin is available at many sites. If you run Win7 (or higher) on your PC you do not need any additional software, if not - proper drivers to see your mobile will be required. Then, if you do not want to stay with stock ROM, you can flash custom recovery and finally custom ROM chosen from dozens of them...

Phone only boots to recovery mode, power button only doesnt work in recovery mode

Recently did factory reset for my i9100, downloaded reboot manager and rebooted into recovery from that app.
Now I can't get out of recovery mode since power button doesnt work in there and my middle button is broken too.
VolUp and VolDwn work everywhere and I can turn phone on by power button.
Any help? I'm on 2.2.3
edit/ i also rooted the phone recently with kingroot via pc
Hi @noupls,
To get out of recovery mode, you need to take out your phone battery.
Once your phone is off, reinsert the battery. Then go into download mode (press and hold volume down + power button + home).
Once in download mode, flash stock ROM via ODIN (if you've already download the firmware files).
Saber.
With broken buttons, you're pretty much stuffed whatever you do with the device. You NEED to get them repaired/replaced ASAP.
In recovery, there should be an option
REBOOT SYSTEM (NOW)
With your broken buttons I'm pretty sure that'll be the only thing that works.
