Best Launcher? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

What is your favorite launcher?

Stock. until nova has better tablet support.

on my tablet i only use trebuchet, on my phone i only use nova, vise versa i hate them(nova on tablet, trebuchet on phone)

Is there a setting for trebuchet?

I'm using Nova on phone and tablet and like it on both.

I'm using SPB SHELL 3D mainly because it has some pretty cool widgets

Nova
I am using Nova on both TFP and my galaxy nexus. It is really sweet.
Nova works great on tablets as well so you don't really have to wait for tablet support. You just have to make sure you set desktop grid to 7 rows by 8 columns which exactly what the stock launcher is set too.

Where are you guys getting Nova? I've never heard of it

I'd never heard of it either, but it looks decent.
I used to use Launcher pro on my TF101.. and was planning to on the prime, however i might give Nova a go.

Nova's great but unfortunately there's no dock for ICS on the Prime. ADW has a very nice customizable dock but scrollable widgets don't work, which is a deal breaker for me. So right now I'm using Nova in the hopes that one of them improves

SPB Shell 3D is pretty cool to start with, the widgets are just gravy. And it's a live app, development is ongoing. I submitted a question about their weather widget and they got back to me in under 24 hours.
It is a bit pricey at $15, but IMO it is totally worth it.

Interesting to see something like that. But doesn't go well with my minimalistic taste.
I just use the stock launcher of ICS with a couple of widgets and a couple of folders.

Nova's. Dock is only for phones. They said it in the thread here on xda.

Stock launcher is really good but I just got SPB Mobile Shell 3D. Man, that launcher blows everything else away. Plus its really smooth n fluid also. Customization is big in it. Seems like I can add unlimited homescreens. Then the 3D effects are top notch. Its just a mofo setting it up cuz I had so much set up on stock launcher. Really impressed w/it. Makes your tablet stand out from the crowd. You can even make it 3d if you have the glasses.

I use Go Launcher EX on my phone and my Prime.

Did they ever add the ability to hide apps in the app drawer?

I love Go Launcher EX but when I loaded it on my Prime, the dock wouldn't work and the app drawer kept freezing and I was constantly getting the application not responding.
Have you had any of those issues?

I use ADW on my Prime and Go on my phone.

I like GO now that they have made it Tablet friendly, albeit somewat cutesy, but haven't enabled it yet until I am comfortable with the Prime. Going to look into Nova.

Using stock and liking it just fine, thank you very much.

I have to say my personal favorite is Apex. It gives all of the features needed, in a nice clean package!
I personally tried Go Launcher, but found it to be too obtrusive and it lacked the polish that I was wanting.
I will include a link that needs to be fixed for the time being, as I still am a "new" user :/

I'm not sure what recommendations you're looking for, as you've tried 10+ launchers, including all of the popular ones. IMO, Apex and Nova work best with the TFP. They also have been built from the stock ICS launcher with added functionality. Personally, I use Apex and love it. I use a custom grid size that works well in landscape, as well as portrait without cutting off any of my apps or widgets. I'd say give one of those two launchers another shot.

From what I've read about it it isn't a launcher. Instead it will be built into phones/tablets kind of like sense on htc stuff. Hopefully someone finds a way to turn it into a launcher or modifies it to run on the prime, but it may be awhile before any of that happens.

The best GO Launcher HD
Apex is the best launcher i've got on my Prime. To phone I recomend GO Launcher Ex
Using SPB shell 3d. Awesome.
My prime in not near by. I will post screen shots when it is.
Used SPB shell 3d on my phone and was shocked when it looked better on my tablet.
Stack and scrollable widgets strangely work on the tablet and not on the phone!!!!
my favourite
my favourite launcher is the touchwiz ux launcher from the galaxy tab 10.1 although you got to have root to use it with widgets its realy nice and almost no lag

So far I like Sense 4, but I dislike the launcher...

The launcher seems limited, and even worse, has some pretty big performance issues. It seems fast *for the most part*, but relatively frequently, when I go to close or launch an app there is a pause or delay. Anyone else experience this?
So who else has ditched the Sense 4 launcher for Nova or something else?
I, personally, like some of the widgets offered through Sense, however I do not like the limitations. The things that pushed me to switch primarily are 4x5 rows/columns for icons and such along with a superior dock setup. Stock sense with an app drawer and 4 options is just too limited. I made the jump for Nova launcher when my OG Evo was running ICS and purchased the paid app and have not regretted it once. 3 sets of dock bars, refined folders nestled within them, along with my 4x5 screens. I miss a very few of the sense widgets, but most of them I have replaced with Android Pro Widgets (free version is enough for me on this one).
Just my overall 2 cents. Plus some of the stutters with sense seem to be absent on Nova
Other than the inexplicable restarts after some applications, I think it's being locked into the 4x4 grid that will be the end of the Sense 4 launcher for me. If it was just 4x5 I could look past a lot more of the other things.
I've been using Nova. It's like butter.
Thanks for the feedback, guys. Been using Nova and I love it too. Shame I can't use some of the Sense widgets though. I was really starting to like the calendar and the people widget. Not worth the hassle of using the launcher, though.

I am not sure of the calendar, but the people widget in Android Pro Widgets i *think* is very very similar to the sense ones. Check it out, may be worth your time!
If Sense 4.0 had landscape mode for the home screen, it would be PERFECT. I am addicted to the calendar widget which is what is keeping me stuck on Sense. I tried NOVA and think it is the best launcher I have tried. Nova is super fast and has landscape mode. If it could use Sense widgets it would be a no brainer to switch.
Do any of you know if ANY launcher out there supports sense widgets?

I like sense 4 too, along with some of the widgets, but I leave my phone on the kickstand all day at work so having a landscape desktop is more important to me.
I tried both Apex and Nova. I'm currently using Nova (free version so far) and it's working great for me. I like that you can customize the rows/columns in both of those launchers.

What's your favorite launcher, and why?

Title says it all. I've been cycling between sense, apex, go, and nova, but can't decide which one to stick with. I'm leaning towards nova. What do you guys think about your launchers?

I'm pretty impressed with Sense 4.0. My OG Evo was senseless 100% of the time, but I don't feel bogged down by it this time around.
I still have Apex installed and use it too... But find that I don't mind using sense.
Honestly, if someone modified sense to
A) accept gestures and b) added one more row to the home screen
I don't think I would really leave it.
The "frequent" tab in the app drawer and native folder support makes all the difference.

Yup. Same here. I suppose mist of the things I like about it could probably be found in other launchers. Familiarity, I suppose. I like the adjustable transparency in app drawer, and resize all Widgets, and changing desktop grid (which i know is available in other launchers, well,...except sense)

Nova. I'd go Sense if they would add 1 more row to the screens and give me a larger / scrolling dock
I used to be a huge fan of LauncherPro until the developer dedicated all his time and effort to a music app and abandoned the launcher replacement that everyone loved. I just stick with Sense because I know I won't have to worry about any issues.
I like apex, up to seven customizable icons in the dock and landscape homescreen.
Sent from my EVO LTE
Oh, I almost forgot. Nova allows for vertical scroll in app drawer, which I love. I don't like having my desktop and drawer scroll the same way. Confused my muscle memory. Or I'm just that thick lol.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I like both Apex and Nova. Just wish one of them would add the ability to customize the app drawer grids (5x6, 6x6, etc.) and icon resizing.
I am using stock sense for now but have used Apex mostly on my tablet. I will probably use Apex once I get bored of stock or if I try out CM9 at some point.
I am not a huge fan of the rotating screen transition HTC uses so I may change a little early just to get the normal slide transition back.
I might also try Nova or whatever launcher allows the vertical scrolling app drawer. I'm not a fan of the paginated style. I feel like it was done to hide lack of smoothness of the phones in the past.
i am using apex and cant use anything else. now that themes are there too. there is a free black theme that gets rid of most of the blue. very nice
i use adwpro

I don't know a way to make Sense rotate and since the charger/usb for these phones is on the side, a dock with Sense seems useless. I use APEX usually.
sense on all HTC phones is my pick because it ties in with everything else so much. if it was a nexus or aosp i would use apex

What is the best home launcher?

Hello mates,
So just as the title states what is the best home launcher to you guys? Still tryna find the perfect setup. I've tried:
Nova
Espier Launcher
Vire Launcher
Launcher 7
Stock Touchwiz
Buzz
I cannot find one I like most.
Any ideas ?

My favorites are TSF shell and Next, of course their $17 each though.

My two faves are Next3D and Nova. I bought Next3D when they had a 50% off sale about 8 months ago, but I've been using Nova more and more because...it just works great. No redraws, small memory foot print. I made the mistake and bought SPB Shell 3D back in June '12, and it's pretty much abandonware ($15 bucks). Yes, I could get the Yandex Shell for free which is a direct clone of it, but it has too many limitation, it's a memory and battery hog and redraws way too often.

well tsf shell is what I would consider the most "different" but definitely not everyone's cup of tea.
since its expensive, next is not bloated like GO thank god (HATE go lol) but it does take some tweaking to make it look nice (I like a clean holo-ish theme), fortunately because it is from the go dev team, it has a lot of theming support.
I would describe it as having all the customibility features apex or nova have but with the coolest animations and widgets I've personally seen.
best thing I can tell you is to go on YouTube and look at launcher reviews before you go spending money on anything.

Honestly Go Launcher isn't that great when compared to TSF Shell
go launcher seemed really laggy for me when i tried it. hd was fine though.i usually stick to nova, but tsf is a nice change every so often. chameleon works well on the tab too
Go launcher stil use cpu not gpu for ui. That's mean will very lag on high resolution. Not recommend use for tablet. TFS shell or nextlauncher good for tablet
I use Go Launcher 5 too, but it's a real pain to add widgets/shortcuts to screens because it will only add in portrait mode. I'd switch, but I love the transparent notification bar option.
Anyone know of any other tablet-oriented launchers with a transparent bar option?

Attached are the images of my setup with Next 3D. The home screen, my book/media screen, the folder/drawer view of the media icon, and the app drawer from the all apps page. The status bar has option to be transparent or solid blank...there are a lot of bells and whistles to customize to your hearts content. You can apply other icon themes...Apex, Nova, Go...name it. Hope this helps.
