[Q] Best baseband to use for galaxy ace??? - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

which is the best baseband to use for galaxy ace
2.3.4 5 or 6????
are they gaming or battery oriented in any way????? if so plz clarify.....
does the upgradation in basebands increase or decrease battery backup.......gaming performance???
last one which is better 2.3.4/ 2.3.5/ 2.3.6?????

My honest opinion on this is I have never been able to tell a difference in performance or battery life. Battery is poor on the Ace with 3G on irrespective of baseband. I am using XWKT3 which is now different for me when I was using XWKP6. I am using 2.3.6 simply because the text is much bolder and a few icon visual improvement.

I am using xwks2 for 8 months

2.3.6. It's the newest one and bound to be better.

Recommendation....
If u want both battery and performance.......thn my suggention 2 u will be 2 use a custom rom.......gingercruzt v2.2 with cyanogen mod 7.2
Its the best......it has android 2.3.7.
with full use my battery works for the whole day without any issues......

Battery on custom ROM's is very poor. If you want speed with good battery life, I recommend you to use any Stock ROM which is running on android 2.3.5 or 2.3.6
I have tried XWKS2 baseband and its pretty good.

wHICH BASEBAND ARE U USING AND INFINITY ROM 7.1 OR 7.2 BUT FRAMEWORK MOD IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH INFINITY I THINK SO BECAUSE IF U FLASH INFINITY ROM FRESH AND CHECK OUT WITH AUDIO MANAGER IT ITSELF HAS 30 STEPS OF VOLUME AND I THINK SO INFINITY USING ODEX SERIES AND FRAMEWORK IS ALSO ODEX BUT INCOMPATIBLE WITH INFINITY

For framkworkmod you have to delete a file in system... Only one file not three then it works smoothly
I don't remember the file location and name but you can find it in the comments section of the forum framkworkmod smooth scroll and precise volume control
Search for it... It's worth it

well i'm using this S5830JPKS2 and everytime i install costum rom it lags a lot idk is it from the baseband or what :s i'm really confused i do care about the performance of the ace but i'm really confused what do you suggest for me to use ?

I guess you should try S5830DDKQ8.
Have tried almost 10-12 custom Rom on this Baseband and never showed problem plus wi-fi drivers of this ROM are considered the best by many ppl incl me.

If you want a great-GPS-performance stock ROM, you should try XXKPP. It is the fastest in locking GPS in my experience.
About battery life and performance, I would say, stock ROMs' is all the same: average. Unless you change the kernel to Battery Extender and/or lower the min/max CPU clock.frequency.

Nice,, since i am the first one i would like to point out three things.
first this is noot a themed rom like the other. It includes the xperia framework and many xperia apps , libs and others.
Secondly, the Flash player is already included, no need to install another one.
Finally the Fserves kernel is already included in the latest release v1.4.
Thank you for your work.
Regards
Thanks for pointing out my mistakes..,
Now, could u tell which among fserves kernel you have included?so that I can include it in faq cos many people wonder which kernel it is since it shows blank in about phone .and I misunderstood you bcos u had given credit to Franco for kernel!have edited my first post!
Edit:having a strange bug, whenever I plugin my charger n use the phone, touch lags n keyboard types letters on its own..using Franco.gbs.v18c
Edit 2:works fine now after just unplugging the charger n repluggging it

Ok, I had some impromptu questions.
At first look the ROM looks great. I'm not concerned about the battery life, just the performance. Could anyone post their neocore fps and advanced quadrant scores? [just as a reference]
Also, does this ROM/kernel combo solve the CPU drain problem caused due to our touchscreen? Basically can one play HD Games on it sans any lag?
And, for which kernels is this ROM intergrated?
Thanks.
Its based on. 32 kernel ..neocore as per a user's report in dev forum is 62fps(with sound) and quadrant advanced is sumwhere around 15xx..
I do not know about the CPU drain but battery is good and touch responsiveness is really good..its really fast..
I played nfs shift without anylag

NFS Shift does not require touching the screen.
I wanted to know whether CPU intensive games such PES, Assassin's Creed, Gangstar. etc.. Work without any lag, as they require lots of touching. [Sounds sleazy eh?]

You should combine "gingercrust v1.4" with "franco.Kernel.v19.4 + GBS.v19 (BFS)" to get the best performance.

[Q] Galaxy ace lagging

Hi guys. This is my first time posting to xda developers
I have a galaxy ace. I updated it to 2.3.5 android version. At the beginning it was fine but the next day i realized that it was lagging a lot. I downloaded many different versions but they all lag. My stock version when i bought it was fine. No lags. But i dont remember what version it was.
Please can you help me find a good version for my galaxy with no lags?
I had no problems with mine. Maybe you downloaded an app that makes your phone laggy or something like that. Can't help you

hey guys does it matter when did you buy your galaxy ace to install the correct version? Or it doesnt matter.
In other words does it matter if your galaxy ace is old or new?
nopes, not for installing roms...
but if you wanna find out what you had originally, it might be helpful. if its pretty old you may be talking about a version of froyo - android 2.2 that you found snappier.

Try flash with your latest region baseband.. Then flash stable rom and observe, test all apps you always used specially in your daily usage apps. If you got laggy again then try cm7. some devs of cm7 says it was not for daily rom.. But for me i used it as my daily even in my business. Also newbie guide by emoboiix3 is very helpful.

[Q] Gingercruzt or Icecream Sunday 2?

hey guys i can't decide between those 2 roms, which one is : faster, stable & has less battery drain?
Depends what you want. The fastest is always going to be icsunday, but there both very fast roms. The trade of is icsunday is barebones, so no extras. That's what makes it so fast. On the flip side gingercruzt is also fast, farster than pretty much any other rom in the forum, except icsunday. But also its got extras, the bravia engine, sony styled apps, timescape and much more. Of course to throw in a third choice if your not a sony fan try my new rom speed blur, its icsunday based. Its in the same post as icsunday. And lastly there is also myth ics if you want stock, I've heard its very fast too. Of course you could flash them all and see witch you like.

hey jusada if i want statusbar like miui in stock rom or in themyth ics rom what i need to do,the one which you have in My-ui2...should i give you systemui.apk and framework-res.apk from stockrom, can you please make one flashable file???
Its not just gingercruzt gives better looks..ICS2 just lacks live wallpapers & ofcourse thats what gives you the speed..If you can search around for some good launchers like adw ex I hope you wont find much of a difference unless you are a die hard sony fan..
N yes gingercruzt couldnt handle many running apps coz it has many of its on running in the background so ICS 2 wins there...
is the sim toolkit can be used at 2 rom this, especially for m-banking ?

Ask in ics2 thread..
Anway,Toxina..I suggest ics2..I havent used it though, but its a favourite rom for many guyz.To tell the truth,i didnt get the time to flash it.I used Gingercruzt but i switched it between the time period of 2 to 3 days, main thing was battery(bit too weak,if you ask me),then it was all the sony apps and icons.I never felt that they were made for the screen size of ace

Ok, I need suggestions for rom,

Hi all! I really need a rom with fully-working camera, + fast, stable, bug-free, for adolescent daughter, so I ask your suggestions and your knowledge of this phone.
My own phone is Optimus p500, got it modded to my liking, etc. I got the Ace for the ado daugther in the house 2 days ago. She is a facebook, pictures and sms addict. No overclocking or games for her is needed. She needs a simple, stable, bug-free and fast rom. It needs to not bug or FC so she can impress her friends.. Today I have read through many pages and threads of roms, and I had a quick look at what is available. Ics sunday and cm7.2 rc0 by lates would seems among the most promising available.
A working camera is definitely a must for her. If needed I could always get lg camera and try it, as suggested in some roms to see if I can get no dark videos and LED working. [ I'm wondering if camera gives trouble, nobody tried to get stock samsung camera ported? ] Is there a fail-proof, noob-proof 3rd party camera, or is it the LG one, or is there any rom fail-proof and noob-proof, stable, fast and bug-free? [ I realize nothing is noob-proof, but she need stable, fast, bug-free, a good camera with LED flash working, and facebook. ] If there is no bug-free camera rom I know she'd prefer the laggy stock rom because a working camera is essential for her. I'd hate it for her to be " stuck with stock " though.
Also, is there any roms, options or ways to get 3rd party apps to login using facebook credentials ? Most weird issue. Might be a deal-breaker on any rom for noob adolescent daughter..
Any suggestions? I believe you all know this phone way better than me. I could guide you for my own but I'll appreciate the tour guides for the Ace
Sent from my LG-P500 using Much Love
Stock ROM?
I
Srsly, the most [relatively] bug-free, stable ROM for the Ace would definitely be Samsung's own.
CM7 for Ace has some minor glitches and bugs ere and there, although its reportedly faster. But since your daughter is not too technical (based on my speculation of your description), having too many or too little options isn't a concern of hers.
You can try a custom stock ROM, of course. It (should have) the same stability, but smoother. The most well recieved custom stock ROM here might be fla.sh's X2, codeROM, and TheMyth ICS. But the first two are dead projects with no active developers.
This post was sent from hell.
Gingerreal is the only option plus facebook issue was there own issue. Its not related with roms. Its fixed with newest version. Everything is working perfect on gingerreal. So you can go with that.

Used theMyth KS3 and now ICS beta2, it works awesome, based on stock Rom with useful scripts to manage RAM better
Added: transparent touchwiz, BLN control,.... everything's ok, no OC, no bugs, no FC and of course camera works well
