Well after waiting what seems like forever for ICS I just finally bit the bullet and bought a Galaxy Nexus. I can say without a doubt that I will NEVER buy a branded phone again.
Its so awesome having a factory unlocked device that comes with ALL original accessories and NO bloatware crap, in the intended packaging. Jeez. I was really disappointed with what ATT did to the sgs2. Also I hate how the resale of US phones are CRAP. I was having a great time taking care of and flipping my iPhones every year. Boy was I surprised when I came to Android. With an international, hard to come by phone like the Nexus, resale will stay high until I want to upgrade to something better.
I am totally happy with my purchase so far. The phone really is great and the build quality and design is superior to the sgs2. The screen is really excellent despite all the negativity I read about the pentile display. Yes ICS is the majority of the reason the phone is so great, but I would still chose it over the sgs2.
Good luck to you guys, hopefully an official ICS leak comes out soon because you really are missing out on a lot.

This came out sounding like a brag thread when in reality I am just suggesting that you guys consider importing international phones. They are the real deal and updates come 6 months before US, fake, counterparts.

But do you see how this works?
When sgs3 gets announced I will sell my Nexus here in the US for top dollar and import the sgs3 and have it 6 months before anyone in the US. It will also be factory unlocked and hold a way higher value than the US versions AND ill get Google updates 6 months sooner.

Having access to both (my gf has the nexus) when we are out she is always asking to use mine because it takes far better pictures of our kids, etc...I might have considered the GSM nexus but the camera alone is a deal breaker for me.

Because it will be 150 more and they have to order from over seas and deal with all that. A lot of people are impatient and want something they can get locally.
A lot of people won't know what the hell a sgs3 is when it drops and still think the Nexus is god when I go to sell it....

I don't know about you folks, but when I get a shiny new device in HAVE to play with it!
So he brags about how "cool" this phone is, but he's not using it.
Just what I noticed. I'm thankful for my S2 and I love it. I'll buy an S3 a short while after their price goes down. The Gnex is dropping in value, just like all phones. I've sold each one of my devices for nearly what I pay for them.

I went into at&t today planning to purchase the S2 but the guy in front of me bought the last one so i went with the skyrocket in white. I love the screen size and the color and visual voicemail (i hate Google voice sorry) and im not really noticing any lag etc and the data is definitely faster than my iphone 4s. My area is nowhere near getting lte so thats not a concern.. I want ics as quickly as possible so my question is will the skyrocket or sgs2 more likely get ics first and is there anything im really missing with the skyrocket vs the sgs2? Thanks in advance guys.

the gs2(att) will get it first because its close to the original GS2, skyrocket doesnt really have a widely avaliable model out.
The gs2 will more than likely have it before the skyrocket due to the ability to port from the Int'l GS2 and support from CM....and the only thing your missing between the skyrocket and gs2 is the skyrocket sucks
There are already several people that have ICS running (partially) on the i777. It will be a long time before the skyrocket see that.
But, at least you have 30 days to let them get one in stock.

I had the skyrocket and let me tell you, in about a week you'll regret that swap. I had the skyrocket and totally hated it. They throttle lte, the resolution is a joke, the battery(don't get me started). Anyway sgs2 will get ics first IMO. I have the sgs2 now and I'm good for a while.

Skyrocket and out GS2 have the same resolution. The ppi though is in our favor.

on the vivid its stock....stupid bootloader.. i have a rom ready for it as soon as its unlockable
the incredible s is running beta ICS build, i have been trying to dig into the camera issues, but its a loss it looks like
the i727 '****rocket' as its so lovingly referred to around here, is getting some treatment from me with a rom.
i left the iphone4 and the ipad1 out of the pic, because well, theyre apple products..
i also have a captivate and a mytouch4g sitting in my drawer
and of course the touchpad, and galaxy tab.....

That was a couple months ago but nothing since then. It's assumed that's the international version.
Although, the Galaxy Note just passed the FCC with AT&T bands... That's really tempting but that thing is just huge. Next phone for me is SGSIII.

i have seen some lame arguments 'against' it that dont mean anything. since i have both of them and use them side by side, i can honestly say that the only differences are with the thickness of the device. running touchwiz rom on both at the same time (obviously, not stock) feels the same. they both react the same as an OS, they both have the same OS features. One has LTE and the other is faster in benchmarks.....woohoo, i can run friggin benchmarks all day long and it doesnt mean anything. LTE allows me to view the web faster, OGGS2 allows me the freedom of tons of mods/development already done for the device.
at the end of the day, they are both good devices and haters gotta stop hatin so hard. save your hatred for Apple fanbois...lol

I have to agree Craigslist has gotten worse over time. I use to be able to sale something and get most of what I spent on it, but now I only get about a fraction. But, I don't entirely blame Craigslist for this, I have come to realize android phones really do not retain there value well because the sheer number of them in the market. I know bringing up Apple may get me flamed but Igadgets do fare a lot better on Craigslist even after the next iteration is released. And yes I own a Note and an IPad 3/hd/New.. Are what ever their calling it now....hahaha

Cause TW is garbage. Plus Sammy = slower than balls w/ updates. To me the S4/Adreno 225 isn't that huge of a boost to warrant being stuck on a carrier controlled device. Yeah they say it does better in benches but I could care less. Tried my friends AT&t OneX and it was laggy to the max.
Really hate to see you leave, as i currently use your ROM, and its amazing. I have had this phone for only 3months, and was looking like there was hope for good developers on it, and now everyone's bailing out for the S3/Nexus. :-( guess I need to buckle down and learn to create ROMs myself.

Not gonna lie, moving to the Nexus was worth it on so many levels, really reminded me of how badly skinned Android sucks. Stock GNex blew away any custom ROM here, no offense devs.

Whats good enough for you is not for me. My brother has a nexus since day 1, the camera is essentially unusable, especially under low light conditions. Its not even considerable for taking any kind of pictures worth saving. The rezound camera is top tier in comparison. And i snap a ton of pics. If this werent the case, im sure i'd be very pleased with the nexus, but the camera is a deal breaker.

Don't think they're implying there's anything wrong with the phone. But everyone knows there's something wrong w/ the Rezound's community/forums. That + dying development is imo pretty legit reasons for wanting to change phones. Hard to pass up the Jelly Bean!.

There is something wrong with the rezound, the community for it is dead and it doesnt look good at all for the future of the phone. Most people who are on XDA want to own a phone with a strong community, Rezound is furthest from it. I am waiting for the Note 2 and im done with the rezound at that point.

The insurance company is offering me a galaxy s 3 as a replacement for my damage note.... Would you take it?
They didn't have anymore note so I said no because I had a bigger screen and stylus... Now they going to check somewhere else and call me back. Am afraid they will come back with a refurbished note.

Hell no, if they don't have a note demand a note 2. tell them you demand equal or better and will not settle for less, and make your key arguments s-pen support and screen size , of they say no remind them AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!!!

I definitely would I have an s3 and a note and I prefer the s3 easily.

I would trade both for a note 2 however

Refurbished isn't rebuilt. I've had refurbs that were brand new other than the box being opened on numerous occasions. Refurbished just means its tested and inspected as a 100% working device.

I know the S3 is technically a better phone, but I actually use the S-Pen. I also read a lot of comics on my Note, so even half an inch more screen is awesome.

My girlfriend has the S3 and I have the note. I like the S3 and it's pretty zippy stock but I don't think I could part with my note's screen size and with the devs here, my phone is operates just as fast as hers. Also:

just have to say Ensquared warranty is a real good value.....very pleased with the communication...... they even email a paid ups label to send back the broken phone.

I read on reddit this guy who works for a phone company describing the process of refurbished phones. In actuality they are heavily tested to work 100% like new with new parts and most of the time it's a cracked screen. They work more properly than a brand new phone because a new phone isn't tested by an individual. Additionally, you will run into less problems. In all respects though, as good as our developers are- the gs3 is a sexy piece of hardware I'd take it in a heartbeat. Plus the cases.... Ohhhh the cases...

Beans has said that mobile developement is dying due to companys trying much harder to block us out. Why do it android was built on this platform. I personally own an android for the reason to make it what I want ( with help from everybody here) so why are they locking us out? I understand the company does what verizon says but why not leave holes for us? It used to be that way now its like the company wants us out as much as the carrier!

Yes with every update, new work arounds needs to be made.
And one would be very ignorant to think this is like the First time this happened with a brand new device.
It hasn't even been out a month and you're saying it is safe to say development is Dead?
There will be a work around released eventually.
It may come out by this weekend, it may come out by winter holidays or it maybe it will be worked out by spring.
For all we know, we could just end up in the same boat as the s4.
However, i strongly advise you to
Be patient and show your support to devs working day and night
or go follow another forum.

I think that a lot of this has to do with security of the Android system. Remember that we get root and bypasses by dev's finding holes in security. That means that those same security holes can be used by rogue hackers to steal data. It's a big deal for all of us and especially for businesses. If Verizon and the phone makers wants to sell Android on the enterprise level, they have to prove that it's secure for enterprise use. For most users, this isn't a big deal. They just use stock. But for us...
I think the real issue here is that carriers are exploiting those of us who want an open device by charging full price and by releasing it much later than their locked devices. THAT'S the BS IMO

Ummmm....top poster. Just unnecessary. OP is not putting down devs. He's restating what the devs are feeling..are you following devs on Twitter? Some of the very best out there are refusing to touch a Samsung phone and many are just tired. Development isn't dead. It just evolves.
I think we should all say f sammy, htc, lg and anyone else other than nexus.
Android is going to take a huge blow once iPhone releases a bigger screen. I mean let's be real, if they start locking us out, what's the point of Android.

You need remember that it isn't htc or Samsung or any of the others for the most part. But rather verizon and at&t. Any of the other carriers can unlock their bootloaders on practically every android device
