[Q] Does Google Voice search - if so how - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Has anyone gotten google voice search to work. I know that it easy to type in a search request, it's just more to try it out since it is a option. I have tried several apps for voice and I nothing I do seems to make it work. As always, thanks for the help.

Hello and welcome to the NT forum, i just made a search here in General section and look what i found:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458356&highlight=google+voice+search
Please next time try to do a research first! if you don't find it then post your question here.
I know the XDA search is not the best tool of its kind but by googling "what i want to find, XDA" should be enough.
~ Veronica

I did perform a search using the search this forum feature and did not see a result that I thought answered my question. Maybe I didn't use good enough key words, I thought I used google voice as the key words. I have seen to many replies saying what you said not to do this first. But thank you for finding what I seem not to be good enough to find.

just copy Google VoiceSearch.apk to system/app
make sure the right permission
then reboot,you got it

Thank You. That is where I was making my mistake. In the post it just gave the download link and I was installing that is why it never worked for me. I an new to android, I still haven't learned when to do what.

Hi, I am new to all this stuff. Where is a good place to go to learn how to, most of the post are experienced dudes, and I get lost in the lingo! Thx. I would also like to know if I actually rooted my phone. How can I tell! Thx! RF

RF,
Well, we all started out with our first posts just like you, so you've already started on your journey.
My best advice would be to read around and research the topics that might interest you. If you post, try to give as much information as you can, be polite and respectful as you've already shown, and show thanks to those that have helped you.
You might want to start by looking into the topics listed in the Eris Roll-up Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756775 which should give you a good start on things.
There's lots of great folks here at XDA as well as other forums (such as AndroidForums, which you'll find many of these same folks, although XDA is much bigger and has more members).
If the forum search doesn't return what you are looking for, try using Google to help search the very same forum by doing a search such as "site:forum.xda-developers.com eris overclocking". This will often return results that the forum search will not, but the forum search also has other features and benefits too (search by poster, est.).
You can check if your phone is rooted in a couple of ways:
1. Download and install the free "Android Terminal Emulator" app, type in "su" (without the quotes, of course), and if the prompt changes from "$" to "#" then you are rooted.
2. Download and install the free "drocap2" screen capture app and try to run it. This app requires root and if you are indeed rooted, you will get a request from the "SuperUser" app asking you to "Allow" or "Deny" use of root (that's your indication that you are indeed rooted).
Welcome and cheers!

[Q] no contacts tab in ics?

Not sure if this has been asked before, tried a search but couldn't see anything.
As the title suggests, after flashing Intra's Franky LP3, all is working extremely well. I also wiped and reset phone after flashing.
The only thing I've noticed is that there are no "contacts" or "groups" tabs in the Phone section liked there used to be in GB. I know you could scroll the tabs along the top, but mine doesn't now. I have "keypad", "logs" and "faves" but nothing else. To get to Contacts it's Menu/All Contacts.
Is this an ICS thing ?
Thanks guys.
Phil

So, yes, been asked and answered before.
You need to work on your search-fu.
Ok, thanks for the nice reply mate. I appreciated your help. Not sure what more anyone can do other than type in the problem and read for 2 hours through all the threads that the search results came up with and still not find an answer.
If questions offend you I'll ask elsewhere. Have a great day.
Questions don't offend me at all.
Questions that have been asked and answered multiple times in multiple posts that are easily found by a very basic search frustrate me, and go against forum rule #1: search before posting.
So instead of people following this rule, and doing some basic searching, we get people posting the same few questions every couple of days.
Trust me, I'm not the only one who feels this way.

[Q] Where is the Search Function?

Is it just me or did the search function on the XDA site suddenly disappear? I wanted to find something in a very large thread this morning, and the search function is gone. I checked a few other threads; gone from those too.
So, if people are constantly complaining that other people aren't searching threads for answers before asking questions......but there is no search function....how is that going to work?

looks like they are working on it. all search is down for the time being.
which is cool because now we dont need to search and ask the same question that was 3 pages back. lulz

What happened to the search button?

I no longer see "Search This Forum" or "Search This Thread" buttons anymore. Without a working search function, the forums will get messy real quick.
EDIT: Didn't realize that it was affecting the entire forums... Found an existing thread in the xda-developers.com forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732296. Sorry about that, but searching for something without a search feature is hard.
