I can not find code: "persist.ril.uart.flowctrl=1"
Tried Root Explorer and Rom Toolbox and neither showed this. I am running Joker's 1.4 kernal not sure if that could possibly make any difference???

what rom cm doesn't have it think its only stock or stock based I'm on rocko and its there also just did the file swap can't say it helped yet but no problems with it so far don't think in going to try the unthrottle mod though looks terribly risky of having to sbf the line in my prop is immediately after cdma ril........

Currently running CM7.2 and the code literally isn't there at all which leads me to believe that you could just delete the entire thing and it would either help or hurt your speed on Sprint's network.

idk thread says if you put a 0 you lose internet and zep was looking into it saying it can only be turned on or off not adjusted but then again said maybe it could be seems like it needs more research/testing but hell as horrible as sprint network in my areas is especially without 4g and flakey wifi anything that can help im trying

so i have been running this for a full day now and can say both mods seemed to have improved my stability and speed of internet saying this because in my are the 3gs are more like no gs and withe mod1 and 2 in place ive gotten a very reliable connection and much improved ( not to the point of worth shouting about but ) i a using null settings on mod 1 just leaving it blank and ive done the file swap in the second mod i want to try the unthrottle bit but im no dev and dont want to play with it not knowing exactly what it could do to my magnificent mopho. gl folks hope this works for you guys as well as it "appears" to be for me

Im on cm9 and its also not there, well it wasn't i added persist.ril.uart.flowctrl=10 to the ril sections, and my results where better data speeds on the cm9 which has been terrible btw. going to try mod 2 while im at it.

So doesn't Zep's 3G Tweak script do essentially the same or is this different somehow?

As far as I know his scripts don't but he is testing it to maybe include it or thats what I understood from reading his posts.....
Just did the whole unthrottle mod was much easier than I thought everything running great no problems at all too early to tell if it improved anything but we will see and ill report if anything has

using rocko's unlocked rom with it nulled out (left it blank) maybe placebo but feels like its better so far as adding it to cm i think cm already removes the flow control im not 100% on that but if you wanna try it make sure you nandroid and or put a .bak after your prop so you can fix if something goes awry.

The location should'nt matter. You definitely dont want a # before a line that you want parsed. A # is essentially voiding that line out. It is called a comment in technical terms.

That can probably be done with this phone since it uses the same chipset as the E3D and Sensation. Once I get mine next tuesday/wednesday ill see what I can do about getting this module to work.
If anyone takes a look at it, post anything you have tried. This could in theory at the very least allow an undervolt which would help offset the LTE power sucking.
Yeah see I wwas talking about this earlier. I think this will work. I PMed viperboy who actually wrote one of the bloatware scripts when we had temproot. Just waiting for a response AMD hope to get a jump start on this. Good idea starting this thread tho

Coming from the bravoc which has almost zero development aside from 2fast at his site I am used to just thinking of things to try. I was able to port a couple dinc roms to it even though I was told it couldn't be done. I hope to be much more involved with development here since there are already more posts in this section than there were in a year at the site dedicated to the bravoc

It took a few days to get that inc port almost bugfree (usb pc transfer wouldn't work) but it was otherwise fine iirc. I hope that with support and other work to use as examples i can make some stuff for this device that isn't either a variation of AOSP or a sense port that has some serious drawbacks.
I am personally more interested in the possibility of underclocking and undervolting than OCing. Or maybe OCing and undervolting like I did with my droid x - can really help save some battery and allow the phone to sip less juice. This phone is so new I am getting ahead of myself, but hopefully in time we can get root/roms/OCing and undervolting apps to work on the Rezound.
I normally run my battery on performance mode on all my phones. I set it to normal, and with the equivalent usage I get 1/3 better battery life. I even leave all my antenna's on(except WiFi when I am away).
Just to let everyone know what I tried. I took the file for "unsupported phones" from the link's thread and changed the version number to match the rezound, which is -- 2.6.35.13-g20c5d1d -- . As you can see it was not just the ending part starting with the 'g' that needed to be changed as ours is 2.6.35.13 and the file was made for 2.6.35.10. But since a reboot resets everything I tried it by changing only the part starting with 'g' and it failed saying "Exec format error". So I then changed the entire version string to match ours and adb actually completed the task but the phone rebooted immediately and everything was wiped out again.
I did this before the kernel source was put up on the forums but since I dont have ANY knowledge of messing with kernels I am no help there, but hopefully this can help someone get this mod going for the Rezound.
we don't have perma root like the 3vo did so I don't think this will work until then. But this was a band aid until the kernel source was released so this won't even be necessary anymore.

The guy who made Setcpu made a script that allowed oc on the stock kernel on the 3D. It was before perm root. It was right after agrabren found the first exploit and a reboot would return the phone to stock. You temp rooted ran the script from adb and used Setcpu to oc.. Some of the smoothest kernel action the 3D had.. I'm sure same thing is potentially there, just need someone smart enough to do..

Since I happened to venture to theses parts since our buddy plat ventured to this. I am a bit surprised to see you switched. How ever the module you are talking about in the op I am pretty sure you can't just hex edit the kernel version. As the kernel will be different for the device compared to that of the evo 3d. If it is anything like doing the g2 version for the htc merge that is. Where it had to be recompiled to work correctly.
I am sure one of the dev's familiar in here with building source code could get it done up. If it works after that I am unsure. Though con you ported the sense hd rom from the inc to the desire. That was the only one that you had ported. Followed by you followed samuel2706's guide and other info he gave you. Then you came to me to ask how I fixed the mms and verizon branding in the rom. In which I told you how to fix it but you put it off as you fixed it. As you are putting off in here.

[MOD] DTR Throttle Remover

This is a mod to remove the data throttle from your rom. This does make a big difference if you use a lot of data. This is not a one size fits all solution. In order to make one for your rom, I will need your services.jar file in /system/framework. This will break the Mobile Network settings in your rom. You can easily get the throttle back with the remover mod. OP WIP. Attach your services.jar file to a post and say what rom you want it for. A thanks wouldn't hurt either
Thanks:

Awesome! Thanks bored!
sub'd This looks promising
So VZW has a data throttle in services.jar and your tweak removes them but breaks other things and bored is going to fix what is broke?
Can you post the code changes please?
Also: Sprint locks ther hotspot and it can be unlocked in services.jar. Has anyone tried that with the VZW hotspot? I started parsing the tethergaurd and see some calls that authenticate or force to authenticate... Just wondering if you had any thoughts on that? Would be a nice little gift

Yeah, I am pretty sure we could do it. I had asked if anyone had a ROM with a hacked hot spot (like we do on Sprint) and was told no one has done it yet.
With VZW, I am sure it will be differnt than Sprint, because VZW uses two different APK's while sprint uses one. To hack sprint you need to hack the services.jar (I think) and it would bypass the subscription check.
I looked at tetherign guard, thats the actual APK that does the checking and allows for authentication and saw some interesting stuff but never got a chance to follow up on it because shortly after we got unlocked and I have been focusing on ROM ever since.
I have Wed and Thur off so I might tear it down again and start looking at the code more closely.

For Hotspot or for Throttle... Sorry, I totally derailed this thread
I'm currently rooted, but still on stock, I'm not on any ROM. I'm confused on what this does? Are all are phones currently throttled? If I install this now do my speeds increase?
for the fc you get when you go to settings/wireless/mobile networks after the throttle is removed
the call what in the phone.apk settings.smali.... i'll mess with it more but i need to spend some time with my family for awhile

When you go over a certain amount of data usage per month, Verizon decreases your data speeds. It is called throttling. This removes throttling. All Rezounds without this mod have it.
Back on the X2, this is what we did. Any chances it could be so simple for the Rezound? I know for damn sure I don't get throttled because I get ridiculous speeds all the time, lol.

DISCLAIMER:
I cannot be held responsible for what YOU do to YOUR phone. With that said let's start!
(FYI: I use Root Explorer for this)
1. Preform a NAND Backup if you do not have one already
2. Make sure you are in WiFi or Airplane mode, or are not connected to 3G
3. Open root explorer and navigate to '/data/system/'
4. Find the 'throttle' folder and change the folder permissions to 'Owner:' 'Read' and 'Execute' only. (r-x------)
5. Open up the 'throttle' folder, you should have 2 files in here, one is 'temp' and the other is something like '-1226839461'. Backup these files to your SD card in case you have problems.
6. DELETE both files in the 'throttle' folder.
7. Reboot.
I am getting constant speeds of 2.31Mbps down and .7+ up. (On Eclipse 1.2RC1) Keep in mind this is only a theory for now, until I can get confirmation that it works for you guys also.

New SHOstock ICS ROM- advice needed

This is my first post on XDA so I wasn't able to ask under that thread. By the way, If the Dev happens to see this, congrats and thanks for a great ROM so quick out of the gate for ICS- hats off to him and others who worked on it. My question is whether or not the new ICS Siyah kernels are compatible with the Rom and if Extweaks is safe to use with or without any kernel changes. My main reason for asking is that Id like to adjust the touchscreen sensitivity a bit using Extweaks. Thanks in advance to anyone who can clarify this for me.
One last question re: the new ICS Roms for the I777- I've noticed a considerable drop in Data speeds on all 3 I've flashed. Do I need to make any adjustments to the APN settings with these newer ROMS or better to leave them alone. Thanks again.

I'm almost positive those are not compatible yet. I agree about the touchscreen sensitivity, though.

I tried the other two APN's with reboots in between and am still only at around 300k download and 900k upload, if the Speednet numbers are accurate. On previous GB Rom's I consistently got at least double this on dl and much less on uploads. I am not around WiFi connections that much so the disparity in speed was quickly evident. I haven't used speednet's app for some time and can't remember the name of the app(German company I wanna say) which I liked more. Does anyone happen to know the name of it or another besides Speednet they recommend?

Shoman went back to KK6 modem in latest release due to idle battery drain and spotty speeds. What modem are you using, what RC are you on?
Modem
I've been on RC5 since this morning, however the data speeds have been this low on RC2,3 and 4. Phone Bricker 1.0 produced similar results, by the way. I thought perhaps this was an issue with the kernel at first until subsequent updates didn't correct it. I don't live in a 4G area, but I used to get anywhere from 1-2 mbps download speeds sitting on the same sofa I am now. I flashed back to a late GB Rom(Hellraised VK-Stable) briefly the other day, which resolved the problem. I'm not overly concerned about it, but I haven't seen any reports of data speed variances as severe as mine. I'll definitely try what you recommend though, as I love the new handful of ICS Roms now out.
Look here for alternative modems:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361393
Also you can check with google maps which modem is best for your area(directions in the same thread)
I thought I would chime in on this one too as I just flashed RC5 a few minutes ago. I was running FakeRom before this one which is based off the i777 leak with the new modem and I was getting great speeds with that modem!! I wasn't on it long enough to get a feel for battery drain but the speed improvements were significant. With the UCK6 modem I can only manage about 1MB download but with the new modem I was getting 3MB consistently. I tried all 3 APN settings as well with no change in speed. What's the process for flashing a new modem?
Also, on the i777 leak I was getting Quadrant scores of 4000 but now I'm getting scores of 2900. Is that a kernel based issue? It feels like a lot more lag than the leaked version.
HOWEVER, I love love love the ROM. The overall look and feel is fantastic and Shoman did a great job with it! I can't wait for some of these issues to be resolved and see just how great it'll be!!

Modem flash is a simply CWM flash like anything else.
Yea I was being an idiot and not thinking flashed the new modem and I'm actually getting worse speeds than before. Strange!
I'm going to mess around with different modems, settings, etc. until I find one that works best in my area. The quadrant scores bother me though. I actually haven't even check SetCPU so maybe it's just scaled back by default.
Thanks!
I love the map concept- thanks for the link. I just flashed the "local favorite"- UCKH7. No noticable difference on Speedtest, but I'm going to test it out for a while. I always got great results from both KK6 and KH7 on GB Roms, so this is a mystery to me.

Thanks!

Word of advice. Quadrant scores don't mean BLEEP!! Scores vary from run to run and its no real indication of real world performance.

Completely understood and the only reason I even bothered to run Quadrant was because I could feel a bit of lag and I was surprised to see such a difference. Made some small SetCPU changes and I'm back in the mid-3000's so I'm happy.
By the way, the APEX launcher is freaking awesome!! Thanks again to Shoman for the ROM!!

One last question, is it possible to use the MMS.apk from UnOriginal with the ICS framework? I completely love the look of that MMS UI and was going to try copying it in but wondered if it was too different?
I installed RC4 last night and noticed issues with my signal dropping from H+ to 3G regularly. I'm currently downloading RC5. Hopefully the modem change will fix it. Oddly enough I didn't really notice any drastic changes in speed from stock to RC4, though my area is terrible for data speeds.
Finally!!
Guys,
I just flashed UCLC2, downloaded from the link kindly provided above:
Update: the speeds are improved but are erratic so I'm now hesistant to call this modem the cure at all after seeing this.

That's the true connection. Idle is normal on 3g and it transfers data on h+.
AT&T hides that by making it say h+ all the time.

Not likely. Unnamed had the stock AT&T look except for the bubbles.

I wonder how difficult it would be to just change the bubbles? That's really the only thing I'm after. The overall theme of your ROM is perfect but man do I love the bubbles from Unnamed!!

[Q] New to Photon

I was due for an upgrade a few months back and never owned a smart phone but was able to get this phone free 2 weeks ago so obviously took it. Was hoping to get a few of you photon lovers to guide me in the best direction to get the best perfomance out of it. I have gotten the phone rooted and that is as far as I went. Due to so many mixed messages as to what are the best setups I was just wondering if a few of you that have had long time success with a particular setup could give me some steps. Thank you very much for any help.

I guess my personal input is
1 -- if you are in an area where you can get 4G speed, then stop and just enjoy it
2 -- use it awhile and if it does what you want to do, then stop and just enjoy it.
3 -- remember that ICS is coming soon. if you are willing to use an alpha ROM without 4G, and there is also something you Must have, then consider a custom ROM. And then enjoy it!

1-- 4G isn't a big deal to me since it is in limited areas around here and my 3G isn't horrible.
2-- I am enjoying messing with it, just figured if I can give it a performance boost I would.
3-- As far as ICS goes, I have it on my asus tablet and love it but been getting mixed messages on when that will be available for us if at all. If we do get it, I'm assuming any changes I make can be reversed ( correct me if I'm wrong ). Also thanks for your reply.
i love the photon but it will never be 4gbunlocked so that sucks. i run gummy rom installed with kitchen sink. i have zero problems with anything. ive ran every rom on here. kitchen sink gummy is best. be careful about installing bravia through kitchen sink i could never get it to boot so i left it out. beats audio is cool though, as is the bigger ics keyboard.

I would really appreciate if you could give me a run down on how to get this on my stock photon, also did you happen to oc you cpu? I have read alot of the threads on different roms but it becomes a little confusing for first time, also knowing how to revert back would be good too. Thanks alot.

If 4g is of no concern to you then i would definitely suggest that you unlock. The little tweaks and such you can make to stock rom just doesnt even compare to what throwing a custom on it would do for ya. The reason i would suggest doing that as soon as you can is because the latest updates will permanently lock your bootloader, this also includes the ics update that is soon to come. It cant be reversed at this time unfortunately. Do yourself a favor and dont get locked down to a rom that you will never be able to get rid of.

That to me was well said thank you. That being said, unlocking is the first thing I am to do correct? Then I will be able to explore different roms and such correct? If this is the first step then I'm off to learn how to unlock this thing.

Cybiks pure CM7 if you want everything to work flawlessly. Cm9 if you can stand a couple bugs and want bleeding edge ics. If you choose cm9 be sure to read the cm9 fixes thread for proper installation procedure.

I said
4G is Much faster, but I travel a lot and rarely am able to keep a 4G connection for more than 30 seconds or a minute or so. And more like 1G in my house, but I use 6M WiFi so OK. So, 4G for me is worthless.
Addiction? LOL!
Peace !
I have tried CM9 and Gummy from Kitchen Sink and for both roms can not get past the boot screen.
Ignore this. Didnt mean to double post, i is drunk.
Yep, success with both. Tell me your entire installation procedure for each and ill try to point you in the right direction. Its probably just a simple mistake. Also, the versions from kitchen sink are not the latest versions. Installing a rom the good old fashioned way is less convenient but less prone to error.

Which version of cm9 are most people using? I grabbed the latest from Jokers site and seems good except I have no phone service lol.
Two different versions of cm9 and neither have a mobile network. I am using jokers recovery v3 to flash. not sure what I am doing wrong and damn the rom runs soo smooth, any help is appreciated. I am putting the roms on my sd card booting into recovery, doing a data wipe and cache then installing the zip from my sd. It boots into the rom fine although it does say something about an error once booted but the only problem I see is no mobile network.
Go to cm9 fixes thread, grab cm9 version 3.1. Wipe system/dalv/data/cache, install 3.1, boot, reboot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, install latest cm9, install gapps, reboot.

AOKP Port in Progress

See my thread in the Dev section for downloads and Instructions: [ROM][AOKP][PORT] AOKP for the DX2 and the MX2 [8/4/12]
I have been working on an AOKP port for the Droid X2 and the Milestone X2. It's a port of the milestone 6 AOKP build available for the Atrix 4G (made by Th3Bill), using DzK's CM9 Alpha 5 as a base. Thus far everything seems to be running smoothly. I got it to boot after probably a good half hour of playing with the resolution in an AOKP animation I found over on RootzWiki.
I ran into some problems with the phone app refusing to show up, but eventually googled it and found that it was the modded contacts apk doing it. It still has a few things I should probably iron out such as some minor graphical glitches on first boot, and the section in settings for the 4G data crashing the settings app. In my probably fifteen hours of testing this out on my MX2 I've had one random reboot, everything else seems to be about where CM9 Alpha 5 is in terms of stability.
Anyway my point in posting this is: is there anything anyone would want me to add? Like a cool wallpaper, a cool theme, or even some cool mods. For example, I personally like the soft keys with the hard keys remapped to music controls that can be found over in the dev section. That specific mod should be left out, but is there anything you've seen somewhere that's for the DX2 or the MX2 or even a universal mod that you guys think would be nifty to have preinstalled? I've seen that there's at least a nearly fully functional version of Google Now for ICS, would anyone want that added in?
Please note that I take no credit for anything used in this project. All I'm doing is combining files to make something I think will be cool. If in the future you feel the urge to praise someone, praise DzK, Th3Bill, or any of the other developers I may or may not use stuff from.
awesome, i will be watching to see how this goes. Good Luck.
I know of a feature that you could investigate. Having 1% battery increments on the battery indicator.
I'll be watching this closely, if you need a guinea pig I would be willing to help

Yeah man, I second this. Would love to see 1% increments too.
I'll see what I can do. Wasn't there something like that for blur over in the dev forum? Might have to take a look at that.
hmm...it might already be there, just need to wait for my battery percentage to drop to confirm.
Edit: Or maybe not, just played music full blast through an unpowered speaker for a good 10 minutes, didn't drop one percent. So either I'm getting incredible battery life or it's still at 10% increments...well back to work.

i believe either in the systemui.apk or framework-res.apk youll hafta set it up to show battery increments of 1%, but i couldnt tell you if its within either of those or another apk. youll hafta google it.
Wait what is this about 4G data? The DX2 doesn't have 4G because it doesn't have the hardware for 4G.
The atrix has 4G. I think he is talking about a problem with the port because of that.
Sent from my MB870 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, the Atrix has 4G and the settings for it show up here but do not work because we do not have 4G.
In the way of the 1% battery I think I got it (at least while not charging), but I can't check yet because I tried to just replace framework-res.apk and it didn't like it when I renamed the old one before copying over the new one...so sbf'ing now and will check after I flash my updated zip.
Okay, I got 1% battery working, as long as it's left on the default battery icon option in settings.
On a slightly different note why does this forum have a requirement of 10 posts before you can post external links? I still need four posts before I can post links to this thing.
Well I want a download link so reply to all of my post, or go to general hangout bs thread and post about your day. Lol

I may not be able to post a link yet but there's now a wholesome copy/past-able link-substitute in the OP.
Downloading now will flash and report later.
Do I need to flash ics gapps with this?
I hope this doesn't kill my phone.

You do need to flash the ICS GApps.
Oh and forgot to mention you should wipe /data, /cache, and /system and dalvik-cache prior to flashing, and wipe dalvik and fix permissions after the flash as well. I'm not sure if those last two are necessary but I always do it out of habit from my old phone and I'm not sure if that was affecting the generally good results I was having.
Thanks, I usually wipe the big three anyways. What does fix permissions do? It won't hurt anything if I do it, even though I might not need to?

Fix permissions shouldn't hurt anything. If you running some special mod that requires special permissions in /system than it can mess with that mod but other than that I have never heard of it causing problems.
(Here you go, get one more post in) What are the advantages of AOKP opposed to say CM9 or even MIUI?
Edit: and if this is even semi stable and working shouldn't it be moved on over to And Dev section?

AOKP is actually very similar to CM9, based on it in fact, the major difference there is that AOKP has a few more customization options in it. It has a whole section in settings called "ROM Control" through which you can change a whole slew of things. Most of those things are related to the interface but there are a couple of sections with some cool performance tweaks, like you can set custom values for the sd card speed tweak, you can have it zip-align unaligned apk's at boot, fix permissions at boot and other things. AOKP also has some other performance tweaks set up that are integrated into the system.
MIUI I haven't actually used on this phone, or ever on ICS, but as I understand it MIUI is more about looks and being able to theme it than it is about performance. AOKP and CM9 are more centered around providing great performance with an interface that is simple and clean. MIUI is much more flashy. It's also much easier to theme MIUI than it is to theme CM9 or AOKP. Or so I've heard I've never actually tried theming it.
The only reason I didn't put this in the Dev forum was because it required 10 posts to put up a new thread in there. Actually, I think this post gives me that 10 posts. Should I go ahead and put a thread up in there with instructions, links and all that?
Edit: Meant to ask another question, has anyone tried my DX2 version, I only have an MX2 and have only tested that. Would like to know if the DX2 version works.
Very in depth answer, thank you. But yes, I would move it over to dev and let some more people. Im away this weekend but if no x2 users have tried this by mon or tue ill give it a go.
Edit:Nope I thought about it and I don't know about posting again over in dev, they might get on you for double posting. I'd contact a mod and ask them to move it for you and rename it. Just my opinion.
