Touch Enabled CWM ! :D - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I don't see any threads about this so far, so i'll sound the alarms.
koush has developed a touch enabled version of CWM, and it is compatible with our At&t SGS2 ! there was a post about it on android police and here is the link
-----> http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...q-lg-optimus-black-2x-3d-htc-rezound-g2-mt4g/
and in that post there is a link to download the touch enabled CWM for our phones, which is this one
----->http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
just find our At&t SGS2 in the list and download the touch version and I'm pretty sure its CWM flashable because I can't find the .IMG file to flash manually...
I haven't tested it yet because my phone isn't available, but give it a go,
and sound off if it works for you.

13 threads below yours....

already been discussed for more than a few days now

*face palm*
sorry, didn't see that one... and i was so excited too, oh well..
if a mod could delete this thread, that would be good. my apologies on the double threads

OP ...did you REALLY search? The other thread is titled Touch Screen CWM!
..seriously, what is up with today.

Tmobile TV and Think Office

Hi. I am a first time poster but a long time follower. This past week I rooted to Nero V5. However there are two apps that I no longer have that I want but can't find. Tmobile TV no longer shows up in the market and Think Office is in the market but didnt the Vibrant come with the whole version for free. I am wondering how I can get these back. Sorry if this has been answered somewhere, but I did a search and could not find anything. I am also a noob to most of this stuff so forgive me there. Any help would be appreciated.

[Q] Installing Clockwork Mode Recovery

Hello,
I am rather new at all this stuff, but after searching for dfferent tutorials, I am trying to install ClockWorkMod Recovery on my ATT Galaxy S 2 based on the instructions below:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II_(AT&T):_Full_Update_Guide
The problem I am having is on
Step 5. Untar codeworkx's kernel into the Heimdall directory.
When I do this, it gives me an error saying the firmware.xml is missing from the package.,
I was wondering if anyone knew the reason and a work aaround.
Thank you
Why don't you take a walk around the forums and view the forums?

To Coreym and others who thought this thread should be closed due to the "have been covered in Sticky" and Mod Red.
Firstly, I personally do not think this question has been covered in Sticky.
The OP asking about how to install CwM Recovery onto his phone retaining stock kernels, NOT custom kernel. Yes, I did ask the question and creepy has provided answer b4. Yes, ramos did ask the same question and got the answer, I'm sure there were one or two more in the room. Yes, it has been answered but NOT covered in the Sticky.
Secondly, I don't believe the OP should get any flame because he did do the search and did his homework, he just ran into some errors, that's why he asked for help. This is way different than others who not even do homework, haven't even tried on their system, but just asked for direction.
I believe in this case, the OP did do his best and asked for help, that's why I provided a suggestion to him, rather than flame.

I hope the OP or you don't take it that way.
Also maybe I read it wrong but it looks like he's trying to install CWM using codeworkx kernel.. which is a custom kernel, not stock. Even the instructions in the link he provided go back to installing a custom kernel.
Okay I just went back and don't see ANYWHERE where the OP is trying to install CWM while retaining stock kernel.. I guess I must be blind

I'm at my wits end. I've been using this method: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II_(AT&T):_Full_Update_Guide
I can not get recovery to work. The menu displays and when I pick a item from the menu I just get the top-hat screen and nothing. It can't find the sig.
I have searched this forum extensively..but I haven't found the answer.
I've put CM on my N1, Att Inspire and my short lived Skyrocket without any problems. But this time I am stumped, I can't get recovery to work.
I rooted the SGII using the Odin One Click..worked great.
And yes, I've checked: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511838
Any suggestions?

I think thats in the binary yellow triangle thread or the other CWM thread... both linked from the sticky.
Red5 whats the deal with this thread? I was under the impression that this was already covered. After getting my post quoted and being told that the OP was trying to install CWM with his existing kernel, I went back and read the OP and followed his link. It seems to me that he is just trying to install CWM like we all have, using codeworkx kernel and not his existing kernel.
If that is the case, I guess I don't know why this thread hasn't been closed. Seems a little confusing to me (and probably others) as to what threads are allowed to stay and which ones aren't ... if we are talking about multiple threads with the same topic (installing CWM)..?
Not questioning your authority, just would like a little clarification.

Well, there was a decent conversation going on, until someone had to crap on it. Threads that just ask "how to install this?"are shut down because 99% is covered in the stickys or are linked in the stickys.
This thread had a decent conversation and I was waiting to make sure the user got the info he needed and was successful. Its called helping out. Once that takes place, the thread can be closed because there is no longer any need for any more discussion.
Its not beneficial to just automatically close every thread that pops up in the General or Q&A section. Even Devs started out as noobs at one point, so we need to be somewhat courteous in the offchance that the next noob might turn out to be a great dev in the future. The OP didnt seem like your ordinary noob that just wanted to be spoonfed, so I gave him the benefit of a doubt and left this open.

hey man, sorry if I crapped on this thread. It really wasn't my intention. There was no sarcasm, that was the reason why. I gave you an honest answer. I dont think every thread should be closed and as I said, this thread had a decent conversation in it. With that, I took a look at the sticky and realized that I can modify it to better point out the issue that the OP had. Had I just closed the thread I never would have stumbled onto that.
Again, there was no sarcasm in my comment. I just wanted to help out a newer member and left this open for him.
lol.. you can honestly say that you weren't being sarcastic when you told me "its called helping out"
..normally anytime you put "it's called.." in front of ANYTHING other than a question asking what something is, it's being sarcastic.. just sayin.

It also pisses me off when I post a question in the proper section and no one responds.

I bought the app LCD Density modder pro, it comes with a modifed play store that reports your LCD Density at 240dpi to the market.
This fixes the "App not compatible errors"
I've been flashing a lot of ICS roms lately and I was sick of booting ICS, running LCD modded, installing the modded files, rebooting... etc.. etc.. so I made myself a CWM zip file that I just flash right after I flash a rom.
Even tho it's a personal file, I gave LCD Density modded all the credit. Although I know of other sources the show you how to do the mods yourself. I don't know if I'm allow to post the CWM zip file here for you guys to download, or even if you do in fact want to download it.
So, if it's ok for me to post the file, can a mod let me know? Please and thanks. I will post it in the main form for others and let you guys know where it's too.
Thanks

Sorry for not explaining it better (being the OP). It sounded very clear inside my head when typing.......and that is a problem I know!
When trying to download some apps in the Market (Crackle TV app for example) I get the error "this app is not compatible with your phone". There was a "trick" posted awhile back that by changing something in the build prop using a text editor that would make the market think I had a newer modeled phone and thus could get the apps to download.
I had run for months with the market thinking I had a Nexus I believe (again, sorry I can't remember what I had changed it to) for a long time with no issues, but these latest builds of ICS just aren't playing nice with the Play Store.
I truly thought it was a common thing people were doing with the fascinate in order to have full access to the market/play store. Thus, I just condensed my question thinking it was going to get multiple hits and a quick answer. My mistake there again.

S-Voice for Galaxy S II

Hi, I have searched for an answer and haven't had any luck. I know that the latest S-Voice App supposedly can't be installed on something other than a device running ICS. Found Here: http://www.xda-developers.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s-ii/
However, I can't seem to get it to work. It keeps giving me an error: There is a problem parsing the package.
I'm guessing I can't install it because I'm not running ICS. Can anyone confirm this? as it has been mentioned, that it does work. Found Here: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/samsung-s-voice-ripped-for-the-world-to-enjoy/

OP, you realize that as a T-mobile USA user, who owns an SGH-T989, you are actually in the wrong forum for your device, right? (I've also noticed you've posted in the Epic 4G Touch forums as well...)
I've already tried to tell you once that you're posting in the wrong forums. I guess it's up to you to realize what you're doing.
I'm not saying it as a matter of you're not allowed to post here, but if you request ports, mods, firmwares or kernels, and you post in a device forum that ISN'T yours, people will link you to solutions that will NOT work for your phone, and in all likelihood cause you no shortage of headaches if you decide to follow their instructions or install stuff they link you to.
Your device (SGH-T989) has VERY different hardware from the GT-I9100 and the Epic 4G Touch (SPH-D710).
But it's up if you want to continue to post in other device forums.

Well.. i got to admit, you're very good using google.. but i still didn't found anything on those results that works on a JB touchwiz, not CM10 based ROM, did you?
Rule N1
"Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news."
OUR=Google.. oh my bad, i've used XDA search engine, maybe its the same engine.. I dont know.
I Really apreciate your help, maybe i didn't said that i've tried everything on those results previously and that they didn't worked for me, it causes BootLoop's, so you assumed that i didn't searched anything, may be i didn't melted my brain searching but i've searched alot, im a member since 2008 and this is my 1st thread started by me, so i didnt started the thread without having a little fight with search options.
Thank you for you help.
