[Q]Screen clean Solutions - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

HI everyone ,
I'm currently using a micro-fibre cloth to get rid of fingerprints . But sometimes theres too much grease(oil) and the cloth fails . I'm using a
'laptop screen cleaning solution' called "iclene" (LOL)
it's alcohol free and anti-static .
The question is : Is it safe ?
I mean newer screens hav some anti-fingerprint coating don't they ?
p.s:btw the solution works great so far. I use it on the cloth and the screen is crystal clear [for a while] . My screen is wierd to touch for about a minute and then its ok . been using it for 2 weeks and no prob .

Glue remains on screen after taken out screen protector !

Hi there all Shift owners ,
I have just replaced my screen protector as the original one is a bit scratchy and got many lines on the left scrolling up / down area , when i peel off the original screen protector , it left a sillicone glue residue on my touch screen . It is messy and ugly and very very sticky and the sight gave me a shock because it is all over and very very sticky to the screen . Then i checked with my local Htc people , a new touch screen cost Usd265/- plus labour charges is Usd 22/- , and i got to back up all data or else it will be deleted away when they replace this screen , it is very very expensive . Luckily i started scratching the glue out by using only my finger nails , little by little , a line by a line , it took me about 5 to 6 hours of hard labour , also rubbing away the scratched glue with my fingers and a piece of tissue paper , no water was used , then finally it was all cleared away , then i install my new screen protector and it is done now . i tested the touch screen n it works fine , i got no choice but to put in this new screen protector because at least it will only scratch the protector and not the actual screen from now on for my daily usage , so beware when u change a new screen protector . i didn't use any liqiud cleaner , thinner or anything else as i am afraid to smear or damage the screen also . thks for reading and cheers - jimmunsw
why dont you just use a simple tool called ALCOHOL PREP? or maybe use FLAME FLUID like ZIPPO FLUID.. use a clothe and pour some ZIPPO on it, then wipe on the screen to clear the stickiness.....................
Thks for yr info - b3ngz , i didint try these liquids earlier because i am afraid it may blur more of my shift screen , i guess it's too big a risk for me to try and test , so i just use my fingernails to slow-mo scratched the glue/gum out . I think different type of manufacturer screens will give a different reactions to using these zippo liquids . Thanks for yr reply anyway , cheers , enjoy our shift

I have never used screen protectors. That is because, I don't need one, I take care of my phone(it hasn't fallen...yet xD).
I never wear the phone in the same pocket with coins, keys etc. No scratches on the phone at all.
Can't thank you enough in one day ( only 8 thanks per day ) .... thanks for replying to my every query..
Well screenguards are all a matter of personal preference. I ALWAYS have used and will be using screen guards. Mostly because the active has the strap that has an aluminium "lock"? on it, and it so happens to be going on the screen over and over again, resulting to scratching it. Even though the Active has Dragontrail glass, which is said to be much stronger than Gorrila, i just cant bare to see a single scratch on the screen

Nope, it is not gorilla glass. It is shatterproof mineral glass with (apparently) scratchproof layer. Apparently, not sure how scratchproof it is.
I do not have any scratches on my LWW, but it is because I take care of my phone. I haven't tested, if it really is scratchproof, neither am I going to test it.

How can scratches appear during playing games?
as long as they didn't say that the screen is 'scratch proof' i will always put screen guard
I have dropped my phone twice (accidentally of course) around 3ft high. No scratch so far, also it use to stay on my pocket together with coins and key. So far smooth screen and back cover. But since it easily caught smudge from frequent texting; I installed matted screen protector.

It is said to be scratchproof mineral glass.
Tried with paperclip on my LWW, nothing appeared. No protectors at all.

There is no special screenguard for this phone, buy a regular one, which is large enough and cut it to smaller, so it would fit the LWW.
well i have one that is specially for LWW, just search the internet
actually iI went to the store and they told me that it will arrive on saturday. that means there is screen guard that fits to lww
Try it and let me know many scratch ypu can put in it

[Q] FingerPrints on Backside of NeoV

Compared to other android phones , the backside of NeoV (Blue) is glossy and very shiny. This glossy thing makes NEoV prone to fingerprints and over a day of use it looks dirty... have to clean it very often..
Front panel i have Matt Finish Scratch guard so no problems there.
Any solution for this?? I basically dont want a TPU or gel based back covers.
Wash your hands.......

I'd love to have some sort of matte foil for the back.
Indeed wash your hands, and why you ask this weird question:s ??
Try antifat middle to clean it or try a middle wet tissue and dry it with a dry tissue, not so hard todo or something else, put ducktape on it, sorry for that, weird question is a weird answer

So @mpiekp, @Pandemic, @monil.verma You wash ur hand every time before using ur phone ... How dumb someone can get...
Wen is wrote backside gets dirty , i meant the fingerprints...
To make u ppl understand better let me give u an example- Try using ur NEOV (if u have one) without the scratch guard (and ofcourse after washing ur hands 10 times) Now do u see some finger prints on the screen?? YES same finger prints are at the backside too. No matter even if your hands are washed u will still get fingerprints on Screen... TEST IT.
If you guys have not understood, pls put a pile of mud onto ur phone and see how dirty it gets.. than wash ur hands and use neo
I expect a mature reply next time, or just PM me and we will take things offline

No I don't wash my hands every time I touch my phone,, but I'm not neurotic enough for fingerprints on a handheld device, with a touchscreen to bother me. Carry a cloth and screen cleaner with you or wear gloves.

its important to use screen protector on s3 ?

They say that the screen of s3 is can't b scratched is this true ...? So do I have to use the screen protector
The screen on the S3 is solid. There's a video of someone playing Fruit Ninja with a real knife on YouTube... the screen stayed intact.
Read the do i need a screen protester posts in accessories .
Yes they can be scratched .
jje
Ask yourself:
Would you whine and cry if you got a scratch on your screen?
If yes, then buy a screen protector.
If no, then go naked.
Me, I would definitely whine, so I bought a protector.
by the way, there is no 100% surface coverable screen protector available...
Due to the curve in the corners of the screen, full screen protector will not sit properely... so the edges (2mm) are not protected form the scraches...:crying:

Actually ZAGG Invisible Shield (It's on my Galaxy S3 at the moment) covers 99.9% of the phone. It's also a very durable screen protector that will last months.
Awww but they do scratch, and it would take something pretty hard to put a gouge in the screen but a knife, keys or any amount of things can easily put micro scratches in the Oleophobic coating and if you use in daylight it gets hard to see the screen.
I have a sp on mine. Just to be safe. I wish my shell would get here from amazon already! I've accumulated some scuff marks on the back cover somehow! greatest phone ever!

I got a scratch on mine just last night - no idea how, probably in my sleep, when the stupid LED light started flashing to tell me about an email, so I reached over and turned it face down. Not deep, and only 4/5mm long, but it's all I see now :crying:
How did my SGS2 screen go for 10 months without a *single* scratch, and this is a week old, and one already...

[Q] Oleophobic coating worn off? greasy screen too easily

Hi SGS2 people. Im in Australia and bought an i9100 a month or so after it launched, I've looked after mine well,no scratches, water damage, drops but for the past week it has been streaking up on the screen so frequently,I keep grabbing towels, using my shirt,a tissue etc to wipe oil off but normal skin oils are making coloured streak lines/shimmery patterns/blurry spots.
is it possible to wipe the coating off in time and are there ways to recoat without putting on screen protectors?

instead of taking the pain of searching for a recoat option, i would suggest u to put a good screen gaurd which can take care of ur screen for some months for sure
Happens all the time with people who have oily skin (like me )
Use a screen protector and you can keep wiping off the oil without worrying about the oleophobic layer...

Thanks for the responses guys, I should clarify, Im wondering if this is something that happens to the SGS2 screen over time,I do not have oily skin, this has only been happening for around 2 weeks and yep, I know a screen protector will remove the problem - its a build quality/usability question, has anyone else had this problem with their screen?

I have the same problem nowadays. When I bought my phone 3 months ago I can't remember having the need to wipe the screen ever. But now, everytime I touch the screen it leaves greasy, coloured lines and fingerprints behind. Annoying. I'm constantly wiping the screen with towels and my shirt, and it doesn't help (at least not for very long time). It has to have something to do with wearing. Is a screen protector the only solution?
