PDroid (Privacy app) patched for any rom - TouchPad Themes and Apps

Hey everybody.
I've been testing PDroid which in my opinion is better than LBE, because it gives me more control of my privacy.
It's very easy, just point the Windows version to your rom and it makes two patches, a new one and a restore.
Then flash with CWM.
Flash the PDroid v1.27 file with CWM.
After just download the app from the market.

[Q] Gingerbread

Hi All,
I'm new to modding my phone and recently flashed it with Cyanogenmod Froyo 2.2.
I want to flash it with Gingerbread but have seen that there are memory leak problems with Cyanogens.. In fact today they ave decided to pull support for the device.
What are my options for getting Gingerbread onto my Hero GSM??
I have seen Elelinux's mod highly spoke of, but it is based on Cyanogen mod (i think). Does it too have the same memory leaks??
Thanks in advance!
Cyanmod have Officially Ceased supporting the HTC HERO as they don't have a DEV supporting the Developement for the HERO
THE LAST Cyanmod for HERO is I Guess version 7.02 and thats it
Elelinux's Gingerbread is Based on the CM7 but He does his own tweaks as well you can always check the thread for what problems people are reporting for the ROM
There is another GIngerbread ROM by 'Cronos' which you could try, but you will have to google for it as I don't think I might get away with posting links here
google for 'cronos project'
I have used elelinux's Roms a lot so like his work but is personal choice and thats what XDA offers it members 'CHOICE'
Don't make assumptions about ROMS .
Try them yourself and stick to the one you like the best
in his latest version (2.0), elelinux included a special patch that has to be flashed separately after flashing the ROM, and on my Hero it reduced the amount of black screens and invisible menus by a great deal. They still show up every now and then, but only when doing memory-intensive stuff. Go check out the thread
Haven't tried Cronos yet, but they also get some good credit I believe.

[Q] What ROM and Kernel Sense 3.0

My son wants to mod his Thunderbolt, 2.2.1. and put on Sense 3.0
I personally have a Samsung Captivate and have got that working well but seems to be quite a bit different than the TB.
I haven't been able to find a clear path of exactly what needs to be done to get through getting a kernel and a mod. Does anyone know of a web page that gives step by step instructions to make this happen?
I also read several other posts on recommendations for which one to install but as he wants (he thinks) the Sense 3.0 does that limit the choices?
I dont understand...do you want instructions on creating your own ROM that uses sense 3.0? Or are you looking for something already made for you to use?
If its the latter there are sense 3.0 ROMs out there. Look in the development section and you can find them.
Here is the one that I use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153055
steps
The phone is off the shelf and nothing done to it. For the Samsung there are "Hack Packs" that basically help you download and install the mods and kernel.
I don't mind reading the directions, but I haven't been able to find a set of instructions that says what to do.
I assume I have to install a kernel. On the Samsumg its SpeedMod and that works good. What do I do on the HTC TB?
Then on the Samsung I download the ROM and from the SpeedMod I can install it. How do I do this on the HTC?
I guess somewhere in all of these postings there is someone that has step by step instructions, but I can't find them.
THANK YOU for any help!
In order to be able to mod your phone you will need to gain root access. Directions are here.
Then you can go ahead and search the site for the ROM that you want. A full listing is here.
Read the instructions, some ROMs require the MR2 or MR2.5 radios. The above link lists to those as well.
As for kernels, all ROMs come with a custom kernel included that will work with that ROM. If you want to try another kernel the above link lists them out as well.
Thank you very much!
You're going to want to use BAMF RC4. www.teambamf.com. Great stable Gingerbread Sense 3.0 ROM. Use the latest radio with this ROM.
Hi.
I'm a noob myself but you can find posts on how to root your phone. ( I did the easy way). http://www.droidforums.net/forum/thunderbolt-hacks/141936-auto-root-unroot-htc-thunderbolt.html
And i've flashed every rom out there for the thunderbolt. My favorite one by far is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110820
Its the fastest one, stable, reliable, great on battery. Its the best.
The developer is doing a great job fixing all the small issues.
As for now the only issue is the camcorder but he just posted that he fixed it.
Beside that it is just great.
Sense 3.0, Netflix, skype, talk....you name it....everything is there.
maybe you shouldn't start with this one.... I miss flashing new roms . now I really have no reason to do it.
This rom is the best!!!!
wow thanks for the extra info!

[Q] Best Rom for S II

I just wanted to know whats the best stock rom for S II. I am happy with the phone's performance on 2.3.3. I want every features of the stock rom better audio quality, google talk with video calls and atlast tad better battery life.
Well, i think the battery life is depend on individual settings, like 3G,Wifi,sync etc.
For me is Leomar75 Revolution the best Rom at the moment. It comes with a kitchen app that allows you to install themes, roms and kernels. i tried Skyrom, Criskelo and lightning. look in the thread from Leomar and then decide for yourself.
2.3.4 is almost knocking on the door, so no benefit to discuss about 2.3.3, still am using the KF3 for a month now, very stable and the best IMO.
Criskelo V10, Lighning 5,Skyrom 4.0 and LeoMar75 2.4 are based on the latest firmware XXKG6 Gingerbread 2.3.4, LeoMar is the only with FullWipe (Apps and Settings cleared)
The next official Stock Firmware with 2.3.4 will be roll out soon
As the first rom i would use litening rom, no root needed and it can ne flashed via odin. Comes with root and cwm. At the moment i like leomar rom most, his kitchen app is really cool and easy to use, for kernels rom updates themes and other stuff. Nearly every day updated .
You have to try.
the best roms are:
1 - samsung stock
2 - CM
3 - AOSP ports
Other roms bring next to nothing (couple of menu item tweaks and sound tweaks) but bugs and a skin. You've to realize that all the claims they make about speed or battery have no substance, there is nothing that is done toward those goals and 99% of them don't actually know what they're doing at all. Sad state of affairs if you ask me.
I have tried almost all the ROMs out here in XDA, except CyanogenMod. Out of all the ROMs that I tried, MIUI is the best in terms of User Experience and User Interface and above all the super fantastic battery life. Go and give it a try, you wont be disappointed. This is the REAL ROM, the MIUI guy has taken customization totally to a different level.
If you're a fan of stock with some few subtle additions try Darky2 KG6 ROM. I applied the ROM (No wipe), then applied the odexer zip and then a JKay theme and app from the themes section. Looks sweet and works perfectly
Cm (Cyanogenmod) is a very good rom, but not at this time and not if you using Kies. I am waiting for stable Version and will test it too
LeoMar is a very good rom. The kitchen app is very useful if you want to flash kernels, themes and if there is a new update you can flash it thru kitchen app.
CM7 Ftw! And of course for a full AOSP eperience, you can try AdamG's Oxygen!
I will be sticking to CM7 though, for me it's the best, fully customizable and full of tweaks.
Thank for guiding
I beleive I should try no wipe roms at first then I should try the full-wipe roms.

Dead links to old ROMs,or alternative ROMs suggestions

Hi!
I have recently bought a second hand Vibrant.
Seller had MIUI on it, which I didn't like, for a few reasons.
One was non working GPS.
So, I installed latest stable CM 7 , which I like, BUT, GPS doesn't
work with it too. As I understood, that is common problem with 2.3.3
based ROM and Vibrant.
So I started looking for 2.2 based ROM and faced the problem, that
most links for these are currently dead.
I have succeeded to download Toxic Crazy8 and few versions of bionic,
but my recovery (version 5.0.x.x) refuses to flash them, as they are
in "old format" .
So, long story short, I am still looking for a ROM that will make me happy,
and thus need your help .
My requirements are :
Deodexed ROM, so I can apply the RTL fix on it ( or with built in RTL support).
Working GPS
Good battery life
Not too slow
As new as possible ( may be 2.3.x if all the above apply)
Should include FFC mod support
with working download link .
So, your help, suggestions and advices (and download links) are welcome!
Thank you in advance!
First and for most I suggest the ICS Passion V11 rom ....but if you want to go back to the extremely stable roms among us you will have to flash an older clockwork something that can be done in clockwork mod. Many people suggest Project V it was a great rom, but most would say that you can't go wrong with the bionix roms. Again though ICS Passion V11 (4.0.3 based) is definitely a modern winner though.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
ICS PASSION.
Stable fast GPS works and its 4.0.3
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
If you want the newest, latest and greatest, the two posters above me nailed it. Passion is awesome and fairly stable.
But if you are wanting a 2.2 ROM, fisherman (I think that's his name) is updating Bionix and should have updated links.
ICS Passion
Thanks for all the replies!
Let's say that you've convinced me, and I am going to try the ICS Passion.
Few more questions regarding it though.
As I am totally not familiar with ICS, does it have RTL support?
I recall I have read somewhere it does , out of the box...
Does ICS Passion have support for FFC mod, or , specifically, will
I be able to have video chats on Skype or it's alternatives?
Thank you in advance!
Mulder check your PM box.
If you don't end up liking the ICS, there are these 2.2's that are solid builds and you can flash them with the CWR version in my signature.
Toxic8 (which you tried but with the linked recovery it should work-did for me)
Deranged9
Bionix
Bionix-Fishman redux
Trigger
Bi-winning
2.3's have battery and memory issues, so buyer beware.
Oh, and how good is ICS in terms of battery life?
I get 2 days out of her...

Pdroid/Opendroid

so does Viper Rom for ATT HOX+LTE work with using pdroid or opendroid?
i tried to no avail... really would like to know of an alternate program or solution to making this app work for my htc..
pls help?! thanks !!!!
awww. no help?
as long as pdroid isn't yet compatible with any OEM-skinned UI it won't work on any Sense ROM.... so try an AOSP ROM (like cyanogenmod or AOKP, ...) or ask the devs of your favoured ROM whether they can implement pdroid in their ROM or ask the devs related to pdroid whether it's possible to get pdroid running on your favoured ROM.
