[Q] MiniCM7-2.1.8 on X10 mini pro: Howto install apps to SD-card by default? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

What has to be done, that apps I download are installed to the SD card by default?
I installed some apps manually, some through the market, but they are always installed to the phone memory, and I have to manually move them to the SD card afterwards.

App2SD enabler

do I have to have "USB Debug Mode" enabled all the time when I am using app 2 sd enabler ? Or it was needed just during the launching of the enabler, thanks
hi, i use froxyo (JP9 at the moment), and app2sd is working just fine for me without any "magic" no other external app is needed to enable it.

but app2sd moves just few applications to SD card. With "Move2SD enabler" you can move ANY application to SD card.
And my question was that do I have to have "USB develop. mode" enabled all the time ?
How to move app?

I am using Titanium backup and its really a great application to move application from internal to SD card.
Try it, definitely works.
I need aplicaton for moving to make empty space, not for backup. For backup existing lot of aplications
Just try once u definately love this app. and don't go to its name.................It's not only for backup..it does lots of useful things...........
move2sd rox awsome app n its free
by usin move2sd can we move applications from internal memory to sd...?
ll it free up space?? i am using 2.1eclair
After rooting, I have tried move2sd enabler and then purchased Titanium backup pro. The option to force to sd will not work at all. I can only move apps which were already allowed to be moved2sd before I rooted... Very disappointing. Titanium Backup Pro version 3.7.5/ Samsung Galaxaxy S 4g

please delete all hidden folders on the sd card (they start with ".foldername")
of course make backup before.
you might need to redownload some apps then.
This is caused if you had apps in a previous version moved to sd.
how do i delete them if they are hidden???
thank you
The file explorer on the rom shows them or use root explorer. Or in windows set show all files (google how to show hidden folder on windows)

I am still gettin the same message that i dont have enough space on sd.
Should i format my sdcard?
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
First i would suggest to deinstall the apps which are already on sd. Then format sd card (make sure to only have 1 partition).
Then download from market and reinstall the apps. Then move to sd.
This is how i managed it.
(you can goto settings, applications, application administration and click on the sd tab and deinstall apps)

You have to download link2sd and go to settings and set install location to external. It works just like adb shell

Works with rooted android.

Download and install titanium backup pro from anywhere you like. Open the program and click on the options button of your phone and click on batch. You'll see a number of operations followed by a run button after each one. Scroll down and you'll see "move all user apps to SD card", click on run and you are done

Without partitioning the SD card, you will always have part of the apps on internal. With partitioning the SD card, you can move the entire apps to SD card.
I just went to gplay (marketplace) and got app2sd. Whether the phone is rooted or not you should be able to move the apps to the sdcard-ext, as long as there is enough room.

Yeah it helps in moving some apps to sd but it doesnt allows you to move all the app to sd. you may need to root you phone in order to move all apps to sd. when i used to use app2sd when i just started using android i used to have around 40 mb internal memory free inspite of moving all the apps that were possible to move on an unrooted phone to sd. I was then inspired to root my phone when i saw its possibilities

I am using link2sd and it works like a charm. I have not partitioned my sd card.
TRY THIS
If u have lucky patcher installed on ur device, the version should be 3.9.3, first of all, move ur app or game's data (the very known com.xyz.xxxxx folder) to extsd/android/data or obb by using filemanager , now create that folder with a same name in sdcard or internal sd/android/data or obb/here, which would be like com.xyz.xxxxxx, open lucky patcher v3.9.3 goto toolbox tap directory binder, remember it will not bind the whole sdcard or internal sd , it will work only for particular directory (folder), so no need to worry, now tap on add new directory bind, no tap browse the 1st one, and show it to the path of that extsd/android/data/com.xyz.xxxx folder after that select current directory, now go for browse the 2nd one, goto the internal path should be like sdcard/android/data or obb/com.xyz.xxxx select current directory, now tap on bind directory. thats it, it will save ur sdcrd space. u can check it by setting then storage, i successfully did it in my funbook infinity having 1.5gb internal space available, plays the amazing Spider-Man2 , the dark knight rises, and dead trigger.
I have a rooted but otherwise stock Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (SM-T705) and I have a 128GB Sandisk SD card. Is it possible to move all apps (with all their contents) to the SD card? I read that even though my device is rooted, I will need to partition my SD card first before i can move all apps (with all their contents) to the SD card? Can someone please tell me how to partition my SD card? Also, if I move all apps with all their contents to SD card, would the running of such apps encounter any problems (as part of them are supposed to be in the device internal memory?)
I tried Link2 SD and Titanium Backup Pro but I could not see any such function (only native Android app2sd).
Thank you very much in advance.

A weird problem with my sd card

Hi xdians,
I'm experiencing such a weird problem with my 8gb SD card I guess.
I download a music with mp3 format and I can listen it, but after 5 minutes I can not listen the music, its not recognizing the music, it can't open the music file.
When I download an apk from web I can install it immediately after the download has finished, but after 5 or more minutes I can't install the apk, it says ,, there is error parsing the package" also the icon from the apk is changed into android icon.
One more problem... when I move an app from internal memory to SD card I can open it and play it, but after 5 minutes or so after closing the app, I can not open it again, it instant force close when I'm opening. Also in settings on Manage Applications the icon on the app that has been moved to SD card is removed.
This are the problems I'm facing, every help/opinion is very apprecied.
Thanks a lot!

First of all, backup apps using Titanium backup. Secondly, Backup any data on your SD card to a computer. Format your SD card, restore data and see if that works.

You can still use apps in internal right?
You might have to replace your SD card.
But first Flash stock firmware.
Did this happen all of a sudden? Or did something happen.

Yes in internal I can use apps without any problem.
All of sudden I guess, I'm using custom miui rom with cm7 kernel.
And how do you mean replace my SD card? Use a new one or unmount>format>mount from stock rom?

Xt1528 - possible to install Google Play apps to sdcard?

Is it possible to install apps to your sd card?
At this point I'm unable to download larger apps (2gb+) due to the smallish internal memory of the phone. An example App is Icewind Dale, I'm able to get the apk and install it, but it will not download obb data to the sd card at all.
Thank you for any help!

Try link2sd. I can change the default install location but mine's rooted. Move as many of your other apps to SD as you can.

I don't think this is possible without a rooted phone. Oh well!

What I've observed is that some apps can be moved to SD and some can't. Being rooted and having link2sd helps, and link2sd will let you set the default install path to SD (with root). But some things like Chrome can't be moved. I think it has to do with hard-coded paths in some apps and not others. And then there's the Android 5+ nonsense about not using SD to promote the cloud. Might be worth looking into Ubuntu instead of Android. Sadly, Google is a company making decisions they think will maximize profit. Ubuntu doesn't have a vested interest.
2 gigs for one app, no way would I want such a thing unless I had a terabyte of internal memory. That's bloatware.
