[SOLVED] MMS not working after flashing Passion v12 - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone else had this problem or know a way to fix it? Also, when I try to send one it will give me a message saying "service not activated on network". I'm using galaxy s vibrant on US T-mobile.

Check your apn settings. For T-Mobile US:
MMS Proxy: 261.155.165.050
MMS Port: 8080
I had exact issue, this worked for me.
Sent from my DOC'S MASTER ICS Vibrant

Did you use the default T-Mobile US after flashing (the one with the password and username set) and then added the proxy?

Here are my setting...does it match yours?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium

It turned out to be a photo size limit issue. Apparently it was too large for MMS. I cropped out a picture to test that out and then it worked. I ended up switching to Hancent. Much better application. It does the auto resizing for u.

Sounds good. Ya I used default, cleared username and password and added port and proxy. Glad your up and going.

Unable to send MMS since going to Serendipity 8

HI,
I loaded Serendipity 8 and think it's great. Only issue is that I am unable to send MMS messages. I checked on the DEV forum and tried the fix with deleting the telephony.db, but that did not fix it for me.
Anyone have any suggestions. I use this MMS a lot.
Thanks
David
Did u wipe data and cache in recovery before flashing? If not I'd recommend it. I didn't have a problem with it.

Yes. I also just reflashed and same issue. Just sticks at sending and then eventually times out. I was just using this yesterday on stock with no issues.

How is this done?
Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Create a new APN, (assuming you have AT&T) then:
Name: MMSC
APN: Phone
MMSC: hhtp://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: mms
When done, press Menu > Save

Perfect. This fixed it. Thanks a million!!!
I've attempted all the suggestions above, as well as in the main thread, and no luck. The only thing I haven't tried is the one directly above--how would I push the unnamed mms .apk's to the system/app folder?
VERY new to the Android scene, but so far love the customization.
You would need to copy the two apk files to your phone. After that replace the current two files with these ones. I use root explorer file manager but I'm sure that many other will do just fine. Then restart your phone and you're all set.

Found a file manager, copied them over and reset phone. No noticeable changes, and most definitely can't send MMS. Unfortunate, as I really like S8 otherwise. Might have to try Unnamed though.

Heres my advice:
#1: Download CM7 on your computer
#2: extract MMS.APK from the app folder within the zip
#3: move that apk into your phone, and using root explorer, move it to your system/app folder. (back up your original apk first).
#4: make sure the permissions are correct.
#5: Enjoy perfect MMS messages that don't show up as pictures, and gain the opportunity to use black background and custom notifications settings.

I personally don't know how to explain this. In stock it works fine, switching to the UnNamed Rom worked fine, then with yours it just doesn't work. I shouldn't have to bring an apk or w/e from another Rom to Serendipity, and I shouldn't have to change APN or any other setting because I'm using a stock AT&T sim card. I'm not unlocked or anything so it should work. It, for some odd reason, does not work with your Rom...

First of all, not sure if I believe you're that attractive AND this much into tech, but more to the point.. I'm only taking a guess here, but you may have to flash the TMobile radio to get simple's 3G. I don't know much about simple but it looks like they have TMobile servers in the mms settings so it would make sense that their 3G is based on TMobile radios.

*EDIT* Your APN settings worked flawlessly. Every other APN settings I found on the internet (I've tried maybe 5 or 6 different versions, with different "APN Types", leaving some Proxies blank, etc.) made my data freeze. This one works flawlessly... thanks so much!
Thanks for the APN setting details!
Just wondering since there's not many people using the Xperia P on AT&T. Are you using the LT22i or the LT22a version? I have the LT22i and I keep on getting disconnected from the network, and a reboot becomes my only option to reconnect to the network (both calling and data). Pretty annoying, as it happens multiple times a day. Xperia Support told me that it's because my phone isn't made for the AT&T network, but the frequency bands match up so I'm not sure about what they say.

I thought your APN settings fixed it, but once a day (mostly at night) I get disconnected from the network and can't reconnect until I reboot. Oddly, my signal strength is frozen at full strength with the "H" (but no arrows going up or down).
Can I ask what firmware you have? I flashed my LT22i with a generic ICS rom from central europe. I don't know if that'll make any difference. If you have no problems, I'd just like to have basically the same exact phone as you, haha.
Thanks!!!!

I am using these settings, and it still doesn't do anything? Under the APNs, when it shoes the Phone settings, and ATT settings, are they both supposed to have a blue dot to the right of them? only the phone does. And for the ATT settings, The APN enable/disable is highlighted enabled, and not on the phone settings, does this have anything to do with it? Also is it supposed to be on the wcdma/gsm network, or just gsm netowrk? Thank you so much for the help!

You can either try the APN's I am listing below or just verify that the apns your using have some of the info I clouded in the one hour using. Also do you have a data connection ON at the time your sending it? MMS uses your data connection so it is possible it is not set up correctly. These are what I use. Just make TWO apns with what I have listed below. Once done check to make sure you get a data connection (AND THST YOJ SAVED THE APNS). Then reboot. Try sending a MMS. Let us know how it goes.

I have the data connection on all of the time i can recive text, and send photos, but am unable to send any text.

Were these the apns you wanted me to use?
APN#1
NAME: ATT HSPA+
APN: phone
MMS port: 80
APN TYPE: internet
APN#2
ATT MMS
APN: wap.cingular
USERNAME: [email protected]
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS PROXY: wireless.cingular.com
MMS PORT: 80
APN TYPE: mms
I created the apns listed above and rebooted and had to manauly pick the apn that i made, still did the samething.
I there a way you could give me the standard att offical apn?
If you went to avanced settings and set the radio to enable both: HSDPA and HSUPA, would that prevent you from sending text. if it does, what should it be set to?
The one listed wap.cingular is the STOCK ATT one as far as I know. So you can go to the apns, hit the menu button, then at the bottom you will see RESET TO DEFAULT. This will reset you to the stock APN and delete out any that you created.
But to me if you set the apns you listed above (not sure why I didn't post them correctly) then I would say you need to check with ATT because maybe they have it turned off on their end. My sons phone can receive text but not multimedia messages because I had it turned off purposely.

I Never found the apns you said you posted. I got those from another place. Could you send the apns you didn't post.

They are the exact same as you posted above. That is EXACTLY what apns I use. That is why I gave another suggestion about checking to make sure ATT hasn't turned off the capability of you using mms's or to reset the apns back to stock as I listed above.

when I used these apns i didn't get a signal from att.
it said on the status bar:
no internet connection.
I did exactly the way you said.
I have a 2GB plan, it has unlimited min. and texting.
OK one more try. Make sure everything in these screenshots are typed correctly. EXACTLY as it is, no mismatch of capital/lowercase or anything. I just added these, saved them, rebooted, then took screenshots. I sent myself a MMS pic which is the third pic posted.
I am in AOKP at this minute but I use the Same EXACT apns on CM10.

my mms is not working. i have restored cm10 to factory defaults and am on the default cm10 apn, i can send pics fine and recieve test fine, but when I send at text to any # the stock texting app it says: message not sent on the status bar. By the text message I tried to send it shows a red triangle with an ! in the center of it.

Okay you can see where my confusion was then. Thefe is another thread only a few post down right now with the same exact issue i believe. From what i have read there it is a issue with ATT. Check out that other thread for more info.

Proper AT&T DNA APN Settings?

What are the proper APN settings for AT&T? I cannot receive Picture Messaging. Can anyone help?
Though I don't have the APN, I'm fairly certain that you need to set up two APNs, one for data and one for MMS.

Yes I have.
I had the same issue. Tried every APN configuration I could find but could not get any to work. I finally broke down and got gosms and forced the apm thru the app settings. Work perfect now.

Let me see if I can break this down a little simpler.
1. Download goSMS from the play store.
2. Enter AT&T mms info into the app's settings.
3. Prosper.
Edit: credit to beaups for showing me this.
This is what I used to get my MMS and Data to work with AT&T:
AT&T APN Settings
Internet Settings
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: [Leave Blank]
Port: [Leave Blank]
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
These settings I put in goSMS [PlayStore] under MMS settings
MMS Settings
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
This works perfectly for me!
