OnSkreen by CornerStone now OPEN SOURCE! TRUE MULTITASKING! - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

A few months ago I heard about a company called CornerStone that was demoing TRUE multitasking on Android. It was pretty awesome. It allowed you to run up to 3 apps simultaneously on the screen and you could easily interact with each of them. Check out the video below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX8w3UZIjkc
Just when I thought this project was dead, they dropped a big bomb. Now OnSkreen (which was suppose to be reserved for big manufacturers to use) is now OPEN SOURCE! That means devs can bake this into their ROM and we, the users, can enjoy awesome multitasking capabilities! This is gonna be awesome! Can't wait to see where this goes.

Very nice! Can't wait to see this in a future prime ROM.

what if we modified one of the updates and trick the prime into thinking the modified source was an update? Im no developer but couldnt that work?

Wrong thread. Plus it won't work. Was already tried before n didn't work. Plus no matter how you modify it, prime will still view it as an older update.

No, it cannot. This mod needs deep integration into the android framework. It's not possible only with an apk.

how is it in the wrong thread if its directly relating and responding to OP? What if it were done to a new or current update (for instance, i still have not done the 13 update, insert it into there and update, the prime sees it as a newer update, i get mods working)

Exactly. Per a quote from the Cornerstone Facebook page:
Cornerstone
We've had a bunch of questions about this so wanted to clear it up. The technology behind Cornerstone has to be part of the Android OS itself. That is why we are working directly with device manufacturers to include Cornerstone with devices they plan to ship. Cornerstone is not an application that you will be able to download from the Android Market.

there is NO point in "updating" to this, its only the SOURCE for the kernel thats already installed on your streak, its useful so devs can compile different modules into the kernel to enable things like "Wifi tether for root users" other BlueZ enhancments, etc... obviously having the source makes it easier to port Froyo and Vanilla 2.1 builds. Once again, this doesn't pertain to you unless you are able to compile it yourself, if you have questions, well its probably not something that you need to even worry about.

If you guys have not had the chance to see what has been going on, check it out http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-now-official/ .
The total rehaul has a lot of to be excited about including the fact that the sdk is out and as I understand it, this will be released with it's source code for some sweet dev love.

Actually, there are plenty of working GB and HC roms. What made you think otherwise?
My understanding is that if the developers had the source code necessary for hardware acceleration, we would eventually have a fully working ICS rom. I think Viewsonic doesn't care enough to have someone work with nvidia to get the source code.
Once google releases ICS source code, we should have a usable ICS rom, at least

I'd be careful not to get too excited...this is very dependent on the few developers we still have, wanting to stick around even longer to try to get this to work. They might decide to move onto a different tablet also...

[Q] Bootdroid dual boot ios5 and droid for galaxy s2

It is a way of having a dual boot with ios5 and android

As said in the other thread, Im not sure whether its a fake rip off or a real one. Apple hasn't and wouldn't give source codes for their crap.
And erm, ios would just dirty my phone
Yes, im a fanboy
I am slightly convinced that if might be real, although as said on the blog he has run into some legal problems but thinks he might have found a way around this, I am a Droid fan but this is a show off feature that would be pretty cool.

Wow it would be really nice to have ios running on my SII. i love android, but showing the fanboys that our device can do both. It's priceless. keep up the good work
im interested in this project mostly because would be nice to test performance on the s2 but then you would run into issues like their retina display, apple would never allow it since there platform is copyright, but luckily this guy is named Anonymous
heres a pic from his blog

If he could create a script or program that could take an IPSW (Firmware file) and make it "android ready" for lack of a better term, he would be completely safe. As the user would be downloading the IPSW and supplying it not him. Also the IPSW are available freely on Apple's site so they couldn't come after the users at that point at all. He just has to find a way to do that (not going to be easy).
Also iOS source is available on apple's dev site for anyone to look at it. It's just mostly copywrited (besides the BSD portions). I'm not sure if all of it's there but I have looked at some of it in the past for hints to exploits for jailbreaking.

I have some development background, and from my knowledge of iOS and ARM Devices this would be quite a task if this is what he is doing.
I really want to believe this is real but I just found a link from github by someone called Peter42 who freshly uploaded a "BootDroid" code.
Last update to his blog dated 24 March is the same date the files were uploaded.
I have a Motorola Xoom and believe I can't test them.
Could anyone (for God's sake!) confirm whether they were real or not?
If possible, I already downloaded the files and would upload them for you in case original was removed.
this should be awesome, running ios in the powerfull SII... just for shutup the izombies xP
Even better, the upcoming Galaxy SIII!
But for real, can anyone try that?
I just ran the installation process on my Motorola Xoom and didn't notice any difference like a new app nor by or through restarting.
I'm kinda hyped up on this and would love to brag about how Android is superior to iOS if it was true

I don't really know if this was the link to the program or not though it's called the same.
But as I said before, these files were uploaded the day he last updated his post.
You can download it from there.
I don't really know how this should work since it doesn't even have iOS firmware files but I figured someone with a supported device could try and see for himself.
Nothing appeared on my Xoom at all which is not supported!
And, you can uninstall it from the same installation wizard.
Hi everybody !
Sorry for my english, I'm french.
I am really interested on this application, so I wonder if somebody has already succed in make it working ?
I' ve downloaded the Zip package on the website shared on the link below, but I don't understand how to instal it...
I think that even if it's possible to run iOs and Adroid on a Iphone, it woould be difficult to do the same on a androphone beacause iOs in not an open source system ...
Can somebody help me please ?

Any news on the co-star? A lot of them have been shipped.
Btw, can anyone give me the specs of the power supply? I'm interested mostly in the Voltage input range. Since I'm going to use it in EU I'd like to know if I need another power supply or I can hook it up to a wallplug adapter. Would be great if the input range is 110-240V.
The power supply takes 100-240v ~50-60Hz, max 0.6A
Super duper standard.
That's good news.
I hope that rooting and custom firmware development will start soon for the box.
Anyone able to figure out how to side load apps? Just got mine and noticed it's running firmware version 2.3.1.
Can anyone with one do me a favor? Can you see if you can export the OnLive APK that comes on it and send it to me somehow? I have the Sony GS7 which has the same processor but it doesn't come with OnLive, I was hoping I could sideload it.

I pulled the ge.tt file from my co-star using adb, it was in /data/app I don't know too much as to why the force closes would happen. I have had that happen for a lot of side loaded apps I thought should work also. Did you try rebooting it?
There might be some other files required for it to run, I'm not sure how to find out what they are though.

The thing that makes me sad is the Co-Star has a bonafide hack out there that's been demoned a few places. It's been out since release, but I have yet to see any updates on how to actually DO IT =(.
I wish someone would document how to hack it so at least others can take up the task of re-roming it if those who hacked it aren't willing.

you are confusing secretive with lacking in time. Some things don't get shared, because otherwise everyone bugs me about it, and the little time I do have for things ends up being eaten up by those people. Other things don't get shared because they are simply tests that may or may not even pan out.

no, they are not similar devices, they share a cpu/gpu combo, that is pretty much the end of it.
One question it always bug me. When canonical first started to talk about their project some people mention it would be like an app you download out of the market. But if a new kernel is needed, that's not possible, right? The pad would even need to be unlocked.

Most likely yes. Most users looking for Ubuntu are probably unlocked considering that usually flashing anything besides an update requires unlocking.

Canonical said no such thing, ubuntu-on-android is something entirely different to this, it works much like splashtop does on the atrix. They also never said that end users would be able to access it from the play store, it requires being integrated by OEMs.
