[Q] Reverting from IML74K.US_epad-9.4.2.13-20120203 - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Is there an easy way to revert back from the latest ASUS update released on 2/8/12?
This update jacked up Youtube and I can no longer see additional wi-fi hotspots.

Ok...so first off, no, you can't roll back. We don't have recovery yet, so no.
Secondly, I believe the youtube problem has been found to not be the result of the update, but on their server side.
As far as the remaining problem, not sure I can help you there without more info.

I have updated into us_epad-9.4.2.13 on my Asus and when it turn into stand by mode, it switch off itself, then I have to reboot.
Also, the life battery goes out in few hours.
Has anybody solution to downgrade to 11.1?
Regards,

I have the same issue as well.

[Q] Does the Razorclaw root still work?

The Razorclaw rooting method has been successful for a few of the "early" units obtained, but curious if those getting theirs now with the official release are still able to root.
For those that attempt, please indicate if this was before or after the OTA ...
Thanks
Has anyone tried this yet with their new Prime? Curious to see if it still works after the OTA. I'll have mine tomorrow to try but wanted to know if anyone did it already.
After the OTA...and Nope.. No workee for me.

Thanks for trying. At least I know now to apply root first before OTA and see what happens, maybe root will be held, even though I doubt it.

it might hold. I know, with my Atrix4g, it holds root after several hard resets. My Ota doesn't work so not too sure. Even after hard reset ota wont work. Must have deleted something essential that ota checks for. Thats why I will wait for Ics b4 .
Tried it post OTA and didn't work for me either. Should have applied the root first but I was impatient.
I have learn my lesson before. I have put a hold on the ota so far but haven't try to root yet. Waiting on more concrete way that Razorclaw v1.0.1 will work and wont brick it.
Man, we are really the early adopters.
No root pre-OTA either.
hey just the asus transformer prime is my first tablet but i am just wondering what is the point of rooting?? I am at a lost for this.
If you guys could be so kind to give me a brief summary.

I did the OTA without thinking and feel retarded about it... The number one reason I'd root at this point is to remove apps that I'll never use...
What will ICS bring
I want to know what ICS is going to do for the browser on the Prime.Scrolling & page rendering on some pages on my xoom was horrific. My friend comes along with his dang ipad & loaded & scrolled through the same web pages with ease.

why are you getting a replacement for?

I think you need to be at build 8.8.3.23 in order to root. I can't get to the demos at gamestop but I think might have been the build of the one I rooted. I have been asking if anybody that goes to gamestop to stop and see what the build is on the demo, but no one has done it so far.
It's a negative for me also. throws up an error: 256

I thought all gamestops had to send their demo units back to Asus in early December. The tablet store that I got my prime from no longer had it for some reason when I checked in mid December.
By the way, I tried to root my prime out of the box with Razorclaw, and it gave me an error. I doubt any of the gamestop models are rootable because they probably applied the fix when adding the games. I'm guessing that the only models that are rootable are the ones that were in the very first production batch that didn't have wifi issues and passed right through QA.

I rooted a gamestop demo the day it came into the store. I think i even saw it on the display when I went to pick mine up. If my schedule isn't hectic tomorrow, I'll probably go back there and check the build and see if the root is still on there. Was wondering if there was anything I can take from it (any folders/files/partitions) that would help get the root back on ours.

Why Can't ASUS Just Gives Us Back the .11 Firmware?

I rarely start new threads here on XDA, but I thought this topic was deserving of having its own thread.
Many of us who had perfectly working Primes have had our units seriously screwed up by ASUS' .13 firmware update. Whether it's the sleep of death, ridiculous battery drain, or both, many of our tablets have went from working great to being borderline useless. It's as if many of our Primes were sacrificed to fix a few other Primes that had freezing problems that we never had.
With that said, I don't see why we should have to wait for weeks while Asus works on a fix for their last "fix" that caused these problems in the first place, when there is a perfectly good firmware already written that works great for most users. Why can't ASUS just give us the option to go back to the .11 firmware while they continue working on newer firmware? Why is this so hard? Am I missing something?

I could be wrong, but as far as I can see, various firmware versions are available for download from the Asus website - at least, they are from the UK website (which includes US-centric firmware): http://uk.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_Prime_TF201/#download
<Checks>
Yup, the global Asus web site has them too. There are other resources other than just XDA Developers, you know! ;-)

Yes, but manual update will not allow you to downgrade firmware to an earlier version...
Crap! I'm in the same boat.
I would love to revert back to .11
Battery drain is just too much to ignore.
Revert Firmware
As much as I hate the battery drain at this point the Reboots and Sleep of Death ARE KILLING ME.
.11 had a Perfectly working Prime. WIFI, BT everything great (well GPS didn't work but expected that..) No reboots etc.. Loved my prime... Update to .13 Firmware and Have the sleep of death, random reboots... going on 10+ reboots in 10 hours since updating this morning...
This sucks.
Please Please PLEASE give me a way to revert to .11
Be patient and the roms will come...

To be honest at this point I just wish they would give us our money back this product is a bust too many quality control issues.
the only way you'll get your money back is if you bought it from asus directly, but if you bought it at a retail store, you have to go back to a retail store.
however, im sure you know you can send it to rma and you'll get back it back fixed in a few weeks. sorry
In theory if someone could figure out where misc_version was stored then maybe someone with more brains than me could write a script to change this to a lower version allowing downgrade.
I may be barking up the wrong tree of course.
I had issues after an earlier firmware upgrade and a factory reset fixed it. I suggest trying that before investigating returns, downgrades or RMA's.

This was the last straw for me. I'm stuck with the Prime, but I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER BUY ANOTHER ASUS PRODUCT EVER AGAIN. They're an awful, awful company.
Edit: Also, it's ridiculous to be expected to do a full reset after every OTA update, especially when Asus releases one every other week to try and fix problems they created with the previous OTA update.

it was tweaked to account for processor clock differences in the Primes experiencing ICS lockup issue unless they allow us to somehow roll back to 1.11 this isn't happening anytime soon.
Im with the thought of the factory reset and installing apps one at a time. Im updated to the latest nd havent had any issues save the youtube thing that started before the update. Ive had apps crash to home screen and either ditched them or reinstalled. No battery problems here. What I noted after the update was fewer app crashes, better (not stronger) wifi preformance and the noise line that was popping through the screen every now and then hasnt happened since. Im thinking a great deal of issues are apps that are not optomized with ICS.

Ah. Fair point.
When I took my TF201 to the Asus service centre here in Hong Kong (yes they are Asus, not a contractor) I asked if they could roll me back to Honeycomb. Their answer was cannot. Only at the factory!
They are keeping the bootloader secure.
Is .13 so bad? Some of us in eu with constant reboots can't wait.

[Q] New prime died in 3 days?

hey everyone, i just bought a transformer prime from staples.com 3 days ago and now it mysteriously won't turn on anymore?
I was using it fine and set it down, then tried to use it again and it just wont turn on, I know for a fact that the battery is 100% charged.
My question is should i go through ASUS and RMA it or just send it back to staples.com?
thanks in advance.

other than those issues, its a great tablet.

[Q] received gps dongle today but where is the software?

Anybody want to share the software upgrade?
The dongle is useless by itself
There was a forced over the air update that went to all primes last Thursday. You should of gotten it already. If not, just check for new updates
I don't think I have that? Is there a version change to firmware or is it an application?
*facepalm*
Settings > About tablet > System Update.
You havent unlocked your bootloader right? Nor rooted your device and changed system files or deleted stock rom files? Only check for updates when you meet the conditions above.
Not unlocked but rooted and it says no update.
I'm on. 21 firmware, what version should I look for?
..lmfao
You won't see any change to firmware. If your device can still receive updates, you already have it. There is no software to look for. Just attach and lock GPS dongle to prime. Then go into settings then location and cut on GPS. You can cut off those other location services and cut off wifi. You can even do a fresh reboot before you attach dongle for a bare bones GPS test. Use GPS test or GPS status test to test it out. When the dongle is attached to prime and GPS is on, it'll work automatically. No special software or program to use it. When its attached, the dongle GPS overrides the internal chip one.
Once again,THERE IS NOTHING TO LOOK FOR. IT WORKS AUTOMATICALLY

My device absolutely should take OTA updates.
However, I did not see an update from last week and there is not firmware changes.
The GPS dongle only says to install the dongle and get a software upgrade. How do I know exactly whether or not I have an upgrade?
I also just got a C3 sn prime and I don't see any software update aside from. 21... this is a tremendous fail on Asus part because I expect to get a taskbar notification or a dot revision upward for any type of software upgrade.
Lastly, cutting off GPS from setting doesn't work. Nothing happens.

Nooo...lol. all you need to know is that if you have the latest ICS update, which is .21, then you good. Nothing else is needed nor is there any firmware change to see.
Just plug the dang thing up to prime and cut GPS on and it'll work..lmfao. just kidding but that's really all you have to do. Just make to sure to lock dongle to prime and have wifi off if you want to see how well the GPS works by itself. Like I said before, when dongle is attached to prime, and you cut on GPS, the prime will automatically use the GPS in the dongle. There won't be nothing to see or whatever to let you know dongle is being used instead. Prime already has latest change to make dongle override the internal GPS.
Or just follow the included instructions or in the PDF manual. Its really not complicated at all. Very simple. Just plug it up to prime and cut GPS on. If you already on .21 then don't worry anymore about the software. It'll work automatically. You making it more complicated than it really is.
I was the one who had one first and did the Gps dongle test thread several days ago. So I know how it operates. Any other questions just ask here or send me a pm.
There is no PDF manual...the shipment is just a plastic thing with 2 lines on the sticker as instruction.
I got the. 21 ota update a month ago not last week...so I'm not sure if I have the gps dongle update or not...
Does anyone not see the implication of Asus pushing an update without any notification or dot revision?

Just forget about the pushed update. I should've never mentioned that in my thread as now people are getting it confused.
This is the last thing I can say to help, IF YOU ALREADY ON .21 UPDATE, THEN DONT WORRY. YOUR PRIME WILL AUTOMATICALLY SUPPORT THE DONGLE. You can read the manual in my GPS dongle test thread. You keep worrying about the pushed firmware but there is no need to worry about it. All you need is to be on .21. That's it. If you are, then just plug upbdongle and cut on GPS.
Why make this complicated when its the exact opposite.
I will update my thread to clear confusion up. People worrying to much about seeing a change in firmware when there is none to be seen. It was just an addition pushed to
21. There is no physical proof or oindicator to show that. If you on. 21 update, then forget about everything else....sheesh..lol

Yeah, but what about the FW update I need?
I don't have the dongle yet, but I need to get that FW update from last week, or else mine won't work. Why doesn't Asus explain how to get the software? I need the software?
Do YOU have the software? Can you give me the software, or tell me where can I get the software? I just want to know that when I get it I will be able to get the software.
Where oh where is the dot upgrade software?
Cause, if I understand you correctly, it won't work without the upgrade to firmware with software, right?

Actually I think this is very very SUBTLE sarcasm
Sorry folks,
I think the confusion stems from the first reply where it says a force update was pushed to our devices last week.
I didn't notice any update from last week at all, the .21 update was pushed a month ago.
If Asus did push an update without reving up the FW revision number or providing a notification, then there is a serious concern from me as an end user because there will be no traceability to what is actually done to my device which I purchased.
So, in a nut shell, the confusion stems from someone saying the update was pushed last week...

Hi everyone,

No mention from Sony of the unwanted powering off issues.

Powering Off Issue
Had the issue where it would shut down and sent it to Sony Support. They have since sent it back "fixed". I can't say if it's gone or not because I still need to pick it up from the post office. They said that it was a software problem and they fixed it (as well as replace the back cover). Will let you all know if it's gone. Perhaps hidden in the release 6a update is the fix for this?

I sent my Xperia Tablet S in for the same reason, all they did was replace the back panel, they claimed there were no software problems, but they have me unconvinced. It still shuts off randomly, mostly while watching something on the YouTube app. The update seemed to only have fixed the wifi disconnects, and VPN issues. I think it's something in the firmware that Sony needs to fix before the shut down problem will be fixed.
