[Q] Acer Liquid Mini E310 - Ice Cream Sandwich ROM - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings Everyone;
I've been searching everywhere for the so much wanted ROM "Ice Cream Sandwich" for Acer Liquid Mini E310 (unfortunly without luck so far).
To all of you that own this device; I'm adding some info, so you can save some time searching for it...
As said somewhere in the web; "the Ice Cream Sandwich will be availiable for every android device; and will probably be; the main Android OS".
The only questions are: Will it be released for ACER devices? Will it be compatible for all ACER smartphones?
Well that is a question to be answered...
I searched Google and ACER website; and so far seems like there are only availiable the Froyo 2.2 and Gingerbread 2.3.
I've sent an e-mail to ACER Suport; asking if "ICS" ("Ice Cream Sandwich") will be released and if it is compatible with this device.
(I'm still waiting for the answer; i will update this thread when i get some news)
Either ways I'm pretty sure that it is compatible; but by some reason that is unknown to me; there are no current running Projects (From ACER or Developers) going on.
If anyone's cooking this ROM; i guess we (Acer Liquid Mini E310 Owners) would be glad to hear about it; and test it.
Thanks in advance.

Greetings everyone;
As promised i'm giving you the info about the ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) ROM; received from ACER Support.
Unfortunly i don't have good news.
Happens that ACER doesn't make the ROM's.
As told by ACER (Translated from Portuguese to English):
"Dear costumer;
We don't have information about that ROM.
Unfortunly we don't test the ROM's; neither verify them (even the ROM/Program Settings); due to it's made from a third party.
We're sorry that we can't give you a feedback."
After searching (Google) i found out that it's not the ACER (or any other Trademark) that develops the ROM; but the 84 consortium firms "Open Handset Alliance (OHA)".
As explained in WikiPedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_(operating_system)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Handset_Alliance#cite_note-0
The thing is i don't know who is exaclty the ROM Maker for this device.
All i know is that this ROM was originally made for "bigger" Android devices (Like Samsung Galaxy Tab).
Although the info i've got from every here and there on the internet it that; this ROM will be availiable for almost every android device.
Also; (as you can search as well) this ROM is availiable for some Smartphones... But not yet (i wonder why) for this equipment.
According to AndroidMemo; this device is probably ICS Capable; so i guess we have to wait for it.

Best Regards;
P.S - Admins; i just found that i misplaced this thread. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience.

As many of you (owners of a Acer C4 Liquid Mini E310), i'm as well quite disapointed for not having news about the ICS release.
As well as not seeing people helping or giving tips; etc for this device.
Specially here on XDA. (Quite annoying that this device doesn't even appear on the list)
Either ways i'm not complaining or something. I Love XDA Developers. I've learned a lot and will always be faithfull.
Although; (Hope XDA doesn't get mad at me for posting this... ), i found a custom ROM under developing, from MoDaCo.
Remember: before you test it or use it; remember that if you don't have any knowledge in switching ROM's, Testing them; etc... You may get your device bricked.
So proceed on your own will.
For now i'll read the entire thread and see how compatible and usable (for daily use) it is. And only then i'll test it.
Here's the link for the thread and ROM:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/350156-rom-devs-cm9-ice-cream-sandwich-40-to-our-liquid/page__st__300
By the way; if anyone is a developer. I believe they could use some help.
Best Regards;

Sorry, I didn't understand exactly.
An ICS rom couldn't exist ?

Thanks for your work
Hey, I m' one of the owner of Acer e310 ..
Firstly I upgraded from 2.2 to 2.3 simply as every one did ..
But M' completely dissatisfied with 2.3 version with its ugly look
since our Mob supports 512 Ram guess we may install ICS ..
Please update with some info .. I am waiting seriously here ..
Thanks

The new link is : http://android.modaco.com/topic/352180-cm9-cyanogenmod-9-for-liquida1liquide/
But it's only for Liquid / Liquid E...
The Liquid E has 512 Mo RAM, maybe someone who doesn't like his Liquid Mini could try to flash it on his phone ?

Forget about ICS.
Unless you are willing to do it your own.
Greetings;
Try this Rom:
Instructions bellow:
- Enter ClockWorkMod Recovery
(or flash a version for your device if you dont have it)
- Download Sherpya Rom and copy the *.zip file to your SDCard.
- Reboot your device under CWM
- Select:
- Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
- Erase Cache (on the 1st menu)
- Advanced > Mounts and Storage > Format "Boot"; "Cache" and "System".
- Go back to the 1st Menu
- Install *.zip from SDCard
- Select the Sherpya Rom zip file.
- Let it complete.
- Done.
Now you have the best rom ever for that device.
With:
- Custom kernel (ext4 supported)
- Everything Working.
- Already Rooted
Please press thanks if it helped you. This will keep me motivated to help and continue to give support for Acer Liquid Mini e310.

Request to upgrade ICS (Android 4.0) for Gen 8

Recently more and more Android developer start to developping and propose to upgrade their OS from old Froyo (Android 2.2/2.3 ) to Android 4.0 (ICS)system, even though low level 600MHz CPU/256Mb RAM Android phone
(ex. Huawei U8150 ) :
Refer to beneath thread of their activities:
1. Port ICS transition animations on EVERY ROM & EVERY PHONE Thread
( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342117 )
2. [Huawei U8150] Ice Cream Sandwich AOSP Alpha 3 WIFI+SD WORKS
: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366404
I hope someone of our Archos developer also can consider to develop Android 4.0 (ICS)system for Gen 8 ASAP
well the answer is easy:
and if u would have spend some time in this forum - reading - u would have it already...
Atm we got 3 main developers for our archos devices: sauron/bubu/divx
Since sauron will stick to his UD for a while as it seems hes out of the race atm
The other 2 are wokring on CM7 (-> Ginger) atm.
Even they are doing a great job we still dont have a fully bug free and installable CM7 yet...
CM9 (-> ICS) is in a very early development stage (as u already can see in any other android forum here - mostly alpha builds with barely functionality) so it's kinda meanless to switch over to it atm - since we dont have enough developers for it.
Once CM7 is fully working I think bubu/divx will head on to CM9 ofc (if they still own an archos then )
Even I know u just had good intensions - I think those [Request] threads are meanless most time - as they won't "help" anyone sadly.
Imho: if u want to contribute and take the development a step further or want to help them - join the Cyanogen Bull RC development discussions and help out with bug-reports or anything else u can do...

Hello FrEcP:
Thanks for your update informations.
Sorry!I do not know how to develope Linux or Android OS and just a Android system user
However I always keep watch the new OS improvement and contribute my testing result to developer all the time and wish Archos Gen8 could be better
performace than before!!
ICS Port to our gn8 started!
letama, made an alpha version of an ICS Port for our devices
Look: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404492
Currently the only thing that seems to run is the touchscreen (Actually the launcher is pretty smooth)! And it's booting of course
nice to see progresses in ics development for ics!!

Who is Letama

Just for the fun
http://translate.google.com/transla...ation-de-le-tama-the-king-of-the-rom/&act=url
Nice
Anybody knows why google translates "firmware" to "shower"?
Nice, now we know a bit more of the guru
God, Google translation is awful
Here is my approximate translation of cajl interview:
1) Le Tama, master of archos roms, present yourself
I fall into computers when I was very young (11 year old, no personal computer at this time, I start programming on paper with a book ) and since then virus never left me. I'm 42, I'm technical director of a small software development company. As my current job don't give me much occasion to dig into code, I'm pursuing my passion as a leisure, and especially on Archos tablet these days.
2) Why Android ?
I came to Android with my HTC HD2. At that time, Android just started to show some great potential and Windows Mobile was getting old. I started to follow HD2 development efforts on Android. It was stuck on a kernel problem, it pushed me to start looking into linux kernel source code. I then took part of the desire kernel port to HD2 with Cotulla and the others and I also participated to the first Android release working on HD2.
3) Why Archos
I started looking at Archos when Google annonced ICS and annonced that they will be using Omap as reference platform. I always wanted to have a look at omap (too much qualcomm with hd2 ), so I started to look for a platform that would let me play with it without being too costly. That's why I naturally came to Archos. I started toying with my co-worker A70 and then purchased my A101G9.
The more I work on Archos, the more I like the "openness" of the platform. Gen8 bootloader is easy to crack, gen9 bootloaders are not even locked. Better, Archos thinks about us, hackers, by letting entry points like SDE, a reserved partition on gen9,...
4) By the way, what's the purpose of rooting ?
Ah! What's the purpose of root:
From a developer point of view, to give complete access to resources. With root, we can do a complete dump of disk and partitions to study firmware, install things we couldn't do without, like SDE for Gen9. It's the first necessary step to modify stock firmware. It's also mandatory if you want to do some specific operations like partitioning.
From an user point of view, it let you use application that demands root. My favorites are:
- Busybox
- Root Explorer
- Titanium backup
- Chainfire 3D
And I certainly forgot some. Just looking at market, we see thousands of applications that requires root to work.
5) Easy or not easy to find exploits ?
No, not easy with a well-made firmware. Except big mistake from manufacturer, exploits (weakness abused to obtain a temporary root) are fixed after discovery, and it's getting more and more difficult to find new weaknesses. Thankfully, our current exploit is not fixed, crossing finger.
6) What are you currently working on ?
I'm working a bit on too many fronts and not enough free time, but here is what I'm working on:
- Internal disk partitioning for g9 to let us install sde firmware on a separated native ext4 partition, without interfering with stock firmware and internal storage. It works on mine, I'm working on way to do it simply and safely to let everyone benefit from it.
- Clockworkmod Recovery. It also works on mine, but is only useful if tablet has been partitioned. It let us do complete backups, rom+apps+internal storage (nandroid backup), it let us use zips to install firmware and firmware updates, and it make our tablet feels more "android native".
- CM9: I built one for gen9 that worked not too badly, but there is a lot of work to get something completely functional.
- I also launched a first overclocked kernel for 1.0Ghz Gen9, stable on mine up to 1.2, almost at 1.3. I will have to work on this again when Archos will release a new firmware that fix current ICS problems.
- I'm working on the IT2, I activated SDE and I have a rooted firmware. I will try to port 3.0 kernel and ICS on it.
- I'd like to work on bootloader too, but this is another story...
7 How can we help ?
Explain my boss that I have to stop working on his projects! More seriously, I'll certainly need beta-testers that are willing to take risks for their tablets with partitioning, but I'm not there yet.
8 Why this nickname ?
Le Tama ? This is a wink to my wife! Sshhh!
9 Anything more ?
Nah, enough talk, back to work!

Naaaah, it's pretty funny (I had no idea that Gen9 has a shower onboard)

Oh my god! This is by far that feature that I am missing most on my G9. I hope this dream comes true one day.
letama is great!!!

[Q] Another Phone's ICS ROM (Tegra 2)

Dear Gods and Mortals,
I've just joined XDA a few minutes ago, and am about to post for the very first time.. Please be gentle to a certified n00b..
Anyway, I've learned a lot reading articles here in XDA, and I think it's time I give back, and hope my 3 cents worth would be of any help..
I'm using an Atrix MB861, and just like you guys, am frustrated with Motorola for not sharing ice cream with us..
I have also read that the ICS ROMs of Samsung Galaxy R i9103 and LG Optimus 2x are not useful in the effort of improving ICS and JB efforts for the Atrix.
After sifting through some Chinese websites, I've come across ZTE U970 (Mimosa, Grand), which may have similar specs with the Atrix. Maybe some dev can try disassembling it for some usable kernels or whatchoo-choos.
They have posted on their website a JB/ICS ROM update. (Sorry, as a n00b cannot post links)
So, is it of any use? I really someone checks it out whether it's legit.
Thank you for your time and for bearing with a n00b post.:silly:
doqmyk
PS: presently using epinter's (THANK YOU:good CM10.1.. fast, stable, very usable.. just no mic and poor cam.
PS2: Also, can anyone tell me how to click the so-called "ThankYou" button? I use IE10 and FF Beta, but I see no "Thank You button"..
This has already been discussed, the only kernel that passed the tests to run on the Atrix was the kernel of the Galaxy R that is currently being ported by our devs.
Hi,
I have localy almost all tegra2 devices kernels. Also ZTE Grand's one. I'm using them as reference. ZTE uses same method of lcd panel init, LG has similar method of tegrapart use (mmc partition offset), Xooms has similar (older) PMU. Each one is helpful, yet none is compatible enough to be used on it's own. Since getting JTAG uart we can work on any kernel, so galaxy/xoom only kernel is no longer valid (just for clarification).
If you check the website download, they have the NEW TEST ROM 4.1 JB version. As I reviewed the old XDA posts, it only points to the old 4.0 stock ROM with 2.6 kernel, NOT the new Test ROM.
Maybe we can download the NEW 4.1 ROM and see if we can analyze it for stuff we can use or modify, as Atrix and U970 comes from the same AP20/AP25 Tegra2 Family. Who knows, they might have a working 3.x kernel on their NEW test ROM..
Still hoping ang believing...
Reading the much older posts (Aug 2012), many (readers, not the Devs) seem to shoot down the idea of using the built-in drivers in these ROMS without actually trying to crack or use it first.. Better try NOW, as Moto ICS upgrade is a dream. Now, because it's a matter of principle. Now, because the longer the time, the more new powerful cheaper phones arrive to distract us away from our principles..:crying:
Anyway, enough of the yada-yada. If anyone is interested in the latest Jelly Bean ROM of U970 (Nov 29 2012), and the latest updated ICS ROM of Hisense T96 (Sept 2012), here they are:

[Q] [q] Best version for mediapad 30x

Hi everyone, after seeing a mammoth 6 to 8 new downloads, can anyone give the best advice and experience:
1. Which is their favourite
2. What does not work in 1 above
3. In the most recent versions bluetooth does not work, can we therefore save the relevant libs-etc-files from a working version, and replace them
4. Does anyone still have the old HWMOD overclocked version, to use as base before trying 1 above
5, Although this has been asked before, how can we repartion the ex SDCard successfully on 301.
Unfortunately I cant post on the developer threads, but I do assure you I have read all of them - approx 750 threads including androidiani.
Many thanks and kind regards to all, and moreso to those who can clarify the above!!!!
:highfive:
To add more to the only debate on this issue, Q_ and A.
Ok We have around 201309 10.1 or 10.2 around the same date the CM version , there is a KitKat release and AOKP.
Saw the thread with a lot of replies concerning the CM 10.1 release and " who likes it". B.T. working, HDMI issues etc etc.
However , given that many , posters seemed to appreciate the 10.1 version , nearly all could not post on the developer thread due to min 10 posting restriction.
So here I am again, asking , which of the original ROM´s, and new ICS, JB or KK versions are the most appropriate for this Mediapad 301 as far as anyone has experience.
The last entry on After_Silence V 10.1 General thread, seems to suggest that CM10.1 201309 is probably the best bet so far, however the KitKat or CM10.2 OR Evervolv, may have evolved since then, anyone any ideas.
Furthermore , given that CM10.1 offers /data/media does this mean I can actually use my Ext. sdcard, instead of filling my measly 5GB sdcard
Any help most appreciated, including any other tips on other versions specific to the Mediapad 301xxx

rk3026 Custom Rom

Hi
Welcome to what im hoping will become a popular project amongst owners of Rockchip devices. Over at rkDroid we are aiming to create the first custom rom for the rk3026.
We really are starting at the bottom with this one as there is so little info available about these devices. The aim will be a 2 stage project :
Stage 1 : Cooked stock rom
Stage 2 : KitKat
We want to get as many people involved as we can. This means addressing ALL levels of skill. This is why there are 2 stages.
Stage 1 :The 'cooked rom' - This will be for beginners to contribute to. It could be themes, app suggestions, tweaks, etc. They all go into a custom rom and no one is better than another. Anyone can get involved, even if they dont have a Rockchip device. Icons, Themes, etc. They ALL count.
Stage 2 :'KitKat' - I have the source for the kernel and Android build for KK on the 3026. This means we can (in theory) build KK for it. Rockchip released a press release a few months ago saying the 3188 & 3026 WILL get KK. So far the 3026 has been lacking in this. rkDroid aims to bridge that gap and get a KK build out there for these devices. Im no pro when it comes to building Android or kernels. Ive done a few but im in no way a 'guru'. Im also not stupid. This stage of the project WILL require people with some knowledge of building Android, etc.
Overall, the aim of rkDroid is to bring Rockchip device users together to share info, solve problems, build roms, etc. Our site aims to be a popular resource for Rockchip tablets (No TV sticks or Mini PCs yet, sorry guys).
We dont only support the rk3026, We also have info/roms/etc for the other Rockchip devices like the rk3066, rk3188, etc. We will be aiming to create roms for these too once we get more support.
The bottom line is that if you own a Rockchip device and want to be involved in creating a custom rom for it then get involved with us. Whatever level you are at you can have an input in this project and we welcome everyone. n00b or bo$$, its all the same to us, There is a place for everyone at rkDroid.
Let us know if your interested in this project and lets see if we can beat Rockchip by getting our own KK build out before them
did this rom can change size storage sytem
in fact on rk3026 MD706B tablet 8GO/1Go
we have
1 Go for system
1Go for internal sotage
and 5.6 for internat SD : nand flash
can we use 1 giga from those 5.6 to add them to internal storage like on samsung 16g tablket hey have 3G for internal storage
