[Q] Atrix Laptop Dock - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I recently purchased an Atrix off CL to use with the new straight talk BYOD plan. I know I can find a cheap laptop dock off CL or ebay or what not and I know it's limitations but my question is:
Since I have to change the data settings and all that, will the dock work without it knowing it has to tether or however it acts when connect to do the dock? I don't know the behavior of the dock fully or what it asks and I haven't seen anyone ask a question just like this. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

When you conect to the lapdock it checks for data plan (assuming your wifi is off)
If your wifi is on however it just starts normally and you can browse and do whatever you want.(on wifi only)
There is a way to get it to work with cellular data without having to get a bigger data plan but I haven't personally tried this method but I'll send you the link.
As for buying the lapdock heres a good site to go to :
try this site all4cellular they have refurbished lapdocks for $100 and new ones for retail price.I bought a refurb and its got no issues

Thanks a lot, that's a much easier way to get around it than I found.
Also, thanks for the site too, the refurbs are up to 130 there which is about the same I saw on ebay. Have a good day!

Looking For internal UMTS antenna cable

Hey everyone.
I bought a used, broken G1 off ebay and now that I've gotten it rooted & booted I've found that I am missing the longer (80mm) internal antenna cable that connects the motherboard to the UMTS antenna pcb. Without this cable there is no cell service to the phone so right now its pretty much a PDA and I'm carying around my old phone and my G1.
Since I know there are probably a bunch of users on this forum with broken G1's being kept for parts I thought I'd ask if there is anyone willing to part with one of those cables?
I'm in the US (San Diego, CA) and I'll gladly pay any reasonable shipping and "handling" costs...
Thanks.
You're best bet would be to find a broken one on ebay probably.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for but it's a GREAT resource to have for your phone.

dang im looking for this wire also.... let me know if you find where to get one.... i'll let you know if i find a place also.
Anyone ever manage to find one of these ?

Want to sell HTC Inspire for Atrix

Hello all,
Had a question I couldn't find the answer to. What if my girlfriend sold her Inspire to buy an Atrix?
Let's say she sells it and doesn't have enough money to buy the Atrix right away off contract and has to use a Motorola RAZR for a while. A few questions need answering:
1) Can we call AT&T and have them change our plan to non-smartphone?
2) Are they going to ask for the new phone's IMEI and allow the Inspire to be
activated under the buyer's account without any issue or do I have to let them know it's going to be sold to someone else?
3) Is it possible to get scammed buying a 2nd-hand phone that's been marked as lost or stolen and not being able to activate it?
4) If she got an unlocked, non-branded Atrix or any other smartphone will she be able to use the internet on the non-smartphone data plan without AT&T crying foul?
Thanks for your comments and help.

1) dont rellay have to ..at&t will scan the imei and see you are using a non-smartphone plan and give you ( i believe ) medianet plan..
2) yes, at&t will allow that inspire to be used by another account ( new owner)..doesnt matter.
3) ?
4)again, as soon as that new smartphone is being used under your account..its only a matter of time before at&t scans your imei and sees you're using a "smartphone" ..and youll be upgraded to a smartphone plan.
Thanks for the help with the other questions, but to help explain the third question:
#3 tends to be an issue on Sprint/Verizon, where the ESN can be good or bad. Say the phone is marked as stolen, or you cancelled your account and didn't pay the ETF, you can't take that phone off your account and activate it again. It's blocked. I actually am trying to sell an Epic and Evo and had to find out for sure if everything was in the clear before trying to eBay them.
TL: DR Phone with bad ESN means you end up with an expensive PMP.

now i understand. yes you are correct..thats what stinks with sprint/verizon...someone may correct me if im wrong but..once those phones are marked as stolen/not paid...the ESN is bad. only then..to get that cell working again is to have it flashed to a 3rd party cell provider. here in san antonio, TX..we have a 3rd party cell provider..Cricket.

WIFI Only?

I have play with this tablet and I am in love' but the 4G price is a little heartbreaker.
I had a Galaxy Tab 7" even hacked to make calls and I only put the sim in it only when I dont have more battery on my android, because I always use my phone as a router.
Any way, I have search, but I cant find any info about a wifi only model, does any one have any info about that?
I am sure the price of that one will be more accessible for users like me, if not news soon I am afraid that I will be hitting Best Buy, charge it to my card and pay it on 18 month with no interest, cause I really like it.
i wanna get this but in wifi only

[Q] Sub $60 Android Phone

Greetings.
Question. I have a friend looking to get a cheap android phone to run a couple apps on a pre-paid network (sprint compatable one called kroger iwireless).
I saw two of them that they sell, but they are running Android 2 and im not sure the apps she wants would run on them. Is there a better phone that we are missing out there that she could use, or a better one thats become cheap enough that can be converted? Or does anyone have better ideas?
Shes trying to do this on the cheap.

LOPURS Dual SIM Adapter

After watching a bunch of Youtube video's, reading a bunch of articles and websites, etc about these adapters, I ordered one that is LTE compatible, and simply adds one more SIM to your phone. The app to change SIMS comes with the adapter as well.
Does anyone have any experience with these here? I'd like to hear peoples opinions and reactions to them, good or bad.
The reason I want one:
T-mobile has horrible service in my area, but has WIFI calling and works approximately 1/8 of the places I frequent.
AT&T is my Main carrier, as they have the best GSM service in my area, none of which are available where I live. Verizon is the only carrier that I can get at my house and I refuse to use them.
So, because I currently have a T-mobile Prepaid and AT&T Prepaid accounts active on two phones, I would like to use them both on my Note 3, primarily because my Note 3 has WIFI calling (HyperDrive T-Mobile ROM).
My plan is to use AT&T 95% of the time, but while home, switch to TMO and WIFI calling and forward my AT&T number to it. Sounds pretty in depth, but one phone is for work, the other is mine and I have to have them both anyhow. I mine as well make the best of it and not carry two phones as well. This way I can also USE my phone while home, because if you have ever used WIFI calling from TMO, you know it rocks
Thank you
Would like to know about this as well.
Also curious if it could be squeezed into a ZeroLemon battery case or not.

By looking at the picture on amazon, I'd say that it looks like it will. It's being shipped from china, so when it gets here, I'll post the dimensions and install it with my ZL case/battery and let you know.
OK so I received this today. I immediately installed it, which was easy enough. You simply slide this adapter under your simcard while pushing it into your phones SIM slot.
My biggest concern was if it would work with LTE service, since most I found on line would not guarantee. Well, it works with LTE on AT&T and TMO just fine for me. When you install this adapter and boot up, the adapter installs an apk called SimTools.
This is the app that allows you to switch SIMs and it works well also, but I have noticed that for it to work perfect, you need to reboot after each switch or it will not update operator info. I need to test this more to be sure though. It also has a feature called Auto S/W which seems to be a auto SIM switching feature. This came with no information to read into, so I'm not sure and need to run some tests to figure it out. So far, it serves the exact purpose I needed it to, and cost less than $10 shipped. I would say that its a win/win situation. I need to run some real world tests on this and when I do, I will update the thread. For now, if you need simple, basic Dual SIM support, this is what you're looking for.
I'll add that I'm running CyanogenMOD 11 on a Note3 and have not tested this on a Samsung Touchwiz device. I have seen some complaints that the apk bundled with these adapters may have issues on some phones/versions of Android. Some research is suggested before purchasing, but its cheap enough to try anyway.
Good luck
Edit: This fits fine under the backplate of a Note3 using a stock battery and Qi adapter for wireless charging OR when using an extended battery like ZeroLemon because it has a long ribbon cable that can be folded around corners. I tested it with the ZeroLemon battery/case and it works fine.
