That live wallpaper test honestly made me cringe a little. I am willing to bet though that most live wallpapers I use like microbes will work flawless, so that's all that matters. I'm not very worried about quadrant benchmarks either, at least not right now with the latest update and all seeming to be a little buggy.

As a International GNote owner I was impressed. I have never tried a live wallpaper so do not know if the International would fare better, I doubt it. The screen transitions on static wallpaper looked impressive. Would have thought the Quadrant would be higher and the Antutu was right there with the International at 6400+
Overall it looks as though the ATT model has optimized touch wiz well. Initially, the International Note was laggy until a few updates were able to optimize and speed it up significantly.
Overall I think it looks great!

The other issue is battery life. Yesterday I used the Galaxy Note heavily since it was my first day and I wanted to try everything. The result is that the battery was down to 4% after about 6 hours.
Not too surprising when overusing your phone the first day though.

It is not weird at all. Qualcomm chip just can't compete with Exynose in these benchmarks. It's a well known fact.

jpeg42,
Did you write the article? Nice job. The battery is something I am looking at closely before getting the ATT version. I have found 25-30% brightness more than adequate on my GNote and as you say it takes several cycles to see the full capacity on the battery. The other area I am interested in is Bluetooth. The International GNote has a BT that is superb! My skyrocket BT sucks and I am hoping it is not because of LTE. The LTE network in Dallas and Texas is top notch which is why I am considering the ATT model. Any insights will be appreciated.

True, but I wasn't expecting such a huge difference considering that the att note is still a 1.5ghz phone. It's a little disappointing because my atrix benchmarks are around the same at a 1ghz clock speed.
I know rom development is going to be big with the note which is one of the reasons I'll be getting one, along with lte.

Benchmark and real world experience are two different thing. Qualcomm chip is 1-gen older than Exynos.
The new quadrant benchmark that he was using has lower scores in general., I just retested my Dell Streak using the new quadrant and the scores were about 500 points lower. The international note should be re-benchmarked with this new quadrant for perspective. If you notice the other benchmark scores arent really that off par.
Interestingly, Phone Dog just did an update on his 30 day challenge with the Note and just switched to the AT&T version. He's saying that in actual use, he feels like the Snapdragon has been faster than the Exynos. Granted, it's only been a day of use, but still interesting to hear from someone who's been using the International version for a few days and picks up the AT&T version.

Once we can freeze the bloatware, I'm sure its gonna fly! Even the international version would suffer with all of that installed...

Here is my stock Intl GNote on the new quadrant. Was a 4105 now 3753. As many are saying there are objective and subjective benchmarks. The app benchmarks are objective and the personal experience (Flipping the screens etc.) is subjective (Aaron on phone dog). Not sure what the ATT quadrant is, but in the subjective observations I have had on the videos, it looks fine and even snappy. Lisa on mobile tech review says they are comparable and that is good enough for me! lol! The Intl. GNote was not that snappy on screen transitions for a couple of updates but is pretty speedy now! The phones are comparable on the things I will use a phone for and for 90+% of us either model will be fine in performance in my opinion.

Yeah theres something weird about those scores. He was definitly using the old quadrant for the international but from everything I have seen the ATT places very close to the INT with the new quadrant. Not much of a "review"

ALLEGEDLY
still too small after having my note for a while now
If the rumor of simultanous launch is true, I'd gladly skip the GNote. The 4.8" screen is perfect for me, comparable to GNexus's 4.65", both without physical buttons. I'm sure the screen will be Super AMOLED Plus HD. Anything less doesn't deserve the GS3 name.
I was actually all set to pull the trigger on the GNote today until I saw this. I live the size of the GNote, but really wish it was a quad core. Also for someone that goes through as much battery as me through a day (almost 2 full batterys on my skyrocket a day), I didnt want the hassle of taking the back off the phone constantly since people on here have implied it being very difficult. Might just do GS3 until the Note 2 comes out
If everything in that spec list is true.... I'm getting one.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
I care a lot less about screen size than I do screen resolution. 1280x800 or 720p would be fine - anything less is useless on a screen that size. It'll be interesting to see how it stacks up with the Note.
Also, I want to say I read that the photo in that article is a discredited 'shop-job, but I'm not sure. Having zero bezel around the edges of the phone would make it awfully difficult to hold and not create mis-clicks.
I'm pretty sure that's photoshop job but thin bezel is not new. HTC has two 4.7" phones with thin bezels, one for WP7, one for Android. None are being called too big by any reivewers

That's is a very subjective matter. I tried multiple GNotes at AT&T store. It certainly feeled sluggish in stock form compared to my GS2 in stock form with a lot of apps installed. GNote could have benefited a lot with a much beefier processor than the S3.
Interesting article. The ceramic and size info is indeed new and I have not heard any of that from my source
Right now we are expecting
4.65 hd screen and a new dual core, not quad.

These supposed spec leak articles are a joke, designed to drive traffic to those site. They just speculate on the incredibly obvious. What phone hasn't come out with a slightly larger screen, a bigger processor,a better camera more memory etc. Its a given that if you wait another six months you will always find a "better" device. "Super AMOLED Plus HD"..lol.

Mr.Ed,
I wonder what happened to that Skyrocket HD (a.k.a Galaxy S2 HD LTE in Korea)? If this rumor is true about the launch, it makes no sense to release the Skyrocket HD at all. So, if there is no upcoming release schedule for Skyrocket HD, we can assume GS3 is coming to US this summer.

According to a leaked AT&T road map, the skyrocket HD is suppose to be released at the end of Q1.
I'm not gonna get too excited about it at this point. I'm not too ready to move on to the next big thing, specially if it has a smaller screen. I just moved from the streak to the Note, and on paper this is about twice the phone that the Streak was. However in actual usage it's not that much faster, and in some cases more choppy.
It's a better phone, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that there's no point in waiting forever. There will always be something better on the horizon. And the Note meets my needs perfectly right now, and probly will for the next year

After getting used to the Note, I wouldn't want to downgrade to a smaller screen. I love how everything is huge on the Note. On my GNex, everything looks stupid small in comparison. I'd rather wait for the Note II with Exynos 5250.

Look at all the hype the Galaxy Nexus/Nexus Prime was getting just to find out you couldn't expand the memory, only went to Verizon, etc etc.... I messed with Note a day or so ago and it wasn't as bulky as I thought. I was more curious about development issues. The Skyrocket and the Hercules (i727 & T989) are basically the same phones so from the development side there are more behind them. Not sure if an SIM unlocked Note can work on T Mobile or if T Mo is going to offer the Note at all.

Do you have a link for the Note 2 or is it mostly just talk as of now?
I'm most interested in the ceramic back. If it is durable, I think that could create a really interesting new path for Samsung in terms of design. I can just imagine a smooth, matte finish feel that would feel super sexy and high quality. Not that Samsung hasn't achieved high quality design using their plastics, but I would be really excited to see what they could do with some other materials seeing as they have really proven that plastics can be used to create a rock solid device.
I'm thinking of upgrading to this device from a SGII. But I really want to be able to tell the difference if I'm going to make this upgrade. Would have went to a sprint store and tested this myself if that were possible.
I was curious and ran a quadrant benchmark and here's what I got
Almost identical as yours. Lol

Thanks for the benchmarks. After reviewing the results I may have to pass on this one. It was either a sg3 or a psp and after seeing the gpu scores I'm going to go with the psp vita. i'm thinking of getting the Galaxy s3 but i'm having a bit of trouble deciding which one. before i continue i would like to sate a couple factor :
I have att, 3gb of data
I live in New York so i have LTE coverage everywhere
i barely use data for anything other than downloading an app, browsing the web, or watching something on youtube
i'm a major gamer so thats were getting the international one with its Exynos chip v.s the us one with snapdragon s4
So a couple of questions i wanted to ask you guys was:
Does 1gb vs 2gb of ram really make a difference and improve speed, i don't multitask a lot just like 2 or 3 apps
how good is the snapdragons 4 actually?( Give your opinion, and if you ever had lag when you used it)
How good is the snapdragon s4 for gaming, ex. GTA3, Max Payne, Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, N.O.V.A 3, and if the games ever felt laggy or a little glitchy?
Also they are more developers for the international version
thanks in advance
If you are not worried too much about the LTE speeds than your best bet is i9300. Exynos 4 Quad is definitely better for gaming ... I have the AT&T variant just because I wanted to have unlimited 4G plan (grandfathered unlimited 3G upgraded to unlimited 4G now).
Also, if u have ORD then i9300 is the best choice hands down. I can speak from my own experience when I chose to get i9100 over local US variants. The amount of developer support for the international models is mind boggling. You don't get that much support (as quickly) for the US variants.
So better gaming, better developer support. I would say go for i9300 ... Hope this helps.

For ME the development alone is the biggest reason why i went for the international, we have so many recognized devs working on so many ROM's and its nice to get the first updates as soon as they come. The quad core is a bonus, as i have never seen a hint of lag or stutter on this thing. The 2gb of ram vs 1gb of ram isnt really that big of a deal to me, phones run perfectly fine on 1gb but 2gb is awesome too. This is why i chose the I9300, its different for everybody but i love this beast.
I come to these forums a lot to see what the US version has cooking and so far it looks like things are getting ready to pick up! Task and Ktoonz (sp?) are awesome devs.
If the $600 is out of your budget, then the convo is done. I mean what else do you need people to say?
Please don't take me being blunt, for rudeness.

No problem. Trust me, your going to love it. You probably won't even want to sell it for the international version. The US version handles everything just fine. In fact, tests have shown where the S4 processor actually performed faster in some situations. Most phones can't even utilize 4 threads yet. Put simply, you get all the performance of the quad-core (and then some), plus amazing battery life. We've seen video proof of the performance. With the S4 Qualcomm has introduced a new architecture, and it's cutting edge. It's based on the same instruction set as the new ARM A15 processors, which gives it a significant advantage over it's competitors. It will do tasks faster, and more efficiently than the rest of the current generation hardware. So performance is just as good overall and battery life should be better.

Don't believe everything you hear the s4 chip is a beast. Not as good as the sammy quad but i say better than tegra. Either way a duel core phone going toe to toe with either of theses processors speak for itself. It's a notice different from last generation duel core. It handles games without a hitch battery life omg all day long . This phone isn't perfect but it's Pretty darn close. I own the evo 4g lte with the s4 chip and it runs sense4 like butter no lag get the phone enjoy it. Development isn't where the international version is because the rest of the world78% to be exact got the same phone and little usa has to have there altered to work with lte. Plus they got theres before us. The u.s galaxy s3 development will pick up fast the delays and Verizon just getting it a few days plays a roll to.

I've had Note 1, S3 then Note 2... the best is obviously the newest because has the latest everything hardware software and features. I haven't used the dual core S3's I bet they are slow regardless of whatever anyone may say about benchmarks and whatnot. If you don't mind slow then a Note 1 will suffice you, but I rather get the N7000 than the i717 I've had both and the n7000 hast better rom support and better battery life they both suffer from screen "banding" its a known issue and both suffer from high battery drain when wifi is on, the n7000 lacks LTE and is packed with a SAMSUNG Exynos CPU/Mali GPU while the i717 is a Snapdragon/Adreno, the adreno is less compatible than the MALI so expect better FPS on the n7000. They are all capable of running pretty much ANY app that is available at the moment but the Note2 seems/feels snappier than the others. Physicaly the note 1 is wider at 16:10 ratio and the note2 is narrower, personally i've found that 16:9 is much better for typing in portrait than the note1 I do less typos on the n7100 don't really count that as a plus or minus.
Hope that helps you a little.

+1 I was just about to say the same thing
sent from my lovely phone....hmmm wait its a tablet...waaa i dont really know.....im PARANOID NoW!
I wouldn't say the Note is slow but the note 2 is faster. I believe jellybean improves the ui with project butter so if we get jellybean on i717, Superb!
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
[Lady]: "How do you carry that huge phone in your pocket?"
[Note User]: "I'm used to having huge stuff in my pants"
obviously the note 2 is faster. but the note 1 isnt slow. stock vs stock... my amaze 4g with the same s3 and 1gig of ram was faster.. samsung just did a horrible job with slimming down touchwiz... or maybe it could be all that carrier bloat because the stock n7005 rom is pretty smooth.
some people complain about hairline cracks on their note but i think that is only a problem with the white version. so you might want to look out for that.
The Note 2 is definitely the fastest out of all of them. It also has the advantage of packing a slightly bigger screen (5.5" vs 5.3") into pretty much the same size frame.
