[Q] S2 HD LTE - which version for 4G in US/UK? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm looking at buying a Galaxy S2 HD LTE, but I'm not sure how to work out which version will work for 4G in which countries.
I'm going to be using this in the UK - so it must work perfectly for data in on 3G in the UK, and I'll be travelling to the US and I'd like to use 3G and 4G in the US.
I'd also like the phone to be future compatible with 4G in the UK.
Is this feasible?
How do I know how to match up the phone's specifications with the service specification from each country?
Thank you!

[Q] UK SGSII in the US?

Heya!
I'm a little confused as to what Frequencies for 3G the SGSII will support - are the data sheets true and it actually is ready for 3G Quadband? So I'd be able to use the phone I buy over here in the UK on the AT&T Network and I'd still be able to use the 3G connectivity?
Thanks for the clarification!

Yes, you can use with ATT in the US. Galaxy S2 has 850/1900 3G bands which is what ATT uses.
agree, I am on AT&T, using it. the phone software is not yet perfected in terms of 3g/4g, but that effects all users around the world.
Awesome, thanks for the clarification!

[Q] Will the Galaxy S2 asian version work with AT&T's 3G and upcoming 4G?

Hi guys!
New to the forum. I'm about to purchase a Samsung Galaxy S2 in Hong Kong.
I was wondering if this phone will work on AT&T's network, namely their 3G and their 4G frequency. It'll be quite pointless to get this phone if I couldn't utilize it's speed.
Thanks!

Galaxy S2 HD LTE

I would like to ask does anyone purchased the S2 HD LTE from korea and use it in Malaysia?
Cause im interested to buy a phone S2 HD LTE in Korea but i'm worrying whether it can be use in Malaysia.
I understand that Malaysia networking doesn't have the LTE but the phone can it use it with the normal networking?
I wish i could hear some opinion whether i should buy the phone or not.
as long as it has a sim card slot you can use it almost anywhere in the world, but if it is CDMA you can only use it with CDMA network supporting carrier's, and if it doesnt work you could always change your modem

LTE is HPSA

I just got off the phone with Telus and they told me that LTE and HSPA are the same. So if I get the LTE version, unlock it, when i head to Europe in a few months the phone will work there too. (on other carriers)
Is this true?
Nope ,, its not the same
Thats what I thought, thx
HSPA+ should not be confused with LTE, which uses a new air interface based on OFDMA technology. HSPA+ is an evolution of HSPA that upgrades the existing 3G network and provides a cheap way for telecom operators to migrate towards 4G speeds without deploying a new radio interface.

let me know if u get 55+mbps on your "hpsa", or u prolly meant hspa.

how to check galaxy s3 is 4g-LTE activated or not?

Hi... How to check if my galaxy s3 is activated for 4g-LTE network as in the country I work right now dont have 4g-LTE but it is going to launch the 4G-LTE in few months...
Unless you bought yours in Korea and it has more angular shape like the S2, I doubt you own an LTE version.
It hasn't been launched outside Korea.

Pretty sure the LTE models only have dual core processors in them.

It its model (Menu --> Settings --> About Device --> Model number) is GT-I9300, it's the international version and it's not an LTE device.
If it's SGH-T999, it's the US T-Mobile version, you're in the wrong forums, and it's not an LTE device also.
If it's SGH-I747, it's the US AT&T version, you're in the wrong forums, and it's LTE-enabled.
If it's SCH-R530, SCH-I535 or SPH-L710, it's one of the US CDMA versions, you're in the wrong forums, and it's LTE-enabled.
If it's SGH-N064 (SC-06D), it is the Japanese NTT DoCoMo version, you're in the wrong forums, and it's LTE-enabled.
Finally, if it's SHV-E210K/L/S, it is the Korean version, which is the only quad-core, 2GB, LTE-enabled model. And you're in the wrong forums.
I have international version..

If you have the i9300 than you only have HSPA+.. no LTE.. but its still 4G..(more like 3.5G to be technical) Now if you lived in the Korean market and manage to get your hands on a LTE version then you have LTE where the bands are supported..

Thanks I have international and I can receive H+
anyone seeen me?
I just got thebsprin gs3 4g lte model and I too want to know how can we manually turn 4g on or off or simply verify it's on 4g. My epic 4g had a friggin checkbox you could see it was checked or jot but the gs3 doesn't. Still love the phone so far with one major hit, no ability to kove apps to SD. Is it just ke or does that seem stupid? Anyone know of abway to get this functionality back without rooting and if rooting is needed what's the likelihood I'll brick my phone? Never rooted, scares me
Easy way to check is to use the speed test app, if you get more than 40mbs, there's a good chance that you're on a lte network with lte access. One of my mates has an i9300 GT, 1G ram but gets 54mbs, so I'm at a loss as to what's going on there. I did the speed test for him on Telstra's network in Tassie... Checked in settings and it does use lte...

I hv Korean s3 SHV-E210 L 2GB RAM and 25GB ROM and it only connects to GPRS and 3G!
I have Korean s3 SHV-E210 L and it only connects to GPRS and 3G. When I select WCDMA only the network keeps on dropping out. Please tell me whether my phone is 4g compatible? I even do not get H+ network in this phone. I had s2 and it was having a great H+ network but this s3 only receives 3g forcefully. It has got 4.1.2 custom , 2GB RAM and 25 GB ROM. And can I upgrade it to kitkat?
I am sick of slow internet please help. Thanks admin n all.
Thanks.
The E210L is not a good match for either European or American bands, as it's tailored to LG U+'s CDMA (3GPP2)-based network. It is a bit of a surprise that it even works on GSM, much less on 3G.
IIRC the E210K is recommended in Europe.

Korean s3 SHV-E210 L 2GB RAM and 25GB ROM and it only connects to GPRS and 3G!
I am in India and using Korean s3 LTE 2gb ram which doesn't receive H, H+. It only catches GPRS and forcefully 3G with an speed of maximum 1 mbps. I have contacted Telecom provider and am sure it's not there fault as apart from this phone other phones work perfectly fine. Please help me to improve the speed of my cell data internet as it can support Upton 21mbps. I am sick of slow internet and network dropouts. Thanks. ?
AFAIK India uses the same frequencies as Europe (same ITU region). So, you will likely need E210K or E210S (both GSM devices) to get 3g and 4g, not E210L, which is a CDMA phone. Not all Korean 4G S3s are the same.
Also, your SIM could be too old, or your APN settings wrong. However, it sounds like your device can only receive a less-used frequency band for 3g, with less than normal coverage - a common issue with LG U+ devices.

S3 Network issue! Slow internet!
I've S3 E210 L and when I check my APN settings it does have LTE option under Bearer but currently my Telecom provider doesn't support 4g. However they do provide 3G with a great speed. I hv used it on other mobiles and it works great . It's just this phone gets only G when selected GSM/WCDMA automode. When I manually select WCDMA only it gets 3G but very slow speed and it drops out very frequently. The maximum speed which I have received is around 1 mbps only.
Please provide me with a resolution how I can I get good bandwith/speed. ?
