[Q] Notifications while on Bluetooth - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Quick question, I've had a search of the forums and not found anything which answers it. So apologies if there is an answer out there which I have missed!
When my phone is connected to bluetooth, all of my notifications are sent to the car speakers.
This is great when I'm listening to music streamed from the phone. But if I've got the phone connected to bluetooth on the chance of incoming calls, but listening to MP3 or FM, then any incoming SMS messages or emails are notified via the car bluetooth headset.
Is there any way to tell the phone to notify both on the handset AND the car when connected to bluetooth???
Thanks in advance.

You must remember that CM9 is in alpha and does not have all the functionality you need. Have you tried any other ICS builds to see if the problem exists there?
Right now, the Sammy ICS ROM's such as Resurrection 9.2 are pretty stable. CM9 has been set back by the availability of drivers.
Cheers!

I'm certain it's not a ROM based issue. I know CM9 is Alpha. Previously I was running MoDaCo Custom Rom on GB.
I think it's the way that all audio is sent to Bluetooth. Hence asking if there is a way around it, via a script or app?

Try a stock ROM.
AOSP ROMs use a different bluetooth stack than stock Samsung ROMs. This is also why most bluetooth controller apps didn't work on stock Samsung ROMs until Dancing Pixel updated the SixAxis app (around October, I think?) with a workaround.
Edit to add: or a stock BASED ROM. If you like AOSP look and feel, with some essential stock bits, check out GingerMod.

Thanks for the reply.
I think it's an inherent issue with all handsets and ROMs. I have a friend using stock, and he still has the same issue.
I guess my post was to understand if there was any way around it (via a hack or app). For instance, my Blackberry alerts on the device itself, but calls and music go through the car headset.

Media audio - routing to bt headset

Hello all,
I have been using android on my hd2 for some time. There is 1 thing that I am unable to do which is frustrating.
Under winmo, I could listen to audio books via the Bluetooth headset, is this not possible on android?
Any help gratefully received.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It is quite difficult to do it in Android at the moment. There are a few builds where this is possible, like forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740963 (shubcraft) and forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736545. However, these builds are not 'perfect' IMHO.
There are builds where you can listen to audio via bluetooth but if you get a call, it may reboot, like forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026.
There is no build I have found yet, that has Hotmail ActiveSync support, complete Bluetooth audio (to sync with Ford a2dp), no SOD and good battery life!
I can listen thru my Sony Ericsson HBH-DS headset just fine on following builds and phone calls also :
HyperDroid
Bangster's
mdeejay
...rest I do not run regularly but I suspect will work fine
Is the media-routing Problem similar to my Problem ?
I dont know if this issue is known, so i post it here in hope, that it will be fixed =)
I have in all Android apps wich had something to do with the sound-input/output problems. I had no sound there.
I tested FritzApp! ( a App wich allows you to use your Androidphone as an normal DECT/IP Phone with the Fritzbox!)
Either my communicationpartner hears my voice nor I hear him. Dialing works perfectly just the sound doesnt
And with MicDroid ( Something like LaDiDa for Iphone). ( Records just "Rauschen")
Can you confirm this kind of issue or am I the only Person, plz post your problems.
Or is this problem known ?
kind regards
malla

I would say that it is similar because even my BT system (on some builds) recognizes the phone, connects, plays music, dials calls, but there is no audio (in/out) once the call is connected. This is confusing because there is no issue in connecting as an audio device, the problem is in the phone device.

[Q] Problem bluetooth music plays and stops Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100

Hello, I have a problem with the bluetooth of the Samsung galaxy S2. It's connects correctly to all devices, and for example, when it's connected to the bluetooth of my car, and I play music, the music stops and plays intermittently with all the music programs that I have tried. It's strange because when I am using the bluetooth for hands-free talking it's works perfectly. I dont Know if maybe exists and update of the firmware of the bluetooth.
I have this specifiactions:
Android Version: 2.3.3
I9100XXKDJ
GINGERVREAD.XWKE2
Thank you!!!
I had this problem also but it hasn't done it for a long time, don't know what else to tell you?
Goodluck

Hello NIK516,
Thanks for answering. Did you do something? I understand that know you don't have the problem.
Hi,
I'm experiencing the same "feature". Let the phone play its hiccup game for a couple of times and it will play just fine after a minute or so. I only figured this out while testing the GPS capability and wanted to get voice instructions over BT as well. First I had the play...pause...play....pause - loop, but after a minute or so all was fine.
Update: I just went down to my car to confirm "the minute". Guess what it was playing perfectly fine and my radio was even showing mp3 tags which it didn't before with my HTC Desire.
So, what did I change in between:
- stopped WiFi sharing using the task manager
- bonded my Asus G53JW to the phone in order to try Kies via BT

I have been listening to music with SE MW 600 Bluetooth headphone for weeks and I have yet to experience such a problem. Try a different ROM.

I flashed 2.3.4 XXKG1 and I lost all settings, all apps etc.
I was lucky enough that I had made a CWM backup before BUT I wonder why I can't do this without losing my apps, data etc.
It's very weird because Kies is doing this to the latest firmware (which means that is 100% feasible) but it seems to me that it can't happen with earlier versions.
Any clues or directions are more than welcome.
No news on my post, bad news to my query...
AND still suffering from these unexplicable A2DP Bluetooth disconnects...
So I have option 1 to install 2.3.4 XXKG1 but lose all settings and almost 150 apps and spend I week to bring them back
and option 2 to swear 10 times a day that Bluetooth disconnects
Thank you Sammy, well done!

Bluetooth problems

My bluetooth will connect to my car to answer phones calls but as far as being able to play pandora after rooting I having been able to do that.
I think the AOSP roms are the only ones that correctly implement the latest blue tooth stack. HTC uses an older and broken implementation. If blue tooth means that much to you, I would try looking a non sense rom

I have an AOSP ROM, I can talk through the bluetooth in my car but I cant play music like I did when I had stock. I am planning on flashing some different ROMs on my 8 days off this coming week, I dont like running into problems while I am at work and then I get busy. I will report back to see if any other AOSP ROMs work and which dont. As of right now
Th3ory's ROM I have listed - Talk ( yes ) Music streaming ( no )

For what it's worth, I can listen to music on the latest stable CM7 using imo's latest kernel using various music players. I use a bluetooth stereo headset. Bluetooth stack is located in the kernel only I believe. Perhaps try a different one?

I did download a different Kernel on my phone, will prob flash that before I switch ROMs just to see if I can get better battery life before I restore Th3ory's 1.3.1 AO5P. I was getting way better battery life on 1.3 than I am getting on 1.4 I hadto switch to battsaver on speedtweak to get the same about of battery I do on 1.4 that I use to on 1.3.

It fails for things like the PS3 Controller and I've seen people saying they can't get a keyboard to sync. However if you read my post I said HTC, not aftermarket modified kernels based on sense . Good to know that it was fixed by porting and patching things though. I never tried bluetooth on it until recently so I couldnt say from experience how it was on a sense rom
I flashed a different kernel and now I can play music in my car. On same rom listed.

How are you playing music from your Droid to your Car radio via BlueTooth? I have not been able to figure this out.

His car has bluetooth support built into it most likely. Many new cars do.
I have Bluetooth support built into my car, but I have not figured out how to do anything besides a phone call. Is there an app that you are using?

You should probably read the owner's manual for your car if you have not. Not to pull a RTFM on you
Just guessing it probably says how to do it and it varies by car.
Ya my car has a setting for "enabling Bluetooth audio", but it never recognizes my phone running cm7

It should work. It works with my girlfriend's dInc with CM7. If its like her car, you can't set it up unless the car is parked.

[Q] ICScrewd stereo Bluetooth issue

Before I say anything, this is the best ROM I've used for any of the devices I've owned. Simply for the fact that I would rather fix it than flash with something else!
Anyway, the problem is my phone no longer works with my car for media streaming through bluetooth. Worked fine prior to flashing with ICScrewd 2.01. It does pair and the phone functions works otherwise.
Is this particular to this ROM or something else? This is a very stripped down build, which is why I liked it.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Sarelon
I can add one thing to this, for the first 3 days and 4-6 reboots after upgrading to 2.0.1 (Flashed 2.0, and then the 2.0.1 upgrade later) anytime I would connect my stereo headset (RF-MAB2) the phone app would FC, I would lose phone signal, data, and bluetooth/wifi. They would all come back 30s-1m later, but upon reconnecting the bluetooth headset and hitting play on an audio file it would play, but no audio would come through the headset or the phone speaker. On the other hand my Jawbone Icon connected and worked just fine at all times, no crashing of the phone app or anything else.
One problem though, when I decided to go and capture a log file of it happening .... it ceased to happen, and hasn't happened since, with or without the alogcat running. I'm completely baffled but do hope we can fix this so it doesn't happen in the future.
i think it might be a 2.3.6 issue but i could be wrong. were you on 2.3.4 when it was working?
I experience this same problem with my bt and my alpinew900 rich has tons of bugs anyways...

So are my options non-existent? Will it be supported soon, is there any ROM close to what you built with BT HID support or am I going back to stock?
Again, fantastic work on this ROM.

[Q] CM10 and A2DP / Car bluetooth

Hi all, i hope someone can tell me more about this:
I have a bluetooth system on my car called blue&me by Fiat. It manages incoming and outgoing calls and reads sms.
My question is about SMS reading, in fact when i use blured stock rom i can get sms to be read by my car voice but i can't on every cm7 cm9 CM10 based roms.
Is seems like blured roms have some lib or app able to send received sms signal to the car and let it to read out the text.
Do you know what cm is missing? There's a way to enable this function to CM10?
I already tried some app to force audio stream via a2dp without success (i'm on latest ePinter's CM10)...
Thank you.
To access SMS messages ROM needs to have Bluetooth Message Access Profile support. Motorola supplies proprietary support for this feature on their stock ROM. It is definitely not supported in CM7. It looks like there is an implementation in CM10, but it is still buggy. I think it is impossible to fix it just by installing some app, so you just need to wait for better support for this feature in CM.
