Hardcase for TPT: - Thinkpad Tablet Accessories

Hi
I found a hardcase for my TPT which is normally used for netbooks,
so a little bit bigger, but with shoulder strap and one outside pocket.
(where I put the "disassembled" charger and my slim tablet stand in)
It was important for me that it can get it transported save and it does not crack immediately when knocked with the case to a table corner or similiar.
Do you know different or better ones?
The case:
coolbananas BulletProof 8.9-10.2 "

roocase executive case for 1838
there arent any to be had on ebay at the moment.
this is an old auction (link will probably die soon)
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/rooCASE-Exec...ver-Lenovo-ThinkPad-1838-Tablet-/200672870938
The problem is- they're 99USD+shipping... which is infuriating
when US buyers can get one for 40 USD (incl shipping) at:
http://www.pcmicrostore.com/Executi...-Tablet--Black-ROOCASE/cat-p/c/p10518482.html
i'm looking into silicon covers at the moment- more info once i have it.

Thats a nice case right there. Thanks for the link.

$7.21 case for Amazon Prime members

If you are looking for an inexpensive case that will give you good protection, I had bought this case for a netbook but discovered it works pretty well for the G-tab. It is memory foam padded. It has two clear vinyl straps that will hold the bottom of the G-tab in place and which allow you to still view the screen. It can actually function as a stand in landscape mode but it can't handle more than light taps this way unless the back is propped against something. I have attached a couple pictures.
Price is $7.21 shipped if you have amazon prime and $9.20 if you buy from third party amazon seller Senyx.
Outer Dimensions: 11-3/4" by 8-1/2"
Inner Dimensions 11" x 7-3/4".
link: http://www.amazon.com/Booklet-Netbo...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1295738870&sr=1-1
$4.21 for similarly sized cases of the same brand
The following two cases are cheaper ($4.21) and have the same dimensions (11 x 7.75 x 1 inner compartment and 11.2 x 8 x 1 inches outer shell) despite being marketed for smaller sizes netbooks, they are same brand (case crown) and provided by same seller (fulfilled by amazon as well).

Thanks for tip OP.
From the single review of 8.9" case:
I accidentally browsed this netbook case and though it says it's for 8.9" netbooks, I was able to fit my 10.1" netbook comfortably.

sanvara: can you please confirm your amazon case dimensions ? Thank you in advance.
Good research. I didn't consider those since they seemed to be made for smaller netbooks. When I bought the case above a couple months ago it was on sale for $4.21 shipped too!
The outer dimensions on the case I have are 11-3/4" by 8-1/2" and inner 11" x 7-3/4". There is a fairly thick ring of padding around the edges which accounts for the difference between the outer and inner dimensions.
I personally like black and the slim design version over the double pouch for daily use but I may pick up the double pouch for when I want to carry the power cord somewhere.

I got mine the other day. It fits perfectly. The only thing to be careful of is remember the the "top" of the case is actually the "bottom." I already opened it once and forgot the the straps to hold it in are up by the handles. Luckily, I caught the tab before it fell out.
But I've already used the case to take the tablet on the road and it works and stands great. Watched a movie with absolutely no issue at all in this. I'm thinking about ordering the other one aasoror listed as well for the extra pouch for accessories as the tablet is taking flight this week.
Great find on these guys!
Thanks to both of you!

I looked at my local sears. They have the EXACT SAME case in the store, under the Case Logic brand for $15. But if you buy the G tab case online, it's currently under $5.00. Honestly, I think you're insane NOT to get this case for the price!
Agreed and its padded and the quality is good.

I just received this case. It doesn't fit. The inner dimensions are roughly: 9.5 x 7.25 inches. The G tab is roughly: 10.5 x 6.75 inches. So the case is about an inch too.
aasoror, where did you find the dimensions when you searched. They aren't listed in Amazon's page. Maybe they sent the wrong one?

Thanks more letting us know it doesn't fit. I almost ordered one. I wouldn't have thought it would fit since it's marketed for a 9" netbook.
The case I posted actually has a bit of room. When my case with the keyboard comes I'm going to see it it fits in there, I think it will.

Recieved my Amazon case today. Fits well and is a good deal for the $7
I am thinking about purchasing a basic neoprene sleeve to put my G-Tablet in. I don't need a normal case, as I have a custom carbon fiber weave on the back, and prefer holding it without a case. I just need something to protect it while it is in my book-bag. I was thinking about the following sleeve, but am worried about the size.
(apologise for the lack of proper link, I don't post very often)
amazon.com/ Neoprene-Netbook-Fujitsu-Samsung-Gateway/dp/B002TSCL2G/ref=sr_1_14?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1296573496&sr=1-14
It lists for 10 inch netbooks, and its listed dimension is 11x8.25, which theoretically should work for the tablet. What do you guys think? There are similar sleeves for 12 inch netbooks, but I don't want the tablet sliding around inside too much.

So now that everyone's GTabs are on the way, lets focus on the goodies!
Im curious, whats everyones favorite cover/case?
I know I want the dock, but what else is a MUST HAVE? I've even read about a screen protector that improves viewing angle?!?
If you have any good suggestions, please let me know, post the URL for people to purchase etc!
Just received my Skinomi carbon fiber skin. Was very impressed with the material, looks to be the same 3M stuff that "dash kits" use in cars. 24 shipped on amazon. I've heard it sucks to install - but my tab won't be here until Thursday to find out
Right now I have just purchased the "Skinomi TechSkin - Black Carbon Fiber FILM Shield & Screen Protector" from Amazon (Skinomi.com has a larger selection and coupon codes can be found online), based on the reviews there and in a thread over here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=904814) I believe is the best we can buy right now to protect the screen, I went for the full body kit as I have not yet decided on which case I will end with but will most likely be one with a keyboard so I can use it while in class.
I may pick some cheap capacitive pens down the road too just because you can get them pretty cheap and shipped straight to South America where I live
....I am a nOOb so can't post outside links yet....
I'm pretty happy with these...
Arkon Portable Fold-up Stand

CLIP - Folio Case
I bought a dock but didn't really find myself using it after I got it so I sold it off on eBay for a tidy profit.
I also had one of those cases with the built-in usb keyboard but found it looked way too cheap and didn't keep the gTab snug so I got rid of that on eBay for a tidy profit as well.
If you want a case with a built-in bluetooth keyboard I highly recommend checking out it2steve's web store for a case he calls the BlutO.
See link here.
As for a small bag to carry all of your gTab accessories, I recommend the Targus CityGear bag for 10.2 inch Netbooks. It fits everything nicely. The only negative about this bag for me is that the shoulder strap is not removable.
I almost forgot about the Skinomi Screen Protector. It is fantastic as long as you follow the directions and let the damn thing sit until it's completely dry after you've applied it (like 24 hours if you can handle it) and you will be rewarded with a screen protector that you can barely tell is there.
I would dearly love to get the BlutO but it's my understanding that it stays sold out.
So far I've ordered the dock from merimobiles, $42.75 with coupon code bienvenu
Needed the lan port for work since we can't turn on wireless due to sensitive client files.
Messenger bag from Bensoutlet dot com $7.98 shipped. Got one that looks exactly like this for my netbook from 1saleaday last year for $10 shipped and hope it's the same one, great little sturdy bag.
Lenovo usb keyboard remote w/ trackball, don't know if it'll work w/gtab or not but for $27 I can use it with something else if it doesn't.
Have a neoprene sleeve to put it in until I decide on which screen protector and cover.
Dern, why did I type all of this out? Now I know how much I've spent LOL

To make this post legal (and to satisfy my curiosity) how hard are these skins to put on? I bought screen protectors for my nook that I ended up wadding up and throwing in the garbage, couldn't ever get them to go on without steeeenkin' bubbles that irritated the crap outta me.

I can't answer that yet because FedEx still has my gtab
But. I have one that looks exactly like this one that I keep my 10.1" acer aspire one netbook in (has the extended battery) and I am able to put the netbook in a neoprene sleeve and then into the messenger bag and it fits. So I bought another one for the gtab figuring it should work for that as well. If it doesn't I'll be really surprised but won't be out much money at all.
Hope this helps.

Very professional looking and holds the accessories fairly well. There is only the one outside pocket, so things just get thrown in. For under $20 (with amazon prime), who can complain?
I have a Wenger Swiss Army 12" laptop bag that I used for my netbook. Got it at Walmart for under $15. it too has removable strap and a side pocket too.

Belkin is usually a good product. But here's what I use (in neoprene), just bought another two pack in fact:
http://www.meritline.com/flap-laptop-sleeve-neoprene-black---p-36331.aspx
Velcro flap closure, perfectly servicable and I've always been happy with them. Free shipping too, but you have to be sure to select that option. It does take a some time to deliver due to the fact that it ships from China. Also, these are a bit roomier than the usual stretch-to-fit neoprene sleeve. My netbook won't fit in that kind due to the extended battery.
What can I say, we wimmins love a sale ;->
I plan to wait to get my hands on the tablet (fedex will get it here on Thurs) ... play with it long enough to be certain I want to keep it ... and THEN ... shop for stuff. Else, getting rid of the tablet and all those accessories will be an humbling experience.
BTW, my CC. has a program where they will take back a product if the store does not accept it back. I hope I don't resort to it in this case.

No pockets and less protection but only 6 oz to add to the weight.

(UK) Are there ANY decent cases at all?

Im starting to wonder if I'm terribly unlucky or just plain doomed here.
I've so far bought a Mitab folio case which while managing to hold the tablet reasonably is clearly overstressing the docking aspect and doing damage to the tablet when I try and dock it. Without both parts in the case the tablet cover has the appearance/feel of an illfitting old book.
I then got a random folio case off ebay, allegedly a Moko Multi Angle Case and its terrible, it doesnt fit right and you cant use the camera.
I was then going to just get the ASUS Transleeve but apparently it scractches the back of the tablet and its hinge/connecting mechanism is made of fail.
So I ask you, XDA, which (if any) case is decent enough for the Prime?
Ideally I wanted something that I can dock while using, but thats seemingly out of the question, so I just want a nice case that doubles as a stand and doesn't look terrible.
Suggestions please (pref with Amazon UK links!) Would a "genuine" a Moko Multi Angle Case be the way to go, or perhaps the "premoium MoKo Case?
Cheers!
I am more than happy with my 2 UK cases.

I got this one and love it. Inside suede is black not grey and it fits really tight and snug and doesn't fall over when standing.
GreatShield on Amazon
I bought a Targus - Truss Leather Case/Stand. Just bought it because it was at Best Buy when I bought my tablet. Figured I'd use it for protection until I found a better/cheaper one, and then return it. I have read most threads on here about cases an also looked elsewhere online at cases quite a bit and have yet to see a case that I liked as well, much less better. I payed $40 US for it, though I'm sure it can be found cheaper online, but I really really like the fit, function, and quality of it. I would recommend it to others without any hesitation.

The greatsheild cases are by a mile the best case arround, slim and they look good too.
Dont consider anything else.
I keep mine on when docked and just put the flap under the dock.
You can find them on ebay from china and cost about 13 squid delivered, the only prob is waiting for delivery. But its not that long.
Hi Ady,
I have the premium Moko case you linked to.
My review is up on Amazon for this case too
I really like it, the Primes fits into the case perfectly, all the ports are accessible with the case on, as is the camera and flash.
I'll get some photos taken so you can see the fit.
Are there any good folding stand cases with access to the charging port while the thing is closed?
I found this Moko Premium folio one, which does look great as nitram says, other than it being folio rather than folding type:
amazon (dot) com/MoKo-Slim-Fit-Multi-Angle-Transformer-10-1-Inch/dp/B0063Q3G3I/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1332907452&sr=1-2
But as I said, I'm looking for more of one these folding types like, but neither of them show if there is a hole for the charging port while they are closed:
amazon (dot) com/MoKo-Folding-Transformer-10-1-Inch-Android/dp/B00565T3ZW/ref=sr_1_17?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1332909457&sr=1-17
OR
amazon (dot) com/Transformer-Prime-UrbanFlip-Series-Viewing/dp/B006WU9YMW/ref=sr_1_38?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1332909089&sr=1-38
Does anyone have them and can say or show if they have the port hole?
Hmm, interesting point there Alex.
Using the case as a stand (the Moko premium) the charging point is not accessible.
However, if you take the Prime out and put it in upside down then the charging point is at the top and thus accessible.
If I use the case with the front part of the case folded right back, then the charging point is fully accessible, but..... you have to unplug it, folde the case back, then plug it in again.

Cases

If you have or found a good case, post it here.
I bought the official case from TMO. It's a little pricey but provides excellent protection. As a matter of fact, the faucet in my bathroom leaks and I left my tablet on the counter one night. I woke the next morning and my tablet was sitting in a puddle of water that extended halfway up the case. Took the case off, wiped everything down, and plugged it back in. Worked fine. Even the liquid indicator was still white.

The brand is Incipio and I purchased mine from a TMo store for like $50. I had seen the same one on Ebay for half the price but I didn't want to wait. I checked Ebay and the case is no longer listed. I also looked on the Incipio web site and they don't even list it. I don't have a picture but the case is black and the tablet kind of snaps down into the bottom part of the case. You can open the case(it is held closed with an elastic strap) and you have three positions that the tablet can be set into. They range from a fairly good tilt to darn near upright. I have found the case to be quite nice and it really doesn't add much to the overall size. Hope this helps.

Pictures attached.
On the second picture, you can see bubbles in the microfiber. That's the glue separating because I got it wet.
I bought on ebay a smart cover like this from the auction 170821966479. It's thin, good protection and a good stand. I am very happy with it.
The TMO case is so popular in the US, but outside there are two options: universal 7 inch case or a not so bad case designed for the media pad. Search for t-mobile springboard case on ebay.
I bought a cheap-o case off eBay for $16. Listing was questionable as the sellers account was terminated the day after I bought it. I still got the case this morning after 3 weeks though. 2 problems with it. It's a little too thing for the springboard, so the outside edge around the display doesn't quit fold over all the way and sticks up. Secondly, the hole for the front facing camera is slightly off and the camera just barely peeks out from it.
Might not stick with the case though. Without the case I've always been able to stick it in my back pocket (slacks or jeans) and walk around with it to a few places, lunch breaks, dog walks, etc. With the case its a no go.

Yes, I have also found this one on eBay. I have ordered it (the same colour like lilaliend). But it never arrived (I got my money back). Fortunatelly!!
After the first attempt with eBay, I have decided to invest a bit more money and ordered a leather case from PDair:
qqq.pdair.com/index.php/ebook-reader-tablet/huawei/huawei-mediapad/leather-case-for-huawei-mediapad-book-type-black.htmk
(in the URL please replace qqq with www and htmk with html)
You can buy it directly from PDair for $80. This is quite a lot of money. But PDair's reseller for Middle East sells the same case ("book type") for $60:
tbeyond.com/leather-case-for-huawei-mediapad-book-type-black-p-14363.htmk
(in the URL please replace htmk with html)
Free Worldwide Shipping. Even though the reseller is based in United Arab Emirates, the case came from Hong Kong. Delivery to Germany was without any problems.
My experience with the case from PDair: The case is simply excellent. I highly recommend it. It is worth the money:
PROS:
- durable black leather
- magnets! It closes with magnets
- the tablet fits nicely into the case (in contrast to the cheap case from eBay - see post from lilaliend)
- all holes (front and rear cameras, USB and HDMI ports, charger) are precisely where they should be
CONS:
- the case is rather thick. They use multiple layers of leather (you can see it on the pictures on the PDair website). So the tablet is really well protected. But with the case you can not put the tablet into your back pocket...
TMobile Incipio case for Springboard has dropped in price
If you were to shop for it now on the TMobile site the Incipio case is now $29. That's about $15 to maybe $20 cheaper than when I bought it earlier in the year. ARGH!
I do love my case though. The only thing that's bad is when you are in portrait mode and the front cover doesn't sit nicely back when holding it in that position.

I wanted a case that had a zippered closure, for added protection. I had this case from when I had purchased the Kindle Fire. But I decided to see if it would fit the Springpad. It does, with a bit of sanding or cutting.
This is an option if you are willing to sand down or cut two nibs from the top two clips. Each clip has two nibs, the one you want to sand down or cut is the one on the right for each clip. I have attached some pictures so you can see the zippered case and the two clips above, and a close up of the cut. Mine is a bit sloppy, but hey, I'm not complaining. See pictures.

I bought on ebay a smart cover like this from the auction 170821966479. It's thin, good protection and a good stand. I am very happy with it.

Great... I am happy with my incipio but I got this off ebay because it would be nice to prop it in portrait mode. I guess I could report how well it does when it comes.

this is my combo "temporary" case and universal stand.
still looking for a folio-type case and I just got news that the local distributor here already has stocks and giving it for free for new buyers of MediaPad. :silly:
I wanted a case that protects the corners, could prop up the MediaPad in landscape and (!) did not cover the front (like some cases that cover the bezel around the display).
Turns out that this case for the Lenovo Ideapad A1 fits just fine. Only the hole for the camera is in the wrong place, but I don't use the Pad's camera anyway. Nice sleek design. Reeks of plastic/glue the first few days, but the smell wears off quickly and then you have a smart-looking case for your MediaPad.
Apparently this case comes with different names around the globe. Have a look at the pictures and see what's available in your country.
Hi
I'm using the EasyAcc Case for nearly a year now.
It fits great, exept the hole for the frontcamera could be a milimeter bigger.
I do not know, in it is available outside Germany.
