dont think its gonna be a stab at google music at all. more so at spotify and pandora and the likes...Least thats what I get form streaming music...
none the less it will be interested to see what they will have to offer that will differentiate it from the others...
Would of thought spotify wouldn't of made any impact with pandora working fine but it evidently has...
I love spotify, but I think if Google did the same thing as spotify, but made it so everything is alphabeticaly order, I would switch

Yeah, I'm thinking that Google Music will slowly transition into something like Spotify in the future. If HTC starts their own service, more power to them since it'll be more competition, which is always encouraged.
They can offer that they're the only ones with "Beat Audio" integrated with their service, but some of us know that Beats is just silly. :/

Still haven't gotten on the Spotify craze yet here. Pandora is perfect for me. Which is why I stated to begin with if Spotify can come into Pandora's market then HTC sure can come up with their own as well and do just fine.

I didn't think I would enjoy Spotify this much. I literally cannot stop playing music since I started the service. I usually buy my albums but with Spotify, it allows me to listen to all those songs without buying. I usually run with a playlist that I make and it's happy tunes from there. lol.

Yep, I use both since I like to discover my songs through Pandora time to time. If I want more consistency/specific music listening, Spotify is the way to go.

So I was going through the marketplace and discovered this music player called powerAMP. It's THE best music player for Android! It has an equalizer, home and lock widgets, TRUE RANDOM music (one of my main complains from the stock music player) and it looks pretty cool... just thought I'd share it with you all.

Yeah I've been using it for about a month now. Its really the best player on the market right now.
And its only $5 to buy.... free version is TIME LIMITED now.. you cannot use it forever for FREE anymore...
Best $5 I've spent. Especially since I've replaced my zune with my mt4g.

same here my zune finally kicked the bucket so my MT4G is my main source of music on the go. so this app saved me from buying another zune... think about this spend $5 for this or spend $150+ for something you already have lol

Me too. My zune got fried at some point and i just added a 16Gig card to my Mytouch3g and used it as my Main Podcast/Music Player. Now with the Mytouch 4g and the car mount, there is no need to cary two devices, just your phone and Google Listen/Power Amp

I found out, that HTC Touch Pro2 and this new myTouch 4G use the exact same batteries, I have an extended battery left from my HTC TP2, it fits on there perfectly, but the only problem I have, is to find a door to accompany it. Thank You
P.S. This is 2800 mAh

Yeah, I found out by looking for a whole set, battery and a door (Googling), and therefore the one that I have left from my old TP2 works perfect, I tried it. The only problem now, is to find a door to accompany it.

I AM WRONG!!!!!!!! I MESSED UP!! Batteries for/from HTC TP2 are the same as HTC MT3G, not MT4G!! I'm sorry for misleading you guys.

About the player....THIS....IS....AWSOME!
I listen music on my phone in my car. As soon as I get in, plug the audio cable, the player kicks in automatically and resumes the song. Love the lock controls, too.
And btw the Equalizer and bass control makes my stereo louder and deeper. Love it

btw one thing i missed about my dedicated music player (cowon D2) is that I could blindly tap on it a couple times to randomly go to the next track. Like the "Next" button is right on the edge of the player's screen so tappin that would go to the next song... with the phone however i gotta do the whole unlock screen thing of tapping a button, drag down to unlock THEN tap to go to the next song. Not as elegant as simply tapping a couple of times to go between songs which makes things bleh when doing hectic freeway driving and a song comes on that i don't wanna listen to
so if anyone found a fix to this then please feel free to share?
Going through the user manual I came across it. App among the included apps. Needs headphones plugged in to get a signal, but can output through the speaker too. Also has RDS which is great. Nice way to keep up on local info as in local weather alerts, local sports, school closings, etc..

Except I never had the Evo 4G. New to me. My wife who upgraded from an iPhone was amazed. Half the iPhone users who I mention this to rebutt with "there are radio apps in the apps store". I point out that my local stations don't simultaneously air over the web. No, its not the killer app, but a nice surprise from my point of view.
I discovered the phone has 3D capabilities too!

The speakers are cool. When me and my friends go camping we always use my phone to listen to music and its pretty loud. You can always set volume to your likings by using dsp manager.
I think the speakers are terrible. I'm trying not to make this the deciding factor of whether or I should keep the EVO 3D or return it.

Well in quite places is fine , anywhere else I found my iPhone more usefull, the og EVO had a better speaker

They're not bad, and they're not good. They're dead smack in the middle.
My speaker either got better with time, and or with custom roms, and because it sounds much much better now than when I got the phone. Music wise it also helps if you try turning on/off audio enhancements in the music player. Still not as good as my og evo, but not as horrible as when I first tried the phone.
Compared to the Hero that I had before this the speaker sounds like **** and won't even get to half the volume that the Hero would.
My wife still has a hero so I put the same MP3 file on each phone and played them. The Hero is easily twice as loud, twice as clear.
That's pretty sad since this is considered a high end phone and HTC puts a lousy speaker on it. I downloaded PowerAmp and it does increase the music play. In terms of ringer volume, I have yet to find a ringtone that's very loud.

The speakers, in nice terms, are crap. I resorted to equalizer,to help with it and it worked wonders. Others used The other program in this thread

Yes you are right. The speakers are crap. I tried the Volume+ app and it didn't do anything. I have the Rogers EVO 3D. I don't know if Rogers won't allow certain apps to work on their phones. I tried PowerAmp again and at first it sounded good, but now it's horrible. I'm not sure what to do. I want to use the EVO when I workout. I use the external speakers when I'm listening to music.
Any other suggestions? I still have time to return it.

if you use poweramp make sure switch equ to "phone speaker" for external sepaker and place something between you phone (speaker face down) and table so u have a little space to generate echo. It's much louder this way.
When I flashed CM7 (AOSP) all of sudden my speaker was just like the one on the OG Evo. With a touch of Dsp Manager for tweaks everything is nice and loud.

Edit: give the QPST mod in cdma or gms section a try...it worked wonders for my og EVO...its amazing what a cup of coffee does..it wakes up my grey matter...

Rocky...thanx for the tip...just when I got virus eternity picture perfect...another one..
Basically, stuff that wasn't advertised. So far I see:
1.) the hissing in the audio seems to be pretty much gone, which is awesome
2.) they added the battery meter thing into the "power" menu
3.) when synced to facebook, peoples birthdays are no longer a day earlier than they really are in the People app..they're the right date now!

to be tested:
1.) see if they got rid of the clicks/pops of the video camera (going to try to do a guitar video tomorrow to test) ****TESTED and they still have NOT fixed this. the audio is still god awful.

Seriously, if I'm not mistaken, those that are rooted and go right back to their nand, like I'm about to do, won't see the changes except the radios and hboot version.
EDIT: Restored my nand of Ineffabilis and I still see the 5 bars, I see the battery level indicator but not in the "power" menu, in the "About phone > battery" menu. I hope that means the calendar date thing is fixed too since I'm about to break down and sign up on Facebook.

Ack! They still didn't fix that compression distortion in the audio track? Damn, thats like the only reason I rarely ever record video on this thing. I wish they would fix that. It makes it sound like s**t. The other day I tested the video after I bolted on a quiet muffler on my car. In the video, I can still hear that compression noise very loudly, even with a quiet exhaust sound. Dohhhhh come on htc.....
yeah im gonna keep hitting them up until something gets fixed lol... either way, I bit the bullet and rooted lol so hopefully the devs can work on it now

Has anyone had a problem with the music app? It's no big deal but sometimes it locks-up and won't open unless I turn the phone off and turn it on again.
Skype wants to use earpiece for audio now rather than speaker on video calls. Not sure how to change it, but, it also means I can do a video call with my Bluetooth headset which is kind of nice. I tried this before the update and it didn't work.

I had this before the update, it would sometimes stop displaying my artwork too.... Which I've spent a lot of time embedding

I learned about this app from DL and the Gnex. I got my speakerphone volume up to 10+. No distortion at this level and sounds much better.
The weird thing is the speakerphone sounds really weird in-call and low volume as well. Someone mentioned this could be an issue with the rom I'm using though

If you think it's volume+ related, uninstall volume+ and test it out. If you think it's ROM related...try another ROM...
dsp manager is better than volume+ but the only solution to higher speaker volumes will be when the devs incorporate volume tweaks into the kernels. more likely when aosp comes.
I have been using volume+ as well and the bluetooth performance is excellent for phone and media in my car. It's awesome how you can literally change the speaker profiles and instantly hear the levl adjusting on the fly.... I do have a question about the In call setting that ask for root access; I'm not really sure what those 'steps' represent?

I've bought it in the past and am considering it for the ics ROMs. Now that we have BT streaming fixed, it seems to have knocked down the speakerphone volume. I'm hoping volume+ boosts that a bit.

I found that I can't run both together, or BOTH apps start to FC like crazy.
As soon as I uninstall either one, the problem goes away.

Yeah I notice this too. The speaker phone volume was low to begin with but I installed an ICS rom the first day I got the phone so I really don't have much to compare the issues I'm experiencing.
All I can say is the volume of someone calling is about the same volume their voice comes out of my speaker when I turn speaker phone on which is ridiculous.
Than I go to play my music and the phone is loud as hell. I can even take this thing in the bathroom with me while I shower and hear the volume pretty good over the water so the fact that it's not working with calls seems odd...
Has anyone tried going over 10+ on speaker? It says "loudest for most phones" next to that number but than there are options to bring it all the way up to 20. I'm too nervous to go past 10. Don't want to blow my speaker out.
Where is dsp manager? I cant find it in the market. Is it an app from someone on xda? I found Volume+ but I didnt want to mess with that based on the responses here.
