Fujitsu roadmap reveals Transformer Prime rival - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

It seems like every company is trying to make a tablet now.
What next, the bose ultra sound enhanced tablet with free CD changer dock?

OH LAWD PLEASE!
Lol, at least Bose would put more than one speaker into their media consumption device! And if not, it would be a damn good one speaker

The problem with some device manufacturers is they have no ongoing commitment. They'll test the waters and if things go well they'll continue and they'll pull out if they don't. Sharp's been in and out of Android tablets twice. The only one's I see committed are Asus, Samsung, and Motorola. HTC and LG have a reason to stay invested because of the similarity to phones (3G) but their first devices have been kind of meh. In spite of the A510 and A700, Acer's cut their Android development staff in half. And if a manufacturer's not invested their not going to keep up with OS upgrades and there will be weak or no dev support.

Lenovo sux though and has no developement support what so ever here in xda, basically. Just like the Toshiba thrive(which I almost purchased before the prime but were sold out. Glad I didn't get it..lol). Lenovo pushes out updates veryy slowly. One of their devices that's been out for the longest time is not seeing ICS till summertime.
Only thing I used to be impressed with was the rumored Lenovo tab that had a dock. The one they had all the cool demo videos on. This was way back before I even got my Ipad about 2 years ago. Man it was soon cool looking. I think was even before OG transformer was released. That idea had soon much potential and would've been the first real transformer tablet, per se. Constant delays n such n i don't think it never really saw light of day or specs were seriously dumbed down into current Lenovo tabs now.
Same deal with the Legendary Microsoft Courier tablet. Dual screen. The tech demo was sick! I wanted that so badly man. Was really disappointed to hear Microsoft decided not to make it. This was all around the time of first Ipad release. I tried my hardest to get anything but an Ipad bit in the end, at that time, Ipad was the the best tablet out period. And ended up liking it very much. So much I waited basically 2 yrs. To get a new tablet. Being the Prime I own. Now we at a point in time where Ipad isn't the only or best choice out there. Several great android tablets to compete and be a good alternative to Ipad. If galaxy tab 7.7 would've released earlier, I might would've had that instead of prime. I was really impressed with its specs and newer processor in it compared to other Samsung tablets out. I will get a Galaxy note once it releases shortly for AT&T. Gotta upgrade my Atrix n get a Phablet instead.
Like Barry said, I'd be Leary of new comers to Android sector. No guarantee on continued support plus lack of experience. That new Sony dual screen tablet is very cool. Only drawback is that it still has an outdated tegra2 in it. Love the clamshell fold up it has. Can easily slip in a coat pocket or whatever.
But Damn, I wish the Microsoft Courier would've became reality. Lol. Still to this day, one of the coolest tablet designs I've seen. If you've seen that tech demo on it, you would know how cool it was and that was years ago.
This a longer version of previous video. This could've revolutionized tablet computing.
Edit: here's the Lenovo tablet from 2yrs. Ago I use to get so hyped over. The U1 Hybrid. This blew away the Ipad in my mind. One of the coolest tech demos out and music great also....damn man...brought back memories finding this SMH

Hmmm.. Fujitsu.. These are people with great resources and massive tech expertise. Hope they stay.

if you are going to upgrade or replace, which tablet will it be?

which tablet do you have in.mind as an upgrade for this?

Do you mind to share why you are thinking of upgrading or replacing?
I am a very satisfied user of the GT10.1 - there is no need to rush for upgrades or replacement now.
Maybe next year with ICS and Quad-Core CPU's there will be some reason to upgrade.
I would recommend to you to sit down and enjoy your GT10.1 until a significantly better and more powerful tablet becomes available.
There is no better option today - simple as that!
If you don't like some minor lags and bugs present on Honeycomb, you can try the iPad2. I tried and gave up - I really don't adapt to Apple's limited iOS, I like the freedom to customize and play with the OS - and only Android can give me that.
And looking on other Android tablets, I went for the GT10.1 because of its weight and thickness - which was important to me, because my primary use is for ebook handheld reading.
My sincere advice - enjoy your tablet and wait for mid-2012 - there will be plenty of new options by then!

Man I couldn't have said it any better myself!!!
I'm with you m8, I think most people who post asking when the next os update is coming out or what the next device your going to upgrade to are really missing out. Instead of worrying about all that... Just enjoy.
And in my honest opinion the GT10. 1 is on the top of the heap right now... I had an Xoom for a week, took it back. I have a EVO View 4G that I use for work and my Tab knocks both of them out of the water.
Sent from my Galaxy10.1 TouchWiz/ADWex equipped Starship.
Instead of replacing I like to have more than one. I was tempted by Sony S1 but held myself from buying it. (Just for PSX games. But no HDMI on board.) I had a Transformer for a week. I have a GTAB 7 which I rarely use now. I love 10.1, but I miss the sim, and sd slots there. USB adapter is not the best solution. I really dont care how thin or light it is. My next tablet will not be a Samsung this time. I am really tired of waiting for them to update the firmware. I did manual update for Gtab7. S1 is getting 3.2 update now. Xoom and others too. I think I will wait this time for a quad core.... and I am very tempted for a windows 8 slate, but market and battery issues with W8 is a question mark.
I am in the camp of loving my tab. I don't even think about other tablets. I picked mine up on launch day in the u.s. and in the 3 months that I have had it we received the touchwiz update. With word of ICS coming this fall I see no reason for Samsung to spend any resources on honeycomb 3.2, really what is the point to spending all those development resources on 3.2 when everybody will be moving to ICS?
You also have to wonder just how much improvement the new processors will affect what tablets can do. You will hear people say that newer tablets can do this or that but if you look at how technology evolves, the improvement comes in steps, not giant leaps. I personally am not going to drop $500 plus on a new tablet and accessories every year, although Best Buy would love that. Did you buy a new desktop computer every year? This doesn't just pertain to android either, other than weight and a crappy camera, what does the ipad 2 do that the first can't?
I bet in one year in the transformer 2 or xoom 2 forums there will be a thread that reads, "was upgrading really worth it?" Or "why is there only a handful of apps that utilize the quad core?"
I also understand that there are people who absolutely have to have the newest tech and play around with it. Like a hobby. But then there are also others who just never will be satisfied with what they have.
Personally I think I will wait and upgrade every two years like my phones so that you can see marked improvement and give time for developers to increase the amount of content that is compatible with newer devices. Sure I can want more ports and not just a 30 pin connector but I knew this when I bought the tab, so I can't really complain about it. Long story short- I use my tab every day, getting my moneys worth, see you in two years on another forum.

Depending on how the Next gen honeycomb tablets bring to the gameboard i might just wait it out for a ipad 3... personally i own a galaxy tab 10.1 atm its really good serves all my needs except for hdmi output...
I am eagerly awaiting the HP Touchpad 2.
More seriously, I just dropped several hundred on the Samsung 10.1 a few months ago so why bother with crippling my enjoyment by worrying about obsolescence? There will no doubt be something newer and better soon enough, but I doubt it will be able to do anything more other than this one and feature only incremental improvements.
The Windows 8 Tablets will suck for home use unless they actually relase an ARM version of that OS. I wouldn't want to cuddle up on the couch with a tablet that had a cooling fan.
Lookout for the iPad 3,though. It just might be slick enough to excuse Apple's restrictions.

If I had the cash to toss around I would seriously be looking at the Toshiba Excite that's about to come out. Don't know too much about specs but it has on board microUSB, USB, and a microSD card slot, on a surprisingly thin body. That would be pretty cool.
xoom2 for me, i've had the xoom but took it back and now i have the sgt 10.1. It has been stated that a quad core ics tablet will be out before christmas so i will probably take back this sgt and wait for that.

Apple has hired Trolls to spray these halls!

I have a strong feeling that there are some Apple employees or contractors spreading negative info about the Prime here at XDA. Wouldn't be hard for them to do and nearly impossible for us to detect. Just saying.
I think if the few main points they are pointing out turn out to be minor or overly exaggerated, (ie. Sound sucking, battery dying fast, price to high for the market, etc.), then it will be an iPad killer or come very close.
Note: Hate to use the "iKiller" phrase because apple has a place and a market regardless, but I digress.
Then I guess they're doing a bad job 'cause I'm still buying one!
It's not Apple employees. It's just Apple fanbois and zealots. It's more religion than anything for some of this deranged folks who don't feel right until they have everyone "converted". Facts and rational arguments don't matter, because it's a sin to like Android. "Think Different" is really "Think Apple, Amen".

That about says it all.
Up until the past few days everything put out about the Prime was PR from Asus. That and a few specific demos of games. As hands-on tests are released there's bound to be some negatives uncovered. It's not natural if there weren't. One could say that the fanboys aren't those seeking real-time feedback even if it's not positive but those that are blindly defending a product that's not even in the hands of conumers yet. And like someone said in another thread, there can be big differences from one review to another. The Galaxy Nexus was hailed as the second coming of Christ. Now that it's out it's clearly not perfect compared to the anticipation and PR. I for one want to get feedback from owners after they've used the Prime for a while. That's what XDA does best.

I couldn't agree more. I have been slightly disappointed to hear some of the negatives about the Prime; especially in the Anandtech review when compared to the ipad2. That doesn't mean that I'm not really excited about this product. I don't need it to be a Jesus-tablet. I would just like it to be a really nice high end Android device that i will enjoy using for a long time (relatively of course). So, I for one haven't cancelled my order. I also haven't seen any Apple fanboys on these threads yet. Of course, I did remove my tin foil helmet some time ago so that could have something to do with it too.
I'm no apple fanboy infact the opposite, I think most of the apple crowd are sheep.
I am thinking of getting a prime for my wife. However the point that I find off putting is that the prime can only barely beat the IPAD2 in most tests and in some tests it fails compared to the Ipad2.
The Ipad2 is about a year old and the latest device and chipset that Nvidia and Asus can muster can only equal or barely beat it?.
really with the 11 month lead time the Prime should be kicking the Ipads ass, but it isn't.
I can only therefore gather that the Ipad3 whenever it is released would make the prime look like yesterdays tech just like the prime should have done but failed to do to the Ipad2.
I would love to be told that I am wrong and that infact the prime does indeed stomp all over the Ipad2?

which tests are you talking about exactly?
i would say most issues aside from hardware design issues stem from honeycomb and how crappy that version of android is as far as optimization and design goes.
hopefully ICS will fix a lot of the really big issues that HC has yet to even address.

IMHO, the point of the Transformer Prime is all about the *convenience*. For example, no one buys a MBA for its speed; even a $600 laptop would be faster.
The Transformer doesn't have to be better than the iPad or an ultrabook/MBA. But when you're on the road or wherever, carrying the Transformer will be heckuva lot more convenient than carrying both the iPad and MBA.
The whole is more than the some of its part. That's why the original Transformer has won awards such as tablet of the year, laptop of the year and device of the year!

I'm usually first in line for new and shiny tech. For a second-gen tablet, I'm going to wait a bit. Here's my thinking: 1) I want to see what people's real experiences are with Teg 3, 2) I want to see what the performance difference is with ICS irrespective of h/w, and 3) Acer, Lenovo, and HTC have all announced quad-cores with more RAM (2GB) and higher res (1920 x 1152) displays which are probably going to become the new standard for high-end tablets. Qualcomm, TI, and Samsung are all working on next-gen chipsets too. For those with short memory, Nvidia was the worst of the dual-cores (except for gaming) and unless something's changed it probably pays to wait and see what the other chip makers come up with. Also getting a tablet launched with and optimized for ICS is preferable to a future update.
If you need a tablet right away, and don't currently have one, it makes sense to go with the Prime. If you have a first-gen tablet more choices are going to be available by Q1. And after reading the Amazon cancellation thread and some of the problems being reported by reviewers it seems that Asus is really rushing this puppy out in order to be first to market. Historically, that's never been good.

I think that is an astute observation. i don't have a tablet yet and now is the right time to buy for me. If I could find the original TF at a deeply discounted price I think I would probably go that route for now. As is, I guess I will stick with the prime. It is after-all a beautiful device with a lot of upsides at least.

Transformers, Iconias, Thrives, and K1s have popped up for as low as $250 NIB for the holidays. If you get one, it would be a great transitional tablet until you have more choices for second-gen tablets available. You could probably turn around and sell it for close to what you paid via eBay or Craigslist after using it for a few months. But I totally agree that if you're paying retail the Prime is the best of what's out now.

[News] New Transformer Prime Announced

Interested in knowing what ASUS is up to for the rest of the year when it comes to the subject of tablets? You’re in luck because at a press event in Taipei today, Samson Hu, the Vice President and General Manager of the Eee Systems Business Unit revealed the company’s tablet roadmap for 2012.
The Transformer Prime will also be getting a 3G version sometime this March and it will pack a more powerful GPS module. At CES, ASUS will be unveiling a 7″ tablet (rumored to be the ASUS Memo) and a 10″ with a high resolution display (could be a completely new tablet or the upgraded Transformer Prime with 3G and better GPS). There are also two more 10″ tablets slated for the second half of 2012.
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/01/asus-tablet-roadmap-2012-revealed/
the fact that Asus is basically doubling it android division to like 400 or more employees and Windows 8 division will only have 150 employees doesn't look too good for Windows 8 at the moment. Clearly shows their focus is mainly on Android. Either way once Windows 8 releases, we will be able to load it up on Prime or dual boot. I'd rather be able to do that vs. a single OS device only. We already got Backtrack5(Hacker Linux) running on Prime so outlook looks good.
I feel like this is the bait and switch. They put out the Prime, it sells like hot cakes but disappoints some users. Then they learn from their mistakes at the cost of the consumer and introduce new products to correct the mistakes.
I'm really trying to be positive about this whole thing, but this really makes it difficult. This is where competition really bites the consumer in the ass.

How is this bait and switch? Would you prefer that the next product they come out with still have the same problems some have complained about? I'm glad they're learning and are willing to put that knowledge to use on the next product. If companies didn't do that, we'd all be driving Model A cars.

+1 on that, even if I realize I'm lucky being Italian, which means that I had the chance to see various reactions and enough time to decide whether going for the Prime or not. Obviously, if Asus will announce the Prime 3G at CES, I'll wait for it since I have an Acer Iconia A500 in the meanwhile.

That's true. But what if they released the Model A, and then six months later released an updated Model A with more features? The people who bought the first Model A might feel burned. OK, I'm done being negative. I agree with your point of view, and I believe that progress is good. Sorry, super tired and still struggling with all of the buggers in the General forum that are trying really hard to make people not enjoy this super awesome tablet. I wish there was a "View Positive Posts Only" option in the XDA.
one will be called the transformer light! tf201x and tf201xg (found this info in the honeycomb system files!)
I am thinking they might go with maybe a 10.1 inch, higher than 1080p screen made of superlight plastic along with a super IPS++ display! Kinda like how you had a DS lite! along with 2gb of ram...... Hopefully it will be able to be used with the same dock as the tf201!

I get what you're saying.
(I do want to point out though that it was almost the exact scenario between the first Model A and the first Model B...it was about 6 months between their releases back in 1903/1904.)
You just have to bite the bullet on technology purchases in general; find yourself something you want to buy, then realize that just after you unboxed it, it's no longer the top dog anymore.
I think what Adam is trying to say is it sucks doing research and sinking hard earned money into something that 6 months later will be yesterdays news. I know that's the way it goes but still kind of disappointing. I'm looking for that complete product. Gets expensive ebaying the old and sinking several hundred into another new product.
On another front for those RMA'ing the Prime for GPS issues and ASUS saying they will fix, could they be putting in a Beefier GPS like what's in the upcoming ones? Just a thought.

That is kind of weird, I would expect them to put more people on windows instead of android. I love android for what it is but I feel like windows is just a much more complete platform. I mean its a little early to judge how well windows 8 is going to run on ARM systems, if its anything close to the windows 8 I installed on my eee slate (ULV i5), then I think it's going be incredible.

The unfortunate cost of surfing the front wave of technology, right?
i plan on waiting for CES then if something cooler with way better specs comes out I will RMA my dock and tablet plus case to amazon (will only lose about 100 bucks...)
But they catch is it needs to be out within a few weeks after CES!
But anyways we all know we will have tegra4 this summer! kael+ so yeah technology is always moving forward! they never stop and try to squeeze all they life out of it like Game consoles have (ps3 and xbox now 5 years old!)
You just gotta get something stick with your purchase and be happy! then in a year to a year and a half sell it and buy something new!
I plan on buying the Galaxy Nexus when it is released on sprint! even though the next nexus will probaly be out 8 months later!
But i badly need the replacement i cant stand my evo 4g that wont charge unless you hold down the cord! its a pain in the but!
Plus i know the galaxy nexus software will be supported for atleast 20 months long enough to get me to my next upgrade!!
So if you want it buy it basically you cant stop better stuff from coming out!
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201
Those in the U.S., unless offered by a carrier, a 3G Prime will do you absolutely no good. HTC, LG, Sony, Acer, Archos, Samsung, and Motorola all already offer carrier-free 3G tablets, none of which are available in the U.S. You can import a 3G Prime from overseas but it'll cost you $700ish. If you get a carrier version, you'll either pay $700ish or have to commit to a two year data plan to get a subsidized price. So unless Asus does something that they nor any manufacturer have never done before, bring a 3G device to the U.S. without carrier support, the 3G announcement doesn't mean a whole lot here. And the iPad's not a relevant comparison. Apple dictates what the carriers do, not vice versa. Asus isn't Apple.
As for a higher spec 10" tablet that makes all the sense in the world. With the Lenovo and Acer already announced with higher-res displays, more RAM, and faster processors, Asus should offer a more premium tablet priced higher than the Prime to compete. Display resolution (whether it matters or not) is going to be the hot topic in tablets in 2012. Venturing a guess, I'd say the premium tablet won't have a keyboard dock still leaving that as the Prime's biggest singular feature.
In spite of all issues I am still buying prime. Why? I don't care about gps - i didn't intend to use it as gps-turn-by-turn device anyway, I love its performance, I love the fact, that we will get unlock tool, I hope we as xda-community will be able to run Win8 and Ubuntu on it.
In regard to other announced primes:
- 3g version - I have good internet plan on my mobile, even now I am just ad-hoc connected from my eee 1000he, i dont plan to sign any other contract for mobile carriers. They are literary robbing me every month anyway .
- HD version in H2. If it is announced for H2, it will be avalible in the week before Christmas in Q4, not a day sooner. I need tablet earlier.
HD screen? Why would you need it? -For movies? -For Christ sake it's a tablet, go to your living room and watch a move on 47'' LCD! If you are away from home - 720p should suffice.

Programs that currently run on Windows under x86/x64 technology won't run under the ARM version of Windows unless someone compiles a version specifically for ARM processors. In fact most information out there states that the classic desktop interface won't be available on the ARM devices, only the metro interface.
Its pretty screwey for a company to release improved versions of a tablet (in less than 6 months).
A lot of Primes have major defects (GPS is broken on all primes but GPS isnt the only defect some primes have), i was lucky and finally got one that seems perfect so far but I had to order two, first one was crap (bad wifi, bad bluetooth, slow performance, long bootup time, screen bleed and a lot of FCs in apps).
Even apple gives people at least a year before they drop on a new and improved product. To me it def sounds like bait and switch sales tactics...
Oh well, my prime now is working well (i don't need gps) and i don't see a reason to upgrade for at least a year.

See this is why windows 8 tablet edition is doomed.
The majority of people honestly believe they'll be getting the same windows they'd be getting on a desktop or laptop.
Windows 8 tablet is ARM, not x86. Meaning that you will only be able to run things developed or ported for ARM. You will NOT be able to just run any windows program.
It's yet another OS that needs things written for it specifically trying to play catch up with android and apples app market. I can't see it being useful at all for at least 6 months unless it's incredibly easy to port apps over, and I'm guessing it won't be considering you're looking at different APIs between OSes.
The only leg up this thing has over RIM, HP, and anyone else running something non ios/android is windows has name recognition and large market share in the x86 world. I imagine a lot of folks will be pissed to discover their exes won't just work on a tablet win8 though since I see folks constantly getting this wrong.
One of the things I like about the Prime is the price: $499 is still an industry-leading price for a leading-edge tablet with 32GB storage. I'm guessing that any sort of uber-Prime (HD screen, 2GB RAM, etc.) will be considerably more expensive.
I'm willing to go $650 for the Prime+keyboard dock. Anything more than that and I'd just bite the bullet and step up to an ultrabook and Kindle Fire combo.

Moment of Nostalgia

who remembers reading this (or similar post on a news site)?
wait scratch that, I can't post the link for engadget yet. Well anyways, this is all about my enlightenment about the Galaxy Note on September 1st
Man... those hot august nights, gave way to a cool fall breeze. Man, remember that? Yeah man... I feel like it was just yesterday. Just yesterday that I was checking out the devices featured at IFA, just yesterday when I saw this beauty. I headed over to the micro site samsung had created and watched that video. Sheesh, hard to imagine its been so many months. I had almost given up hope on seeing this beast, everyone said it wouldn't be coming to the US. I'm glad they were wrong.
Just wanted to share this precious moment with you guys.
Months after, I saw it at CES. It felt great in my hand, and I was really excited about when it would release. I didn't sadly get my caricuture from the booth, I was too busy using the phone. Can you believe all the SPens were gone when I went to check them out? How awful. Still it was a NOTEworthy experience. I absolutely loved it.
Fastforward to Feb. 5, and I preordered. HURRAY. What a long journey awaiting a phone.
Speaking of the GNOTE... I'm worried about my Best Buy preorder. Presidents day is Monday, and being the cheapo I am, I took the free shipping. That means if they use USPS (which they said they might), I'll have to wait until at least Wednesday, if I'm at home at the time of delivery. What a bunch of crap.
Well the wait is almost over. I'll be upgrading from an iPhone 4 (yay) after having an iPhone for close to 4 years now!
Well anyways, thanks for checking this thread out. Our wishes pretty much came true!
Welcome to XDA!
And you'll love the switch. I remember when I first switched from an iphone to an Android. Never looked back, even when the 4 came out.

Yeah, I can't wait! After my iphone 4, I almost switched to a dell streak because my iphone was frustrating me. I got my device switched and everything was fine. Then the atrix released and I talked to an At&t rep and almost switched again, but I decide to wait.
I'm glad the wait was worth it,now I get the GNOTE
and Thank you for the welcome , I'm a long time stalker, and have lurked the Iconia Tab forum a lot (since I got my iconia). I used to be on Androidtablet forums when they first came out 2 years back, but everyone really just stuck to xda so I decided to go back.
I'm not a completely iphone Sheeple (don't want xda to hate too much) though, I have an android tablet and post a lot on a Computer enthusiast's/builders forum.

Nothing wrong with liking iOS/preferring it to Android (though you're right to be afraid of people flaming you for stating such an opinion here ); both platforms have their advantages and I know lots of computer geeks who still prefer to use iOS over Android. Personally, my issue is with people who have the "cult of Apple" mentality and trash Android without any firsthand knowledge of the platform. I'm actually pretty surprised you went with an iconia over an iPad--if I were going to buy a 10" tablet it'd probably be Apple despite iTunes, just because of the general mess I've found Honeycomb and Android tablet apps to be, though of course I say this as an owner of zero tablets of any kind, so I guess I'm glad your Iconia's working out enough to bring you in on the phone front. Always good to have new blood in here, in my opinion.
what if the Iphone 5 has a 5 inch screen?
What will we do if the Iphone 5 has a five inch screen will you keep yur note or sell it on ebay and hope you can get enough for the new Iphone?

Never happen. Personally, I'd be surprised if the iPhone 5 has much over a 4" screen. There is no denying that the Note's size makes it a niche product, and there is no reason to believe that Apple's model for releasing a single iPhone at a time will change.

This exactly, I highly doubt they would. Considering Steve Jobs on multiple occasions bashed Android going for higher and higher screen sizes, I don't see his wants being trampeled on so quickly either. iPhone's will most likely stay at 3.5" for a long time.

Beyond bored of iOS. Beyond bored. 4 years of ownership is way too long to stick to something for me.

Buddy, you have no idea how much I agree with you about all this. I like both platforms, all for different reasons. I'd truly like MEEGO to have been popular, true Open source and extremely powerful linux distro had it any real dev support. Intel and Nokia were supporting it, there was hope. But that died with the N9, oh well.
Too many apple sheeple are out there, it just disturbs me. Back when there was donut and cupcake I understand. There were limited number of devices and they had problems, and the iphone 3G was one heck of a phone. I used to argue day and night with my best friend's with his G1 back in high school. But ever since 2.2 and the SGS and especially now, its almost silly to hate on android. Its a fantastic OS!
And I regret not getting an iPad a lot. I actually wanted the Asus TF101, and waited on release date. Little did I know Asus had supply issues, and barely had an initial supply for release day. It took 2 months for supply chain problems to get fixed. I got bored, and bought an Acer Iconia the next week.
I HATED HONEYCOMB SINCE 3.0.0! IT WAS AWFUL. Buggy as hell. But after many months, overclocking, Taboonay 2.1 Rom and 3.2, it is much better. Still a great device for content consumption such as netflix and youtube, which is all I use it for now. Browsing is still pretty slow. Dolphin's good, Firefox pisses me off by not having flash. Overall I like Opera even if its sunspider is not the best, it is fast! The build quality of the iconia is laughable. Fully aluminum construction my behind! IT feels like its made of plastic and will fall apart anyday. The camera cover (a common problem) just fell off within a month. I found out a cheap piece of tape was holding it together, a true testament to the quality of Acer. Garbage tablet. Garbage tablet OS.
I'm really excited about gingerbread though and ICS. my pops has an Epic 4G touch and its a great phone. ICS I had a terrible time with on the nexus at a VZW store, but that was before people knew to force gpu rendering. I like ICS for the most part, its fast and smooth, but it borrowed a ton from HC (expected) and eh..... I like gingerbread a lot, lets leave it at that.
Thanks for the welcome guys

Hello... new Transformer Prime owner..

I just thought I would say hello. I just got home with an Transformer Prime after selling my iPad 2 today for $500.. I recently came into the droid world after switching from iPhone 4S to the Epic 4G Touch, found it only fitting to join in with the tablets as well, especially since I wasn't impressed with the iPad 3 announced today.
Looking forward to learn all about this amazing little tablet and what I can do with it. Especially after learning all about Android and what I can do with my E4GT.

Welcome. I am a recent Prime owner too. Just got it 2 days back!
It is amazing that you got $500 on your iPad. So, you essentially used it for however long gratis! Or is it the $600 version?
Anyway, one thing about Apple's devices is that they hold their value well. I hope I can return my Prime for near MRP when I am done with it.
It was $629 originally it was the 16 gb 3G version, however they were all about to drop I am sure due to announcement so I am pretty sure I got in just in time.. Also AT&T 3G has been sucking here in OKC lately so I was thinking about getting a verizion 4G hotspot.
Thanks for the welcome, and welcome yourself..

[Slightly off topic] I am surprised that you are disappointed by the new iPad. Though the iPad 3 is dual core, it has the best GPU on the planet for a mobile device (the same as on the Vita). Should lend itself for some insane games and may be better overall performance. Dual cores should be enough to handle iOS I feel...

I was a little disappointed by the new iPad also. I got a prime in January and then sold it for what I paid for it because Android didn't have some apps I found I really needed for work and couldn't find good enough android replacements and because the TF201 problems bothered me a little. Of course the real dealbreaker app was released for android literally 2 days after I sold my prime but at that point I figured I should wait and see what I thought about the iPad 3.
And now it's out and I'll be honest I'm not too psyched by it. I mean don't get me wrong it's nice but I'm far from blown away. There's nothing especially exciting about it other than the screen and even that concerns me. Why are they still using 4:3 screens? Are widescreen videos going to be tiny on the screen or blown up possibly with video artifacts?
I would 100% buy a TF700 tomorrow if it was out. but now I'm stuck either waiting a couple (few? many?) months for a tf700, buying an iPad 3 or rebuying the TF201. And none of those ideas seem especially good to me right now. If there was a definitive release date for the TF700 or if the supposed hardware fixes for the TF201 were confirmed and explained, it'd be a lot easier decision for me.

Welcome to the club and please don't get sucked into all the angry owners on this forum... I am completely happy with every aspect of my prime and could care less for any IOS product.
