Cyanogenmod 7 released! - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Well, Celtic wanted to lightly push out the download to people as a little surprise. I decided I wanted to be an ass and let everyone know for a fact: CM7 has been released! This includes tons of bug fixes and it pretty much runs 100% except a few minor bugs here and there but pretty much everything has been fixed. Anyway, go check THIS THREAD for the download link Enjoy guys, credits to Team-B, the Testers, and myself. Good luck, and I'll see you on the other side.

True that. This made my day. I've been fighting with that stupid nook rom for way too long.

Excellent job folks. I'll definitely be donating a bit when I get my tax returns (which was supposed to be two weeks ago, but I'm still waiting!)
Thanks.

I'm sure i'll try it cause they made a great rom for my Evo so i'm sure this will be good, but why get excited over an Alpha build??? I could see if it was beta or final, but its just Alpha...unless its THAT good??

Just installed the new cm7 release and it is a beautiful thing! Very few problems and NO major issues for me. And the install was fantastic - can't imagine how it could get any easier or faster! Amazing job!

I haven't used the B&N Reader but I currently use Aldiko (actually paid for the premium version, but the free version works fine as well) and Kobo for all my reading, and I think both work great.

CM7 is a beautiful thing! I am now a PROUD owner of a Nook Tablet! The only problem I have is video playback being a tad choppy but I can live with that. It will be fixed sooner or later.
The Nook for Android on the Market IMO is 10 times better that the Nook for Nook Tablet!

I replaced the B&N reader app with Cool reader and im just glad that cool reader lets me scroll up and down to read instead of flipping pages. guess I am just use to scrolling a lot more then I am flipping pages since I read stories in a web browser a lot and they just have scrolling. hmm havent really checked on if the app keeps my place yet or not with it in scrolling mode hope it does

Hey guys, Just wanted to let you know I am working on releasing Blackhole 4.0, which will be based on the DL30 Froyo ROM, but to do so, and streamline my section of Rom Manager in the process, Current Blackhole ROM downloads will be unavailable for up to 48 hours. When it comes back up, my section of Rom Manager will still be a one-stop-shop for all your fascinate needs: mods, apps, themes, kernels, etc. but I will be cleaning out some older unnecessary stuff, and updating all the apps to their latest versions. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Working great so far, although i notice some lag when typing sometimes. Also, I never got a chance to customize anything, did I do something wrong? Some stock apps I wanted are missing but I figure I can probably just restore them from titanium backup.

[ROM-AOSP][05-25-11] Evervolv | GRJ22/Android 2.3.4 | v1.1.0b2 | More widgets!

Alright ladies and gentlemen, I am glad to finally bring you the Evervolv series of ROM's. This is an alpha build, however most, if not all items should be working. I'm going to keep this post vague and update it when the rom becomes beta worthy.
This rom would not be possible without the CM team, so i give them props any time i can.

Everything should be working as of now (with the small except to the Brightness widget, it's functionality is there... but the UI updating is not just yet). The Nexus One i have has no sim card, so i can't test everything. However English is the main supported language, if google hasn't added the language support, i haven't either. This means certain apps will have no support at all (i.e. Evervolv Settings). If there is someone that would like to contribue the efforts to languages, we'd be more than happy to have you aboard.

Is this CM7?
No, this is a build that started from AOSP. However, some of the fixes and few features have been derived from the CyanogenMod Team, including the CM kernel.

agree with this... this rom already support app2sd??
Liking so far. Its a breath of fresh air. Just something nice and new, really smooth and responsive.
It appears a2sd is not there? Maybe I'm wrong but under settings it said ext (unavailable).
Also, its a little eh that I can't change the dock settings (I know I can use LauncherPro and I probably will but I was trying to avoid that) because I use Chomp and DolphinHD so those dock shortcuts are useless.
Screen off animation is SWEET and boot animation is stellar.
Overall, seems very solid for a first release. I'll stick with it for now, assuming camera and camcorder work (I'm headed out to Sea World with the wife and son today/tomorrow so I need a functioning camera).
Great job and great release. I'll report back more Monday night when I get home and have used it for a few days.

Great rom. I love the font and bootanimation. Wish the rom had a2sd.

OK, so after a few days use I'm noticing a few things.
Battery life seems to be average, nothing special. I hardly used it at all as I was on a small vacation (didn't make any phone calls, hardly text at all, didn't take pictures, surfed the web very very lightly) and my battery would very quickly drop to the 80's in % and beyond. Although, this could possibly be associated to my next thing.
When charging, light on top is green (fully charged) when it hits 90% battery. It does continue charging to 100% but I found that very odd that it turns green to indicate full when its at 90%...
As stated, the font is very nice too. Everything overall seems smooth, especially for a first release. I'd be nice to see new releases soon, of course with a change log etc.
Looking forward to see what is to come.

Anyone feel like Beta Testing this morning?

Whats up peoples.
Looking for a few Beta Testers to give me some feedback. I got to playing with KB5 yesterday, and was impressed enough that I spent the night putting a little something together. In my initial testing, all apps are working. I still need to do a little more theming, but its fully functional. The build will probably strike Loki users as a very similar build, hey, I know what I like, so thats what I do, and KB5 is very impressive.
Whats Included:
-Stripped down (no bloat, very little Twiz) deodexed KB5
-Overstock 1.4.3
-KA6 Modem
-Rooted, Superuser
-Themed
-Does have Whitehawks recent KB5 Lock Screens, although I'm thinking of going Android Lockscreen only in the near future
-FuguTweaks, Darky's Memory Tweak, zipalign on boot
-Miui Music Themed, and the apps and mods you've come to expect from my previous work (only a better camera this time around)
For those interested in Beta Testing, Send me a pm, and I'll send you a link. This will be a closed test, only the first ten or twenty will be provided a link, so please be able to flash and provide feedback today. Not trying to be high and mighty, I honestly think its ready to go out there, just want a few more opinions before I post it.
sure it'll be fun.

Good to hear. Yeah, beta, I just built it last night, lol. Battery should follow results for Overstock with no OC. I was surprised by the gps as well, I did no mods to it, these are the files that came with KB5. If I hear similar good results from others who are now testing this, I'll probably put it up tonight or tomorrow in the dev section.

You are good people and I am sure your Rom will reflect that. Thanks for your work on this and can't wait to see where it goes and especially can't wait until it is based on AOSP. I think you and I think a lot alike man.
So we'll be able to run Ubuntu without a computer or we will still need to? I only ask because my laptop is messed up and won't stay on for long but either way thanks for the rom sounds like it will be promising!

Hey guys I'm off to meet with the BRP sound designer. We don't get to meet in person often anymore, about 5 states between us now. I'm not sure how the nights gonna play out, might be putting a few back. If I don't end up back at my desktop tonight (quite possible) I'll up v0.2 in the morning. I'm running it now and I must say its pretty damn cool.

What can I use the Lapdock for, now that I am on CMx?

The good old Smiley, to make the reading happier:
I am looking for suggestions.
What could I use my Lapdock for, now that I made the switch to CyanogenMod?
Is there a good solution for making the VNC'ed ARM Ubuntu (look for Ubuntu Installer in the Play Store) work better with the touchpad? Should I sell it? Is there a solution to make remote control apps such as TeamViewer or Splashtop integrate with the Lapdock's keyboard and touchpad? Is there any way to make the device switch to Tablet mode without rebooting? That would be rather interesting to see. By the way, the CM9 ROM I am currently running has got Landscape HDMI working flawlessly, so that should not be an issue...
PS: Please do not ignore this thread. Any suggestions are welcome! (Use your common sense though)

I've struggled with the same question on my photon.. If there's working hdmi rotation on your CM, you can still use it for typing out documents, etc. I also used the mirror mode to watch movies on a larger(than phone) screen in bed.
But eventually I just decided to go back to a blur rom and use ubuntop (which is awesome) while waiting for official ICS and someone hopefully porting ubuntu 12.04 to webtop..
Paranoid Android Rom
I don't understand why canonical hasn't leaked that awesome ubuntudroid system they showed off.. there isn't an easier way to get feedback especially since webtop has died and windows 8 is pushing hard into that whole 'blur the lines' market

Maybe they are waiting for the unified linux/android kernel 3.4 this would most certainly make it easier to port and updates trivial.

Currently, I use it for watching movies as well, and I am looking forward to pairing a Wii Remote and/or a DualShock® 3 to my Atrix™, so that I can play some games such as GTA III and Shadowgun (Max Payne *-*) on the big screen.
I was happy with Blur until the day I ran into that tempting CM9 thread. I did not know what smoothness and responsiveness really were. Blur was the smoothest I thought it could ever get... But I was wrong, and now I have to choose between fluidity and Webtop.
I actually went back to Blur some months ago, but unfortunately, prolonged use of ICS can cause dependence. Believe it or not, I was pretty happy with Blur. Webtop was working flawlessly, I even had BackTrack installed, but then came the relapse: I could no longer resist to ICS. I am now back to CM9, and with it comes my dilemma...
I am looking for a way to use the Atrix™ as a more desktop-ish platform when docked (especially to the Lapdock). I believe the ideal would be Ubuntu through a local VNC client, or a remote desktop app, I just wish they would play nicer with the keyboard and touchpad...
Basically, something like a key mapper (easy-to-use, I am still unable to figure out WiiMoteController's key mapping scheme) for Lapdock's hardware. We could make a keyboard-powered Ouya!
What still concerns me though, is that games would not be optimized for it e.g. Minecraft PE, games where the camera angle for example, is controlled by dragging the screen, so it would have to be a really powerful, but easy-to-use key mapper, and since you can't have everything in life, I'm afraid I'm asking for much...

When the official Ubuntu for Android was announced, even though an Atrix 2 was used for the hands-on part, on the project's official hotsite... It was clearly an Atrix™ 4G standing there on the dock. The differences between our device's design and the Atrix 2's or the Defy's (Defy+'s) are not that obvious, but they are, indeed, noticeable.
You do know what that means, don't you? It means it is almost certain that our device will be on the first batch of officially supported devices!
I don't if the Atrix™ is still there, but if it's not, I can try to find the screenshot I took if you'd like.
I am so proud!

I have never thought I'd say this but, "Please don't get off-topic". I'd appreciate it if this gets settled in a new thread or via PM.
Anyway, you said "stock UbunTop", I could be wrong, but I think it's either stock or UbunTop, which is a mod born right here on our neighbor forum, Android Development.
If yours is really stock, I suggest you get BackTrack from the BackTop project, I don't it's got aircrack built-in, and I was unable to install it, so unless you're an experienced hacker, don't get too excited with BackTrack's features, but my point is: It is amazingly faster than Webtop, it seems lighter, I used to be able to run more than 3 different apps simultaneously...
If yours is really running UbunTop I'm afraid I cannot assist you, since webtop2sd never worked for me and BackTop and WebtopMOD were the only I could ever manage to get working on my device...

I can answer this. What he meant is that you should use Paranoid. Paranoid is a rom thats an hybrid of a phone an a tablet, in short words, you can activate tablet mode for some apps, while some other apps still run in phone-mode, for the ease of use.
What I actually meant was to give a name and a designation, which I did.
Google paranoid android rom and you get the website, the website has a much better explanation then I could or should have to provide.
But yes in short it can give you a tablet UI on lapdock.
