Stock messenger and mail apps - HTC Rezound

If I install go messenger and enhanced email can I freeze the stock messenger and email apps in titanium or will that screw up my phone? Thx!

GO Messenger, and other similar 3rd party apps, still require the core app to function. GO is just an interface. So you don't want to do anything to the stock app.
Enhanced Email though is its own stand alone app. So you should be fine to freeze the stock one.

You can just turn off notifications if they are bothering you.

Yahoo Messenger update and Facebook messenger integration

So I took an update to Yahoo Messenger and was interested to see the Facebook IM integration. Strangely, it never seems to be able to login to FB. Anyone got this working?

I've since uninstalled and gone with ebuddy. Seems is the only one not located in Korea! Anyway, it's good for what I want and brings lots of IM sessions under one app.

Add k-9 app to 'complete using'

DL'd k-9 mail app because of how good ppl say it is. It is nice but if i click on email icon under a contact to email the contact (i have cleared default under stock email app) k-9 is not listed as an option under 'complete action using'. Same thing for buddies now and any other email action. Ive searched for a resolution for this and have found nothing except reinstall app which i did. Any suggestions?
Running stock rom rooted, with launcher pro as my launcher

I got it. Had other email apps installed (stock, gmail, hotmail). Froze them with Titanium Backup and then K-9 then showed up in the complete action using dialog box. Guess it only shows a few of your choices and not all choices if you have over 4 or so. Now i can delete the other apps.

[Q] For those of you with Gmail accounts...

Will you be using the gmail app or the stock email app?
The stock app has that cool 2 paned viewing thing, (inbox on one side, emails on the other) but the gmail app was made for gmail. I was just wondering what you guys prefer.

I myself don't like using multiple apps to access all my mail accounts. If I can get away with adding all my accounts to a single mail client then that's the route I'm taking regardless of the various features and benefits the individual apps themselves might have. I like to keep things simple.
Gmail app.
Very good label support
I use both!

I'm with you. I like everything in a nice, neat package.
I use the GMAIL App, to keep things simple and not all over the place.
I have always used the Gmail app. I have all my emails come into one place instead of trying to look through different apps for email. Centralized and consistent. Plus I love the labeling feature.
Gmail app is trash. I don't understand how come doesn't offer zooming and icon or widget notification. Stock does. I guess is another dumb apple patent conflict crap.

Is there a way to only get notified of mail in your priority inbox. The Gmail app system it supports this, but it doesn't. There are almost no settings at all! You used to be able to set a custom notification tone, too...:banghead:

You can search Play Store. You'll find something you like there rather than ask others for suggestions. Try K-9 mail.

Facebook profile pictures

After upgrading to 4.0 all programs except stock contacts and text no longer show Facebook profile pictures. I use GoContacts, Handcent sms and Gmail. None of these display to contact pictures for Facebook contacts. The contact pictures is blank. I have contacted all the companies and they all blame Facebook. Any ideas?

it is facebook. they locked down that part of there API. you have 2 options to get them back:
1. buy Haxsync from the market place. Its only $.99 and it works great.
2. download an app called Photo Unlocker, it was developed by ChainsDD. It is no longer in the market so you will need to search Google for it. For this to work you need to make sure your contacts are synced already with Facebook fully, run the app, it will ask for root. then it will show if the data base is busy or not. some times you will need to click unlock a bunch of times for it to work.
Loaded Haxsync. The only program that sees it is contacts. Does not work with third party programs. Handsent, go contacts and gmail.

i use handsent and go contacts and the both see them on mine. try going to:
system > app > find the 2 apps and clear cache from them.
I just installed Callapp the new social dialing app that is supposed to work great with face book. It doesn't show Facebook contact photos either. This all started the second I upgraded to ICS.

I've just downloaded HaxSync and I'm sync'ing now. I'm using a beta version of Contacts+ for my address book. We're about to find out if my contact photos import from Facebook like they used to before the API change. If this works, I'll be reporting back on my beta results.
And the verdict is...
IT WORKS (for about 90% of my Facebook contacts that had missing photos)!! Thanks for the tip!
It took a day, but the HaxSync did work. Had to rename a few contacts to the same as in Facebook. Working good with Go Contacts and Handcent.
Thanks!

I did get it working with all of my Facebook contacts. I had to rename a few to the same name as in Facebook.

In hax there's an option on how accurate it needs to be. Go into the setting for "fuzziness" just don't hit the last option in it. Trust me lol

I am using FriendCaster and supposedly it has option of syncing Facebook photos to contacts too. Haven't tried it yet
