Ghost armor - HTC Amaze 4G

I was just wondering around and found this: http://www.ghost-armor.com/HTC/717.html
i was actually surprised to see our devices were supported since we dont have otterbox or seidio.
has anyone tried this?

There are a couple references to the product if you search. I wish there was a kiosk in Houston. I would try one if it was installed by someone who has done it dozens of times. I doubt I could get it right on my own and good installation is key to these things looking good.

Likin' the white carbon fiber...idk about spending that much for some sticky plastic tho..

I have owned Ghost Armor on my old TP2 and my current Dinc.
As far as the back cover goes, I really don't see how much it really protects. Just basically lets you keep the same feel of your phone and look (clear protector) and protects from scratches.
The screen protector, I feel is one of the best available. If you install it correctly you barely know it's there.
As a test I took my Touch Pro 2 and rubbed the screen all over the cement sidewalk, the screen was still the same as when I bought it used. Also makes scratches on your screen disappear. The ghost armor seems to go back to its normal form and it was left almost brand new with faint scratches. I recommend it to anyone.
And, they offer a life time guarantee no matter what. Just pay shipping/install fee.
How do you guys like your Amaze? I'm looking to buy one and switch to t-mobile, as I'm on PagePlus and can get more for the same price.
And as for the price of the "Stick Plastic" It is fairly expensive $20 for the screen, but you can replace it as much as you want. I normally got a new one every 2-3 months just for the heck of it. It doesn't leave your screen with anything sticky either.

Yeah if their put on right they're amazing, nearly invisible.
Worth the money all the way. When you go to sell the phone a lot of the time the main selling point is the screen. Back cases can always be replaced and cases cover up sides.

Nice to see a fellow houstonian on the board! My brother ordered it for his GS2 - very simply install! He did it himself.

I was talking about Ghost Armor. They have kiosks too.

A little late on this one, but I would like to say I am happy with my Ghost Armor.
I was in SF and they have a kiosk at the Serramonte Mall. So I happen to be in town with my new Amaze and I first went looking for Zagg because I had great experience with them. But the 2 locations I called didn't have anything available in stock for the Amaze.
So I was walking the mall and saw Ghost Armor. 15 bux for the front screen protector and 5 bux to install. I figure I would let the guy put it on. He put it on and baked the phone for a little bit and it came out looking fantastic. It feels great and I would recommend them. They also say the material is forever warrantied. And as long as you have most of it left, you can bring it to a kiosk and pay 5 bux and they will install a new piece of armor. And I am going to assume that is pending availability of the product.

do they actually "bake" it? i dont like the sound of that lol

They put it in a type of air circulation box, not really baking it, but speeding up the process of evaporating the water they used to apply the protector.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA

it does seem to somewhat "bake" it though. the box circulates air but it also produces a certain amount of warmth, kinda get iffy whenever I have a replacement screen protector applied.
that said, it works far better than zagg (which ive used for all of my previous devices) the only downside is that it produces small visible dents in the screen protector after time, none that inhibit the safety of the device but do take away from the aesthetic of the screen.

Bake was probably the wrong word... They do put it in some sort of box and the phone does come out warm. They do turn the phone off before applying the screen protector. The warmth of the phone from the treatment would be similar how warm a phone gets after some extensive usage.

Zagg Invisible Shield

Hey everyone, I made this post to ask around and see if anyone has tried out the ZAGG Invisible shield for the Mytouch Slide, and what do you all think about it.
I'm thinking of buying it but would like to get some feedback first.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
I have it on my slide it has allready saved my screen my daughter dropped mine and it scratched the screen shield and it saved my screen. They have a lifetime warranty they are a little difficult to put on so if you are getting it at a store let them do the install and whatever you do make sure you leave your phone of for 12 to 24 hours. 1 is it helps and all the bubles realease and 2 they use a liquid spray on each piece when they install it.And you dont want anything wet when you turn it back on. I swear by mine. And I live in Utah where they are headquartered.I have an in so I get alot of free skins and stuff.
I wont use any protector that requires a spray or water to apply the protector. I'm waiting for the plastic static cling protectors to come out. I used them on my G1 all the time and they are simple to put on without any bubbles and plus the are pretty cheap. These new rubbery screen protectors feel weird, they say its some high tech military material or some garbage. I just want a simple plastic protector that sticks to the screen with no solution. There's a ton for the G1 I dont know why they havent released any for the slide yet.
I'm not too sure about Invisible Shield, but I recently installed a bodyguardz full body protector on my slide and so far I love it. The major advantage I see over invisible shield is that, for about the same price, bodyguardz gives you two sets of protectors in case you botch the first installation (which I did). Overall, after a few days after the second installation I only have a few small bubbles and I actually love the feel of it overall... since installing the protector, I have found it much more easier to type accurately in swype, but that may just be me. There is also no negative effect on the touch screen in any way if you were worried about that.

Thanks a lot! I actually never even thought to check T-Mobile and the last time I checked e-bay all I could find are those new ones that require that spray or water. I just bought these http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Category=20336&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=2 I'll let you guys know how they are. I can also tell you NOT to order these http://www.amazon.com/EZguardZ-T-Mo..._1_1?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1278542660&sr=8-1 I bought them and they are trash, literally thats where they ended up in my trash lol.
Thanks for the info, and everyone's feedback, I went ahead and decided to get the ZAGG shield full body, try it out and see what happens, I tried the T-mobile ones and they just had too many scratches too quick, hopefully ZAGG won't let me down.

invisable shielde
whats up man. i just wanted to let you know about my personal expirences with invisible shields. i personally have had one on every htc phone ive ever owned (touch pro, touch pro II, HD2, and now the mytouch slide 3G) and i love pretty much everything about them. they seriously are nearly scratch proof and honestly, during a fall it will protect your phone for the most part. installation can be a pain in the a$$, but you just have to brave about it and use plenty of the spray. use it ilberally on the actual shield and your finger-tips and it will make it pretty easy to position it. on the back peice just go ahead and soak that thing cuz its hard to get it right the first time. luckily if you do mess up, these things come with a lifetime replacement warrenty. all you have to do is give them back the old shield and they'll hook you up with a brand new one . once you figure it out though you'll appreciate it a lot. it gives the phone a really nice feel and it keeps it really well protected. me personally, i like to pair a full body invisible shield with a regular t-mobile screen protector. the reasoning behind this is, one, that ive discovered that it is nearly impossible to get the screen portion of the invisible shield on without bubbles underneth it for some reason (possibly because of how slick the screen is compared to the body of the phone?). and two, a touch screen is meant to be glided around on. it should be nice and slick and feel extremely smooth tothe touch, not all rubbery and sticky when warm. and finally, because it just plain looks better, straight up. your not going to get the same clean look of the plastic protector as you are from an invisible shield. yes the standard protectors are easier to scratch, but thats why they come in three packs. so you can replace em when nessesary. i find it easiest to place the protector down on the screen and position it properly, then take a piece of scotch tape and tape the side. that way you can peel up the backing and lay it down properly with a credit card as to get it perfectly positioned and without bubbles. if you follow my instructions you should be able to install with ease . ive really liked every invisible shield ive had, and the only problem ive found with them is that after time the edges of the shield will get dirty because of the adhesive on the back slowly being pressed out over time. that and the edges sometimes come up. but thats why they come with a warrenty, so you can replace em all you want . i tend to replace mine every 4 to 6 months. in the end i found that its a worth it investment if your the kind of person that wants to protect your phone but doesnt want to add a bunch of bulk to the phone from a case. it really allows the beauty of the phone to come out while still being protected. anyways, i hope my review will help you with your installation and help anyone else reading with their choice on wheather or not to purchase an invisible shield. i really like mine, and i hope you like yours too. enjoy
I have had the invisible shield on my last 3 phones and it is clean, discrete and it does everything that it is suppose to. I personally pay the extra money to have the representative put it on for me and call it a day. You will not be disappoint in the product and the others are just plain cheap and inefficient.

new owner

hi guys,
getting my new evo3d on wednesday. Just upgraded from my beloved hd2 which i had for 2 years. She was a beaut. This forum its members and developers were a pure godsend.
However, after seeing this phone on offer for £229 it felt wrong not to buy it. So hopefully you guys will help me get the most out of this new phone as i did out of my old.
cheers.
Indeed, mine should be arriving Thursday from Asda. The wife is getting my Desire.
Step one for me is to go into the clean room at work and apply my screen protector lol
Step two I guess is to charge and get sense setup how I like it
Welcome fellas
---Jay--- From the CM9 powered 3D
howdy mr paul. it was too good a deal to turn down, eh?
regarding the protector i always had murders applying my old ones. I found the best way was in a steamy bathroom clean the screen as best as possible with the cloth and then blow on the screen to remove any residual dirt/dust fragments whilst laying the protector on.
You are right about sense. the amount of times i had to redo it with all the wonderful roms on my old phone.
edit - thanks jay.
Welcome aboard indeed. Coming from those phones you should find everything fairly easy here. Solid guides in the dev roll up sticky to get started.

you should look up a company called ghost armor
polyurethane screen protector, so thin you don't even know it's there.
if you know anything about polyurethane, it's tensile strength, and other applications it is used for... you will see why it is by far the best form of screen protector out there.
thanks sarge.
@cobraboy85 that ghost armour is that the same stuff as the zagg invisible shield? I tried that on my hd2 but i could not fit it properly. If it is more a case and a screen protector then it sounds great.

I've use 2 brands all the time and have no complaints.
First is the more durable skinomi one I used on my EVO4G. http://www.skinomi.com/
That thing could take a serious beating and you can't beat the warranty.
The next is what I have on my phone right now and thats the SGP Steinheil screen protector.
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/htc.html
The later was easier to install and a little thinner btw.
I used to use screen protectors religiously for a couple of years but never used one on my Evo 4G nor my 3D. Have never had a scratch on the screen. The screen protectors always seemed to take away from the feel of the phone for me. Just my 2cents, try it without one.
I use the matte ones that a finger-print resistant. However; I just recently removed it because I ordered 4 new ones, and I'm liking the way my screen looks without it. Much nicer.
I always use Martin Fields screen protectors, always found them to be fantastic.
Yes the Asda deal is bloody great!
Im also coming over from a HD2 because of the ASDA deal.
I love the HD2 and how that has evolved over the last 18 months, just hope the EVO 3D will be just as great an investment.
Hopefully with the price drop of the EVO 3D GSM and the flood of new owners, development will really start to boom, who knows may even surpass the CDMA forum
Looks like there are some great devs producing some fantastic ROMS already. In addition, we have ICS potentially on the horizon!!
Happy Days ahead one hopes
Yea EVO 3D us cool phone, I love it, had it for 4 months...

Anyone have the ZAGG- InvisibleSHIELD?

So my 2 day old Note has a hairline scratch that is only visible with the screen off in the right light. I am told that if I get this screen protector it will more than likely hide the scratch, and obviously prevent new ones. I'm curious to hear if others have this and like it. I have never used a screen protector because I don't like the way they look and feel, but apparently this screen is very easily scratched, despite me only keeping it in my pocket by itself.

Yes it does and it kinda sucks, I always buy BSE skins (Best skins ever) but they only have the international version atm.
Have the Zagg Dry Invisi-Shield installed on mine, front and back protection, and both he dry and wet install shields leave little indented marks when you use the s-pen because they are soft. At first its barely noticeable but the little grooves build up over time. Just something to consider, depending on how much you use the s-pen.

I went to Best Buy and and exchanged the phone for a new one because of the scratch and bought the InvisibleShield. I'm not crazy about the Orange Peel look, but it's better than the scratched screen look.
i have the shield on mine as well........after having the rocket for 5 months and not having a case nor a screen protector i had to get one for the notes awsome screen.
and the S-pen is Great. i use it for texting and everything. the write to text is pretty accurate and fast when you get used to it. my only gripe is that with the Zagg shield the pen does not flow quite as smoothly so it hickups here and there when not applying just the right amount of pressure.
I actually wish that it had the physical home button like the Intl version. I saw some neat tips and tricks -such as disable touch screen -which would be great for movies, etc -especially with children...
I went with the Rearth Ringbo screen cover. Cant comment since I ordered it this AM.

I was 1 click away from ordering that. I ended up with the SGP because I didn't know which was better. I haven't done screen protector shopping in a while. Is the Rearth better than

I just learned after buying the Invisible Shield that even though they offer a lifetime "free" replacement, it costs $4 for them to ship it to you and you have to pay to ship it back. In what world is that free?
I bought the invisible sheild today from bestbuy. Not really liking how it feels "tacky" compared to the slick glass. Something to keep in mind when considering purchasing it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
I bought the Zagg tonight, installed it and thought I had it on perfect! Was all proud of myself. Went to go turn the screen on and all these rainbow colors and weird looking dots all over between the screen and shield! I was so pissed. I think I sprayed too much of their liquid on. I should have just paid Best Buy to install. What a waste of money. $22 down the drain.
bought some screen protectors on Amazon to get here Thursday and then 6x off of eBay. I don't care if I have to replace one a month. I'm not spending $20 anymore on one screen protector.
Zagg has also started making an HD version of there screen protector, this one does not give you the orange peel look like the old ones. Right now i think it is only for the Iphone but give it some time they will probity start making them all like that.

Is a case really necessary?

Obviously any case will offer more protection, and this was a very expensive phone no doubt... But I dont want to get a case other than switching out the replacement back battery cover, because once you put a case on it, it makes it even larger or my hands. I love the thin profile of the note 3 and with gorilla glass it wont scratch easily, Im super careful when I set it down on flat surfaces and if I drop it well thats the chance I'll take. I also like the chrome accents and the silvery edge that goes all around the phone, any case besides a replament back cover will obviously cover the silver fake metal sides that go all around the phone.
so is this a question? looks like you already made your decision on the matter.
obviously, any accessory is an option, not a requirement. accidents happen. cases protect the phone in those incidents. it'll also keep the original housing of the phone in better condition than the usual wear and tear if you're looking to sell it later on.
If you choose not to use a case, that's perfectly fine.

I'd love to go naked, the thin profile of this phone is terrific. But I'm too scared so this is why i like the official Samsung flip covers that replace the back cover. They maintain the thin profile but at least offer some more protection than going naked. As a great bonus they turn the screen on and off when you open and close the cover respectively.
Its not if you don't plan to sell anytime soon. Screen protectors degrade image quality and most non OEM cases look tacky.
I got the slim fit spigen case. Initial trial of it, although it's probably not adding a whole lot of weight, it feels like it is compared to when I was running naked for the first couple weeks while waiting for it to come in. I've since opted to run naked. I do have a slim armour spigen coming in for days where I will be a bit more active or if I'm mounting it onto something.
IMO, flip cases are annoying because I snap photos all the time, and the flip cases simply get in the way requiring me to hold it with two hands when other cases just one hand operation to snap works. As well unless it's the s-view ones, its super annoying to flip open everytime you want to check something small like the time.
My phone itself is naked.
I can't stand flipcases, as the flap keeps getting in the way of everything. (I'm a woman, so I have even less chance of holding it in one hand, Meaning I always have the flap in the palm of my hand.)
Screen protectors look ugly, are a nightmare to apply and reduce the screen quality. My phone goes nowhere near my keys, so it's not needed.
I am keeping an eye out for an aluminium backcover, but so far there's very little of them. Those that are available don't ship outside the US.
I do keep the phone in a walletcase when it's in my pocket or on the table. This way I can lay it on top of the case so I don't scratch the camera: http://shop.golla.com/epages/Golla.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Golla/Products/G1406
I admire you naked guys really, I don't dare that my 700€ device could drop and brake. It's a huge device in hand and if you do a work that is hard the phone eventually will drop, also you cannot grab it fully with 1 hand. Offcourse I love also the slim naked feel of it but I don't risk it. Atm I have a clear bumber and a tempered tr glass till my Spigen case arrives and I feel secure.

It's silly to not have a case on a $700 device that you use throughout each and every day. I work in cellular retail and every time someone brings in a broken smartphone without a case I ask them about it, and their response is always along the lines of "I'm always super careful and this has never happened before!" and half the time they don't have insurance either.
Accidents happen, which is why they are called accidents; no one can be 100% sure they won't have a careless moment. Not to mention sometimes it's someone ELSE'S carelessness that can end with your phone being broken.
Verizon has a thin shell case (with optional holster) that provides a little grip, a handy kickstand, and most importantly a bit of a raised edge along the screen and camera. It probably won't help much for a 6 ft drop on concrete, but it's definitely better than nothing at all and will at least help prevent scratches if you are against screen protectors.

If you give someone else your $1000 phone, even to hold for a second, you're an insult to evolution and would do well to remove yourself from the gene pool.

Uhm. That someone ELSE is very often a child, so a case is necessary, and, genes already passed on, jackalope.

I was not referring to you in person.
But letting a child hold your 1000 dollar phone is even more idiotic.... I would not let it hold a 200 dollar phone, let alone something that costs more than the average car.
Also, what's a jackalope?

2nd......what's a jackalope....sounds like a coded curse parent's use. I shall remember!
my last three main daily driver phone I ran naked. Asus PDA (plastic screen), T-Mobile dash, HTC evo 3d. There were some other pretty boss phones in that mix of the last ten years but those were the phones I loved. Non of them had screen protectors or cases. I got my NOTE3 and now I have been protector/case concerned. The device is just so thin and so jewelry like that I'm going to wrap it up tight and see if it adversely effects the experience. Not Otterbox tight, I never understood that methodology. I'm going glass screen protector and slimmest of cases. Unles there is an artful reason to do otherwise which I think is possible. But I need a Golla bag without Zipper or carbineer, just dual belt loop. A saggy bag with a big velco flap that I can use as a transport mechanism. Hard clip holsters suck. I want padded sliding desert bag style low profile, that I set on my belt in the morning with loops and forget about until night. A few years ago Golla had that exact thing. Now they don't. I'm just going to sew myself what I want out of canvas until the market catches up. Horizontal belt clip? are you kidding me?
1 question? Are you mad? This phone? Naked? This is a precious baby you don't go naked with this. It's that awesome I'm waiting for the otterbox.

No, not very likely; I'm asexual. Me having children is something that'll never happen.
I occasionally teach 6-12 year olds for a day. (a few friends of the family are primary school teachers, they sometimes ask me to do photography, tech or design classes for them.)
Not a chance in hell am I letting them touch my phone. Or my tablet. Or my laptop. Or my camera. Or anything else that could easily be damaged.
Also, according to Google a jackalope is a rabbit with antlers.. Is Google on drugs or is that actually correct?

Your $700 N3, wait I mean $1000 N3 costs more than the average car? You don't let anyone touch your phone? My girl can use it anytime she wants, if she needs it. My godson could as angry birds on it anytime as well... It's only a phone. It's insured, and of not, easily replaceable. The day any material possession becomes more valuable than a person in my life, is a sad day indeed.
PS- I absolutely love my phone too. Just not as much as people in my life.

Yes, 1025 USD, it's 750 euros here. Welcome to Europe.
I'm 22, you don't seriously think people my age can afford cars over that price I should hope. Certainly not in this economy.
I suppose that's the difference, I don't have such people in my life.

Scratched rim around the screen - any tips?

Guys, I need help. I've bought a used RAZR HD a month and a half ago and it was in a very good condition. 9/10, maybe even 9.5. had just a scratch or two on the rim around the screen.
Since then, I've dropped it onto concrete two times and on both occasions in went corner down, so now I've got two completely wrecked corners. Nothing else is broken, it's all fine, the kevlar back is pretty much mint, the screen is great, it's just that rim that is now completely ruining the look of the phone...
Did anyone face the same problem and what have you done to fix it, if anything? The only idea I've got now is to sand down the rim to be at level with the screen, that would possibly make it look good again. Naturally, I'd be very careful as to not scratch the screen...
Can that rim be replaced anyway? I'll check out the disassembly guides and videos now to see whether it goes together with the screen...
I'm so annoyed right now. The second drop happened minutes ago... God flipping damn it. The problem is that Moto's have not been widely used here in Serbia for years now and that makes the availability of any equipment for them more than scarce. I'll be ordering a universal case right now (the one in which you slide the phone in and out) but I'd still love to make it look good again.
Flipping damn it
*edit*
According to this video... It's glued very very strongly together - http://youtu.be/LfAyttf6fWU
That's just great... And I can't even find a silicon case, be it no name or branded, to cover it all up. Will see if I can order anything from across the border.

Was this with a case on the phone or with the phone not in a case? Just curious as I have my phone in a case and have dropped it on the corner and no issue like you describe. In fact, no scratches at all.

The phone was bare naked, mate. I haven't got any kind of case as of yet
*edit* Here goes a couple of picture, so someone could relate... I'm so annoyed that I've put it up for sale. If nobody takes it, I'll be sanding the rim/bezel. Perhaps all around, perhaps just this corner, not sure for now...

i recommend an otterbox defender, got mine off amazon for 20 dollars and because they are guaranteed for life i have gotten two replacements for free. i have dropped my phone off a 12 foot ladder and have thrown it against walls( dont ask) and have zero scratches or dents. phone is in mint condition.

This would be it, right - http://youtu.be/Eg5qkRCm5pU ? But, doesn't it turn what is already a quite a big phone into a massive one? Because it certainly seems so I'm guessing this cannot fit a pocket of any sort of pants? But it does seem to offer outstanding protection. Alas, at what a price, both functionality and monetary-wise (the price is $40+ on amazon?)... But even if I wanted to spend that amount of money on a case, I'd have to keep my fingers crossed for probably no less than a month, hoping that it will eventually arrive, intact and without many additional fees. Third world problems...
Thanks for the advice, anyway! I might pick up the Commuter edition, it seems more reasonable for my needs

yes thats it, im in construction so i went with defender, my sister has commuter and it seems to offer a level of protection for most peoples uses (2-3 foot drops) and yes it does make the phone bigger so if thats a concern i would go with commuter, also the screen protector on the defender is part of the case but with the commuter its a stick on screen protector if that matters to you( i can never get those to go on without wrinkles) i beleieve the 40 $ ones are the black ones bc otterbox stopped making them i bought a black one for 20$ 6 months ago

Thanks for the information once again, mate! And, yeah, I just figured out that there are different versions. The one with pink details is the cheapest...damn
We'll see how I can get my hands on one. The shipping fees are going to be higher than the price of the case itself, ffs :/

Here's what I have (well, it's the same style but mine is a Body Glove that I purchased from Walmart but I cannot find it anywhere online):
http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Mat...9233999&sr=8-2&keywords=motorola+razr+hd+case
It's worked well so far. I've dropped my phone a couple of times, once face down and maybe two times on the side and/or corner, and my phone has been protected.
Overall, it adds a little bulk, but nothing like an Otterbox. I can put this into my pants pockets without much issue.

This is very much like the generic cases available here for most smartphones, priced at $2-3. Would you say that your case has a premium quality and is worth the higher price? Because I've found those generic ones available together with free shipping on eBay. But I know how lousy their protection and appearance are, so I'm still weighing my options.

Again, that is not exactly the case I have, but I purchased it at a Walmat department store for about $14.
It feels rubbery and it's flexible when the phone is not in it. Mine says "Body Glove" on it but I cannot find it on their site (they don't list any cases for the Droid RAZR HD).
Overall, I wouldn't say it's premium quality (not like I had with my Otterbox cases for my OG RAZR MAXX that I used to own), but it does seem to do the job for me. As I said, I've dropped the phone face down with the case I have (which is similar to the one I linked to on Amazon) and the phone came out unscathed. It was about a three foot drop onto the concrete floor in my garage if that gives any indication.

Another vote to the Diztronic - it would cover that damage and will prevent the same type of damage when you drop it again. Mine has lived in one of these since I got it and gets tossed around all the time. Has landed face first a few times and has not skipped a beat thanks to the raised lip.

Thanks, mate. The Diztronic looks wonderful compared to the chinese "s-line" thing I bought because of free shipping... It's just crap and it doesn't even cover the edges properly - the left one is fine, but it cannot stay on top of the right one. Check the picture for illustration. I'll be sure to get the Diztronic one in the future. Can you just tell me whether its rubberised or is it just the matte finish making it look as if though it were? Because it looks like it is and that it's insanely sticky and that I wouldn't be able to stick it in my pocket, but I guess it's just the matte finish
