Dual Pocket Sleeves? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hey all,
I'm right on the trigger to finally get a Prime (sadly I can't find a dock anywhere, but one step at a time).
Anyway, I've been thinking that I'd like to get a sleeve for protection and easy transport, but that I won't always be using the dock. Connecting them is one option, but just to put it away and pull it out again when I'm not using the dock seems like too much of a pain (and unnecessary wear and tear).
So I was hoping that someone would have made a neoprene type case/sleeve/pouch by now that has a padded liner in it effectively creating 2 separate compartments. W/out this, you can't really throw both pieces in while they are disconnected I suspect w/out the chance for some scratching.
Has anyone else thought of this and found a solution???
Thanks.

OK, a little more hunting has uncovered what may be a good solution to what I'm after, but the pictures don't prove it. The description sounds just right:
-Semi-rigid, molded EVA shell designed to fit your iPad, iPad 2 , or 9-10 inch tablet
-The tablet compartments molded ribbing detail provides additional shock-absorbing protection
-Interior divider with its own securing strap separates the tablet from other accessories and keeps it in place
-Soft lining on interior divider helps to prevent scratches to your screen
-Interior storage for power cords, a wallet or phone

Wanted to share in case anyone is also looking, has their own suggestions, or feedback on this case...
Thanks.

I bought the Targus CitiGear Mini from BestBuy a week ago and really like it.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Targus-CityGear-Mini-for-iPad-Tablet-Netbook/16480776
(BestBuy was selling it for 35$ and after I bought it I happened to see it on the shelf at Walmart (a mere block from the BestBuy mind you) a couple of days later for 25$, so I took it back to BestBuy and had them price match it)
It has the 'dual' pockets like you mentioned where you can put the dock in one side and the tablet in the other side. One slot is larger than the other, so you could also put the dock/keyboard in that slot if they are connected. The smaller slot where the actual tablet goes is pretty much the perfect size for the Prime as it barely fits. This is probably a good thing though b/c the tablet can't slide around what-so-ever while it is in there, so you shouldn't have to worry about it getting any scratches. The entire inside of the thing is the soft padded lining so you shouldn't get any scratches regardless, but I find it nice that the tablet is secure and can't move around in the first place. It also has an expandable pocket on the front where you can put your power cord, adapters and what not.
The CityGear looks like it might be a little bigger than the CaseLogic one that you mentioned but I couldn't be happier with the Targus carrying case. I think the CityGear might be easier to get into as you don't have to unzip it like the CaseLogic one. You simply unclip the buckle, flip open the cover and pull out the tablet. I have a case for my old laptop that you have to 'unzip' to open it, and it is a little bit of an inconvenience.

Thanks, I'll have to look into that one!
For anyone else looking, after reading some of the reviews to the link I posted earlier, I kind of got the impression that one of the "dual compartments" may be much smaller, intended for adapters and plugs... Just a hunch, but I wouldn't order it w/out someone explicitly saying it would fit at this point...

I have that one too. Works very well. It is my new carry-on bag. Much smaller/lighter than backpack with laptop and accessories.

I bought this from casecrown, it's awesome, and has loads of room for other bits and pieces.

I bought this case from Futureshop and it fits well.

It has 2 compartments and the larger one is divided in half where the back half fits the prime alone quite well. The front half would fit the prime attached to the dock or the dock separately. The smaller compartment has a mini pocket in it to hold an iPod or phone sized device with a space for headphones to travel up the strap and exit near your shoulder.
The only thing I didn't like (it isn't specific to this case) is that the USB charger wall wart has no place to go that is not a danger to the screen if the bag gets squished.

Hey guys I just ordered this and will let you know how I go:
http://wap.ebay.co.uk/Pages/ViewIte...l?ViewItem&item=140460255965&autoredirect=off
It's a case for the Zt-180. I checked and the measurements of the Zt-180 and gtab are very similar. I am fairly sure it will fit and I can see in the pic that the corner loops look to be elastic as well.
It should effectively fit similar to that kindle one others have been buying but the corner loops will be more flexible hopefully meaning that there is no need to cut off one corner like the kindle one.
Hi BAM,
I'd love to know how did it go with your case . I've got the same idea but since you are ahead of me so can i get a bit of feedback please.cheers..
Is it this one?
eBay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/10-Leather-Case...ltDomain_0&hash=item483eb6c286#ht_1763wt_1139
$12.79 with free shipping.
Size: 10.6" x 7.09" x 0.59"
It has a stand built in as well. Since it's not that expensive, I went ahead and bought it, along with this bluetooth keyboard/touch pad combo:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Rii-Mini-Wi...ltDomain_0&hash=item4cf4a653c5#ht_6664wt_1200
$38 + $10sh, $48 total.
All in all, $60 spent. I also bought two docks from it2steve, I'm planning on setting up one dock on my nightstand, and then another dock in my living room for my tv. Then I could sit on the couch and type/control the tablet using the bluetooth device above. That's my logic at least, we'll see how it plays out.
I can see that set up you have working fine except the HDMI picture quality is lacking. Wish it output a better 1080p image to the screen via the dock. I also wish we can have profiles for the docked and undocked state. Let's say we have a way of automatically disabling the Wi-Fi, Adjust the brightness, enable blue tooth and enabling the HDMI all when in the docked state...now that would be great. But I still do like the dock.
All, remember that the quality of the 1080p playback will depend on the encoding used to create the video on the gTab to begin with. If i remember several posts by Robeet and others, high profile will not work on the Tegra2 CPUs, and we've already condensed the quality of the original to scale down to fit the 10" screen.
If you are expecting the lower quality to be upscaled, I think you'll be sorely disappointed.
I just received this case and so far it's not bad. I like that it hides the buttons on the right that I'm always pressing by accident and getting kicked out of whatever I'm in. The stand is not as sturdy as I'd like but it works. For the price, this is worth it for me.

Well I just bought one of those cases although it looks like it covers the camera port so I may need to do some modifying but great deal nonetheless. Hopefully it fits the tablet snug.

Nah its not that case.
I am still waiting on delivery as I bought it through ebay uk and I live in australia. It takes ages for UK items to arrive.
The case I bought has corner loops just like the kindle dx case but from the picture i saw it looks like the corner loops are half elastic hopefully eliminating the issue that the dx owners have had.
The measurements however look almost spot on.
Will definitely update soon. I expect the case to arrive this week. Fingers crossed!
Should look like this:
http://www.digibite.co.uk/ebay_img/10_cases/lc_no2_5 (Small).jpg
BAM
It fits perfectly! Like a glove!
There's no cutting stretching or modifying required. As I suspected the loops are part leather part elastic so it hugs the corners with enough freedom to access everything. Power plug still accessible, USB and sdmicro ok, and nothing else is blocked.
The leather is firm but feels soft. There's a slide in tag rather than a button/buckle to keep it closed. It works well and means your not pressing against the screen.
I'll post up pics in a day or so as I'm cutting into drinking time now.
ZT-180 case
I have an ePad ZT-180 (which died). I think it is the same as the aPad. It came with a leatherette folding case that has a built-in keyboard. It is an exact fit. Not only that but the USB keyboard works with the G-tablet. One of the clamps interferes with access to the USB port but a few nibbles with nibbling tool made a notch big enough for the USB connector an still left it functional for holding the tablet in place. - Jim
does it work as a stand?
No it's just a folio type case not doubling as a stand.
And i've updated the first post with pics to show how it looks.

HP Mini netbook sleeve

Hey guys as a lot of you have probably realized the transformer's form factor is pretty similar to a generic 10 inch netbook's dimensions. I spent a few hours the other day looking for something that is slim and would have the option to carry a few extra things (charger and cable) while offering enough protection against light bumps and scrapes. I saw a few regular black ones that if i ever left anywhere might be hard to spot. Then i saw this one for the HP mini which was black with some red accents and stretchy pockets.

The inside is lined with some fuzzy material thats super soft to the touch.
The fitment is pretty much dead on. I was afraid it wouldn't fit cuz the tab does look a bit on the long side, but here it is overlaid on the sleeve as well as sitting in it. You can also see that the zipper is the hidden type, which makes it look a little more sleek:
I don't have the dock yet (who does? lol), but i'm confident that theres plenty of room to spare judging by pictures of mockups with the two halves' thicknesses compared.
Overall, very happy with it, as i ordered it on amazon with 2 day prime and it shipped the next morning Now if only i could get this thing unbricked so i can actually use the sleeve and take it places..
Heres the link for anyone interested, 15 bucks on amazon with prime.
HP Tablet Sleeve - Black with Red Trim
looks good.
I bought one of these because of your recommendation. I got it yesterday, and I am pleased with it. It's a little thicker than I expected. Fit's perfect in length, and a little extra width, which is expected given it's form factor. There is a good amount of padding for protection. The zipper is protected from the inside, so no worries about it scratching the bezel. There's plenty of room even with the keyboard dock. I do kinda wish there was a strap/handle that you could hook your fingers through. It has a few pockets on the outside that you can slide things like usb flash or sd cards. You can squeeze the charger in one, but not comfortably. That's what the 16 hour battery life is for.
I got one of these too and its great!

I'm glad that theres room to spare with the dock, as i will probably put a small notebook in there for those instances where you just need to use paper. For the money paid, it really is a pretty good deal it seems.
Thanks for the post! I actually have that same case for my HP Mini (but with the white inner lining) and was wondering if it would fit my TF when it comes in Monday.
Now I know that it will, Thanks!
I have this case as well and it works for me I don't have the dock yet but as others have said it should have plenty of room. I found that the charger fit best in the top small pocket on the front (the one with the plastic piping on the top edge). Having the piping there helps to keep the charger from falling out. I get $10 off $20 discount cards for Office Max all the time. At my local office max this case was going for $20.99 so $11 after the discount made it a no-brainer It looks like it will also allow you to nest cases. If you buy a leather portfolio style case you could leave that attached to the TF and slide it into the neoprene case for extra protection Double-bagging, if you will.
That 'piping' on the top is actually a handle that is on both sides of the case!
I got the same case at MicroCenter in Minnesota for 9.00 in the discount section. Fits the Tablet with or without dock very well. Pouches work creat for power brick and cable. It is soft on the inside without the lint problem some of them have. IMO this is the perfect case.
P.S. I DONT NEED NO STINKING "Smart Cover". A keyboard/dock that covers the light sensor for hibernation when closed, doubles the battery life, adds full USB ports and SD slot.... NOW THAT IS A DAMN SMART COVER. (plus I got it on buy.com for only 60 bucks more that that limp vinyl feminine napkin with magnets that apple calls a cover)

wow, I didn't even think twice about that until you mentioned it...that is really clever. The design of this case is very thought out yet simplistic. I like it a lot.
Any 10" Netbook sleeve will fit it. I am using one by Built.
One of the benefits of a netbook sleeve as well is if/when you get the keyboard, it will still fit and be useful.
I have the same sleave and it fits the TF+dock just fine.

Unfortunately not the case, I bought one of the basic neoprene slip kind and it was way too small. This one however looks awesome, I think I'm sold.
I got this case too. Fits rather snugly and you need to position the tablet to sit into the groove at the bottom to ensure a good fit.
Otherwise a great case and as mentioned fits fine with the dock.
The piping handle too is a great touch.
I can confirm as well that the Transformer fits nicely with the dock attached.

Is it snug without the keyboard dock attached? Or is there a lot of unused space inside, since I suppose it was designed for a netbook which is thicker.
Found one of these at Wal-Mart on the clearance rack for 10 bucks. It had a foam insert to help it keep shape on the shelf and I keep it in there for added protection for my screen since I don't have the dock yet. This thing works very well and I love the "handle" on top. The zipper closure on top is also very snazzy.
Can't hurt that the red color also matches my iFaraday stylus!

Blurex case in stock

I would buy it right now as it looks compatible with the keyboard dock but I will not pull the trigger until I know how the flap stays closed.
Edit - Wait it looks like to clips over the top...hmm I think I might get one.
This is the same case also sold by MoKo and Vertek. Targus also sold a version of this for the iPad2 (or the Moko and Vertek are a copy of the Targus). Anyway, the MoKo review thread has a couple pics of it with the keyboard dock in use.

It looks like the only downside is the front of the keyboard is raised slightly due to the clasp.

I have the Poetic and it does have a cutout for the charger.
I got this case today since I wanted one before I head out on my road trip to vegas but its kinda disappointing so far. It feels a bit flimsy since its loose (kinda need to grab the case to know what I mean -_-; sorry that I can't really describe it) and the bottom corner of the tablet holder doesn't quite fit into the tablet. I'm kinda wondering if I should bother getting another case or just keep with this.
I'll return mine also if I don't like it. I have the Moko and have been just OK with it. Has the charging port cut out ok.
This was a fail. I ordered this from the Amazon link in the OP and I received today a case for a 7" tablet.
The sticker on the box said Transformer prime TF201, but it was way too small.
I got one. I don't have a tablet to use it in but it seems good so far. It says it is leather and smells and feels like leather. The construction of mine seems quite good. I'll post a pic or two Friday if one of the Primes I have coming doesn't have any issues.
I'm going to order and try it out. Fulfilled through Amazon, so returns will be easy.
I spent a good 10 minutes comparing the photos between this and the Moko, and they look identical.

I got mine today and do not like it. The tablet is held in by clasps, which I don't like at all. I switched back to my Moko case, which the tablet slides into. I'll return the Bluerex one.
I ordered this and it already shipped, too late to cancel ..Will I regret the purchase? What's the problem with it, it clips too tight?
I just received this case today. This is my first folio type case. My previous case was the official ASUS case for the TF101. Because of that, I have developed a preference for holding my tablet in portrait-view by folding the cover into a triangle shape behind the tablet (like the Apple Smart Cover).
The TF201 fits very tightly into this case. I'm afraid of bending the boarder of the prime every time I snap the case closed. It feels like high quality. I only wish that I could hold it in portrait-view like the TF101 case.
Well I finally got a good Prime. This case definitely seems to be constructed well. The stitching is tight and the materials feel nice. There are a couple things I dislike. One is that the tablet slides in really tight. Once you get it in it is fine but it feels a little unnerving trying to slide the case on. All the little tabs that hold it in place are soft material though so no scratching will occur.

The stand features works awesome. The tablet feels secure and does not feel at all like it will slip out of the grooves.
Here you can see when the cover is folded all the way back it does not lay flat. I believe this will loosen up over time as the materials stretch and get warn. This doesn't bother me but it may bother some. There is no mechanism to hold the cover back either. You just have to hold it with the tablet in your hands.
Here you can see I am pressing it down so it lays flat.
Another thing I dislike is how you have to snap the bottom two clips in for the tablet to be fully in the case but then you have to unsnap them if you want to use the stand feature. I would prefer if those two bottom clips on the left and right were not there. You can see in this pic below I have them snapped in but in the second pic above they are not snapped in so that the stand can be in use. I may get out my Dremel and grind those two tabs away. I think I could make it look decent and function the way I want. It depends if they loosen up for me. (When I say "snap" they don't really snap with a sound or definite feel but for lack of a better word I used "snap". They kind of just need to get pressed onto the right position.)
Here are a couple images of the case with the dock attached. These are basically the two ways you would probably use it. The dock lays flat and works perfectly in either position. The front is elevated slightly on the clip but you cannot really tell.
Finally, the clip that folds over the top of the tablet is a little tight. I am still kind of nervous to clip it over my tablet without really thinking about being super careful. Again everything is covered in a microfiber/felt type material so no scratching but the force you kind of need to use is a little unnerving. I also think this will loosen up over time but right now nothing really feels natural to use. I don't just whip the case open and start using it...I exam how I open it pretty carefully still, lol.
Would I buy it again? Probably not. Everything is just a little too snug for my liking and I dislike how you have to un-attach those bottom two tabs for placing it in the "stand" position. If they didn't come out so hard I probably wouldn't mind. I am really hoping everything loosens up a bit with use. The quality of the materials is impressive and it will protect the Prime just fine. Time will tell whether or not I use it I guess.
I loosened up the bottom two tabs with a pair of pliers. Slips in and out pretty easily now.

This worked great. I loosened up the clip that holds it shut as well.
Thanks guys just ordered one myself. I've been eying the blurex case for my acer a100 which currently been out of stock for a while and love how low profile it was. Glad they also make one for the Prime. Also glad it will still work if I decide to get the keyboard.
Tabs or not, I don't like the way the tablet fits in this case. Having to clamp on and off all the time just isn't what I want to do. It will eventually scratch or wear down the metal/plastic and make it look bad. Thanks there are other options and still coming.

Review of Poetic StandBook Leather Case (Version that doesn't cover bezel)

Here's the case - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006PWGESY/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
Just received it today. The leather and stitching look nice and seem like they are of good quality. The inner padding is soft and so I doubt it would mess up the screen.
It has a few different stand angles and it is pretty sturdy when angled (doesn't fall out of the grooves).
When the tab is angled, the speaker isn't covered at all so there aren't issues with the speaker being blocked.
I really like the look of it since it doesn't cover the bezel like other cases.
The only things I don't like have to do with the tabs that hold the tablet in place. In the very last picture I post you can see the tabs that hold the bottom right and bottom left corner of the tablet in place. You have to pop these out when using the angular stand. It's a pain to pop out because it is a very tight fit. I'll probably just leave the bottom corners out and not held in place. Also, when you close the front cover, the tab that holds the cover closed isn't that tight of a fit so it easily pops off.
Overall, it's a decent case for $15 shipped.

This is the case i'm waiting for in the UK.
I had the same on my OG Transformer and it was great.
Nice review! I have the same exact case. As stated my only concern with the case is the bottom tabs where the tablet pops out so you can stand it up. Mine are tight as well and it makes me nervous to keep popping it and out. Other than that it seems like an overall nice case.
More pics. Dont use the bottom two tabs. Sweet case.

I got this as well and feel the same about the bottom two tabs. I wonder if it's the same with the Blurex, Moko and Verteks cases.
I'm sure they have the same problem. These cases look identical except the branding. But for 15$ it's not bad. It's a good case for carrying the tab around. I'm looking into a nice sleeve for when I take the tab + dock around.
Someone on another forum said that they successfully loosed up the bottom two tabs with some pliers.
how much does the case add to the thickness of the tablet.
+1 on bottom tabs. I just don't use them at all.
I got mine for $10 from amazon, free shipping
Returned my prime to Newegg.. Going to go with the tf700. If anyone wants this case and the extra carbon fiber skin and screen protector by skinomi that I have, shoot me a PM. Good luck. To you all
I hope this is not a stupid question, but does the case close with the dock attached?
Took my tablet out today and I'm really shocked at the quality of the spinned/brushed finishes. After examining under a bright light I saw several scratches. I was really careful. The tablet itself came into contact with nothing but my hands and the cushion of the laptop bag. Granted it wasn't microfiber but still. I had a Zune HD for 2 years and it had no problems. The back is flawless despite much harsher treatment I've given it over the past year or so such as tossing it in the same pocket with keys. Only the laser etching and plastic is scratched. The brushed aluminum finish is flawless. The screen is close enough. I hate using cases but it looks like in this case I have to or my heart will hurt =(.
I got mine today too, I like how thin it is but those bottom tabs definitively suck. My tab that holds it closed is actually fairly strong but that may wear out, I like the case but I have seen other cases I liked more, but for the price this one is awesome.
I received this case as well and I think it's a total POS. What's worse is that seller totally ignoring my requests or either a replacement or a return. Stay clear, you have been warned.
I recently received this case and had purchased it because I also own a Poetic Case for my TF101. The thing I don't like about this case vs the one for my TF101 is that there is a crease down the front of the flap that covers the screen which isn't there on my TF101 Poetic Case. This causes the tablet to not stay secure or stand up properly in the grooves if you have it laying on any surface that isn't flat (i.e. my lap, bed, or merely holding it).
The case for my TF101 is more sturdy than this one because it doesn't have the grove down the front flap and I was quite used to being able to holding it in my lap when I commute into work or in my hand without it falling out of the grooves everytime.
I also agree with the other comments about the bottom corners being too stiff but I guess others have been able to fix this with pliers. For $15, this will work for now but I hope to find something better in the near future. I do like the minimalistic look in that it doesn't cover the front screen but having it skip out of the grooves is somewhat annoying.

It's hard to take out at first but eventually it will come off easier. I ordered this as well but I have similar style for my daughter ipad with similar situation.

[Q] How many of you "cased" both or just the tablet + dock?

I recently picked up the dock for the Prime for a good price and I only have the case for the prime itself and it won't work with the keyboard which got me wondering.
How many of you actually have a case on the tablet, keyboard or both? Or do you prefer the naked "look"?
I feel like if it's without any case or anything it will get damaged, scratched and whatnot way easier.
Prefer the naked look myself, but i have a padded pouch type case for the prime and dock for when i am not using it.
Im normally undocked using my blurex case. When i do dock i go naked. Somehow that doesnt sound right lol

both
I have two cases for the prime (roocase) and one for both (minisuit).
I just got my minisuit today (covers both) - I like it, so far so good - this is the apparently reworked design as the original had some issues with being to tight and not lining up well and I can say it would seem this lines up just right. Feels nice too.
I think I'm going to get a nice slim/sexy fit for the tab on its own though for when I don't want to use the dock as otherwise the Minisuit is too bulky.
I have cases for both tab alone and with keyboard, I really like my Prime aluminium unscratched finish and plan to continue having it that way.
Poetic leather case for the tablet. Nothing for the dock. I remove the tablet from the leather case when I need to use it with the dock.
I have a case on the tablet that allows use of the dock (although you can't actually close the dock while in the case), and then when I'm on the road and taking both with my I put them in a small slip case that holds both the tablet in its case and the dock.
So far, not a single scratch on either.
I'm almost always docked and the champagne gold brushed aluminum is too sexy to cover up. I do have a bag for it though for when I take it around that also holds the charger, a mouse, hdmi cable, and ps3 controller.
I havent read the best reviews about the minisuit so i guess ill run it naked when docked and find myself some netbook sleeve or something
Had a tablet-only case (covering the bezel style), then got the dock. Stopped using the tablet-only case altogether, then tried to figure out a way mod the case to accommodate both. Wrecked the case and tossed it, now I just toss both in a netbook sleeve along with the charger and a couple accessories (elano microsd-usb, stylus, headphones, flash drives)
I have a silver carbon-fiber Skinomi skin on the Prime and dock, the Skinomi wet-application screen protector, and a full Prime/dock leather minisuit from Amazon
any recommendations on a decent sleeve to fit the tablet and charger?
Naked at home, Docked in public
I sport naked around the house... and docked and cased in public.
I purchased a Burnoaa case for the tablet (Usually Docked).

It takes a couple weeks to get in the states.
I am quite happy with it and it has a memory foam liner which is snug enough for tablet alone or expands to fit dock and a medium size notepad.
My only fear is that it may appear to be a "murse" (man purse)...but I am secure enough to sport it, lmao.
Overall I would highly recommend this product...if this is the style that meets your needs,
I think we would be ok with like a 10-12" netbook/laptop sleeve to use right?
The extra space could fit the charger I assume?
No case on either for me. I find the keyboard/dock protects the screen and I have a Targus messenger bag for actual transport.

I pack a LOT of stuff with me though, USB > Serial adapter, Bluetooth > Serial, USB > Ethernet, Bluetooth headphones, tablet stylus, laser pointer, spare SD card, charger for tablet and phone, and I'm not sure what all else.
Anyway, I've had my Prime a couple of months now and I thought I saw a slight abrasion on the back of the tablet yesterday, but I just looked and I can't find it now. I'm pretty fanatical about taking care of my stuff though.
