[Q] Lapdock mousepad and disassembly - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I modded my webtop and now am loving everything about it and my lapdock except one thing: The crappy mousepad. This thing's sensitivity is all whack and the buttons are so hard to push. Just curious if anyone has modded theirs or knows of a solution. Does anyone have a disassembly guide? Can the buttons be made to click easier? If I had that change alone, I would be a happy camper.

Modifying the Athena to a real portable console

Hello,
I don't know if the subject was already discussed, but I never saw anything about that.
So, as we are a lucky to own a device with a removing keyboard, I thought we could plug something else like a real pad and some buttons to make our device looks and feels like a real portable console. Take a look at the pic, though it is just a draft.
I think we could get the pad and the buttons from a real little joystick (there's plenty of them for diferent consoles), mount them on the Athena and join them with micro wires to the 8 pins used to connect the keyboard.
We would need informations about how the keyboard work with the main unit.
This is just an idea but I think it could be a really good one. I'm not a good homemade genius nor an amator, though, if you are interested, we could maybe work together on this project.
The cursor pad does exactly what the Athens' own joystick does. You can skip that.

Hello,
I noticed that the stick on the Athena's can't do up-right,up-left,down-right nor down-left. At first look and first use I thought the stick was well designed, but finaly this issue prevents playing most games. If people here can use the stick to do diagonal axis, please let me know.
Aynway, the main idea was to make the Athena looks and feels like a real portable console. Game buttons really lake for this purpose and the ones available just suck. The feel is not good and they are not well set.
Also I'm not talking about piercing holes in the athena but finding a way to fix a pad+buttons set on the surface of the machine.

When u say fix a pad+buttons set on the surface do you sorta like using a silicon skin over the device with the buttons built in on it and using either fiber optic wires or some kind of thin ribbon cable going back to the keyboard pads and all the necessary cutouts already in place on the skin so you can still access all the stuff (ie. reset, battery area, external gps conectors etc. etc...) Or was I way over my head on this one?

Well, there are many ways to bind a system like that on the device without damaging it and by keeping access to the functions you mentioned. I haven't thought about that yet because I think the 1st thing to figure out is how the Athena deals with the keyboard using the pins. Has anyone ever seen informations about that ?
A very good & interesting idea , in my opinion add more buttons is always better as u have more choices to activate these buttons if otherways failed to do so , and i don't think it will take up space in the ram / rom , anyway Htc should look into this page , always more buttons , more better i say

[Q] Touchscreen Atrix Lapdock?

LOL, you all thought that I thought that the Atrix Lapdock had a touchscreen!
No, but seriously. http://stores.ebay.fr/Visualtouchwo...d=360513148&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1581&_pgn=2
this store has a resistive touchscreen for the 11.6" screen size, which is the exact size of the lapdock screen. Although it isn't the capacitive we know and love, it's better than nothing.
The only problems now would be how it would fit in the lapdock with its unusual hinge, and drivers.
I'm not sure about the fit, but the drivers could work through the full ubuntu mod.
Anyways, I just thought I would shoot this out to anyone willing to back me up, or correct me.
Ok, this just looks cool. Has anyone tried it? does it work with the Android OS?
No one has tried it, otherwise this thread would have had more responses in the last year and half. Don't think anyone was willing to spend money on a touchscreen that may or may not work. Plus the thing costs just as much as the lapdock if not more.

Stylus not working on part of the screen

hey,
i bought a stylus to take notes on the transformer but it's not working on the hole screen.
i have attached a screenshot for demonstration.
does someone have an explanation for this phenomenon?
EDIT:
i just wanted to prove it works perfectly with fingers, but i found out it doesn'!
see the screenshot draw_thumb.jpg, i actually wanted to draw straight lines and one circle.
btw, his is the same in ubuntu and android!
EDIT2:
updated screenshot
EDIT3:
i restored everything to stock, and like i was afraid the problem persists.
i have to return it.
Looks like some sort of grounding issue. I know the Evo 4G had issues like that on its earlier 2.1 versions. If you hold the tablet in your hands and try to use the stylus on the bottom half of the screen does it still not register?
i retried it, and it really seems to be a dead-part in the touchscreen
is there any chance this is a software issue?

Xperia tablet S keyboard case

Hey folks!
I use my tab for uni note taking and all that stuff, and just wondering, how good is the official XTS keyboard case? How well can you touch type on it? I have/had a kensington multi-angle key folio keyboard case and it failed on me
Thanks!
I have just got the tablet keyboard. So far I haven't got it to work.
It seems to have a loose connection as it was charging from it earlier (although that is also broken now). Not sure if completely broken, but it seems not to be the best quality case...
Of course I might just have been unlucky.
Edit: You have to really click in the keyboard, almost force it. That's why there was a loose connection.
It is very easy to type with (once connected). Very happy now. I have not found it too sensitive, and it is MUCH better than using a touchscreen keyboard.
Only quirk is that the screen must be at a steep angle (otherwise it will cover the keyboard). This gives it a feel more like a laptop. This maybe isn't a bad thing, although makes using the touchscreen a little uncomfortable. Personal preference here I guess.
I would recommend it for someone who will be doing a lot of typing

I actually bought it a week ago and have it right here on the table, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how well I could type on something that barely had any tactile feedback
i heard once from one of my friend's that its not working every where!
for instance,i heard you cant use in games!

[Q] NE1 been able to try Google Cardboard with XZU

Was just wondering how much modification it would take to get an XZU shoehorned into one, as it's designed to a N5 I'm guessing some mod might be required.
If you don't know what it is:
https://developers.google.com/cardboard/
yea but nah
So it really doesnt fit at all, ive been trying to make myself a custom headset that works and fits better but i think what I really need is longer focal lens length on the lenses, the screen size is so big that your eyes have trouble merging the images that close, would be great to hear if anyone else has had more success too.
