How to push apk file? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I downloaded a live wallpaper and it was said to "push it". How do you do this?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium

Easiest way is to use your file explorer and put it in /system/app, set your permissions and reboot.
In the way you are talking about, "push" is a general term. There is another way that uses ADB and pushes the apk to system or another partition. But for this, just do the above.

OK I moved it to system/app, I am using root explorer, I am not understand how to set permissions. It lists 3 choices.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium

Longpress the apk and a menu will pop up. Hit Permissions (make sure you are r/w in top right corner of Root Explorer).
Permissions are
First column - all checked.
Second column- only the top is checked
Third column - None are checked
Should look like an upside down L

Thank you so Much for your help. After I do all of this and reboot, it should appear in my live wallpaper menu?

I have done everything and after reboot I do not see the file in live wallpaper. I didn't see an upside down L?

Should look like this. Pay no attention to the Clockopedia at the top.

Does anyone have the ORIGINAL livewallpapers.apk?

Ever sense I installed GB I've been missing the grass live wallpaper, and the galaxy live wallpaper a ton. The galaxy I know would look good with a gingerbread theme. Does anyone have this file and know how to get the wallpapers back?
Did you ever find this ???
They are both part of LiveWallpapers.apk in /system/app on gingerbread. Here's the apk in case you are missing it:

Use root explorer to navigate to /system/app. Mount as r/w and find livewallpapers.apk long press it and choose permissions. Check every option. Save changes, change mount back to r/o. Also run "fix permissions" in rom manager. Reboot and you should be good.

Order and chaos

Has anyone been able to play this on our model? Are there any methods to get it to work. The game seems to work for the i9100.

Are you using root explorer? Is build.prop the only file that does this? Can you edit your backup?
I saw another person had issues like this on an sgs2 and root browser worked for them.
I think root browser is available on xda but I've never tried it.

its not saving it in the backup file either on root explorer or root browser either. i'll edit it, then save the file and then try to reopen to check if it changed, and it goes back to i777. am i doing something wrong?
Are you hitting menu save changes? I've never ran across that problem before.
If its in r/w mode and you're hitting save changes, I'm at a loss.

ya, no matter what i used, it would never save it on the phone, so i just edited through my computer and dropboxed the edited version in, and rebooted and now it shows my phone as a i9100.
one problem though, it now tells me that i have an invalid license with swype and i cant use it anymore? anyone know what to do with that?

If you change back to i777 the game will tell you it's not supported and to request a refund when you launch it.

I cannot get this game on my phone. I had the same problem as others where u would edit the build.prop and it would switch back after a save. So I used other methods like propeditor.apk or doing it the dropbox way. Both after reboot showed the i9100 but the game still doesn't show up in the marketplace. Any suggestions?

Can't put a file on desktop

I know that i am probally missing something simple but -
On a S3 how do i put a Excel file on a screen?
It won't let you right click and copy and paste. However, if you select the file and hot control+c the go to desktop and hit control+v it should work

I think he's referring to putting it on the home screen of his GS3....correct?
Yeah
this may or may not work. Also there may be an easier way. I downloaded Astro file manager from Google Store (free app)
Went to home screen, long press and select Short Cuts (I use Nova launcher)
Then selected Astro from the menu
Astro should open and you should be able to browse to the file you want. I didnt have an excel or document to use. I just tested it with a ringtone and it added the ringtone to home screen

Hide files in android

Hello guys. I was nokia user since 6 years & I'm new on android. I just want to take information there are many file managers which have attribute option to modified any file.... i.e to hide files simply on their original path whatever the files stored anywhere but in android, there are also many file browser but these don't have attribute option to hide, mean there is only every separate application to hide files. It does not matter but the issue is that these applications hide the applications as well as it also moves the the files from its original path which i don't like. Can any kind man tell me the any file browser with attribute option to hide files or any hide application without moving the files. Thanx a lot for reading & suggestions.
Use root explorer...to hide a file in android simply put a (.) Before the file name..without the brackets..itll hide itself without changing its location but in root explorer ull havta go into the preference and uncheck show hidden files also!

if you're using touchwiz launcher if you press menu there is a 'hide applications' option where you choose which ones you'd like to hide from the app drawer (if that's what you're talking about - not sure when you say hide 'files')

Hide files, make them invisible from a normal directory listing. The answer is correctly given above.

Kindle app font size

I rooted my kfhd yesterday. And I'm loving it, only thing so far is the kindle app for reading my books is restricted in the smallest don't size.
I used to be able to make it smaller than it is now.
I know it's not a major complaint but is there a way to make it smaller since its a rooted kfhd?

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE
But bricking is not likely if you do this right. :good:
Get ES File Explorer from the play store and install.
Open the settings menu and scroll down to the "root settings" (near the bottom of the menu).
Open root settings and make sure to check all the options (grant su permissions when prompted).
Then, back out of settings menu and navigate to root (by clicking the "file up" button).
Open the system file and find build.prop file.
Open the build.prop file with ES Note Editor. (should be an option for ES Note Editor when you click on it)
VERY CAREFULLY SCROLL DOWN until you see ro.sf.lcd_density=xxx.
Where I put xxx, you will see a number like 240 or whatever the stock dpi is.
Now, click just after the line and delete the number (only the number, nothing else) and now enter a number that you want. (try 210). The smaller the number, the more "zoomed out" your screen will look. Stay within 150-300 though just to be safe.
BE CERTAIN THAT YOU DID NOT EDIT ANYTHING ELSE!!!
Back out and save when prompted.
Reboot. And see if you like it. The same process will change it back or to another size. Staying within 150-300 though just to be safe.
IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO BACKUP YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES.
If you brick your phone, help can be found in my signature.
Good Luck.
